I came for the pysanky eggs and supplies in the gift shop, and toured the small museum as well. The real attraction are the eggs. I am excited to get better at the art of wax dyed eggs. Saddened that I was made aware of the museum and eggs because of what’s happening in Ukraine. What a terrible thing and I am so sorry for all who have family and friends there now.

A hidden gem of a museum that I happened to see while searching for museums in the area. It's well worth a visit and easily spend 1-2 hours here exploring, understanding and taking in all the different exhibits and pieces. The museum showcases a variety of Ukrainian artists that highlight the past but also current events. A mix of different mediums from photographs, textiles, drawings, movies/short films. Reasonable admission fee as well and you can store a bag at the front desk.

After a meal at a neighborhood restaurant a visit to this small yet interesting museum would be a good idea. In light of current events one may find the exhibits here fascinating.

A fun place to visit with friends and family. They have a bunch of different artwork on display on three different floors at the Ukrainian Museum. The price to get in wasn't very expensive, and the staff here were all very friendly. I had a very nice time perusing the artwork with my friends. If you're looking for something relaxing and educational to do in the city, I recommend stopping by the Ukrainian Museum.

A true hidden gem in the East Village. So much to see and learn at this museum. It’s useful that the exhibits have been updated to reflect current events, and there is a full room dedicated to showing large photographs of what’s going on. There are three levels to this museum, and you could easily spend 1-2 hours here. The more interesting are the ground floor and second floor exhibits.

What a treasure this museum is. I expected eggs and embroidery, but there is so much more. First of all, though, the eggs are magnificent. There is a short film showing how they are painted. What skill! What imagination! What struck me most about the embroidery is the rich and unusual use of color. And besides these two crafts there were excellent paintings, mostly representational, with an emphasis on flowers. And some really beautiful kilim. Go! You won't regret it!!!

Wonderful museum! Learned much about the beautiful Native people of Ukraine! Amazing how much they have in common with the native people of North America!

I think I read about the Prymachenko exhibit in The New Yorker . It is definitely worth a visit. Her colors are amazing . I would like to know more about the symbols in the paintings . I’m assuming the beasts are Russian aparatchiks .

Love Ukraine but this museum was a total letdown. Perhaps they have better exhibits at other times, but what I saw was childish art in the main galleries and only in the small basement was there anything that looked even remotely Ukraine related. The museum shop had many times more Ukrainian items than the museum itself, so maybe just go there. Disappointing.

Amazing cultural gem. A must see if you are ethnically Ukrainian, as I am. They have an exhibit creatively depicting the current war in Ukraine. In my opinion, this museum succinctly captures the vibrancy of Ukrainian culture.

It might not be the best or the most impressive of its kind but it’s definitely a worth stop-by. A small but very distinctive selection of pieces on the second floor and the basement floor came as an unexpected surprise. One of the hidden gems of East Village.

This museum in the LES takes about an hour to visit all three floors and there's a lot of interesting artwork. You couldn't avoid contemporary mentions of Russia's invasion, but there was also plenty of folk art that really captures the essence of Ukrainian culture. For newcomers, a bit more context and history could've been useful, but I had a good time walking around and seeing stuff.

Beautifully handcrafted traditional dresses, amazing artwork, and colorfully painted eggs. Our Ukrainian exchange daughter was so proud to describe the exhibits to us. The highlight for me was an art exhibit in which Nikita Kravtsov, a Ukrainian artist from Crimea, reinterpreted Heorhii Narbut's version of the traditional Slavic folklore The War of the Mushrooms. This reinterpretation is a powerful commentary on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

A beatiful place to visit to understand both ancient and modern Ukrainian art and culture. I couldn't just let the country be a place I only hear about daily during this tragic war, but a culture I could take time to learn about directly. The egg collection alone is worth a taxi from anywhere in New York. The go around the corner and east a superb Ukrainian lunch at Veselka or the Ukrainian Home.

It's a good museum although small. There are three exhibits--a large space on the ground floor, and two smaller spaces on the third floor and in the basement (both accessible by elevator, though there are no stairs to the basement). The staff at the museum were very kind. I really enjoyed the current exhibit of naive art by Maria Prymachenko. You will need about an hour to visit.

The museum was spacious and I really appreciate that when browsing art pieces. I loved the experience taking the suggestions from the woman working the front desk. She was incredibly helpful and I felt at peace here. There are plenty of gems in the gift shop that are not easily to locate elsewhere. Definitely will be coming back and taking my mom with me next time.

A small and quiet museum, located right next to east village - which makes it a good place to visit when weather is not ideal, or when curiosity wonders.

Although it's small it's worth visiting if you are in the area. There were two collections when I visited this museum. Art work descriptions are extensive, in large font, easy to read and bilingual. Very friendly staff. Expect to spend 30min - 1h at the museum.

At the time of the visit, they only had paintings. I came to learn the history of Ukraine and instead just viewed Ukrainian paintings. They were beautiful and loved the easter eggs. Very detailed as well as their clothing.

Nice, clean, new museum, and its ticket price is very reasonable. It would be better if there are more pieces and more explanations on each piece.

fascinating place for history lovers. the individuality of each of these small museums spread across the city, in history it shows we havent diverted much as humans from times to times or having a different race as a differential. will keep visiting new ones. one of the reasons you must to love this place

Wonderful (quite small) museum I visited in Feb 2018. An interesting overview over Ukrainian culture and art, especially pattern and embroidery. I often think of this visit in these times as I often think about my visits in Ukraine. Who wants to know about this country, its culture and people should visit.

Ukrainian Museum is a mini museum with 2 floors. Arts on the 2nd one and on the 1st floor it has a dark room with videos of moments of the war and a small room with photos of the war.

This is an excellent small museum. As of April 2019, the main gallery on the first floor has an exhibit of Ukrainian history (the struggle for independence circa 1917-1921), the second floor exhibit covers Ukrainian Easter eggs and wooden churches, and the basement gallery has exhibits on traditional hats and head coverings as well as an interactive art display. There are bilingual exhibit labels throughout the museum. The small gift shop has a nice selection of books and other items. I definitely enjoyed the 75 minutes I spent here.

? ? Happy ??? Thanksgiving 19. The Ukrainian Museum is located at 222 East 6th Street in the East Village of Manhattan, New York City. The museum is open from 11:30 AM to 5 PM, and there is an admission price of $8.00. The Ukranian Museum's Building itself is quite impressive for a small building. There are various types of arts throughout the museum. The lady at the entrance is very pleasant and friendly.

Even though I've lived in the East Village for almost 6 months now, I did not know of this place until my friend brought me here, and I was pleasantly surprised. Sadly, it was very empty for a weekend afternoon, but the staff was kind, and as someone who knew very little about Ukrainian history and culture, it was a worthwhile time learning.

I feel kind of silly writing a review for a museum because you sort of know what to expect and exhibitions change often so anything that I really enjoyed may be gone when you read this and decide to go. That being said I feel like the Ukrainian museum does an excellent job of showcasing aspects of Ukrainian culture - whatever on display is interesting and well curated. It's a small museum - don't expect to spend more then two hours (and that's if you're a big fan) but that makes it accessible. Drop in on a quiet afternoon and learn something.

Ukrainian Museum, thank you for your support of Crimean Tatar People. Our family visited The Genocide 1944 exhibition. It's unbelievable tragedy of whole world. It should not repeat ever with nobody.
