This place will be ruined by the service. We tried to get into this place for a couple of weeks and were somewhat disappointed. Firstly, the speed of serving dishes is 50 minutes, which the waiter does not warn about. Secondly, the work of the waiter: the drinks were brought after 30 minutes, the drink for the child was brought out only after our reminder. When asked if the dish with liver was a pate, the waiter replied that yes, but it was not. We were asked about the desired side dish, but our friends were not. From the outside it seems that neither the kitchen nor the hall can cope with the flow of guests. The food is quite decent, but the wait spoils the whole experience. Update after second time: perhaps the management really worked on the mistakes, because yesterday everything was super: the service and the quality of the dishes

Booked here for lunch, we ordered a bit of seafood, steak, liver and a burger. Unfortunately, the food was consistently undercooked. The sweet potato was still hard and the salmon was raw inside. The food was also mostly cold. Only when we requested to re-cook the burger that it became hot and tasty. Only the liver was good. For the service, when we requested to swap the sides with bread, we were met with resistance before the waiter gave in. The bread were also not toasted. They also did not offer us any service water or told us that the takeaway container had a charge. For the price they were charging, a better service was expected. Overall, it was not an enjoyable experience.

Edit: Recently came again to try out their sungkai buffet and it was really good for the price. This time round the service was excellent especially by Adrian and Danny! They were very helpful and attentive. Such a redeeming visit, will continue to visit whenever I can Previous review: Frankly I think the food was delicious, we had the Salmon, steak and some burgers during lunch where there were lesser people and was not crowded for our table of 8. The location was beautiful and I heard that it can be even more beautiful at night with the firepit on. The only downside for me was the quality of the service staff. Some were trying to their best while some didnt even try like they didnt bother serving the dishes directly to the guest but kept passing to the nearest they could find and mind you it was less than 5 tables that day so it was not busy. We waited 30mins after placing our orders before they informed us that the lamb was unavailable and ended up waiting even longer for the dish to arrive. They did give our free shared cakes for Valentines so that was a redeeming touch. Nonetheless I recommend visiting for the meal but give ample waiting time.

Nice ambience, food was good and friendly service. However I felt that the restaurant imposed too many rules like the following: 1. Minimum dine-in order of $50. 2. Birthday cake "service charge" of $20 unless minimum $6 of dessert was ordered. 3. Take-aways are not allowed (we like to take away unfinished food to prevent wastage) 4. We ordered tea which was served in a teapot with 1 teabag and a quarter of the pot full. When asked for a hot water refill it was not allowed (hot water is free right?) Maybe they have reasons for these rules which we feel is not very "customer-friendly", but to all those who are thinking of dining here, do take note of them.

Braai is a beautiful hidden treasure on Brunei’s lovely seaside. The aesthetic is simple yet elegant at the same time & the staff were very respectful. As someone who is very picky about her steaks, I was skeptical of how good it would actually be but they truly exceeded my expectations. We ordered the Braai bread, butternut squash salad, striploin steak & spatchock chicken. The Braai bread was simple yet flavourful. The salad was unique although it could have used a little more of seasoning or some kind of dressing to elevate the flavour. But then came the star of the show - the delicious striploin & oh my gosh!!! Absolute perfection. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium as requested. It was so perfectly seasoned that despite being someone who loves sauces, I could easily enjoy this without any sauce on it. Regardless the mushroom sauce with it was absolutely delicious and complimented the steak so well. After almost 3 decades of trying to find a good steak place in Brunei, I finally found one! The chicken was a pleasant surprise - the meat was grilled perfectly, falling off the bone easily and seasoned very well. They dont go overboard with their seasoning yet somehow still managed to achieve a lot of flavours with their meat which just highlights the exceptional quality. One thing to note is it was my birthday we took our own cake & asked them to bring it out later for dessert. While they did do all that perfectly, later on the bill we saw a charge of $20 for β€œcakeage” which was apparently a service charge for bringing our own cake (lol?! πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ). This was the first time in years of fine dining that I came across this & neither had we been informed but when we spoke to the staff they kindly removed the charge as we did not know. So just a heads up; don’t take your birthday cake to them 🀣 But their service shined with even the way they handled this so overall still a lovely experience. Highly recommend!

Tl;dr Everything was good but nothing was exceptional. Not recommended. Would not come again. Recommended to try: tomahawk, braai bread, cheddermelt burger. The good: Place was beautiful and comfortable. Great ambience. The staffs were attentive and helpful. Love the sauces. Tried the monkeygland, chimichurri, creamy mushroom and nandos peri-peri sauce. If you had to choose, the monkeygland sauce is a must try. Ordered the mains with fries and jacket potato. The fries were well-seasoned and the texture was just nice. The jacket potato however wasn’t so good as i ordered it with sour cream and chives which made the whole thing β€˜watery’. The bad: Very limited parking space. Had to park at the side of the road. Long waiting time. Tomahawk and tenderloin both served about 1 hour after we arrived. Perhaps it would be best to have the mains pre-cooked. The starters we ordered (braai breads and pap balls) didn’t come at the same time. Had to wait 10-15 mins between orders. Not a lot of drinks option. Overall I would not recommend people to come and I personally do not see myself coming again. For the experience that we get, it’s not worth it. Only come just to try it once.

We were welcomed by a very hospitable host Adrian who recommended a delicious mix of delicious grilled meats, fish and vegetables. The ambience was relaxing and just before it rained, the cool breeze that came made for an enjoyable evening by the riverside.

Delicious food with nice atmosphere. We booked a table outside and ordered 2 sets of their kids menu (burger sliders and chicken - if I am not mistaken, and both come with chips) along with Saffas burger, chicken kebabs and boerewors. The portion is quite big (we got a doggy bag as we couldn't finish it all). The price we paid is reasonable, although they have more expensive options for steak which I am sure would be delicious too. Overall, we are quite satisfied with our dinner experience at the Braai.

Braai breads and chicken livers peri-peri to start, smoked salmon and lamb burger with jacket potatoes and sour cream & chives for main with a side of roasted butternut salad. To finish, dark chocolate tart to share! All of these were absolutely delicious! The flavours were distinct and well put together. The only minor disappointment was that the main course dishes weren’t very hot. Customer service was great, very friendly staff. The setting is beautiful, right on the river. You need to book in advance as the restaurant is very popular. There’s very limited parking at the restaurant. Some cars parked on the side of the main road just above the restaurant.

I would have to say, if you are a meat lover this place is for you. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the staff in a friendly and welcoming manner. The table set up was simple with your utensils in a cutlery pocket on a plate. Tables and chairs not only looked good but were also comfortable. Love their music playlist as well. If it’s your first time like us, just ask the friendly staff for suggestions. We absolutely love their appetizers! The Braai bread and the Roasted Butternut salad is just amazingly refreshing! The explosion of flavours in your mouth is surprising! The tenderloin and striplion were cooked to perfection of medium rare. You can taste the smokiness of the grill and were perfectly seasoned! Even the French fries and the jacket potatoes tastes really good! Service was spot on! Although the indoor dining was full and we were the only table outside, the staff made it a point to check on us regularly and were always courteous. The ambiance of the whole place was good though it would have been nicer if they had more parking spaces. Being mobility challenged, the slope leading to the restaurant can be a tricky to navigate. So be sure to leave a remark when making your reservation and they will book a parking slot for you in front of the entrance. The jetty and sunken lounge with the fire pit was a nice touch however the odour can be overwhelming. Not sure what it was as it was high tide and you could see a lot of debris under the jetty. Overall a great dining experience and will definitely be back to check out their other menu items.

A really special evening. We arrived and Adrian, the owner, recommended a sharing meal for the 5 of us of Tomahawk steak, lamb and giant prawns which was absolutely delicious. It is pricey for Brunei, but cheaper relative to other big cities like London/Singapore, and without doubt the best meal I’ve had since living here. Would highly recommend for special occasions Thank you Adrian for looking after us so well- and for throwing in a free dessert platter!

It was nice experience with friends, trying out the food and basking in a relaxed, serene atmosphere. We were so full that we regret we did not try some desserts. Perhaps on another visit! And there is a bonus rainbow.

We sat towards the door and it's bit stuffy as there was no aircond near our seats. Nonetheless we were being served with lots of ice cold water and very attentive service.

Had the Angus Tomahawk cooked medium and it came out perfectly cooked. The smoked salmon (method of cooking, not preservation) was very good and exceeded expectations. The starter prawns were slightly undercooked but was resolved to satisfaction. Side dishes were nice, however I found the roasted vegetables slightly sweet. Not sure if its a characteristic of the type of cuisine so I did not consider this as a detrimental issue.

Food was great!! I like the riverside view. Will go back again, this time for dinner. Gonna dine outside and enjoy dinner by the river (Apparently they have different menu for lunch and dinner.) Parking is a challenge. You gonna have to risk it by parking by the roadside.

Friendly staff. Delicious food. We had the wagyu tomahawk steak, and it was really good πŸ‘. I loved the jacket potato, at least that's what I think it was called lol, but it was soooo good! The dark chocolate tart for dessert was decadent. My rooibos tea was very nice. I actually liked everything we had that night. The wait staff were nice and attentive. The views were magnificent πŸ‘Œ. I loved watching the sunset. I am definitely looking forward to coming back again!

Braai is a very beautiful place with amazing river view and while waited food serve we able to enjoy the river view & sat comfortable with the fire pit outside the dining area. The staffs provide a very satisfactory service. Food overall satisfying too. I love the gourmet salad Quinoa; I rate it 10/10. I ordered dessert board for birthday, the Porched Pear highly recommended. Pavlova 10/10 too. Honestly, I enjoy my dinner & celebrate birthday for special person. I would come again someday.

The Angus tomahawk steak was the star of the night, with rich flavors and a perfect cook that truly elevated the meal. The tiger prawns, appetizers, and wagyu burger were also delicious, each bringing their own unique flair. The prawns were fresh and juicy, while the wagyu burger was tender and packed with flavor. However, the chicken was a bit dry and could use a bit more moisture to match the quality of the other dishes. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience with just a minor adjustment needed for the chicken

This was my first time, and I enjoyed every bit of it! The staffs made me feel welcome and comfortable, even as a first-timer. The food was fantastic; the striploin steak was cooked to perfection, and my personal favorite was the pap ballsβ€”the sauce was simply chef’s kiss. Highly recommended as a great spot for a date.

I had the pleasure of dining at Braai for lunch, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. Both my partner and I opted for the burgers, and we were thoroughly impressed. The burger patties were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor and truly delectable. For dessert, we indulged in the caramelized mango pudding and apple pie. Both desserts were absolutely delicious and provided a sweet end to our meal. The service at Braai was top-notch. The staff were incredibly friendly and polite, making us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our visit. One of the highlights of Braai is its stunning river view. The serene and picturesque setting added a special touch to our dining experience, making it even more memorable. Overall, I highly recommend Braai for its delicious food, excellent service, and beautiful ambiance. It's a dining experience you won't want to miss!
