found this cozy restaurant from 小红书! turned out to be one of the best dinners we had in belgium 😋 we had the tomato soup, creamy chicken and beer marinated pork. the food was amazing!! we will definitely come back again :)

Amazing food, both Belgian and from abroad. We tried the stew, the melon salad and the chocolate cake, everything was great! You can tell that the cook loves his job. Very good price-value.

We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. Authentic Flemish and international dishes made to perfection. Truly rare food quality. It was well worth the walk outside of the touristy center of town. Highly recommended.

Very small restaurant, space for about 12 people in total. Nice and cosy. The service is very fast and friendly. Limited menu, but very tasty! I had the carpaccio as a starter, and the meat was really good! Main was the bacon, which is a very thick cut and grilled, accompanied by a fresh green salad, potatoes and 3 different sauces. Recommended!

Small and cozy place. It has like 12 sits. Something like a dozen dishes to chose. I get the suggestion by the chef and I took the Stoveij westmalle, it was the most soft pork meat I've ever eat, delicious. He will tell you the recipe and you wanna try it. As we say, few people better party. Enjoy the meal.

Very relaxed environment for such incredible high-quality delicious food. The clearly talented chef/owner really knows his craft. I was only visiting Belgium for a week but will eat at Bonavia again if possible while I'm in town. On my first visit the meal I had was a ramen dish laiden with mushrooms & broccoli, topped with bean sprouts, and a small variety of other toppings to customize the dish to your prefered spice level. The second visit I tried the stuffed ravioli with zucchini in an alfredo cheese sauce topped with salad greens. My friends and family all ordered a variety of the other dishes which all smelled and looked amazing as well. It seems you can't go wrong with anything you choose from their menu. All main dishes are between 15-23 euro, deserts are 8-10 euro. Variety of wine and drinks as well.

Cozy restaurant with amazing freshly made food and good music! :) I had a beef stew which was served with roasted baby potatoes and a nice salad. The meat was tender and the sauce was amazing. Among other ingredients it contains three types of Belgium beers and some chocolate. All the flavours are perfectly balanced. The owner is also the chef and he serves the food too which gives the entire place a homey feeling. In a city full with "tourist trap" type of restaurants this was one of a kind experience!

Amazing food. Best meals I’ve had in Belgium. We had a beef stew and vegetable soup with couscous. It’s fantastic! Would love to come back if I’m Ghent again and would recommend to others if they visit Ghent!

My boyfriend and I had dinner here and absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. It was possibly my perfect dining experience! The food was delicious, and had great representation of the local dishes. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing, and you can tell that Vincent (the chef & owner) put a lot of thought into the menu and the dishes! We had the beef stew and the soup with bread, and everything was simply superb. The stew and soup both had wonderfully deep flavors that reflected the care put into cooking these dishes. My personal standout was the pastel de nata for dessert. The pastry was baked to order, and paired with espresso and shot of liqueur -- really a perfect dessert to end a perfect meal that warmed up my soul. I know I’ll be thinking about this dinner for a while, and I’ll be back the next time I am nearby! (also, be sure to make a reservation! it has limited seating since everything is made to order!)

Operated by one chef only and the food was so good! Had the raw beef dish + udon + stew and they were all amazing! Definitely come here if you’re visiting Ghent! Remember to make a reservation first if possible because the restaurant is quite small🫶🏼

What a pleasure to stumble across this amazing little gem of a restaurant! Everything on the menu sounded great, the food was superb (we had the stew, chilli, and a chocolate pudding), and the host was first class (very personable, talented, and made great recommendations).

This hidden gem provides both traditional Belgium dishes and some fusion choices, and could potentially be a restaurant that is worth the time to come all the way to Ghent just for the food. I found the other comments about “family style” a bit misleading, because the small menu speaks professionalism, curation, and sophistication. The food quality is exceptional and hearty, yet definitely beyond what a “grandmother” can provide. If you are a foodie and wants an unpretentious chef’s table experience with fresh seasonal ingredients, this is it! Cons: The chef does an excellent job explaining each dish, but I can see some shy customers may be turned off by a simple menu on a chalkboard without the ingredients spelled out. A bit more detailed menu with different translations and categorized dishes may guide people to place an order and be a good supplement to the already extraordinary food experience.

Highly recommended ! Great food and expect everything was home made. We will for sure come back again ! Owner was also very nice and friendly explaining us the menu and making sure we had a good time. Definitely 5/5 !

Tasteful low FODMAP possibilities available! Talk to the chef-owner. I had the meatballs in tomato sauce and it was great. Nice atmosphere too, good wine and very amicable prices.

Had a soup and chilli con carne yesterday and every freaking time this place keeps amazing me. The Asperger's soup was fresh and the chilli came from the pot to my plate. Definitely a place to visit.

Everything was so great! Very delicious food and so friendly owner and his son Vedran. We really enjoyed our lunch.
