A lovely quirky venue to stay. The proprietor couldn't be more helpful. The evening food, and breakfast were both lovely. Staff were very attentive and did their up most to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. Considering this was their first few days of opening again, with covid restrictions, they've done a good job to try to get things right. Would definitely revisit for both food and a stay.

Gales is the oldest wine bar in Wales with loads of history, quirky rooms and great service. The Eisteddfod was on,the hotel busy so we were lucky enough to stay in the cottage attached to the wine bar.Far too big for two people but it has excellent rooms and it's own carpark which is a big plus.At the rear of Gales they have there own quirky beer garden with the drinks being served from a horse box,you couldn't make it up.Everybody at Gales were so friendly, service was great and it was an excellent weekend.Roll on next year.

We had a lovely stay, room was lovely. We were given 24 pounds worth of vouchers which was very generous. We had breakfast there which was lovely french toast. We got our drinks and then waited about 50 mins for the food we were told the normal chef was on leave so we ordered more drinks when the food arrived as we had finished our original ones a long time before while waiting for the food and were charged for them which seemed wrong considering the wait and left a sour taste.

Old Wine bar in Llangollen which also serves a decent selection of bottled and canned ale( goods non - alcoholic options.) known for food too I had a Sunday roast a while back. . Also hosts folk music events on a Sunday now and again so check online. Also has djs on now and again. Welsh and English language. Recommended 🍷 🍻 🎶 🎸 🎤 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🍲

Absolutely beautiful location and amazing service. I stayed here with my Dad for a night on our travels, we had the most amazing 3 course meal and were even given a £6 food/drink voucher each to go towards our meal! Staff are super friendly and the vibe is calm and cheerful. The rooms are a little outdated but honestly it adds to the rustic feel and due to the old building it's what you would expect. 10/10 recommend staying here ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a beautiful place to stay, eat and drink! All of the staff was lovely. The bedroom was spacious, clean and had an extremely comfortable bed. The food and wine was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. Will be definitely be staying again. Thanks for a lovely stop over in such a beautiful town.

What a fabulous place to stay, eat and drink wine . I had Katsu curry the best ever curry, Oldest wine bar in Wales full of character and charm. Staff are so friendly and helpful. It’s a must we will return.

This little gem of a wine bar/hotel is brilliant for staying central in Llangollen! Love the rustic oldy worldy rooms & great for bringing your pet dog too. Stayed here a few times and the staff are very welcoming. Just have to say… young lily who served our food & drinks was absolutely amazing! So well mannered and polite, she couldn’t have done anymore for us. She truly went above and beyond. The wine she recommended was beautiful & spot on, also offering to taste other wines first was a nice touch! (Although we stuck with her choice) lily will be an asset to any employer… Top class waitress ! As for the food… couldn’t fault anything… highly recommend sea bass (with creamy kelp) absolutely beautiful! Easter weekend stay for us and many more I’m sure.

Lovely family run collection of businesses right in the heart of town. Quality wine shop, wine bar, en-suite rooms and gift shop all set around a wonderful period building. Wine bar has outdoor seating set around the perimeter of the rear courtyard. Guests who stay get a £6 per person voucher. This can be used against food or any other purchases from the Gales businesses on site. This needs to be done during the dates of your stay. Everything is well put together and more than you would expect of each individual offering. As a result the whole Gales experience is superb.

What a fabulous little hotel. I’m not sure if we were just a lucky late booking, but for just over a hundred quid (less the £12 in vouchers they gave out) we had an ancient entrance, a beautiful living space and a huge bedroom/bathroom. Anyone who travels in the UK will recognise that as exceptional value. More importantly, it’s beautiful, charming, the staff are just wonderful and it’s right in the middle of this delightful village. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Absolutely incredible place to eat and stay. The food is second to none. We ate breakfast and two evening meals here. The duck breast, burgers, katsu curry and breakfast were all fantastic. Great quality and large portions. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the location was bang in the centre. We can't recommend this place enough. The staff and service were 10/10 Thank you for a fantastic stay.

A lovely old building with plenty of character, rooms are very quirky and a little small as expected but the bed was very comfortable. The bar has an old style feel about it with NO 'Sports TV' woohoo! Breakfast was very good and we used our vouchers (received at check in) so worked out very cheap. Great to park the motorcycle in the courtyard. Disliked · Room 4 (top floor on the bar side). The room was dusty (poor house keeping) and had a number of issues. The most important, in the bathroom the floor tiles are broken and loose exposing the sharp edge of the ceramic tile. We got over it by leaving a towel on the floor but it needs to be repaired asap. The TV (which didn't work) and kettle are supplied by a four plug extension lead that was too short so using the spare plug sockets for the hair dryer or a phone charger was hazardous. There were no water classes in the room. I'd love to recommend it but the place needs some attention.

Room was quite nice but the shower pressure was very poor. Staff nice and pleasant. Stayed Saturday night 18th November. Next morning went into their restaurant for breakfast. This was disappointing. Only do scrambled eggs but the chef needs to learn how to make them. They were sloppy and runny. Proper scrambled eggs resembles popcorn shaped pieces. Cooked with butter and seasoned. Not rocket science but these were awful. Wouldnt eat there again of the 'chef' cabt even do basic stuff. I was running a restaurant at 19 years of age and never sent anything out of my kitchen I wouldnt have been more than happy to eat myself. Thankfully.we have booked elsewhere for christmas in Llangollen. Rooms are not the best and was tatty in need of some basic improvements. I always give honest reviews.

What a great place. Stopped here for a coffee whilst staying in the area (best coffee I’ve had in ages) and asked whether they had a table for the evening. It was NYE so they were full. Anyway, the owner ended up squeezing us in at an earlier time and I am so so grateful. The food was excellent, the wine pairings were excellent, the vibe was laid back, the decor is great. It was a lovely balance between casual and sophisticated which I adore. It’s dog friendly which is rare for a wine bar and this was so appreciated - the staff even gave our pup a dog sausage and a piece of bacon which she was chuffed with. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Thank you for fitting us in, I’m not sure anywhere else in town would’ve met my expectations - I am so picky! I’m very happy you squeezed us in. Thank you 😊

I had the urge to come and try one of your burgers today, so I packed a bag and the dog and drove the 100+ miles and I can safely say I wasn't disappointed! It was Amazingly Lush! The service was impeccable, please take my compliments and share them with the young blonde lady that was serving outside and the gentleman that had a black and gold patterned top. They were fabulous and even topped up my water bottle for dog on the drive home! Thank you for the reason I had a fabulous little day out!

Quiet countryside setting along the river. Excellent service and personnel. Buildings seem to be 'organically developed ' and the result somewhat of a simple maze.

Fantastic place! We went here last minute on a Saturday night for food. The place was extremely busy but we still managed to get a table and food. The staff were working there socks off to make sure everyone was happy and being served. The food we ordered came out in good time and was delicious and fresh. On top of this the wine selection is brilliant. Worth dropping in for a glass of wine and a bite to eat.

We went into Llangollen tonight for a meal. Our first choice was fully booked, so we had a walk around. Discovered this place. Lovely ambience, so requested a table. So glad we did. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and attentive, but not over so. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We will return and sample the wine menu rather than the excellent IPA next time. Recommended.

Great place for food and a drink, but if like me you prefer your coffee 'extra hot' (i.e. milk heated beyond the usual) you'll likely be disappointed. The coffee itself is fantastic though!

We had a lovely meal and a great time when we visited for my eldest daughter's 18th birthday. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and we were looked after well by the friendly staff. I had a steak, cooked exactly as I wanted with salt and pepper calamari as a side. My three youngest children, 22, 18, and 15, all said the vegetarian burger was really different and tasty, and also very filling! A pity my eldest son had to work! Anyway, we were so full we had no room for the exciting looking dessert menu! Next time maybe! If I remember correctly they advertise their menu as "simple food done well" - although my steak may have been simple, it was done well as opposed to well done! Cooked to perfection for me, and really tasty too - the best steak I have had since I was in Buenos Aires a few years ago. I can't wait to go to Gales again and try another meal from the specials board, although the regular menu looks great too. There was also a great selection of alcoholic and soft drinks. A great place to eat and relax after our energetic day at TNR Outdoors, also in Llangollen.

Amazing experience. Great wines enhanced hugely by the expertise of Pip (the manager) and his bottomless knowledge of each vintage we tried. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Lovely little place, excellent wine bar, restaurant choice a little listed but great value and lovely food. Rooms traditional (inkeeping with the settings) clean and good value.

Really cool place, great atmosphere and the kind of place that you could have a round of drinks or a meal and enjoy both equally. Wait staff were busy but still really lovely and helpful. The booths are really nice along with the whole outdoor seating area

We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2021. The location is amazing, the staff is nice and helpful, the breakfast was very delicious. Rooms are tired in a desperate need of TLC, therefore terribly overpriced. We haven't had a very good experience staying at this hotel. We had to clean the bathroom as it was filthy, with hair from the previous guests all over in the sink and shower cubicle. It's highly unlikely that the carpet was hoovered before us as there was litter all over the room left by the previous guests. Parking is limited to a few cars and we were told to park our car somewhere else, plus breakfast is included only up to £6/guest (these are not mentioned in the description).
