Stumbled in here after the Q swept me into BKN directly after Canal St (go figure...I won't ask the MTA to explain their absurdities anymore 🙄) Alas, I digress! Hollow Nickel's got an awesomely rustic aura...almost like a Pirate Ship. Friggin' Sweet. The bartenders behind the Helm, Mark and Sancho, were laid back and amicable dudes, who made me feel right at home and ensured my glass was full. I didn't have the chance to try the food, because I was stuffed from a big, late lunch...so can't comment there. That being said, the Victory Pale Ale and Jame-o (or several, if I'm being truthful...) was all I needed to smooth out the 20 year ol' chip that lays atop my shoulder! Oh ... and Karate Kid on the Tube; Tom Petty on the Sonos ... Yep, this place is a Nickel plated with pure , 30-Karat Gold!

This is my kind of bar. No gimmicks, no frills, and no nonsense. If you're looking for a place to dance or play pool, this place isn't for you. If you're looking for a place to have a beer and some good conversations with strangers, then you should swing by. Probably the fairest priced beer in the area.

Great bar for a large group with a backyard patio space. They offered the private at no cost as well in early October for a group of around 30 people. Good vibes but a bit nippy so bring a jacket if you're planning the same

Service was great! The HN was more than I expected and just what I was looking for. Whoever recommended the Penicillin was on point. The pub fare was tasty, although i expected their spicy burger to be spicier, it has a slow after burn. The fried pickles were good, but recommend a different side. Bring friends, and stay for a few good drinks. I visited solo and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Cool, casual, unfussy, no fancy seating. Small, neighborhood type place. Bartender a lot of fun. Movie shown on tv screen by bar and on screen in back. Comfort food eats on menu, nice drink variety. Not hipster-ish. Prices good.

It's not really a dive-bar, but his dive-bar-ish vibes. I enjoy the drinks here. The selection is limited but the quality is good. For mixed drinks, I recommend the Penicillin. The outdoor patio is a comfortable place to hang out on cool nights.

This is our first time here, so far, it's happy hour so how wonderful! After meeting our cousin, we shared a meal and some drinks. Staff is helpful, kind, and layback. We loved the local bar feel of this bar and the folk who are on staff. Food was good, hot, and correct. We never felt rushed or hurried and will return someday.😃🍺

Of all the places I visited in NYC, this place made me feel the most at home. You know how sometimes you go to a place and feel right at home, like "If I lived here this would be my Cheers?" Yeah, it was like that.

Great bar, great outdoor space, sometimes when it's busy the bar gets a little overworked. Not a full restaurant but there's very good wings, fries, etc. I keep going back, big fan of the place.

Solid local dive with a good draft selection and great bar food (burger and fries!) Open decently late so is a feasible post-Barclays option, though kitchen may close earlier

Let's start with great happy hour pricing! We had pickle backs and plenty! They have board games available and a projector playing movies. Trendy , upbeat and friendly crowd! Great spot near transportation.

Best burgers you will ever have. Very chill place to hang out. They have indoor and outdoor dinning plus two big screens to watch movies. Great place to unwind on any day of the week.

Hollow Nickel is amazing. Terry helped me organize a private gathering for my family to celebrate our Mom’s life after her funeral mass. We had the entire bar and backyard to ourselves on a Saturday afternoon. We were a crowd of about 45 and the staff were amazing and went above and beyond. Shout out to Terry, Michele the bartender and the Chef – they are all rock stars! The food was fresh, delicious, beautifully presented and served by Terry non-stop throughout our event. In particular, the sliders were a huge hit and the fried pickles were addicting. Terry was not intrusive and super cool and calm with our big crowd who were hungry and thirsty....and the beer was nice and cold. The outdoor space was perfect in this COVID environment and we were grateful to be able to have a few drinks, eat wonderful food and be well taken care of by Hollow Nickel.

I really like this bar. There is a lot of choice for beer. You can be alone or part of the barstool crowd or you can sit near them and just drink in a really good bar.
