Four stars food because the cake was dry and my broccoli cheese was just okay. The cheese used was mild in flavor I prefer to be able to taste my cheese. Coffee again just okay nothing special. You would think with the number of visitors they could try harder. I have had better for the same money. Setting that aside the atmosphere was fantastic and I enjoyed all the bikes plenty of seating and a relaxed friendly place to go with stunning views. Don't go if you want a nice peaceful stop to have a quiet break on your journey. This is more of a bikers destination and it's not quiet. I can't speak for the winter months where things could be different. I would go again. It's a great ride.

Love coming up here on my motorbike. Great little cafe. Love the chicken curry. It's great when all the bikers are here on a sunny day, nice to look about. Can be a bit of a wait when it's busy but the staff do try to get food and drinks served quickly. Reasonable prices on food and drinks and always clean and tidy.

Overall a good place to have a coffee or some food. Fairly outdated interior but very cleanly kept. Good staff, helpful and polite. Simple but tasty food, always consistent. Old school cafeteria system of getting food, works well for how busy the place gets. Takeaway bit available outside for the summer months as well as the main sit-in section. Brilliant cakes/scones & ice cream too. Toilets definitely could be better. Prices are slightly on the pricey side but not mega, plus you’re paying for the location. Speaking of location, it’s outstanding, there is no better location for a cafe, end of. No matter which direction you look, there’s the most unbeatable scenic views. Because of this, and the fact it has a good size car park, there’s usually always a meet of some sort going on there, usually cool cars or motorbikes to be seen there. People travel miles to be there.

Came for lunch the other day, gutted that the gift shop was shut. Food was absolutely beautiful. Fair prices too. Cafeteria system works well, old school but is pretty quick service. Especially with how busy it can get. Lovely views and lots of places to walk aswell.

Sorry not as good as it used to be, I've been driving up horseshoe pass for 30 years. Bus drivers no longer stop there, don't know why, shop closed down, only thing that's not changed is the mountains, slate tip and mine, and the view across the land to Llangollen, shame i don't know if it was the pandemic, or not moving with the times. So a lot of people take a flask, some sandwiches, stop at the side of the road going up, and just might buy an ice cream at the huge cost of living price.

You will not find a café in the UK with nicer views, as it is on the side of a mountain with breathtaking views of the Welsh countryside, And on any sunny day the carpark will have large numbers of motorbikes, so great to go and have a look around. There is also a nice Welsh giftshop on the premises. And as for the food!!! Excellent selection of great food at a reasonable price.

I love it here. Simple food, good views and plenty of bikes and some classic cars to look at. Great riding round the area. My coffee break at Ponderosa was very welcome. Very geared up to support the rider with visor spray often available too 👍

This is a great place to take a break and have some home made food. The prices are very indispensable and food is freshly made, so excellent value. The cafe is located on the top of the horseshoe path and the views on a clear day are breathtaking. Make sure you leave some extra time to take a short walk to make the most of the views. Bikers ‐ This is a favourite stop-off for bikers traveling into North Wales. It makes a great meeting point and it's normal to see rows of bikers grabbing is hot drink before hitting the tight turn of North Wales.

Good honest grub in spectacular countryside. We arrived in pouring rain sat in a window seat and enjoyed our lunch with amazing views of landscape at first and then watched the clouds roll in. Had a full breakfast and it was very nicely cooked and very tasty, we will be back.

Fantastic place for a quick light meal or cuppa. Stunning location with amazing views - the sheer peace and silence outside is breathtaking too. Well worth a detour to swing round the Horseshoe Pass if you're nearby.

Had a lovely breakfast with the other members of the mini club, very friendly staff Only marked down because there was a bit of hard gristle on my bacon (and there was a cute little mouse running through the lower seating area)

Great location to travel to and meet motor mates. Massive carpark and an overspill over the road. Clean toilets. Big selection of food and drink all at a reasonable price. Staff friendly. Outside seating and ice cream.

Beautiful views from the cafe, we stopped off for our lunch. Very reasonable priced. Would recommend the steak & mushroom pie with chips, veg & gravy. It was delicious along with 2 lattes. Will definitely call in here when next in the area.

Friendly, attentive staff, reasonably quality food (buffet style) at a slightly above average price in a beautiful setting. Observed a good crowd of both motorcyclists and walkers visiting. Well worth a visit, will be going back.

Ok place to stop for the views, but cafe needs to sort out the mess the floors are in the extra seating area. Also checking the toilets more often would be a very good idea. Unfortunately the great gift shop is no more, thought we touched a thorny spot when we asked about it.

This part of the world is a treasure!! The views, the atmosphere, and the smile on my son's face... this place will earn a spot in your heart. I will be returning. The good and coffee are both excellent. Thank you for existing!

Always wanted to stop here as a biker as you can see there are lot of bike parked up. There probably is a reason for that being good price good atmosphere and service. Today I stopped here for the first time with my bike. Awesome day out!🏍

Fantastic roads to and from The Ponderosa (watch out for the speed limits). Amazing views when you get there. Food isn't the greatest but lots of choice and friendly staff. And if you like motorbikes you will have plenty to look at!!

Called in after coming across it at the top of the Horse Pass, a very spectacular part of Upper Llangollen. Only tried some drinks but noticed it had quite a nice menu. Decor a bit plain but comfortable. This place is a Haven for Motor cyclist, must have been 40 there when we were there. Will definitely call again and try out the food, it looked very nice

Great spot, girls working there are great and friendly. Food didn't look very appealing to me, bit there was a lot of folk eating there who seemed to be regulars. We had sausage baps, sauces were tasty but the bread roll weren't great and had a cheap smell.

🚲 🚲 🚲 🚲 🚲 Torn between 1 and 2 stars, but Google says 1 = "hated it" and that's not true, but certainly wouldn't stop again. Stopped on a glorious sunny day after cycling up the pass from Llangollen and could not have been more unimpressed with the food. I've felt better after a late night kebab. Nothing but the stodgiest chips chips and chips with curry, fish, sausages etc. We had the chicken curry and sausages and beans and both were very disappointing. Might have expected this from some dead end truckers stop cafe but this felt pretty unacceptable today. They've a monopoly on food at the top so that's all you get, seriously need to up their game. Only reason not 1 star is that the prices weren't a rip off which many places in that position might do, so that was nice. Other than that, it's a very busy car park full of motorbikes, which is not to mark it down, but just something to know in advance. If you're looking for a quiet stop with nice clean food, maybe a good beer or even a little bit healthy, this is not it. If you've used your own legs to get up the hill, pedal on to something better (which is nowhere nearby, so packed lunch it). The poor review is all on the food. Coffee was also woeful.

This is a great location to visit and to spend a day in North Wales. The cafe food was a good price and very good . It is dog, motorbike and walker friendly it had lots of young staff who were very attentive and friendly and worked hard to engage customers.

Popped in whilst out for a top-down drive over the Horseshoe Pass. It's a funny looking place from the outside, but inside its a perctly normal cafe. From the carpark you'll find great views of the Welsh countryside, and a starting point for some hilly treks. Inside you can fill up on big breakfasts and barms of a sandwich. Service was excellent and friendly. Opted for a trusty bacon, sausage and egg barm and it wasn't bad. Perhaps a little pricey, but it's a captive audience I guess. No doubt I'll frequent again on another Sunday morning drive out!

Didn't stay so can't rate rooms but cafe is great as is the service, coffee is fine, cake was yum 😋 Love going there with buddies on the bike or in the car with the better half. Great riding road but watch for gravel traps in road from runoff in the rain.

We had a quick snack here, absolutely loads of parking (although 2 hr restriction) the views and area are stunning. Food was good and hot and not bad price for location. Toilets available and can be used by people not purchasing from the cafe for a donation. Good seating areas inside and out

Predominantly a motorcycle hangout but you also get a lot of cars, cyclists & walkers. 2 hour limit in the car park. 20p to use the loo if you're not a customer. Good coffee & cake 🙂 friendly staff great location.

This age-old cafe has been a favourite watering hole for locals, tourists and bikers year In, year out. The food is worthy of any restaurant, the price amazing and service exemplary. Dont miss out!

  • 4/5 Richard E. 6 months ago on Google
Although this long standing favourite definitely needs some TLC and upgrade on its decor it's very clean and bright with fabulous views. But the other main attraction is the quality and very affordable price of its food which is very comforting in its 1970's style and that really is a fabulous welcome in these times. It's both a destination for lunch and a great place to stop off at on your journey . Long may this place never change

Super spot at top of the Horse Shoe Pass, great views, lots of bikers and nice cars. Reasonably priced cafe meals a bit canteen like bit clean and tidy. They do proper plate steak pie.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE! You wont find a cafe with better views I assure you of that. Set right up in the hills and its amazing. Just a heads up brekkie only served until 11am, we arrived 10:58am and had the scraps but still lovely.

Cafe at the summit of the Horseshoe Pass. Self service and off road parking. Popular with bikers and can get busy in good weather. Lovely views

A very good stop-off for folks travelling to the coast, a great place for walkers and bikers to visit. Decent cafeteria food, slightly above average price, but still decent value. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

I've been here regularly and each time never had a problem, parking or getting served. Staff have always been friendly and polite, prices reasonable and food always enjoyable. Toilets for customers too. Great location.

We turned up for lunch and asked a staff member for help because our daughter has allergies to milk and nuts. He checked the ingredients of the food we had selected and even fried some chicken nuggets especially. Lovely friendly helpful staff, we weren't made to feel an inconvenience and the staff member who helped us was amazing. Food was delicious and surroundings breathtaking.

Lovely food and great fish and chips. The batter is crispy and the fish is still flacky inside. Lovely views. A great place for motorbikes too. Just watch out for wondering sheep, they like to stand at the edge of the road. Sometimes they'll come over when you're eating.

Lovely views on way up and down. If you're not stuck behind a coach or two. (Bikers, if you leave the cafe, and turn right, beware of the cattle grid at bottom of hill, its exactly where you might still be standing bike up after gentle right hander. Squeaky moment when wet)

A stunning location and fantastic place to visit if you're big on motorbikes, there's always plenty up there, bikers are notoriously friendly and chatty so don't be afraid to say hello to some of us! The only downside to this place is the food isn't the greatest, it's pretty bog basic stuff, cheap sausage and the chips aren't special but it'll fill a hole in your stomach if you're hungry. Still one of my favorite places despite this due to the fantastic views and lovely roads to ride. There's a cute gift shop and the toilet facilities are fairly good.

Great place to stop and have a tasty breakfast. My husband had the big breakfast, I had beans on toast and both were lovely. Tea & coffee was good. Staff were friendly and helpful 🙂

Great place to grab a bite to eat. Good coffee. Large seating area inside and out. Nice atmosphere, plenty of bikers meets and classic cars.

  • 5/5 Pete G. 2 years ago on Google
Really nice cafe that's geared (no pun intended) around bikers but everyone is welcome and everyone there seemed really friendly. The staff are on the ball, service at the counter is quick and pleasant. Had a chip bap which I've not had in years, can definitely recommend. Brews are good and prices are fair. The pass up to here is a great ride to stretch your bike's legs. Scenery is lovely - definitely recommend.

Great, typical biker's haunt. Busy of a weekend, and don't expect a high quality cooked breakfast and coffee! Not a disappointment though, as long as you know what to expect. Great views on the way up and down too.

  • 5/5 Paul H. 1 year ago on Google
Haven't visited the Horseshoe pass in over 30 years but it was magnificent. The views were amazing, and I thought it rude not to have a bite to eat and a drink. I went with a bacon and egg bap and a coffee both of which were very nice and enjoyable. Truth be told I could have another.

  • 4/5 Pam S. 10 months ago on Google
Called in today to get a drink in the lovely weather. I have to admit I quite miss the shop in the clouds. Brought some cold drinks which were reasonably priced. Although it was lunch time it was not as busy as it normally is. Would still recommend but feel that it is missing something now.

Great place to stop for a coffee &/or a meal. We had fish & chips (eating in) 👍😊. Great views & drive up & over the Horseshoe Pass. Update: Once again we visited here on our journey home from Wales but this time we went for breakfast. We had the double egg on toast which was very nice and reasonably priced but must admit when we arrived I was disappointed to see this was the only thing on the menu for vegetarians, it would have been nice to see a vegetarian cooked breakfast & vegetarian sausage baps. Still looking forward to returning & hoping the breakfast menu has been extended. 😃

Having been a regular customer for many years I was a little puzzled to see a recent review stating the staff were very unhelpful and rude. During my numerous visits each year I have never personally encountered this. That said I thought I would visit today and whist having a meal I purposely observed the staff, from the food servers to the cashiers and any staff clearing dishes from the tables.i can honestly say I was not disappointed, everyone was so polite and friendly, and especially helpful to the elderly passengers on the coach trip. I will definitely continue to be a regular customer. 👍🏻

Haven't been for a while but nice cafe grub and lovely views. I loved the photos showing how the place has changed in the years the family have had it. Should be proud, nice biker crowd up there too and see the odd tasty car too.

  • 5/5 Paul H. 1 year ago on Google
I'm a biker so what's not to like about coming here, you get to ride some great roads to get here with some wonderful views, and once there see lots of other people with motorcycles enjoying this place, great coffee and food too.

Great spot on the top of a hill just outside Llangollen. Clean and functional partially self-service cafe. We stopped there on a snowy weekday. Ponderosa is the perfect break after super tobogganing up there ❄️😁❄️

Great location to RV with the Grandkids - Super Lunch and then play in the snow for a couple of hours afterwards. Would recommend and of course visit again but would also ask if they could raise the Union Flag 🇬🇧 the correct way round 🫣

Old fashioned but in a nice location with stunning views and the food is cheap and tasty enough. Would avoid on warm summers weekends due to being extremely busy.

😠 Poor food and service. We booked for 5 Sunday lunch. It's our fifth visit over a span of a few years. We visit the area and booked there as we are close. I have enjoyed it in the past and left good reviews. The last two times were not good. The Sunday lunch was served with a choice of Chicken, Be...
