This is a must for all Metal Heads who are in the area or passing through. The owner Jimmy is a good guy and I always run into to familiar faces and make new friends here. So much memorabilia from bands are all over the place and they even have some guitars on display, including a Bass guitar that was owned by Peter Steele of Type O Negative(see my pics). Duffs also host a celebration of Peter's life every April.

This bar is brilliant. It’s absolute metal and fits every beautiful stereotype it should. The music is loud, fast, and heavy. The lighting is all red and and fits the room so well. There’s a massive collection of signed drum heads from all of the metal greats, legends, and current rockers. Photos and backstage passes are all over the walls. Staff is friendly and firm. Clientele talks rock and roll but is generally welcoming to strangers. It would be foolish not to wear black to the bar but every metalhead knows that. A gem of Brooklyn nightlife. Beer list is adequate and shots are great. They feature totally reasonable prices and it’s a very short walk from the subway. They offer cool bar merch to purchase. It’s not uncommon for patrons to scream along with the stereo. Really a gem of a rock and roll establishment.

Nice place for heavy metal death/Gothic Bartenders are super friendly, drinks are cheap, beer ice cold, music loud, but you can go to the back where you can sit and have a conversation with your friends or people you meet there, they have an old school jukebox where you can play your music, CD are changed once a month so each month you find new albums there, some creepy decoration items here and there, decoration is just amazing all the items displayed are signed by artists from drum heads, guitars, concert tickets and so on, no food tho but they allow you to get food from outside, best option is the dollar slice pizza up the corner. I've seen and met all kinds of people there, so i assume it's also LGBTQ friendly for the folks who are wondering, since I've seen some people who identify as. Having a drink and laugh, this is the place to go to have fun meet new people

Great staff, reasonable prices, and I can enjoy a beer without having to listen to Drake on repeat. Awesome dark atmosphere and great music. I really wish they had more bars like this in NYC.

My all-time favorite dive metal bar. I felt like and 17 year old again. OMG, the best collection of metal and music I have ever seen. A must go if you're in Brooklyn .

If you want heavy metal, this is the place. I thought I was into heavy metal because I listened to Black Sabbath. I was wrong. That is elevator music compared to what this place is churning out. Very cool decor in this place. Just nothing else like it in any bar I've ever been to, which is awesome. They have a coffin, a barber chair, AND an electric chair. How's that? It's a small joint, everyone seemed very knowledgeable about their metal, and the PBRs were so inexpensive I don't even recall paying for any. This place is a MUST experience if you like to rock.

I don't go to many bars, but this is the bar I would go to on a regular basis. It's not too crazy, but definitely not quiet so its perfect. The atmosphere, the people, and the music was out of this world. The bathroom selfies = life. The prices = awesome. Bartenders = my new friends. If you're into the alternative/punk/metal scene, this is the bar for you.

This place has become one of my favorite dives. If you’re a metal fan, you’ll love the decor and music. The drinks are dirt cheap ($4 for a well drink) so it’s a great low budget night out option.

Been to Duff's two outta the three times I've come to NYC and enjoyed both times. It was MUCH busier this last time I went earlier August and I know I'm short and all but I felt I kept getting passed up at the bar for newer customers even with my card held out. When I did get to order I only wanted one round of drinks, but she didn't give me a chance to order anything else just said "it's a $20 minimum" and kept my card after I had already told her it was just the one round. I would have just ordered double and closed it out there since I knew they were so busy. prior to that was for my birthday before Christmas in 2019. :) will always come back for the atmosphere and music!

This was the very first time we have been to a metal bar. Stopped in before the 11PM DOTN show at St Vitus. It has such a great atmosphere and had lots of places to chill. We loved the back lounge area. They played all different types of music, from classic metal to the guttural stuff. The decor is top tier. There are tons of donated music items from different bands, all sorts of posters covering every inch of wall and ceiling, a disco ball reflecting the red lighting. Something new to discover and look at everywhere. The bartenders were great. Drinks came fast and they were welcoming and attentive. Later on, one saw that a drunk person was becoming too friendly with us and was more than willing to step in. No food, but people were allowed to bring in their slices from down the block. Love Duff's!

My favorite bar, prices are amazing, the bartenders are the best you always feel Welcome when you walk in, sometimes it gets a little busy but they try their best to Get to you as soon as they can, I'm very layed back so I don't rush to Get drinks I don't mind waiting a bit and they always try their best to come around to everyone. The vibe is amazing too, nice metal music, friendly vibe, and great prices,

Awesome unique bar! Very loud-don’t go for a quiet convo, go for a fun time. The wheel to spin for a prize is cool for a group

Just after the first visit this place became my favourite underground getaway spot. Friendly staff and for the true rock-metal heads millions of authentic and original memorabilia hanging on the wall..amazing!

This place is really cool, so much nostalgic memorabilia. It just isn't really my vibe as I am not a huge heavy metal fan, If you are tho, you have to check this place out, I would definitely give it 5 stars if it was my vibe ... I didn't order any food so don't know about that, and the drink special was for beer that I don't enjoy, can't remember the name, maybe blue ribbon, Idk... the bartender was very friendly and the people there seemed friendly as well ... I would Def, recommend this spot to anyone who loves metal music, or just loves places that have nostalgia... the ambiance is a Lil on the Darkside, but in a cool way, not in a creepy way!

Everyone was very nice, the heavy metal theme was a lot of fun. There was a 20 dollar minimum. Very loud, but the music was a vibe, and the memorabilia was very cool.

One of the cheapest places to get a drink. Their spin wheel is also fun to give a go. Amazing decor. 20 dollar card minimum for bar

I love this bar, staff are great, the regulars are really friendly and love to chat to anyone and of course the music is awesome! I also really love that everything is swathed in red light, and the roulette wheel is a source of never ending novelty. I won a dog biscuit. I don't even have a dog. It made me happy.

For years I have supported the Peter Steele of Type O Negative Tribute Nights held by the great people of Duff's. Finally, we have made the trip to Brooklyn and the grand finally was at Duff's to end our 10th anniversary and see this place in person. We had a great time. Got a history lesson. Checked out the band memorabilia. Drank with some really great people. Made off with some more merch.

Had a real blast at this place. A true rock bar that actually feels like you’re walking into the best concert you’ve ever been to. Highly recommend!!

A cheap little dive bar decorated like what I assume Nicolas Cage’s house looks like. Try the mystery shot wheel. No notes.

Great metal ambiance with a lot of legit rock memorabilia. The wheel of drinks was a pretty cruel mistress but still funny to try. The bartender was also cool as hell and really friendly.

Was recommended Duffs from another bar that was closing earlier. Walked in with no context. I think we were the only folks not wearing all black. Everyone was super welcoming and chill. Music was heavy af and the decor alone could entertain you for hours. Drinks were very affordable and service was great. Will be back.

Not at all my music but the crew and crowd were all excellent humans. Prices reasonable, wall-to-wall/ceiling of things to marvel at. Ladies room was a horrifyingly putrid experience but did not send us away . Will go again for sure!

it was a nice very tiny spot, the bartender we had was a hater for no reason, also really terrible at making drinks. we all ordered the same drink and one was way stronger than the other. only go here if u love metal, arent looking to meet anyone, drink straight up liquor, and dont mind terrible service
