We ate here for the first time New Year’s Day. Needless to say it’s a one and done we won’t be back. The salad at the salad bar was yellow and wilted. We ordered the mushroom grilled chicken. The dinner rolls were hard and stale. The chicken had no flavor and was tough. My husband ordered the same thing just with a baked potato and the potato was cold when it came out. It’s like the food was leftover and they just warmed it in the microwave. We had heard great things about this steak house and were extremely disappointed. Not a place I would recommend.

I love traveling to new cities I've never been before and get a chance to taste some of the local food in this place was exceptional. Great people great food everything you can ask for and a steakhouse. And they also had a bunch of other great foods plus a huge delicious salad bar and desserts. Delicious! Come on down and check it out.

I went twice in one week. One night for a ribeye and baked potato and had to go back on Tuesday for their chicken fried steak special. The best around!!! Service was great, the salad bar has a nice variety, there is plenty of parking and they treat you like family. We always eat here when we are in town from North Carolina.

Brought the family. Everything was so good. I had the catfish. It was Amazing. My husband also enjoyed his catfish. My son said his 8 oz steak was very good. Waiter was very nice. Good place to take the family.

I really enjoy steak and so does everyone else in my family. However we believe that the steak should stand alone on the plate, be the centerpiece of the entree where it pops with seasoning that accentuates the flavor of the beef the tenderness of the cut of meat & everything else just blends with that mouth sensation. Definitely not what the five of us got when we ordered our steaks & other entrees. My two sons & I ordered the family style 3.5lb sirloin (medium rare) because we wanted to see what was supposed to be an impressive piece of steak. What was delivered to the table was a pile of small almost scrap looking steaks that were bland & unevenly cooked. Another person in our party ordered a honey pineapple sirloin. It came out dipped in honey & a pineapple thrown on top with no other seasoning to balance the sweetness was tough as my flip flop & needed a chainsaw to cut it. The grilled shrimp we ordered were not grilled. They tasted like they came out of a freezer bag boiled till semi warm then smothered in so much seasoning salt that they had to be wiped off to be eaten. The salad bar, could have come from Whataburger,Shredded lettuce & very few toppings. Honestly I’ve had better food at Golden Corral. This was not worth $165.

I attended a Christmas party dinner. What I noticed was there was a shortage of staff. No glasses of water. Along the center of the table was condiments. However, there was not enough on the table for the amount of people. Nor were there extra napkins. The waiter didn't have time to refill drinks. I realize this is a bad time to criticize a place. But if you don't have the staff don't book the venue.

We've never had anything, on their menu, that we haven't enjoyed. Breakfast portions are generous and reasonably priced. I especially enjoy the light fluffy omelettes. There are always great lunch and dinner specials and the salad bar has lots of options with fresh ingredients. Meals are served, quickly, by the friendly wait staff, the manager, or even the owner. My family and I continue to go there year after year and are never disappointed!

Dinner was very good. Steaks were cooked just right and tasted very good. Salad bar was nice with many options. We had baked potatoes that were good, I prefer them hot they were warmer. Plenty of butter was included with potatoes and rolls.Would recommend if in the area.

Surprisingly good food. Salad bar is extensive, fresh, and tasty. I don't particularly like a country atmosphere or CW music, so never my first choice, however, I was with a family group and all was satisfactory despite the fact I didn't choose it. Our group of 8 was given a private place to dine and that was good because we could actually hear the conversations around the table.

Great salad bar, great food and our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Loved the catfish special I ordered and the great salad bar. I also had some cherry cheesecake. Make the meal perfect.

Why do we stop at Section Hand, every trip? The service is excellent. The steak, fried okra, and salad bar are great. You can't beat this place.

Breakfast was mediocre. Staff was rude and cared about being on their phones more than waiting on their customers. Supper was a little better as far as the food and service quality, but it's definitely not worth trying again.

I ordered the Honey pineapple sirloin steak which was well worth the price. This restaurant gets 5 stars for tender juicy steak which is by far the most important part of the meal. I had the loaded baked potato, generous in size and plenty of toppings. Also although the restaurant was quite full, the staff met the challenge by delivering excellent service. However one star deducted due to two items not so great. The cantaloupe was hard and not sweet. The pickles were just not tasty.

Pleasant atmosphere, courtesy among the employees, awesome fish tank in the center of dinning area. I loved my sweet potato fries and the cheese sticks were delicious. We enjoyed our visit here and plan on going back sometime in the future.

Food was good, the waitress was excellent! Never had to wait for a refill of tea,and she cleared the used dishes quickly. Best service I have had since coming to Brownwood (4 months)and I eat out almost everyday.

Really good salad bar free with most entrees. The steak specials for 2 are great value and the meat is flavorful and cooked to your desire.

It's a no frills steakhouse. They have great flavor on the steaks, hit or miss on proper cook, great side options and a basic salad bar. I don't live in Brownwood but it is the best salad bar I've found when visiting. Then menu is well rounded from chicken to fish to calf liver to other beef options. We have been happy for the most part. The steaks can have a heavy fat cap and need to be trimmed more but we keep coming back and are never so disappointed that we won't return. We've had great experiences and we've had so-so ones. The staff is always very pleasant and attentive and that keeps us happy.

Party of 7 of us arrived 15 minutes before serving breakfast ended. They were very accommodating, kind, and, very friendly! Our waitress, Lavada (sp) was lovely, friendly, and enjoyed my family from NJ.

I came Sunday evening after church around 4 o'clock. I had talked my nephew into going to get a steak he said he'd never been there before it been a while since I've been there. The steak was horrible, They had no mashed potatoes went to the salad bar dollar bar it was wiped out had about a ounce of potato salad left. I could not believe how bad that was is los and plus bringing you my nephew. He let me know it was the 1st time and the last time going to section hand and I told him I did not blame him at all that I would not be back either. The only good thing about That evening was the waiters was nice. Is that the food was horrible is terrible and didn't even have mashed potatoes. And salad bar wiped out.He knew it wasn't the waiters's fault and he left her a $15 tip. But you lost our business. Forever..... plus 1 more thing The place was filthy. Is our feet set in chips and other stuff when we ate........... Cannot believe it. But now we do....

Salad bar was the best part of the whole food experience except for the Cole slaw which tasted a bit weird. Steak was requested medium well but came out more well done. Chicken fried steak was the better dish between the two imo. Service was excellent and price is extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get.

Good ol comfort food Restaurant! Nice cafe that's been there for years. Several steaks to choose from. Big salad bar.

Food was under cooked, salad bar had flies all around it and the employees did nothing about it. Worst steak house I’ve been to by far. If you are in Brownwood and want a good steak go to Humphrey Pete’s or prima pasta

Affordable and so yummy. Salad bar was great and so was the food. Our server and the staff was great. Prices are extremely fair for the portions and options. Will be back again!

Great casual steakhouse! It is one of those "feels like home" places! We've come for several family meals when we visit Brownwood, and have always enjoyed the CFS, steaks, & chicken strips. Service is excellent and the owners even come out to say hello and check-in on us.

I rarely get around early enough, but the breakfast can't be beaten, and I just haven't found a superior salad bar offering anywhere. Not many people can pull off a well done steak without turning it into a shoe but they continue to cook it perfectly.

My ribeye was cooked perfect and tasted great ! The sweet potato fries were very good as well as everything else. My only complaint would be the fried pickles not really very good. The service was outstanding but the restaurant could use an update. Pretty outdated decor.

  • 4/5 Jason B. 2 years ago on Google
Generally very good. Always friendly service. The bacon bits on the salad bar and baked potatoes are the imitation variety, real bacon would be so much better. I have been here many times and will be back many more, im sure.

Came there after a funeral with my husband's family. That young lady worked her butt but she did a great job since she had all off us to deal with. She was great at keeping our drinks filled up and she was great about checking in on us while we waited for our food to get done.

Nothing really stuck out to me. I was a bit confused on their salad bar, instead of salad leaves they had like shredded lettuce. Salad toppings were okay. 6oz sirloin was good and baked potato was alright. All in all not bad but not great.
