Avoid at all costs. The waiters are extremely rude ; The food was served without providing any forks or knives; Just forget about asking for a toast, that you are supposed to recieve with your dish ; The food is nothing special, the menu is scares and over priced. Just go to another restaurant across the street. You will have a better time!

Well...this used to be my solid address where to go. Nothing too fancy but good food, place where not a lot can go wrong. I took there some friends who visited me because I knew they always have some Belgian classics on the menu. The food is OK - it's not bad but also nothing exceptional. OK - I mean, the meatballs and the vol-au-vent were correct, tasted as they should. I'm disappointed by the size of the portions - for the price they are asking, I don't think you should get a such a small portion of french fries (seriously - my kids can eat 3x this amount) with your meal. Especially not in the home-country of fries and not just few meters from the famous Maison Antoine fries place. If you feel like you could grab a portion of fries to go from the Maison Antoine when you leave a restaurant - something must be wrong, right? Also - the prices of the drinks, it's a real rip-off. Already a soft drink for 3.50 euro is kind of expensive, but the beers??? WTF are they thinking. 7 (read: seven) euro for a Leffe? One day before we were in another restaurant where Orval was for 3 euros...here they ask 9 or 10 euro for it (don't remember exactly)... I will definitely not go there again. There are many restaurants in Brussels where you can get the same quality (or better) and cheaper. Here, I really feel like they are just abusing their location on Place Jourdan (but guys - there is nothing else than restaurants around you...) and by the name which used to mean something. I don't mind spending lot of money in a restaurant, but in that case - I do not want to feel hungry when I walk out and I want a quality and do not want to feel like thieves went through my wallet asking high prices for something which is not worth it.

A fine brasserie in Jourdain with good service, good food and a relaxed atmosphere. Having researched the brasseries in Jourdain, L'Espirit de Sel seemed a good option and, in the mood for some classic Belgian steak frites, I wasn't disappointed. The waiter (Richard) was extremely helpful in selecting a good wine, and the steak frites I ordered (with a non-traditional but tasty garlic sauce) were great. I think some of the reviews here a little harsh - my experience was extremely positive and given that my meal came to a total of €27 - including wine - I think this place offers great value for a money, and a solid brasserie experience.

The shrimp croquettes is nice. The cod fish is a bit flat in taste though.

L'Esprit de Sel is a nice Brasserie located in Place Jourdan, nicely decorated, not too fancy, comfortable seating, so nothing unpleasant regarding the place per se and its location. The menu is quite detailed, there's also an English translation for people not speaking French or Dutch, many choices so you can easily find something that you like. Personnel is friendly, however the service is rather slow. We had to wait more than 40 minutes to served which is quite a lot considering that we booked a table for our lunch break. The food in general was ok, it's a decent choice but nothing more than this.

My husband had the oysters and the Tuna - he was really happy with his choices. I had the osso bucco with the Risotto. The meat was a little dry but still enjoyable. The house wine was very good. We've been here a couple of times and have always found the service very good and friendly.

Very good Belgian-French cuisine. The Belgian specialities and shrimp croquettes are one of the best in Brussels. Nice terrace and friendly staff! Definitely worth a visit!

I've come to this place a few times and always had good experiences so far. Essentially a friendly neighborhood brasserie, without pretension but delivering on quality. The Irish steak and fries was delicious - truly excellent meat and perfectly cooked. The snails starter was also pretty nice.
