We had a great time and will be back again. Children 5 and under go in for free and get a free ride on a model train. There is lots of learning and hands on things to do, also a great play area for the children. A great learning place for young and old!

Highly affordable museum that specializes in trains of all types and sizes and the history around them. I took my kids when they were much younger and they loved it. Now my Grandson loves it! Train models that run are inside and setup along with somehistorical information on Hull House, Telegraph offices, Post Office, etc . . . Outside is a private train that can be walked through. It has three cars, I believe, and is amazing. There is a Train station setup. And on Saturdays they have their very own and very special train that can be ridden!

So much fun! Worth the stop and recap of this little town's history on the railroad that built our country. Bring the kids and watch their eyes glow with all passing toy trains they can play with.

We visited as part of the Airstream rally in downtown Brownwood and the museum is great .. lots of Brownwood Santa Fe RR station history including the Harvey House history. Lots of layouts to fascinate the little ones

The people who were working the museum were very friendly and offered some interesting information. There are several model train sets that actually work and are set up on display and run. A lot of work has gone into this museum and the cost is less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks. There is an outdoor train that you can actually ride if the weather is permitting.

My grandson and I thoroughly enjoyed the Railroad Museum. The exhibits were interesting, with lots of hands-on things for kids. I've fallen in love with the Santa Fe railroads mimbreno china. There are trains you can walk through, and a neat train ride. The employees are especially nice!

If you like trains I suggest going here. There's a small track that you can ride. Small trains in side, some history from the founder and an old carrier car that you can go through.

Cool place. The guy at the counter was awesome! 5 stars for him! The green train car was really fascinating and they had a couple of cool model train scenes. Worth the 4 bucks.

The museum is incredibly well done architecturally. The building alone is worth going to the museum. The exhibits are thoughtful and show the history of the railroad in the area. My 5 year old loved seeing and interacting with the models they have. The models room is huge! There is an observation deck where you can sit outside and watch the trains go by. Across the street is the old depot that is now the commerce building. They do have two antique train cars for people to explore, but they were closed the day we went due to the rain (totally understandable to keep the cars in great shape) and they have a little train ride outside, but again it was also closed due to the rain, but looked like a lot of fun. The train ride is $2 per person and goes around the old rail yard. Adults are $4, and children were $2.

A fantastic rail museum with the friendliest and most engaging personnel! We came for the sake of my train-loving husband, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself too! The exhibits helped illustrate everything from signal history to rail employees to job descriptions and depot setups. It was fascinating to see inside the caboose and business cars, looking like they would have in the rail days. The depot let us see how the station personnel would have had to work. And of course the massive model train layouts were works of art, of several different scales! The train master answered all our questions and welcomed more.

Our Houston and BWD Grandchildren had a great time! They enjoyed the train ride, lots of big trucks to find out about and there was a lot of information for adults!

Great railroad museum. Informative and lots to look at. The miniature train was fun. Loved all the artifacts they had collected. Highly recommend a visit for a child interested in trains. Awesome H. O. scale layout.

My boys loved it. We have gone multiple times. One was for a "Wheels Around Town" event with many service vehicles and the wonderful men and women who interacted with the children.

Not only was all the staff helpful and kind but the exhibits were extraordinary. There are 2 train carts to pass through and see how it was to ride in the past. They also have an old train station display walk through which was interesting. Something fun for the kids was the mini train you can ride right next to it. Loved it.
