I’m new to bouldering (3 months) and am used to a UK club. I was in Krakow for a week and wanted to get some exercise so looked online for good bouldering centers and was disappointed with the reviews of a lot of the other centers so decided on AVATAR. It was further away for me from my apartment but was well worth the trip. They just opened new bouldering walls (see pics) and have even more opening in the next few days/weeks. The routes are very good but labeling not good so I wasn’t sure what level of climb I was on or where the starting holds were, but I coped/figured it out. Holds were fixed well, and were clean. The changing areas were clean and lockers were provided. Price was 1/2 of UK entry fee. I went in the morning during the week so it was empty, but I imagine it gets very busy in the evenings.

Unfortunately I cannot give more than 2 stars due to couple of reasons. First of all the music - on the rope climbing part of the gym it makes almost impossible to communicate without killing your throat plus it makes harder to focus on climbing (if it would be some nice and easy music it wouldn't be that terrible but the music taste of whoever is playing it, is very specific and sometimes hard to handle). No warm food available at all, not even cakes or cold sandwiches. Very old ropes for top rope climbing make people uncomfortable and hard to belay from standard belay devices (generally old equipment). When it comes to cleanliness the gym is basically not being cleaned at all which makes it very dirty. When it comes to temperature - prepare yourself for winter when going to climb in Avatar - wear a down jacket and a hat otherwise will get cold immediately. Fortunately route setting part has improved recently.

Worst bouldering I have encountered so far. The biggest offence is the terrible setting and uninspiring problems. Far too many holds are used to the extent that it's just very messy and difficult to work out what problem you are climbing. You are often obstructed by holds on other routes. No starting holds are marked so you have no idea if you have a standing or a sit start to each problem. The holds are filthy and are either black or caked with chalk. It's also erring on dangerous, a scissor lift was being driven around inches away from customers, and having dismounted from a bouldering problem I hear from above "heads!". The bouldering area shares a landing zone with the lead walls! There's also many a pole brush left lying around to roll an ankle over, and you have poor footholds above volumes and other obstacles to hit on the way down. The grades aren't consistent, which shouldn't have been all that hard as all the grades are lumped into 'easy', 'medium' and 'hard' with several colours in each category. The other amenities are fine, good toliets and changing rooms. Also, the lead walls looked like they had newer holds at least. However, the bouldering was truly awful, I was very disappointed, particularly with the poor setting.

Great wall. The best in Krakow. Lots of roads. Long and in various formations

A good place to check the condition of our fitness and body. A good solution for people climbing alone, there are belay machines and all the equipment needed on site can be rented.

The wall offers great conditions for both rope and bouldering training. In addition to climbing, there is the possibility of strength training or disciplines such as gymnastics and similar. A bistro with tasty food has recently been opened.

One of great places to visit in a free day with kids, and I assume not only kids. Though for me it's really a place for my sons to go to. You want a great fun birthday celebration? They can do it. We were looking for a list minute summer day camp spot - they had it. All in all a very satisfied parent and kids.

If it was a little warmer in the rope area and there was some carpeting on the floor so that you could stand comfortably barefoot, it would be much better. But overall it's cool. This is the best rope climbing wall in Krakow.

Grips were a little dirty, but not to the point of being slick like I've seen elsewhere. Plenty of additional things like food and tables to make a day pass more worthwhile than it would be at other climbing gyms that only have climbing.

This could be a great climbing place but unfortunately it's not. The bouldering area is basically a mess with dirty holds and difficult to see the problems. The rope area is better but most of the routes are honestly set pretty poorly. On top of this the atmosphere is cold and the cafe is basically non existing. Avatar might be the best climbing gym in Krakow but that still doesn't make it good.

I recommend visiting this place. Very nice service and relatively good prices. On the plus side, there is a wide variety of climbing routes and plenty of space. There are also automatic machines available, so you can even climb alone.

Best climbing gym in Krakow! Nice variety of boulders and they have trueblue auto belay devices for wall climbing, if you don't have climbing partner. I go with my 7yo child and it's great place for us bot!

I do not agree with Ksenia's opinion, the trainer from the gym politely asked me to follow the regulations, which stipulate that the only way to enter the gym is to wear sports shoes, and by the way, I have been training here for several years and I have never met more professional trainers, and how does one comply with the guidelines? , greets you nicely and keeps things clean, you can always count on a smile and free professional advice.

Nice climbing gym. Top rope routes are labeled well but the bouldering area is a bit of a mess. Color-coded but not really clear if the routes are accurate.
