"The Met tour that Emily Sachar gave to our group was absolutely outstanding. Her in-depth knowledge of everything including the Impressionist artists and their works made our experience one we will always remember. It was terrific to be able to go through this amazing museum with someone of her talent and expertise. The four of us loved it all and are extremely grateful. Thanks so much!" Julie Range, Athens, GA

We had the great privilege of touring three different art museums with Emily – the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Frick Madison, and Museum of Modern Art. As an art enthusiast, I truly enjoy touring great museums with a knowledgeable guide. We could not have made a better choice than Emily. She and I communicated quite extensively before the trip, so that she could get a good idea of what our tastes were, and how to prioritize our time in these museums. Emily was very proactive in these communications, even sending me a few articles of interest before our trip began. For each of our three museum visits, Emily was waiting for us with tickets and a smile, ready to go. She did a wonderful job navigating our group through each museum, despite our varied interests and ages. Emily focused on the highlights of the museum, as well as any special requests we had made. But she was also invaluable in pointing out pieces that we would’ve otherwise overlooked. This is especially true at the Museum of Modern Art, where Emily somehow managed to get me to appreciate a more modern painting done in the 1960s that I would’ve completely ignored if left on my own. In summary, I encourage you to book Emily for an art tour. She will meet you wherever you are - if you know nothing about art, or if you’ve studied it quite a bit. She will greatly enhance your time and help you navigate these large collections more efficiently. We could not have been happier with the tours we took with her!

My three children and I have been lucky enough to have weekly museum tours with Emily for the last several months. Not only is Emily extremely knowledgeable—she can explain everything about each piece of art and its historical context—she is also kind and patient. Her tours of both the MoMA and the Met have been so informative and enjoyable! She is wonderful with my children, and they adore her. She plans the day’s curriculum in advance, even putting together scavenger hunts and games to help them learn about the art. They are so excited every week! I can’t recommend her highly enough.

Our Met tour with Emily exceeded our expectations, and I can highly recommend her services. Her knowledge was exceptional- both broad and deep. Exhibits that we had breezed past previously, became alive with descriptions and stories of their place in history. Emily is very customer focused; she tailored the discussion to our particular interests with built in tour flexibility. The gift of this private tour from our children was the ideal unique gift for my husband and me. Kudos!!

Communicated with Emily - very prompt response. Easy to work with via email. We were initially disappointed to hear Emily was not available for a tour of the MOMA the day we requested- but she offered to set us up with her colleague Virginia. I am thrilled to report that Virginia far exceeded our expectations! What a delight! We communicated our interests about what we hoped to get out of the tour and she knocked it out of the park! She put the paintings in historical context, gave fun back stories and had such a great energy and obvious love for the art- it really elevated the tour and made for a delightful experience. We are a group of 4 middle aged ladies who travel to NYC annually for a girls trip and our 2 hours with Virginia was one of the highlights of our trip! Highly recommend!

We did a wonderful tour of MOMA with Virginia - I can't speak highly enough about her. Her knowledge of the huge spectrum of art there was unparalleled, and the way she described the history and thematic origins of each artwork made it all come wonderfully alive. A fantastic experience!

I could not recommend Emily more highly. We spent two hours with her touring the highlights of the Museum of Modern Art on an exceedingly busy Sunday afternoon. Emily helped us to navigate the crowds brilliantly and delivered an exceptionally interesting, informative experience. Her knowledge of art and art history is vast, and she is able to communicate this efficiently, concisely, and colorfully. The two hours flew by. We were two moms with our two young adults; all of us walked away from the tour wowed by Emily and excited to visit another museum with her one day soon. I normally find experiences like this through word-of-mouth; this time I found Emily online and WOW did I ever luck out. She is an absolute gem and we would recommend her to young and old museum visitors alike!!!

We did a two-hour tour of the MOMA with Virginia. The tour was my gift to my mother for her birthday, and she was most interested in the fifth floor galleries, so that was the focus of our tour. I cannot say enough good things about Virginia. She is a wonderful guide. Her extensive knowledge of the art is impressive, and her enthusiasm is contagious. Her explanations of the history and significance of the works of art we explored were thorough and informative. I feel like I have such a deeper understanding of the iconic pieces of art we saw. She was a joy to be around, and I wouldn't hesitate to book another tour with her (or Heart of the Art) again.

We organized a tour of the Met to celebrate a birthday with extended family. Emily worked with us to plan the tour around our interests and desires. On the day of, Emily was there to greet us like she had known us forever, so kind and friendly. The tour was everything we were looking for- fast paced but incredibly insightful, packed with wonderful details only a skilled art historian could share. From descriptions of the works to provenance, she knew it all. Throughout, Emily kept it fun, made us smile and even managed to snap some pictures of the group. We HIGHLY recommend Heart of the Art NYC Tours. Emily and the tour were wonderful and we will be back!

I have visited MoMA on my own many times, but this was the first time with Emily. What a completely different and fascinating experience! She is incredible. Not only knowledgeable and insightful about modern art, but really fun to be with. She gave our group of 5 historical perspective of the works we viewed along with wonderful fun facts about each artist. I highly recommended Emily and will absolutely engage her again on my next trip to NYC. Read less

If you are looking for art tours in NYC, you can stop looking -- you've found the best one. I found Emily a few months back while looking to give my wife several art tours as a gift. Emily helped me pull together a special gift and we had the first tour today. Emily is a remarkably talented guide, combining both incredible knowledge with a gift for storytelling. We spent several hours today at the Met with Emily and she was able to make the tour interesting and engaging for both my wife, who has background in art history, and myself, an art novice. Emily deftly crafted an itinerary based on my wife's favorite types of art while also bringing to life pieces that we'd previously have walked by without any second thought. Truly cannot recommend Emily more highly enough. We have two more tours with her and are so, so excited.

Amazing tour! We requested a classy bachelorette tour about love and gender equality with the bride to be’s favorite paintings and art movements. Emily did such an amazing job giving us the tour, taking into account all our requests! It was so engaging and on theme throughout! If you have a classy bride who loves art, this is for sure the tour to do!

Last week I was lucky to accompany my grandchildren and friends to an excursion to the Met led by Emily. The kids were two seven year old boys, two five year old girls and one four year old girl. From the minute we met the kids were mesmerized. Emily arrived with clipboards, worksheets and colored pencils for everyone. We learned about art plus history, mythology, religion, architecture and so much more. Never once did the kids get wild or wander. Even after two hours they were still involved. I look forward to booking a tour for myself

Emily is definitely very knowledgeable about the pieces shown to us during our tour at MET. Though the tour was short (less than 2 hours due to our tight schedule), my friends and I learned and enjoyed so much that my friends said they were to keep in touch with Emily to come back not only themselves, but also to bring their children, for more sessions! Thank you Emily for a wonderful time with us on a nice Sunday afternoon! We have booked our 2nd tour with Emily already!

What a wonderful and educational 2 hours with Emily at the Jasper Johns exhibit at the Whitney. So many details about the artist and his works that one would never know without engaging Emily’s expertise. Thank you, thank you for opening my eyes to the fascinating world of Jasper Jones.

Having Emily with you at The Met is like travelling through the beauty of the ages with an intuitive guide. A great storyteller, she draws you into details you would have likely missed on your own. Expert knowledge aside, Emily made our group feel at ease immediately with her friendly rapport. A gem!

I booked two tours with Heart of the Art NYC as a present for my husband's "special" birthday. We went with Virginia to MoMA and Emily to The Met. Emily helped arrange everything for us and worked around a conflict after we had already scheduled. Virginia and Emily are professional, knowledgeable, personable and the nicest people! Heart of the Art NYC is not a cookie-cutter experience. Highly recommend!!

Emily from Heart of the Art is a true gem. She makes you believe in the power of the NYC experience. My mom and my husband felt so special while they were with Emily. She is personable, engaging and extremely knowledgeable and warm. We will definitely be booking more tours with Emily and Heart of the Art.

Beyond amazing!! That is the only way I can describe Miss Emily and her incredible art classes. I have known her and her businss for about 2 years and every class I leave knowing a whole lot more than I did before. Not only does she do virtual classes but also museum tours. She is an expert in her field and will make sure that no question goes unaswered. She adheres to all artistic interests, even covered from the classics all the way to egyptian and greek sculptures. The service she provides is truly priceless! There is nothing like Heart of the Art NYC!

Our family of 4 did a tour of Moma with Emily during our last- minute trip to NYC in August this year. Emily was very kind to work us into her busy schedule and make time for us. She even managed to get us into the Moma on Monday morning during members' hours so we can the place practically to ourselves. It was great to stand along in front of Starry night and be able to enjoy it by ourselves! Emily was very friendly and informative and we really enjoyed our tour.

My grandson and I had a most delightful tour of The Met with Emily. She customized the tour exactly to fit our time and his interests. Her knowledge of exhibits was incredible, and her enthusiasm for The Met was a joy. My grandson loved it, and I just kept thinking, "Gee, I didn't know that!"

Art Appreciation for All Ages How do you get a 10 year old to enjoy the MET as much as the LEGO store? You hire Emily. Emily has an engaging manner to make the story behind the painting come alive to all ages. My son had completed a book report from a Monet Biography for school, so I wanted him to see some of the paintings in person. She took him on a journey of some other art to help him then appreciate aspects of the Monet paintings to appreciate them more. She reinforced key ideas as she interacted with him. I learned a lot as well! He had also wanted to see some Egyptian pieces, and she was able to easily transition to those as well to make the stories come alive. He gave her a 9 out of 10 - only because he wanted to see even more!

Emily Sachar not only kept us (adults) engaged, but had our children 6/9 rapt for two hours. She paced our expedition at the Met perfectly. I couldn’t recommend her more highly. We will do this again !

Emily did an incredible job for my sister's Bachelorette. We did a tour of the Met, and she formulated a custom tour based on romance (and based on where members of the party were from). She was also excellent to communicate with before the date itself. Numerous people have mentioned it as a highlight of the weekend. Would absolutely recommend!

Our tour of the Met with Emily was fantastic. We had our 11 and 12 year old children with us and Emily did a wonderful job keeping them engaged and interested. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the Met’s collection and our tour was an interactive experience full of questions, answers, and conversations about what we were seeing. Emily made sure we saw the highlights but also gave us the flexibility to choose which galleries to see. She even went as far as to track down a specific painting in the maze of galleries my husband wanted to see! I would highly recommend Emily to anyone looking for a guided tour of the Met!

We had a great afternoon with Emily yesterday. While she SAID she hadn't done a tour of the new MOMA O'Keefe exhibit - you wouldn't have known it. Just the right amount of depth and she was knowledgeable and engaging!

Emily provided a private tour of the MET with a focus on The American Wing and 19th century works, most notably by Frederic Church, for members of The Olana Partnership. Emily was timely, very engaging, highly informative, and communicated art historical terms with a lot of clarity. The tour was great, and I would highly recommend Heart of the Art NYC for all your touring needs!

Emily was the most wonderful guide, with such precious stories that brought the museum to life. We had a great time learning secrets of the museum while appreciating art in various forms. The whole tour felt really special and conspiratorial, which I think is absolutely the best way to experience a place filled with such history and heritage. If you have the luxury of time, I'd say visit the museum once by yourself and then book a tour with Emily. You'll learn so much when you experience the museum in such different ways, and you get to ask her any questions you might have from the past visit. But if you're short on time, go straight to Emily and you won't regret!
