I came here with my friend Liv on my birthday. Long story short, I’ve been playing pool recreationally for six years now. Needless to say, I’ve played hundreds of games across the country and have slowly developed my billiards capabilities naturally over time. When I found out that Bushwick Public House had a pool table I was incredibly thrilled. Long story short, they have a smaller table and a wide variety of pool cues to choose from. My friend Liv was visiting from Philly and, long story short, we were in for the game of a lifetime. I ordered a small black coffee and she ordered an oat milk latte. We sipped our drinks slowly as we played. Long story short, I started out in the lead, knocking in two solids to open up the game. Unfortunately, my turn ended when I accidentally pocketed one of her balls. She then proceeded to deliver a series of devastating blows and shot 5 of the stripes in, leaving only one of her balls left. The custodian mopping nearby was highly impressed by her precision and laser-like accuracy and a crowd began to form around the table to cheer her on. My next moves were critical and I played as defensively as possible, ensuring that she was unable to knock her last ball in. Over the next few turns, I was able to equalize and we were neck and neck with only the 8 ball left. However, long story short, Liv was on fire that day and I knew that if I gave her any opportunity to win the game she would. The 8 ball was in the middle of the table and I called for a bounce shot to ensure that I wouldn’t scratch and lose the game. I missed. Liv was up now and the crowd began to chant her name. She walked up to the table, looked me dead in the eyes, and said “Joe, it’s time to go home.” She leaned down on the table with calm, unwavering focus as if nothing was going on around her. Just her and the pool table. Seconds felt like light years. Then… it happened: what we now call “The Pool Shot That Could Be Heard Around The World.” I’ve never seen a cue ball roll smoother on green felt before; the ball looked like a spry arctic wolf prowling on professionally mowed, stadium regulation grass. I felt the force of the balls colliding as I stood just feet away — the momentum of one ball hitting the next, the beauty of kinetic energy — forms of mass reaching for each other like magnets as the nature of gravity brings them together for a single moment only to then push them farther apart. My brain exploded and I soiled my pants. I felt a tear falling down my cheek as I came to the realization that I was milliseconds away from losing the game. The 8 ball vanished into the pocket never to come back again. I was defeated. Long story short, we had a great time at Bushwick Public House. The coffee was great, the service was quick and friendly, and, long story short, both Liv and I left with unforgettable memories that we will cherish for many lifetimes to come.

A cool place but recently there have been threats, unruly customers, and unchecked violent behavior that left both the staff and the patrons vulnerable. It has been expressed many times to management that door security should be present to prevent these situations from occurring but management refuses to acknowledge this and has instead let go of the staff that continued to advocate for their own safety. Do better.

Very cozy cafe with a bar. Has fast WiFi and is open till late. The bartenders are chill and friendly. There's also a pool table and some couches. Fun wall paintings around. Bathroom present. Free lemon water. Great place to get work done.

The service and usual patrons here are fantastic. All around a great environment. I made my closest friends since moving to the city here - This review is negative due to the owner taking no steps to make this spot safer for the customers and staff. After multiple violent displays, several threats to the staff, and even an arrest, the owner refused to entertain the idea of getting a doorman. Since these concerns were raised and asserted, the owner has been looking for new staff. It’s a shame - and it doesn’t need to be this way

Great place to do work on your laptop and need wifi while enjoying a cup of coffee. The baristas are very knowledgeable in their recommendations and allowed me to taste test drinks when deciding on a purchase. I tried the draft latte and it was amazing!

Great hangout daytime spot to get work done or to play pool, or just spend time with friends. I had a very delicious ☕️ latte. Awesome vibe. Highly recommend this place if you are in Bushwick.

this place gave me the creeps - it's the type of place you'd expect to not even have a liquor license. it'd be much cooler if it was just a basement, lose the pretentious and offbeat bar/café up top. a haven for trust fund kids, sex pests, and hipsters - welcome to bushwick! but i'll still reluctantly return if good artists continue to get booked here. also, only having a single bathroom for an (occasional) show space kinda sucks

This place was electric. Amelia was an amazing bartender. There’s coffee, pool, alcohol, whatever floats your fancy. We went to a show downstairs and it was perfectly accommodated with cool lights and a great spun system. Dope local spot.

Got a beer and cocktail here after work. It’s got a chill atmosphere and “hip” esthetic. Cocktails were good but on the smaller side. They also have a pool table and other games. You can play classic games on their raspberry pi classic game simulator. It has the Super Nintendo remotes which is fun. Over I’d go back. Sorry for the blurry photos. Screen captures from the one video I took there.

This is a stalwart that tends to be avoided as much as it is enjoyed. Too easy to rely on this general store-like establishment. A true watering hole with power outlets for your digital nomad needs.

I've really only spent time here during the day, so this is a review for the afternoon coffee experience, which is serviceable and worth a shot if you're in the area. Plenty of seating, nice staff, and generally laid-back vibe. Though the coffee isn't anything insanely artisanal or flashy, it does get the job done.

Sure the space is nice but all the staff are some of the most unhelpful and rude individuals I've spoke to in NYC. It's as if nobody employed there has any idea what's going on. If you're going in here for anything other than a coffee and free wifi I wouldn't recommend.

Pleasantly surprised by “The Hen.” Wouldn’t usually try an espresso tonic, but barista was quick to convince me otherwise. Cocktails and sandwiches also available. They also had a drop off box to develop film, which is the first I’ve seen in the neighborhood. Might come back to check out their yoga classes (12pm on Saturday’s)

Garbage service. Says they're open at 7am yet nobody is seen to be inside. One time I went in to order and stood around for atleast 5min until the single employee showed up from out the basement and acted like nothing was wrong for making 10 plus customers wait around for them. And to top off my comments, last time I was there they had an exterminator spraying down every square inch of the place. 🥲

Coffee was just ok but the size was good for the price and the service was prompt. Haven't tried the food but at those prices I'd certainly come back and give it a shot.

I really want to go here for my morning coffee so I stop in every 6 months and every time the pump cold brew system fails and the poor barista struggles for 10 min to fix it. This time I couldn’t miss my train and since I had already paid I had to run out with no coffee…all I ask is you use the extra $5 towards pump? Thank you

I can’t get enough of BPH! Krisha is the best bar tender I have ever seen! Her skills are unmatched. I am also sipping on the KJ currently and it is the best matcha drink I have ever had. It’s innovative, funky and fresh. The only thing that could make this place better is if they also sold rings by krisha.

a crackhead threw a cup of iced lemonade at me on a bench here. only took off one star because it didn’t actually hit me. besides that i come here to print things (they have a public printer) and occasionally grab a coffee. nice casual spot to work in. just beware the crackheads around there

Nice, small spot for mixed drinks and beers by the can. They offer a few pastries as well. There are a few board games to play and a pool table that is functional. Bartenders were friendly and promoted the specials well ($7 for a beer and a shot) It is recommended that you pay in cash as you go so the bartender does not have to keep track. This prevents miscounting or miscalculating Overall a decent place. Restroom was dirty but acceptable for bar standards.

Terrible, strange that my review was changed completely, aside from being physically assaulted by a drunk female worker, it’s a decent place. The workers name was epsi. I will never forget being ran out of this place since it was the first and only place anything like that has ever happened. After being harassed consistently while trying to play pool, my friend was fed up of being targeted so we decided to leave. The bartender had nothing to say when asked why epsi was allowed to harass him and bother us in such a way. The drunk worker proceeded to go behind the bar and get into a verbal argument slurring her words and slinging insults. As we were leaving epsi proceeded to follow us out not before cursing and calling my friend names. I had enough and cursed back telling her to stop following us and to leave us alone and stay inside the bar. She proceeded to threaten me and follow us outside the bar, and continuing to follow us down the block. The entire time the bartender allowed this to happen. Even when she put her hands on me and grabbed my arm and threatened me. I can only thank my friends for telling me not to defend myself because I fear that situation could have been twisted around and been terrible if I had. Thank you Bushwick public house for this experience. Thank you epsi for showing me that I need to record every encounter I have with drunk people in the case i have to defend myself. In conclusion, thank you for the giant disappointment. I had a similar post for a review I don’t understand why it was changed. Hopefully this one stays true.

Flying fast internet, $5 beer and shot, great coffee, AND they have a printer???? Whether you're a normal dude with your friends getting drunk or a business man finishing something up and want something caffeinated and possibly a little spiked, this is the place to be. Pool table, a little TV with every game you can think of up to uhhhh Dreamcast I think, and friendly people and bartenders. Probably the best casual bar you can go to. 10/10.

The place is definitely chill and has a strong familiar vibes, the ones you would like to feel in your neighborhood cafe. As a cafe is not more than ok, the coffee is fine, the pastries, sometimes look fresh and other times they look like from the day before. At night the pace becomes more if night bar. Can't say anything cause I didn't visit it at the night time enough to say anything. In general sweet place, but there are some things to work on.

I like this place cz it makes me feel like home. It's my neighborhood bar & coffee shop & my first go to spot when I'd like to work close from home. The seating isn't the most comfortable so you won't be able to survive there for so many hours.

I went here with a date and played pool. Worst bar experience I've ever had. I can't review the alcohol much because it's just alcohol but the trashy disrespectful patrons and one of the bartender are the ones that made the experience terrible. I saw the bartender and a few guys all go to the bathroom together to do cocaine too. Pretty unprofessional

Do not come here if you want to get any work done. It’s a bar, not a cafe. I came in at 9:30 expecting to just find a nice place to work. This is the place to go if you want to get drunk on a Tuesday morning. Full of transplant "main characters"

Honestly, I have never feared for my life from being at a place. The first time I ever came to BPH 7 months, I had a bad experience because the bartenders were making snarky comments at me for no apparent reason, so I decided never to return back again because of the bad CS. However, today was a life-threatening experience that im still processing. I came a little earlier for a show a colleague of mine was doing. When I arrived, a group of people were acting suspicious and voicing conflict with a mysterious person they were expecting to encounter. I didn't much of it because it was probably minor bar drama, however, the atmosphere intensify by the minute. People in the bar was so scared that they hid behind the bar or left through the bar's back entrance because the situation was escalating very hight to the point that one of the people on the group claimed that they had an armed weapon on them. This place is just an epicenter for a bad thing to happen. This place should not be allowed to be open unless they hire a qualified security system.
