I ate there a lot, with my friends. The food in price/value not bad... Cigány pecsenye is one of the best in the district. Staff is nice especially Kitti, the local "stand up comedian"! But when the drunken owner is there with his not so thirsty friends (he mostly there), he can bother you and your friends, and he has no idea whats wrong with it! You can find another place in hundred meters where they know whats means "Restaurant", its not that place... and its not the staff fault...

My husband and I went for a meal for our last night in Budapest last Monday. We were looking for a place where locals go for typical Hungarian fayre. Sure enough, we weren't disappointed on that count as waitress did not speak English. However, it was helpful that the Menu card had translations into English and German. We tried the Fruit Soup and were greatly surprise at its sweetness and spicyness. The main courses were large portions of mostly fried & breaded items, so loved by many. I had the livers and my husband had the pike fish. Both tasted nice and were very filling. For garnish I tried the egg-coated barley which was ok. I would recommend to only have one main course. Unlike previous reviewers, we did not get ripped-off with the bill, they charged us exactly what we were expecting. My scoring is based on the good service provided despite the language barrier.

We ordered food to take away. When we picked up the food it was overcharged. And this was not clarified for us because behind us still other people were waiting. Furthermore the portions are getting smaller and more expensive. Never again

Nice affordable restaurant. If you want to have real Hungarian dishes, this is the place you are looking for. Good quality, reasonable prices, friendly staff, big portions waiting for you here. Make sure you came in less crowded time because the waiting time can be big.

Service is not the best, the waiters are not really friendly and can be quite rude. The restaurant has a nice sheltered terrace, but it is always full of cigarette smoke from the guests and staff members as well. But other than that, the food was always very delicious whenever we visited, and we never had to wait long to get our orders. The prices are also reasonable, so overall I recommend this place.

One time visit with friends after work. Ordered beer and steak fries. Both was good, although the fries were a bit under seasoned for my taste. Place looks nice with a covered terrace to sit out.

Earlier we used to go there sometimes, and we were pleased until now. Seemingly the staff has changed since our first visit. I was disappointed today, especially the waitress was very rude and said to me ,, U have allergies that's why U didn't ask coated meat other time."-btw can be different reasons why a person doesn't eat any coated meat (simply doesn't like,allergy in fact, disease related etc....) - for her I think it is absolutely the same and I don't need to reveal if I have any disease and so on. It is my responsibility what I want to eat and I know by myself as an adult. They have to just serve. Sometimes it is difficult to be nice I understand, but doesn't mean to be rude, humiliating, and especially 'throw the meal' to the customer... I can be more sensible currently as pregnant but even so this behaviour is unacceptable. I am sorry, will skip the place in the future. 2 stars due to the past, when we were absolutely pleased with all.

Delicious regional food but the disadvantage is no English menu and it’s little bit complicated

The food is very good but the waitress was not very attentive. I did ask for water twice but was not given in the end. I want to believe the waitress just forgot and it was not intentional but some restaurants in Budapest are hostile to foreigners. I'll come back if I visit Budapest again.

Basically recommended. He had a lot of guests, or a part of the terrace that wasn't on the street, where every seat was taken. It has a nice name, it belongs to a Latin locality, albino comes from alba (white), which was a royal city in the Middle Ages, so it could be of better quality, and if it's already popular, then let's do business! There is a big problem, they raised the price right in front of my nose: the filtered fruit drink was HUF 180 on the menu, the young lady said HUF 220, I argued with her, she called her colleague, who would have explained that the price was rewritten today, and she brought a product that had been rewritten everywhere , it was very ugly with the white spots, I said the cheapest price is the valid one, he persisted with his rudeness, then bring another menu, the top one from the menu shelf, I was still sitting near the counter, and then before the waiter put the in front of my nose, that's why he peeked into the menu hidden, I told the poor guy not to be afraid. They still have feeling, so they are recommended. Because if he doesn't look into it and it also has the cheaper price, then the real Hungarian waiter would have explained that too and wouldn't have been interested in the fact that I think it's even more immoral. Not recommended for foreigners, non-Hungarian waiters work in this place, it's boring, you won't have a blood-curdling experience of this pure Hungarian breed here, which is unpleasant, but washes our moral senses clean, i.e. there are people worse than me. Oh and yes, I could pay 440 with a bank card without any problems, I just had to go to the bank card cash register. Quality! There is a wireless bank card reading handheld device, but they haven't heard of it, nor are they going to raise the quality, not just the price, right under my nose. Oh, and at the end I apologized to the waitress with whom I started arguing, I also said that I was a little tense, she has nice big round eyes, not from surprise, just like that, they are beautiful, absolutely feminine, I have never seen anything like this before, she also recommended it because of her.

Staff is friendly and You can try some traditional Hungarian dishes here, but I cannot tell much about the quality, as I did not try them since a long time. They have very good pizza, one of the best in the disctrict, I guess, and that is the strenghts of the restaurant in my opinion. As such, it is an average Hungarian resto-pub, with reasonable prizes. The walls are covered with interesting paintings depicting famous Hungarian poets and citations from their masetpieces. either Hungarian politicians and political ads from the 2000's.

Tasty food, good price and nice staff. They have a really good daily meal for a cheaper price during lunch hours, drink and dessert included. Fast service, good atmosphere. It also has a terrace, open when the weather is nice, but nothing exceptional.

Although the place is a time-travel machine back to the eighties somehow, our table is a bit dirty sometimes (we eat here occasionally), the ingredients the dishes are made of not specifically the best quality available, still - they taste good. Probably reminding us to our childhood, when our family not always had the funds to buy the freshest groceries, the purest meat, the best bread. The restaurant has a small, nice garden too. It is dog friendly indoors and outdoors.

Good service and delicious food&drinks! Prices are not so high and the service is also good. Perfect for a drink or to have dinner as well. It's usually busy in weekdays too, so maybe consider to reserve a table before you go. Recommended!
