My friend and I walked in for drinks while exploring a bit of Brooklyn. The bartender was stand-off-ish from the start and automatically made us feel unwelcome. She was extremely friendly with a group of white older men at the end of the bar and ignored us after our first round. My friend asked the bartender for a second drink, but the bartender looked her straight in the eyes and walked away. The bartender then continued to chitchat with the group of men as she laughed with them and said, “I’m not racist, BUT….. “ and said something racist. She then helped someone else (also white) as she turned her back on us, pretending we weren’t there. We walked in loving the architecture and what we thought would be a great neighborhood bar and walked out feeling racially profiled and discriminated against. I wasn’t shocked to see all the bad reviews are from non-white folks. What a shame.

Last night while at the bar I noticed the manager throwing a absolute hissy fit, yelling, making a scene and kicking out a young man who was minding his business the whole night. The bartenders were also quite rude. Drinks on the expensive side. Definitely won’t be back.

Cash only. It's got great ambiance; dark wood bar and iron bars on the windows. The drinks are cold and lush. Barbra Streisand and Jay Z may have had a drink there.

Disappointing and Unacceptable: A Racist Experience at Brooklyn Inn I regret to say that my recent visit to Brooklyn Inn was nothing short of a deeply disturbing and profoundly racist experience. It is disheartening to encounter such blatant discrimination and prejudice in a supposedly inclusive and welcoming establishment. From the moment I entered the bar, I noticed an unsettling atmosphere that was dismissive and unfriendly towards individuals who did not fit into a particular racial profile. The staff's behavior was shockingly discriminatory, as they showed blatant favoritism towards customers of a specific race. I strongly advise against patronizing Brooklyn Inn.

The bar didn't have ingredients for a Paralyzer (milk) so the bartender Mark made us Mind Erasers (vodka, coffee liqueur and club soda) that were so delicious. He lost in a shot contest with my niece. Great guy and we had lots of fun. Nice rooms in the back for being a cozy group or shooting some pool.

I experienced racism & discrimination at this bar. Reading other comments it’s clear that this is how they train their staff. The bartender called me out specifically, the only black person in the bar. He was extremely rude and patronizing but not rude to my white girlfriend. The Brooklyn Inn is an actively, intentionally racist place.

i never write reviews and i don't even mind rude service but this was another level of disrespectful. dont come here if ur not a mean and bitter old man. i see all these five star reviews talking about cocktails, we asked about them and were told they don't serve any. just being rude for no reason.

Hands down one of the most chill, amazing, super old world bars in NYC. Not having a pint here (or a cocktail) is borderline criminal as it’s that special. Be sure to tip well!

Fantastic bar with historic fixtures. Feels like it could be the 1890s in there. Great place to hang out.. Hope to go back soon

completely joyless establishment with racist bartenders who get off on policing anyone who’s not an old white man. if you’re a young woman or a woman of color or god forbid, a young woman of color, or have a state ID (literally federally accepted!) don’t bother giving these people your money

One of Brooklyn’s oldest bars and one of our personal favorite watering holes! Friendly laid back bartenders in an old school cozy and chill atmosphere. We invite all our friends here to share a drink or two together.

Bar tender was a bit rude and didn’t accept my NYC ID, only my drivers license. “NYC IDs are for people who are undocumented and stuff.” Don’t see myself going back. Although the cider from the tap was, normal.

I'm not a huge fan of BK but this bar is AMAZING. it's the oldest bar in Brooklyn. Must go. Pool table in the back!

One of the best dive bar out there. One of the oldest bar (if not the oldest) in Brooklyn, worth a stop just to see the building and space. And there is a pool table in the back. The atmosphere is good, the music not too loud and the pours are generous.

Awesome place, great staff, great drink options, really cool interior. Only downside are the mosquitos from under the outside deck when you sit outside. Still a great place though.

A True Brooklyn Staple. This place is the most comfortable neighborhood bar. You feel like you’re in some epic love story every time you go

Dark, dank and dreary, and I wouldn't want it any urge way! No TVs, no music. Just a great place to meet up with friends and share a few beers.

Great tenders, good selection of beer, historic Brooklyn location. One trip and it's become one of my favorite haunts.

Bar is nice and beautiful. Pool table is good when it works. I have a question - why are white liberal neighborhoods full of bigots. Why do these so called progressive hoods have a problem when brown and black people come through. Side eyes 👀 the whispers and of course my favorite the surprised looking face. This spot is not the only one in this area that claims to be progressive attract people of color to come out and enjoy a night and have a rude bartender act like I’m in south Brooklyn. Talk about conservatives all you want but the same shizz happens in places like this as well. The bartender on Sunday’s is quite the representation of what is wrong with this bar. Treat people the way you neo liberals want to be treated. People of color beware.

Stopped in for a couple drinks and had a great evening. Super cozy neighborhood pub with affordable drinks, a pool table, and friendly staff. Will definitely be back often.

Classic bar, amazing vibe, solid and affordable drinks, feels as old as it is (I believe it is one of the first bars established in Brooklyn).

What a find! This place is a dream bar to have in your neighborhood. Very high ceilings, intricate adornments, tiny rooms and a beautiful long bar with stools with back support (i know i sound old, but it makes a difference). The venue has a lot of character and the drinks were great. I went at night and it was a fun vibe, I bet it's a great place to go during the day too.

I grew up in the neighborhood but never got around to grabbing a drink here until a few weeks ago. I actually went twice in the same week & the first time I had a really unpleasant experience with the same bartender that seems to be mentioned repeatedly. I asked him for a water pitcher which was directly next to him already filled (after very patiently waiting for his attention) and he snapped at me as if I asked him the craziest burdening task. Also didn’t hand it to me and told me to wait for his coworker. His attitude was aggressive and unnecessary. If you hate your job leave it, it’s really that simple. Second time I went back the older woman bartender was really sweet, and balanced a busy night with ease. She made my second experience much better!

Awesome local hang. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The decor is old school Brooklyn saloon, in an out of the way quiet area. Perfect.

Having a drink at this bar feels like traveling back to the 1800s. It is all about ambiance and friendly neighborhood service in this gorgeous relic.
