I’m only hesitant to give this spot 5 stars because I want to save it for myself. BierWax is a top notch taproom serving some of New York’s finest beers and spinning the best music from east to west. The bartenders here were very helpful and friendly. There is plenty of space inside and there’s a massive patio inside. Mark my words, this place will be on the map next summer if it hasn’t been already. Even if you aren’t a beer nerd, they sell vinyl record on their off hours from around 4pm to 8pm! Lastly, they have a very clean bathroom with nice beer decor.

Absolutely one of the best bars in Crooklyn!! Great selection of beers, an absolutely diverse and grand selection of vinyl that’s enjoyed at the perfect volume without being overbearing. The staff is amazing and very well tuned with the rotations of craft brews. There is amazing artwork showcasing the hip hop influenced bar and you’ll especially feel the energy if you visit on a night where they have one of their many dj’s cutting up some wax.

They list their menu on Untappd, so I came to try two specific drinks. I told the bartender the two (one draft IPA, one canned cider), but I'd arrived 5 minutes before close, so unsurprisingly she told me said she'd already cleaned up the taps for the night. She still served me the can, and told me no rush even as I nursed it 30 minutes past closing time. In fact, she surprised me by handing me a complimentary small pour of the draft I wanted, thanks!

It was my very first time here, I was a featured performer painting live. I had a fantastic time. The beers (biers) were so good, so good. The music was very good with A1Supreme and Seven7. The bouncer and the staff were all friendly and warm. The clients were nice and lovers of the place. I spoke to a couple that was already acquainted with the place's history. 5,000 records by the bar and 2,000 in the basement. A gentleman named Carlito, cool dude, shared the story of how the place came together. I felt very much at home and, thanks to DJ A1Supreme, I will come back again, for sure. I highly recommend this place.

I have been meaning to visit this spot for months, maybe even a year. This spot provides you with good bar seating & high chair/table seating near the bar. The space is tight. It’s got a cute backyard & front seating space. The ambiance is lovely w/ all the records & signage. I had one cider which was lovely, I enjoyed that the bartender asked what I was in the mood for & helped me find something that I’d like. I do wish they had more in terms of food/snacks but they’re not a restaurant.

My favorite beer place in Brooklyn! The 🍻 is very tasty, and the vibe is very Brooklyn 😃! They also have great DJ! I love the outdoor seating in the back, which has a bunch of grape wines. 🍇 The only down side is that the beer is a little bit pricey, but you can save some credit card fee if pay with 💵

Start off with the Gabaghoul by KCBC, then Nectaron by Wayward Lane, eventually finish with Timber Ales Fields of Fall which is almost like a sipping cognac. Ask Fred for advice, water and any queries concerning the music playing. They really spin vinyl here. Dec 14th celebrated 6 years of continuous running. All the staff were celebrating with the owners. It was a good night.

Not sure what kind of happy hour you're into, but this place set my Wednesday evening off perfect. Great selection of beers on tap, bartender was warm & friendly, music was golden era hip hop, artwork was on point, and I even met the owner who seemed like a real good dude. Definitely adding this place to my rotation of Brooklyn beer spots.

Great little spot with a rotating draft list and incredible vinyl records playing some hits. They have a great back patio. Love going here for a couple beers before going out on Vanderbilt for the night. Love the divy, music forward vibe of this spot. Can't wait to go again!

I finally stepped into this fresh little bar that happens to be right next door to my local laundromat. Great vibes. Great music. Great drinks (craft beers & cocktails). The decor is on point. There is a nice little backyard setup with tables. The music is the real star here, but the layout, paintings, decor and cleanliness are a close second. I finally found a cool local bar!

Outstanding and thoughtful curated list of beers. Caring service by Fred, who took the time to share his passion and perspective on the brews, as well as generous recommendations about other neighboring tap lists. Fun ambiance with walls covered in vinyls, CDs, and Star Wars figurines. Will definitely go back.

I'm not a beer drinker, but this has become my go-to place. Large beer menu, so large that even I have found a few beers that I now love. They also serve liquer. They always have music playing (vinyl). The last time I was there, they were playing a classic Al Green and Herbie Hancock record. They also have great DJs some evenings. They do not serve food, but you can bring your own or have it delivered. Great chill spot where you can avoid the super young party crowd.

Great vibes. Love the outdoor seating in the back with the grapevines overhead. Shout out to Fred for being a great bartender. Hope to come back for another round next time I’m in the neighborhood 🙌

Mixing two of my life's greatest loves, Hip-Hop and beer, Bierwax is home to a super knowledgeable and friendly staff. I've had great conversation every time I've visited. They usually carry about 12 draft beers from local and independent brewers. They also have a hand selected bottle and can selection while supplies last. They don't have a kitchen, but that's for the better. They focus on what they specialize in.

BierWax was the best bar experience I've had in a long time! They curate and serve really good and authentic craft beer, and my bartender, Shea, who was an absolute sweetheart, made for the best experience. They play the best music the OG way - only CDs and vinyl records - we're talking old school hip hop, soul, R&B, and downtempo. Overall, they really live up to the hipster-y vibe of Brooklyn. I cannot recommend this place more!

The owner turned his vinyl collection into a cozy, welcoming nook. Great atmosphere regardless of the time of day, and not to mention great music. You can still have conversations while enjoying the curated soundtrack of the night, and they highlight whatever record is playing behind the bar, so you don't have to ask, "Hey, who's this?" It's a great neighborhood hang with a niche feel.

The atmosphere in this place was amazing, 10/10. Great local craft beers, and a DJ playing through a massive collection of rare golden era NYC hip hop on wax. 6/5 stars if I could. Well done.

Quality: Hard not to be a fan of a beer bar that cares about music almost as much as beer. They had a solid draft beer list, focused on local options, but also a full bar menu for folks that prefer wine or cocktails. They also have vinyls for sale, and were playing excellent music throughout our visit.

Super cool bar with nice decor and great service. I cheated and got some cider (San Sebastian vibes), but will be back for a beer!
