I’m
really
shocked
at
the
way
my
children
and
myself
were
treated
by
upper
lever
staff.
I
had
great
experiences
with
the
front
desk
staff
and
the
weight
and
cardio
rooms/staff.
The
Child
Watch
ladies
are
wonderful.
We
have
also
had
good
experiences
with
swim
lessons.
However,
I
have
unfortunately
had
several
negative
experiences
involving
the
aquatics/pool
department
and
the
branch
director.
I
shared
some
pretty
concerning
experiences
with
both
the
aquatic
director
and
the
branch
director.
Both
were
dismissive,
condescending
and
unprofessional.
As
I
said,
there
are
many
wonderful
staff
at
the
Y
and
the
facilities
are
nice,
but
my
experience
has
shown
me
that
children
are
not
necessarily
going
to
be
treated
with
the
respect
and
dignity
that
they
should
be
and
if
a
parent
complains
about
this,
her
children
may
be
punished
for
it
through
even
harsher
treatment
by
staff
(Twice
I
have
brought
a
complaint
to
the
director
of
the
Y
and
twice
my
children
received
even
harsher
treatment
from
staff
right
after
the
complaint.)
The
director
continually
covered
for
her
staff
when
they
were
clearly
out
of
line.
If
this
doesn't
change,
I
believe
it
will
continue
to
create
a
culture
in
the
aquatics
department
of
hostility
toward
children
and
their
parents.
I
believe
that
the
lifeguards'
word
should
absolutely
be
final,
but
when
they
are
not
held
accountable
for
hostile
and
harsh
treatment
of
children
and
their
parents,
that
is
not
safe.
I
was
told
by
the
director
herself,
"I
don't
mean
to
be
rude,
but
it
is
your
choice
to
come
here."
When
she
said
that
to
me
(a
member)
I
realized
that
the
issues
I
experienced
are
most
likely
due
to
a
lack
of
caring
leadership
from
the
very
top.
I
was
taken
aback
at
the
time,
but
what
I
wish
I
would
have
said
was
that
the
Y
is
not
her
place
to
run
as
she
wishes.
The
YMCA
exists
to
serve
the
community.
