The food here is excellent. I enjoy dining in this cafe especially for their cakes. Though price is on the higher end, they have lunch deals ($16) where you can order soup, mains, coffee or tea and desserts. For starters, the mushroom soup definitely tastes homemade as it was creamy and filled with mushrooms. I've also tried the pumpkin soup which was super creamy and just heavenly. For mains, prawn pesto pasta was delicious. Quite a generous amount of prawns and pasta. Roasted chicken grain bowl was amazing and definitely a large amount. As for the salmon donut and crab meat on the toast, they were decent. For desserts, I highly recommend the pancake souffle. Soft, creamy and not too sweet. Though my favorite must be the key lime tart (recommended for those who love sour desserts). I also tried the french opera, chocolate peanut butter cake which were really good! Depending on who is on shift, the customer service can be very excellent while some may be decent as they might not be as attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was amazing and I will definitely come back again.

One of the more higher end cafes in Brunei. The food is good and consistent . I am fond of the Steak grains bowl, it’s healthy and filling. Ambiance is great and staff are attentive. Food doesn’t take too long either. They should slightly expand their menu as I find it is still quite limited and unchanged. Their key lime pie is delicious and plated nicely if you dine in. Parking isn’t too much of a problem but during pay day parking can be notoriously difficult in this area.

Overall, this restaurant serves good food but the prices are steep so whether it's worth it or not, would entirely depend on you! Nice and unique ambience; aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. We ordered 3 dishes; panko-crusted chicken fillet ($8), the classic ($13.60) and the santropol steak sandwich ($14.60). The chicken fillet dish has a generous portion for a starter and it leans more towards a sweet rather than a savoury dish, the classic is a regular cheeseburger which is just alright (go somewhere else!) and the santropol steak sandwich is a juicy beef sandwich with sweet beetroot relish but the sanwich itself is a bit small. This would be a go to place for me now in Brunei. It used to be Soriso for me but its a far cry from what they were before. However, Alter Ego makes me excited now to come back. Being a non Bruneian, I just need to adjust to the hours here where F&B outlets closes earlier that what I am used to. However, food is great. Staff are awesome. Atmosphere is good.

Ordered the steak and specifically told the wait staff that I wanted the meat to be served medium rare. When my steak came, I sliced it open only to find a medium well (almost well done) piece of meat. I told the wait staff to send it back to the kitchen, only to be rejected by the chef because he insisted that this is how medium rare meat looks like. Seriously disappointed by this kind of service. Not sure if I’d want to come back anytime soon but this experience definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

Had dinner here for a birthday celebration and they were able to accommodate a large group reservation. It had a very nice and beautiful atmosphere for dinner and the 3 course meal was pretty decent. The coffee was good and would recommend to give this place another visit during lunch time .

Went there for lunch. Love their pumpkin coconut soup and the lamb dish. My classic burger and fries chicken was decent. Don't really like the prawn pasta. It's too oily for my taste. The price here is on the upper side.

ambiance is superb. interior design is fantastic. but not the food. except for the food presentation & the desert. the beef for the burger was dry & tasteless, even the pickel was wrong combination. the lamb something was nothing memorable too. too much experiment on their fusion menu. however they got good cover up by their desert options, both taste & presentation. ordered the deconstructive cendol, & its superb. price so expensive for such taste & long wait.

The ambience was, i believe, as good as it could get in the town. Stylish, classy and comfy. On the other side, the coffee and food was okay. The blue prawns were amazing in freshness and texture, but pesto sauce was too mild (guess it’s not the normal pesto recipe using basil/cilantro). The cake looked stellar but there’s certainly a good room for improvement in term of textures and flavours.

Loved the decor and ambience. Music was nice and chilled - 90's-style. Had the Chicken Karage, Salted Caramel Eclair and New Orleans Cold Brew -- All so good! Would love to come here again to try more dishes.. the other coffees and a few all-day breakfasts.

Possible the best food (upmarket) and coffee in the county!

It's a fushion restaurant, so expect the unexpected. The seabass is nice but the noodle is fried too crispy. The sirlion is tender n juicy, but they put the chili powder on the veggies. Very nice decorated and they use real fresh flowers, nice touch.

Not entirely sure why I kept getting bad reviews about this place, but I really enjoyed dining here at alter ego. I love their “bowl” dishes and variety array of delicious desserts. The staff is also friendly and ambience of the place is great.

A place to splurge on tasty food and welcoming service. Mushroom soup is so rich and comforting, well seasoned too. But can't say the same for their classic burger which has an overly salted beef patty and fries. The salmon was perfectly grilled and plated. Despite the hits/misses, I like this place for the ambience and friendly crew who's diligent to check every customer's Bruhealth.

Food, coffee, and decor were great. Had a beef burger and grilled steak grain bowl. The beef burger had a thick patty and crispy freshly fried shoestring fries. The bowl was competent and we'll presented though I would have liked more beef. Coffee was excellent

Awesome Fusion cafe restaurant. We happened to be here for an unrelated reason but ended up having lovely lunch and the best Latte's I can remember for a long time. Totally chill, friendly staff and lovely way to unwind a Sunday afternoon. Food esthetics and general atmosphere just really perfect.

Trendy place!

Cafe looks amazing on the outside. Design looks amazing but can't say same as food. Food quality was above average but the quantity is ridiculous. You get so little food for your money. May not eat here again.

Really fresh and delicious food. Consistently high standards of cleanliness and fantastic service. The decor is beautiful and well maintained. Cake display is gorgeous but not tasted any due to allergies. The food comes out altogether and is always hot . Drinks are a little pricey compared to the food, but for handcrafted drinks that taste so amazing, it's worth the price. Highly recommend the steak grain bowl and the ginger pandan drink.
