This place is a hidden gem! Went for coffee with a classmate here and was instantly charmed. The host is so affable and warm and welcoming. He even taught me about the difference between paypal and squarecash when it comes to point of service business transactions. I feel like this is a spot I'll be frequenting for takeout coffee since it is a fairly reasonable walking distance (and short biking distance) from my place. There are all sorts of little arty ads around are there is even an ad for tarot readings! The host himself does Reiki and is very spiritual. Such a sweet space.

Great coffee and non-coffee drinks! Sweet & tasty pastries. The staff are so welcoming and kind!! The space itself is beautifully decorated in a chilled-out “modern art” style. This place is an AMAZING to relax with your friends, come to relax and de-stress by yourself, or bring your laptop to work or study. There are couches and lounge chairs, but also tables with chairs that you can work at. The energy of this coffee shop is very calm and soft.

Popped in here a couple of times whilst staying round the corner. Cool friendly little spot, nice simple food too.

Caffeine Underground is by FAR my favorite coffee spot in Bushwick! The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the coffee is to die for. It's a great place to set up shop and do some writing or reading and perfect for meeting up with friends. There are also plenty of fun events, like open mics and comedy shows, to keep you coming back. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

So this was exactly what my partner and I were looking for to do work late night. We’ve been looking for a cafe that’s open late so we can work on business after work. The barista and owner were super friendly and had great vibes. It was giving struggling community gentrification artist cafe vibes (in a good way), and welcoming! With art all over the walls, plants for sale, a quick bite to eat (at an affordable price & with healthy choices)! The tables and chairs are all mismatched with a living room area, which all made the place feel comfortable. There was a band playing downstairs but you could barely hear it. We got there an hour before closing so it sucked being able to accomplish all of our tasks but we are glad we found it and we for sure will be back.

I’m so glad to have this place nearby! The drinks are delicious (try the yerba mate! I got mine with coconut today) and i am obsessed with the grilled cheese. Everyone is always super friendly too and there’s always some cool events to check out. Just a solid neighborhood spot!

This place has the vibe of an anarchist bookstore with none of the inconsistencies or pretentious staff. Everyone is so chill here and they have some dope food and drink options you won't find at other third wave coffee shops.

Very nice independent coffee shop. Great coffee and baristas. Owner is nice and there often. They hold a lot of community arts events which is appreciated. Feels very college independent coffee shop but in a good way. A lot of people come here to work during the day. They have nice different coffee variations to try. It feels Bushwick without any of the pretension.

I came here on a whim to work one day! The latte was phenomenal and grilled cheese was great. Some of the best food prices in the area, too! The guy who owns it seems super chill, and through eavesdropping it's clear they have so many things they host and do for the community! I only gave it a 4 because I when I came in (and when a few other guests came in) it took a minute or two to get a hello. But i think that's just because it's a laid back enviornment,I'd imagine if I was a regular it wouldn't feel that way! And I definitely plan on coming back :)

The leaves are brown but they’ve got the BEST COLD BREW in town, folks! The man working every morning is also always extremely lovely. Highly recommend!

I’ve been going to cafes all over Brooklyn and this is my favorite one. It feels so safe and inclusive. It’s the only place where I feel like I can leave my laptop and belongings out. It’s cozy like a friend’s living room with big tables and comfy chairs where you can work. They have all kinds of open mics and creative activities going on most days. It’s also usually open pretty late. The owner is so friendly and generous and really seems to want people to just enjoy and be themselves.

Really good coffee and sandwiches. My only issue was the attitude of the staff! Dismissive and fed up when I ordered a sandwich. Would give 5 stars if this review was based on the quality of the products alone

I moved back to the area and am so glad to reconnect with this place. Their coffee on the beach is sooo good. The owner is very thoughtful, friendly, and community-oriented. This place is dog friendly, in fact, I think dog lovers. I miss the iconic dog named Earl. Luckily I think the toy dog skeleton is placed there in his honor. The atmosphere is a nice relaxed place. Good to work in or meet with friends. Def check it out!

$6.50 for black coffee. Get out with that nonsense. And I brought my own cup. Guy at the counter seemed extremely lazy and unhelpful. My first time there is my last time there

What a little gem. I easily had the best chicken salad bagel I did I had here, the coffee was fantastic and I loved the Italian soda. The underground space is heaps of fun and it’s so good to see a community minded cafe supporting artists in the area and from abroad. Viva Caffeine underground!

Stopped in today to support a friend. Was pleasantly surprised with the size of the space! People were very nice and quick. I didn’t order any food but I heard people around me and they sounded pleased. Place was clean and allowed ESAs. Note: Gender neutral restroom. It was a bit far from my usual area, but I’ll recommend to friends if they’re in the area.

Lovely, friendly and unpretentious neighborhood coffee shop. Affordable great food and drink with occasional live performances. What's not to like?!

Amazing spot! Great food, great people, killer music. Recommend taking advantage of their late night hours, the grilled cheese hits different at 8pm

barista was grumpy, but the bagel sandwich was great, and the place is kinda cozy. idk, normally I'd take mild disrespect personally but I recently lost somebody, and maybe he did too, or maybe he's just tired... never know what folks are carrying. 💚

I’ve lived in a few different spots in Bushwick, but no matter where I am, I’ll always make the walk to CU. The coffee and pastries are a perfect breakfast any day, owner is always delightful. Perfect place to bring friends for a meet-up or just sit and study.

I don’t like to give such a low rating but this place was very disappointing. It was filthy to say the lease. I ended up only getting a tea from the refrigerator because I didn’t not feel like it was sanitary to get anything else.

Ian was nothing short of amazing. The coffee A1 and the breakfast sandwich was great. The service was absolutely exceptional. Overall 10/10 experience and would recommend to anyone.

You can feel how special this place is from the moment you walk in. Art and witchy goods from independent artists adorn the walls, and the owner is incredibly kind. The egg sandwiches are also actually big enough to be a real meal, which is rare for a Brooklyn coffee shop. I'm smitten.

Tonight was my first time coming in, and I’m happy to say this is already my new favorite coffee shop! I love the fact that they’re open late and the atmosphere is immaculate. Fun and artsy decorations with plenty of interesting reads and board games. I saw that they host many unique events that I hope to attend in the future! The owner made my night and was very sweet, welcoming, and accommodating. I ordered an iced oat milk chai latte, and it was amazing and very reasonably priced. I went in to get a last-minute print as they have a printing station and get some work done, but I wouldn’t be able to think of a more ideal setting. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Absolutely fell in love with this ~underground~ coffee shop I happened to stumble upon my first day living in Bushwick. Can easily say coming here regularly has expanded my world. There are so many opportunities to find community within this eccentrically, decorated, homey nook in Brooklyn. One barista in particular, the lovely Hucks (Huxley), contributes immensely to the feel-good vibes Caffeine Underground warmly provides.
