Great food at a reasonable price. Loved the Halloumi chips, Goats Cheese Terrine with roast vegetables and the Filo parcel of cream cheese and hand cut chips with skins on . Also enjoyed the Lemon cheese cake presented as in a Michelin star restaurant. The individual Apple pie with sultanas and custard was large and tasty. Recommend the Guest Ale. Partner had a Wine Spritzer. Total. Bill £40 was good value. 15 February 2022 Visited again. I had a fantastic Beef Burger. Delicious burger thick quality tasty meat made on site . Great potato wedges with skin on. As it was Tuesday burger was half price. It is great value even at full price. My friend had Lamb Kofta Kebab, Tzatziki, Pitta & Salad. This was a small plate - this is more than enough for a full meal at just £6.95 and absolutely delicious. 29th March Back for a light meal. We loved the Halloumi chips with Salsa as a snack - salsa the best I have eaten. small plates of yummy Goats cheese with rocket and molasses and I had Mac and lobster cheese and homemade mini loaf . Finished if we each had really freshing kiwi, mango Eton Mess with passion fruit coulis and cream.

Very old village pub, warm and welcoming and family orientated. The food is first class. I have no hesitation in recommending The Goat.

Tucked away off the beaten track, is this wonderful very old pub. Plenty of parking, when you enter the building, it's like going back in time. Some of the beams are only about 5 feet off the ground, there is a lovely warm atmosphere inside, and it's very warm and cosy. Meals served, good choice of beers, superb bar staff, a great visit.

Lovely old pub, low ceilings. Good selection of beers and good food. Classic car meet there every 1st Sunday of the month.

Came in for a roast in January and it was really good, the pub had its classic car Sunday and it’s a wicked place!! I will be returning again.

It’s mean to be A family pub which should have food for all parties of the family. Kids, adults and elderly. I don't think they like people not English or local. Nephew is lactose intolerable but only two items on menu and no dessert for them. No diet or sugar free drinks just water and this is a pub whose main aspect is to provide drinks for customers. They Placed us on a table with no room for people to squeeze past into the kitchen and kept kicking the high chair with the child in place. Instead of giving us a better suited table which they did have. No health options for people which is shocking. They do a chicken salad for kids but not an adult portion. Food was nice as least but service was terrible. Didn’t know anything about the menu. Was not apologetic after she dropped the milk for another customer and it splashed me and my son. No Sunday roast on the menu we were given but other customers seemed to have been able to order it. Maybe it’s because they don’t like people not British going into their pub as we surely didn’t get the same service as the English customers there.

We visited as a party of 15 to celebrate a couple of family birthdays. Having pre-booked our choice of food the service, quality of food and overall cost for the evening did not disappoint. We also loved the way the tables were set out in a square so it meant we could all engage in the fun. Everyone was really impressed and we will certainly return.

Had a lovely family get-together here on a Monday. Good food (with special offers like half price homemade burgers on Mondays), friendly service and comfy surroundings. Just one thing I would say to the team: please check on flat white coffee, it's not the same as a cappuccino ☺️ Will visit again.

Awesome pub right on the village green, loads of outdoor seating in the sun. The chef makes great food, they keep the beer perfectly, always with a selection of top beers and gins! My favourite pub.

Have paid several visits to this pub over the last few weeks. The food is a cut above, clearly the chef is very capable. Beer well kept you will not be disappointed.

We’ve just found this gem of a pub in Hertford Heath. The food is beautifully home made and really delicious and the service is fantastic. For a hefty stater, try the scotch egg for something truly reinvented and unique. The staff here are absolutely brilliant. We’ll be regulars

Rod and Kates wedding reception Saturday night was the best. They both looked stunning and the bridesmaids beautiful The staff worked tirelessly all day and night and the food was delicious. The ice cream parlour was a great idea. Loved the music and dressing up costumes provided too. The marquee looked amazing with the decor and lights. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I nearly forgot to mention the Hog Roast. So tasty. Thank you to everyone.

I gave a review of the car meet at the Goat pub last month which did not read correctly, the "pub" is very good I booked it for a wake around a year ago, food and staff were very good and it is a great place to have a car meeting point on the 1st Sunday of each month. Sorry to the Pub landlord for the 3 star rating I agree you warrant at least 4 stars.

We came here for a celebratory work lunch after a recent project completion. We prearranged food requests and in total ordered 9 different mains for 14 people across their classics and summer specials. The food was spectacular and high praise from everyone who came. Special kudos to the chef and the rest of the team for being so accommodating with this last minute booking. Starters and deserts were also excellent. Thanks this will be my regular lunch place for work dos, FTCA ...also pints are probably a pound less than elsewhere.

Went for a Sunday lunch. Food was lovely, staff great, but it took a while for the food to arrive. Would definitely go back though.

Good pub grub, portions could be bigger and served quicker. Service is excellent.

Great eats. You pay what you order for. Smaller portions decoratively served with a slice of bon homi. You can at least eat 3 courses where other places stuff you to the gunnels. Nice atmosphere. It was lunchtime on Friday and plenty of room. A treat awaits you. Mind your head in the bar!!!

Cosy pub with nice ambience. Attentive staff. Fair number of dishes on menu. I did however think my portion of haddock was a bit stingy and you don't get any veg with it. Most pubs at least offer peas. Quite a small sized coffee as well. Good parking as pub has a small car park plus additional parking around the village green. Great idea to have a book borrow/swap. 3 choices of bitter on tap which is more than some pubs these days. You're often lucky if you get offered one. Overall food OK and pub has a nice community feel.

We came for a meal on Saturday 30th July, when we arrived at 7pm we were not advised the kitchin closed at 8.15pm, we were taken to our table placed our orders, starters were very good, bit dissapointed by the main courses, I ordered ham egg and chips, chips were over cooked, bits of the ham were chewy couldnt eat it. My partner ordered the toad in the hole, when it came out, it looked like it had been left in the oven as it was very well done, close to burnt, in my opinion it should not have been served, we put it down to us being the last table to eat before the kitchin closed, not really the right approach to rush through the service. In our opinion it just felt like the main meals had been rushed to enable the chef to close the kitchin. We wont be coming back. Sorry

Lovely food, mind your head with the old wooden beams at the bar!

While it was a little chilly (we appreciate it's summer and things are tight for fuel rn), the staff were lovely and helpful and explained that there may be a bit of a wait for our food. The toasted ham and cheese sandwiches and skin on chips were absolutely delicious. The staff even answered queries about their gf items (my partner is celiac and it's often hard to eat out.) Lovely atmosphere and very comfortable chairs!

Dropped in for lunch yesterday. What a lovely experience! The staff were friendly and professional, the food was freshly cooked and very tasty. The menu is nice and varied, and to top it all Tuesday's half price burger day ! We'll definitely be back

Love the pub, a real community hub. Would visit more often if they offered some main courses as small plates. Please also put fish cakes back on the menu.

Great experience. We couldn't taste the specials as due to bank holiday there were just a few. But the food was good and tasty, staff was great and there was a good ambiance to have a good time with dogs and children included

We were so looking forward to lunch at The Goat because the reviews seemed so positive. Unfortunately we were thoroughly disappointed. The service was passable (it is a pub after all, not a restaurant), but the food was awful - especially at those prices! My garlic mushrooms were bland and I could not even taste the garlic...it was also way too large a portion. The main, I chose the lamb burger, was simply inedible. It was swimming in fat, had no flavour and served with a small pot of soggy chips. The white wine was the only acceptable element. My partner was equally dissatisfied with her poorly seasoned ham hock and bland half chicken...Oh dear!

Great food and friendly service. Husband claimed the venison pie was the best pie he's ever eaten (and he's had a lot).

Good gluten free options, the GF burger was fab. Proper home cooked pub food, toad in the hole was lovely. Deserts didn't disappoint either. Characterful pub with plenty of parking.
