I had just a brief moment for lunch, but I wanted something fun. This place was everything I wanted. It is a diner built into a railroad diner car. The food was the American fare you would expect in a diner, but I was shocked at how good even the fries were. They put the effort in their food. Speaking of effort, the staff met me at the door all smiles. Every single person there was friendly and attentive. Lately I have been jaded by the teens and young adults in the service industry. I'm used to the surly, I don't care service. These fine people actually seemed to enjoy their jobs. It made me happy and light hearted just to be there. I could have had a glass of water and left the place with a bounce in my step. Want a great burger or sandwich? This is the place. Want to leave a business with joy and happiness? Well then bonus, this is also that place.

What an amazing find! We were driving by and had to turn around and go back to check it out. To say the staff was amazing would be an understatement! It was the best service we have had in forever!!! The food us also great. My husband had the clam chowder and ruben. I had the potato soup and club sandwich. Both were perfect. This is a must to visit if you are near!

I took my grandson to the train museum, then we came here for snacks afterwards. The building is soooo cool, and the service was awesome. The guy even got down on my grandsons level to take his order. Brady thought that was very nice. Brady loved his grilled cheese and I was delighted to find a veggie burger! Yall need to try this place!

So neat! Take advantage and visit the owner's bookstore in downtown as well. The waitress was extremely customer oriented even when she started getting busy and a sweet little girl even came up and hugged her while she was taking our order. Everything here has been meticulously picked out to fit the theme. I had new England clam chowder and was extremely nervous about ordering this dish in the middle of Texas. It was delicious! Treat yourself and get pictures while you are here. The train even sits on railroad tracks! There is also someone there to get the door to greet you and tell you goodbye!

Such a great experience. The train car is really cool looking and is a fun environment. I was greeted at the door as it was opened when I came up. The wait staff was quick to ask what I wanted and was helpful with questions about the menu. I ordered the quarter pound burger since I was getting dessert. I also got the cheese fries. The burger tasted fresh and had good seasoning and the fries were crispy with the right amount of cheese and jalapeño bacon. I got the pecan ice cream pie and it was very good. Hit the spot. Such a good meal. I also wanted to say that the servers were great. Another customer fell outside on the steps and 2 girls went out to help her and checked to make sure she was ok. Great job!!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at this charming restaurant inside an old rail car. Everything about it deserves a five-star rating! The milkshakes were handcrafted and mixed right at the counter. The lunch sandwiches were a delightful; chips and salsa were delicious. And they have the GOOD ICE! The cozy ambiance within the rail car just added to the overall experience, making it feel like a step back in time. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the visit even more enjoyable. I couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. If you're in the mood for a delectable lunch with outstanding milkshakes and comforting soup, this is the place to go!

Burgers definitely good. Girlfriends was a tad underdone in the middle, not a big deal, she likes every piece of meat she eats well done and we neglected to mention that to our server, who was quite nice. Fries were exceptional. Booth we were in could use a deep cleaning, not a big deal either, just an observation. The train car itself is way cool. I look forward to going back and trying other menu items.

Top notch family run diner.Very friendly staff and not difficult to have menu items "your way". Table checks and refills are done and not intrusive. O yeah...it's inside a remodeled train which is unique.

Upon arrival the door was opened for us by a smiling staff member. I took note that the staff made it point to open the door and greet every customer. I had a delicious thick well seasoned Bacon Cheese Burger. It was AWESOME! The hamburger patty had to be hand made. The staff was polite, friendly and attentive to ensuring we had everything we desired. Yes, they even opened the door for us and wished us well as we departed. Best Texas hospitality we've had...ever! 😃👍🏼

I really like eating here. The train car makes for a fun atmosphere. Most of the food is pretty basic, but they make an excellent burger and pairing it with tots and a milkshake is perfect. The sides of the booths could stand a quick wipe down. The waitstaff is primarily local college kids, and they are always kind and work hard. I am not a chowder fan but have been told by many theirs is the best around.

Omg by far the best burger and fries I have ever had! The food came out perfectly hot and juicey! The whole experience really made me say Wow this is an amazing restaurant!! Love the theme as well! It's cool to eat on a once used train! Really nice parking and they have to go as well! Super easy for people that need to use a ramp to get in as they have stairs to get up to the train. The staff and atmosphere were great! Believe it's a family who owns it and my goodness they are just all wonderful! We had to get t-shirts from them and we hardly do that! Please please go visit them and check them out! I promise you will not be disappointed! If you are I will gladly pay for your meal! 😁

The food is really good, but for me what makes this place so great is the people. They are so friendly! The burger is probably one of the best I've had. If you like clam chowder, it is really good too. The restaurant is a neat little train car turned into a diner and is a neat atmosphere.

Stopped in during a visit to Brownwood and we are glad we did. The chili cheese dog was delicious and the tots and fried pickles were the best I’ve had in a long time! Would highly recommend.

Cute diner. Service is very good. Food was great; we had a Reuben sandwich, french fries, and killer fried Pickles. Folks at next table ordered the Pecan Ice Cream Pie; looked amazing. We're definitely going back.

Customer service at it's best! The doors were opened and closed for us, greeted and departed with a genuine smile. We loved the narrow, retro train car (which is still sitting on train tracks). The food was great, I got a 1/2 lb burger with fries which was more than enough. Kids got a hotdog and tater tots and a 1/4 burger. We will definitely be back.

My family and I drove from San Antonio and 2 other family members drove from Dallas to check out the place. Food was ok, the kids working there were great. Seating was uncomfortable but thats expected . There were a few dead flies and the windows to the place were filthy. Wouldnt go back. Wasn't really worth the drive.

Nice local eatery with good sandwich/salad/soup, I shared a cheesesteak sandwich with my date and it was delivered on 2 plates with chips. It was good. Water was refreshed often, service great.

Absolutely loved this place. Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Had the "spicy" (don't worry not too spicy at all!) chicken salad on jalapeno roll as well as some pecan ice cream pie! Husband and I split the Texas Toothpicks and the 1/2 order was perfect size for the two of us.

We came here because our 4 year old loves trains and thought it would be a cool experience. We didn’t expect much but we were blown away. As soon as we walked up the steps, we were greeted by employees during a busy lunch rush. We took a seat and the waiter came and took our order immediately. The kids ordered strawberry shakes that were AMAZING. And we order one kids chicken strips and they brought it out already split for them! My husband ordered a blue cheese burger and wasn’t a fan but only because they used real blue cheese crumbles and it was unexpected. They brought him out a bacon burger no questions asked. My grilled chicken salad was so very good, not made with typical iceberg lettuce. Overall, the experience was outstanding. We will start coming here instead of Humphrey Pete’s from now on.
