We attended for a family birthday and had the function room booked out. It was a good space for us all and had a lovely afternoon catching up with family and friends. It suited our needs. Would I return, no. The function room is dated and needs a bit of an uplift. The Sunday lunch wasn't great, considering the money that was spent on the function. The veg over done, the potatoes barely cooked, the wrong meals came out to tables, as staff had no idea what was in their hands. The cakes were dry and barely edible. I'm glad there was homemade birthday cake that we brought ourselves to go round everyone instead. I would say there's a lot of lovely pubs/restaurants in the local area, that charge less for Sunday lunch and taste great. The staff were mostly new working there but having a basic idea of how to talk to people, be polite and maybe not swear would be nice. There were a number of people who did not appreciate the language. One young girl, had no idea. She went to tables with the wrong drinks, then have a go at the person, saying 'well I don't know who's ordered them' in a very bitter tone. She would take orders for drinks that would not arrive. Every time she came to the table she was flustered and would voice that she didn't no what she was doing or complain. I asked if the welcome drink was alcoholic, she shrugged at me, commenting she had told people they weren't alcoholic. Although the one I'd picked up definetely was. Don't recommend eating here.

Perfectly pleasant stay at a reasonable price. The staff here were friendly and helpful. One minor error with the breakfast price was swiftly remedied and we enjoyed our weekend. 😁

Called in 6 people without booking after the carvery had finished but was still able to be seated, as such it was pretty quiet so we were served quickly. The food was a set menu but really good choice and selection.

Easy to find and close to Wrexham. Fantastic food, super breakfast and lovely staff. Oh, and a carvery not to be missed. Returned to stay 3 times and always consistently good. Wouldn't consider anywhere else.

Travelled up from Bath for funeral and wake. The event room was clean, neat and tidy and with well set tables and chairs. It was a Monday and they were a bit short of staff but they managed well and were all very polite and helpful. Food was a buffet style, teas and coffees plus there was a bar available. They cateredfor Carnivores and Vegans! Chips/wedges were of course delicious for everyone! Very large car park and outdoor area which looked very nice. We did not stay overnight as we all had work following day.

Cant fault the greeting on arrival. Parking plentiful. Room clean with a window I can open. Tea and coffee as usual. Had midweek carvery in the Christmas decorated dining room. Food was delicious. All staff attentive Naming Mark on reception and greater in dining room and Kirsty in dining room. That is customer service as it should be. No one should be disappointed if they stay here

Used this hotel for a family birthday event. Worked out perfectly. Had a room set up for our exclusive use. Pre ordered food and service was smooth. Felt it was good value for celebrating a significant birthday.

We went to the restaurant for my mum's 60th birthday yesterday (Nov 1st 2023) and the staff were brilliant accommodating every request including playing showawaddy through their speaker. Writing happy birthday in chocolate for her dessert 10/10 is unfair score so impressed and the staff were impeccable they need rewarding. Thank you Holt lodge restaurant

Stayed 2 nights for training course. Check in bit frosty but was 21.35. Nice friendly staff, good breakfast, rooms OK but tv could do with upgrade....

Arrived on Tuesday night and the receptionist wasn't friendly at all. Television wasn't working, spoke to receptionist the next day and they said they would sort it. Still wasn't working when I arrived back, had to change rooms. New room had the added features of cobwebs on the lamp shades. Nasty odour as you walked down the corridor to my room. Breakfast only served after 7:00, no good to me as I was leaving at 07:10 for work. Should have been staying there for two more weeks but have cancelled it.

The Holt Logde had been recommended to me by a friend who had previously been there for a carvery. On arrival, we were seated in the middle of the room with a view of the gardens. It took 20 minutes to serve a soup and two paté and another long wait until we were told we could go for our main at the carvery. The food itself was really good and cooked to perfection. Following the main course, we waited for another 20 for someone to offer us the sweet menu, so I went to ask at the till. So when it failed to materialise after a further 10 minutes, we went to the till to pay and leave. (Sick of waiting) The meal was very reasonably priced, and the quality couldn't be faulted. But the service/staff need to find a way to improve the experience!

Stayed overnight to attend a wedding in nearby Wrexham. Do not get breakfast £10 for snotty eggs cheap sausage even toast was burnt. Told staff of issues no alternative or a fresh meal offered. Will not be staying here again

Went on mother's day for a carvery, food was spot could not fault it, but service was terrible, weren't told how the carvery works or anything, after some time waiting i had to go to the bar to order drinks myself because the waitress I called over and ordered drinks with hadn't even told the bar man. Would of been 5 stars if the staff looked after their customers better.

Lovely hotel for the price. Room was what was expected and clean. We had the cooked breakfast 😋 and can honestly say it was the best hotel full english I've ever had!! I'd probably go back just for that. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful too. Thank you.

Such a lovely location, I was watching a tractor hay baling while eating dinner. So quiet in the evening too, just what I needed after a long day working remotely. The staff were so nice. Breakfast was great too, after a nice night's kip. Ideally located for access to Wrexham. Also of note, the free WiFi connection is fantastic! No buffering at all. Oh, and see if you can spot the monkey when you go!

Just spent New years eve here with my partner and parents. Arrived at 3pm, our room was 203. Basic but clean so that will do me. My parents room was 352, that was absolutely gorgeous (bridal suite). We did pay more for this room for them. So worth it. Bar staff were excellent all day/night. New years eve gala dinner - staff came round with a glass of fizz and canapés which was a lovely start. Dining room was set out lovely. The food was absolutely fabulous!! 2 starters which were gorgeous. Lamb shank...fell off the bone and plenty of it. All nice and hot too. Dessert was delicious then coffee and cakes. Waiting on staff were excellent, they didn't stop all evening. Oliver really looked after us, what a lovely young lad. Entertainment was fantastic too. Michael Buble tribute 👍. Breakfast this morning was great too. To all the team at Holt Lodge, thank you for a fabulous stay. I know how short staffed everywhere is but you absolutely nailed it!!

Went for afternoon tea and was absolutely exceptional, very friendly and courteous staff the lady who served us just couldn't have done enough for us and the hotel has beautiful surroundings, the place was immaculate and our tea was absolutely divine, I will definitely return and would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Stayed in room 108, when we booked the room it said bath, unfortunately we had a shower, absolutely horrible night sleep, bed was very springy, the rooms next to us were up at 6am, playing music on there phone, this woke us up...as we could hear everything through the walls, we could hear every conversation they was having, in and out of the corridor door, that kept slamming everytime some one walked through.. the hallway started to stink of cigarette smoke.. definitely one of the worst night sleeps we had had while supposed to be on holiday. Food was not too nice, starters lovely, we had curry for our mains, the curry needed to be cooked out it was too powdery, very very salty, we had cheese cake for pudding, I wanted fudge cake but unfortunately they didn't have any, the cheese cake was very gloopy seemed like eating wallpaper paste, it wasn't strawberry it was just garnished with half a strawberry and strawberry sauce, unfortunately very disappointed, will not be returning.

Went for a family dinner and found the restaurant very quiet and the menu very traditional. The food however was tasty with good portions.

I have stayed here numerous times and always been extremely satisfied. Unfortunately this time was not the case. I have contacted the hotel and to be fair to them they have compensated me. Apart from that issue, the stay was good. Bed was a little high for my short legs! One of the chairs had also seen better days and I was reluctant to sit on it as it appeared rickety. No breakfast included this time! The room price had also increased to £80, for a rather ordinary room. It did the job but I was a little disappointed. The food and staff were excellent and we did enjoy the special occasion we were attending.

Friendly staff. Good parking. Good jump off point for the Business Park about 6 mins by car. Bed comfortable with the room clean though a little sparse but very doable all the same. Breakfast is good as was the evening fish and chips with a lot on the plate!

Very welcoming hotel and friendly staff, really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel was in great condition and looks very well presented. The room was great too. Would definitely stay here again.

Our room smelt of Bo, there was hair in the shower and on my pillow. The walls were so thin we could hear a neighbours phone vibrate. There was a wedding on so I assume this made the regular dinner service suffer as dinner was really bad. Olives were served with stale burnt toast - just serve olives! The staff were kind though, just rushed off their feet. We did complain and they offered us a new room but it was late in the evening and couldn’t be bothered to move.

Staff were great. Can't say the same for the facilities. Dead plants, shabby paintwork, tired furniture unkempt shrubbery not even a glass in the bathroom. The absolute bare minimum in the room. The place is neglected.

I stayed in room 205 on the 17th May until the 19th. The bad points: 1. Walls are paper thin so you can hear literally everything from nearby guests. 2. Cleaning - Place isn’t too great for housekeeping. Lots of marks on walls etc 3. Room - no air in the rooms at all and windows don’t open fully 4. Food - Limited menu, overpriced and horrible!!! Ordered a burger the first night and it was dripping with grease. 5 - reception - older lady in reception wasn’t the friendliest on my arrival I stay in Wrexham on business 2-3 days a week but would avoid using this place again. I tried it out as Travel lodge have introduced paying to park. I would rather sleep in a tent than this hotel. AVOID

Had a private party there, room ok, service slow, people who were not having carvery had finished their main meal before before others started.Staff at the bar could not fault.

Simple but reasonable. Rooms were basic but comfortable. Shower was very good. Cooked breakfast was tasty but the bits and bobs on self service were a bit basic - hot water wasn't hot, juices weren't filled, lack of teaspoons. And please, please consider using jam pots that are recyclable instead of endless plastic single serve pots.

Great Sunday Carvery in the restaurant. Choice of 3 meats, then add Yorkshire, Stuffing, Pig in blanket, 2 types potato, 5 types of veg. And gravy! Good friendly service from a young and enthusiastic team.

The hotel was clean if a bit dingy and dated. Service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant was almost empty when I was there. Service was ok if a bit slow and my chips were cold. I wasn't asked how my meal was until I'd finished it. I'd stay here again in a pinch but the place lacked charm and polish and felt like it had been forgotten about many years ago.

Setting is beautiful, went for a Sunday roast for a birthday celebration, wouldn't rush back sadly, meat tough and fatty, roast potatoes so hard , best bit was cauliflower cheese.
