Good and fast service. Inventive menu, well executed. I'm infatuated with the guacamole because of the complex spices and the delicious chips. The portions were good: the tacos, while expensive, are large and filling. The outdoor seating is pleasant, especially on Dean Street which is sheltered and quieter.

We order some dishes to share (guac, queso, ceviche), were tasty. The the octopus-pork have good combination of flavors. The duck have a bit too much spicy to really enjoy the duck flavor. The drinks were really good. In general good experience, but a bit expensive. They have a nice outside space and the service was really attentive.

Alta Calidad is definitely in my top mexican restaurant experiences in NYC. Initially, upon arriving, I found the place a bit unassuming and not having the best ambiance, but the margarita was already a good mind-changer. The food overall was good, with the shrimp tempura tacos definitely being the highlight of my experience. It is simply divine. The guacamole and salsa chips plus the dessert were not at the same level, but very good. Good job!

Went with my husband yesterday for brunch. I ordered the pumpkin flower quesadilla which the menu says is made with Oaxaca cheese. It was most certainly NOT Oaxaca cheese. Oaxaca cheese is bright white, even after being heated. You can see from the picture a piece I cut that the color is not what it should be. The cheese did not stretch/stringy either which Oaxaca cheese does. The most frustrating moment for me was when I asked the server what Chihuahua Cheese is. I wouldn't have mind if they said they didn't know and needed to check with the chef. But her response to me was "it's a type of cheese" 😳. It is? Wow I had no idea. The guacamole was good and my husband's brisket tacos were tasty. But the Tajin on the nachos wasn't necessary and could have been served on the side. That said, we won't be going back. The food was not high quality or 'alta calidad' at all.

This is some great Mexican food! Every meal has been great - all of their tacos, huevos rancheros and carrot cake tres leches are unreal, and chilaquiles look great. Really nice outdoor setup, esp on weekends, plus a cute inside. Service can be a little off but still good overall.

Delicious Mexican neighborhood gem in Prospect Heights! Wow! From the tacos to the asparagus to the corn to the rice & beans, everything hit the spot! Absolutely delicious and so happy I wandered in here.

Great service and quality food and drinks. Have had this on my list for a while! The chips and guacamole were above average - very picky with guac and this one passed the test for sure. Flavorful and a good mix of smooth and chunky. The octopus and pork belly dish was INCREDIBLE - loved the little skewer it came on, small bites but it packed a savory punch. The standout of the night was the tres leches carrot cake, so so moist and yummy. I would come back just for the carrot cake! Tacos were decent but the octopus stood out.

The food was pretty good. Highly recommend doing a reservation b/c it was extremely busy. Outside of a broken dish that they shouldn’t have served food in, it was a great time. The Spicy pineapple margarita was good too.

My Program Director invited me for a belated Birthday lunch at Alta Calidad in Brooklyn. Description: As per google: “A Mexican restaurant that offers tacos, Mexican small plates & shareable main dishes in an energetic setting with communal seating.” I highly recommend this place. 10/10.

Nice atmosphere and good food. A person in my party has some allergies and I was very surprised to see the chef come over and talk to them, basically designing a custom taco. Clearly the team cares about the quality of the food and that came through, it's delicious. Good spot for a more casual date, excellent spot for a hang with friends.

I really love this Mexican near my house. It’s kind of fancy, but not too fancy. So you can go casual for a more anytime kind of meal, or throw on a nice shirt and treat it as a date night. The cocktails are awesome. I love their margaritas. The tacos come two to an order, so get a few kinds and have a shared taco platter. So good. I like their guacamole too.

The vegetarian tacos with pea shoots were delicious! $16 is a little steep for 2 tacos, but I’d eat them again. Also the service was very friendly and attentive and there were plenty of open tables for walkins before 6pm (though it was packed when I walked by around 8pm).

We’ve come here randomly over the years since it’s opened. Sometimes it’s completely booked. On the first warm spring night (a Tuesday), it wasn’t! We had the halloumi quest fundido (delicious!) and two different tacos (pea shoots/chick peas and the oregano chicken. They were both good but I found the chicken tacos more to my liking. The frozen of the day was cucumber Serrano pepper. Have several - you’ll enjoy the medium light spice level and round cucumber flavor in the background. And to top it off, the service from everyone was friendly and attentive.

Everything here deserves 5 stars - the food is delicious, the staff is nice and attentive, the restaurant itself is cute and clean. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because of the cost of everything - $16 for two tacos (with no add ons like rice or beans) seemed a little high, especially since you’re not started with chips or anything of any kind. If you do want the chips, they are $18. I got two kinds of tacos since I didn’t think one dish would be enough (one dish comes with 2), and they were delicious. They were the slow cooked brisket tacos and the roasted fish tacos.

VERY disappointed... from the moment we entered with our party of eight, with a reservation - the staff was not welcoming at all. After telling one women the party name, she told us we would be sitting at a specific table for 8, where there was someone sitting... the rest of the restaurant was practically empty. But according to her, they were "fully booked" at we couldnt sit at another open table because of that. SO we waiting for the ONE person to get up... Upon seating the waitress, was stiff and unfriendly...she proceeded to take half of our tables drink order, then walked away. When she returned we asked if the rest could ordered, and she looked at us..annoyed. We proceeded to order drinks (which were actually good) and ordered. The appetizers were..ok. But the entrees came out so soon after the appetizers we barely had a second to breathe. A few of us had simple modifications, like sauce on the side. And that was not done. The portion sizes were very small, and it seemed like anything we asked for, we were annoying them. It was our friends birthday, so it was very disappointing. Oh, and in the time we were there - those "reserved" tables never got sat.

Rude and poor service. One server was super passive aggressive; unfriendly attitude throughout, clearing out the table and other people’s plates when one person was still eating, took away a dish that was not finished yet without asking, and as soon as the last person finished her food the waitress came to throw a check on the table. There were tables empty and no line of people waiting so it was hard to understand the rush to urge us to leave. I recommend this place if you want a dining experience that is the opposite of relaxing and chill. The food was okay, a bit overpriced for the quality, portion and service you are (not) getting.

Way overpriced. $10 per taco and they are small. I ordered the guacamole and chips. The chips were too salty and spicy. Guacamole was good. If you don't like spicy food don't come here. I also ordered yuca tots. They were bland. Lastly I ordered brisket tacos. They were too fatty. If you like red mole you will like these. I do not like mole and no where on the menu did it say mole on the taco. I wouldn't have ordered it otherwise. My husband ordered the chicken milinesa sandwich. It was really small and chicken was overcooked. Overall a waste of $70. We left hungry and very unsatisfied. The service was OK we had to flag down the waitress to order. She was nice but couldn't answer simple questions about the menu like "is this spicy". The place was very small and some tables were cafeteria style. So if you're looking for a romantic place you could end up eating shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Not my vibe.

Good drinks, good food. Watch out if you have allergies. We told them our friend had a nut allergy and they still put nuts in her food. She took one bite, realized, and spent the night in the ER. Unacceptable after telling them, please watch out for these things.

INCREDIBLE yuca tots and great service. Everything else was mediocre. The outdoor seating is boring and my beef brisket taco was good, but a little dry. I also came here for my friend’s birthday and when I reserved our seat online, I asked for a birthday dessert to be brought out. I thought maybe this dessert would be on the house considering that it was her birthday and all, but they charged me full price for it. It’s not a big deal, but it would have made me want to come back if it had been offered free of charge. Either way, if I come back it’s hands down for the yuca tots.

Came here for an early dinner before going to a show at the Barclay center. The food was great, and the service was friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend trying this place out. A+

I stopped in by myself and they immediately sat me. My drink was a perfect mezcal cocktail and my food came out very quickly. I walk by this place all the time and they are typically super busy so I’m glad I came in on a slower night of the week. This was a perfect place to dine alone, read my book, and enjoy an elevated Mexican dinner. This place really lives up to its name, Alta Calidad (high quality) and the music also created a nice atmosphere.

The staff, food, and drinks are incredible. While reservations are recommended, I've been able to grab a last minute seat a few times. The food has a different take on Mexican food (that I've seen in the neighborhood) and the service is relatively fast. Great indoor/outdoor seating options and perfect for a casual night with friends or date night.

The brunch quesadilla was unexpectedly one of the best bites of food - it had exactly what one wants from a quesadilla plus incredible flavor and varied textures - but every bite of food we had was amazing. Attentive and thoughtful service. Look forward to eating more meals here.

Love Alta Calidad! Best tacos I've had in this part of Brooklyn. Great cocktails too. I don't love corn but the corn was so flavorful and good that I enjoyed it a lot! I could eat here every week.

Went in around 4pm after an afternoon in Prospect Park. This was perfect lunch on a hot day. We had the shrimp tempura tacos, fish tacos, and yuca tater tots. Everything was so fresh! Sitting outside on a Sunday is the best move. There was live music just a few feet from the restaurant awesome vibe!

Delicious drinks and dinner in a light, fun atmosphere. Highly recommend the pineapple spicy margarita, fish tacos, yuca tots, and queso fundido—so tasty! Shrimp tacos were good but came with a lot of fried breading. I'll be back soon!

Got the shrimp tempura tacos and al pastor. Both were pretty dang great. Can't wait to go back.

The location and the ambience are excellent. The squash blossom quesadilla was delicious; however, the server did not check back on us after giving our food, so we couldn’t order another. In fact, it took quite an effort to get their attention and ask for the check. The other items we tried were very creative but not well-executed. Beef adobo tacos: the adobo was delicious, but it made the tortillas soggy! Pea shoot tacos: the pea shoots weren’t cooked well, so they were difficult to bite off without dismantling the taco completely. Fish tacos: the fish was not very fresh.

Relaxed Mexican Restaurant. Tacos, quesadillas, and yucatots were all pretty tasty. Portions are on the smaller side. Staff is super friendly and attentive. Drinks are great!

It's all in the name! First recommendation - make a reservation! We didn't and we went there on a Friday night. They were all booked up but the fantastic host, working his literal cape, fit us in and we sat at the high top inside. The food was AH-MAZING! I had the limeade, guacamole, the brussel sprouts, and grilled fish tacos. Everything was more delicious than the last thing. I was afraid to eat anything else because I was afraid to ruin the previous thing. But I was not disappointed! Definitely a new favorite for me, can't wait to go back! P.S. we tried the desserts but honestly our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we couldn't make it through lol

Please bring these tacos back!!!! I used to come here specifically for these tacos because I’m vegan and you guys took them off the menu and I’m devastated lol I would always tell people, This is my favorite dish in New York city. I tried the beet tacos with mushrooms, but they don’t compare. My first time eating these chickpea tacos was at my proposal. (Yes, my husband supposed to me here in 2022 because I loved these tacos so much) 😭 my husband and I would come here every month to get these and now you guys don’t have them. Please bring them back. 😢♥️
