We had a great time at the Lupa beach and yet it is hard for me to give the place a good rating. Here is why: The entrance price is not cheap. So I kind of expected the service to be good and have some extra for what we payed: we took the extra VIP tickets. Well... even then you need to pay if you want to have a sunbath or a bed. The food and drinks are pretty expensive but they were also good. Downside is that during the week the restaurants close even before the beach itself so don’t expect to have diner there. It is a negative picture and yet I put 3 stars because we had a great time there. The place is calm and beautiful. The water was clean and enjoyable. We appreciated the infrastructure: you can change and shower, you can even enjoy some water sports. Should you go to the lupa beach? I think you should if you want to have a holiday feeling and go out of the city. But don’t expect too much of it and be ready to spend a lot of money.

Spent a nice day there (in Obol, not Strand). However, the management is poor, and I will explain why: 1) Increase in costs. -They started to charge 1,000ft per day as parking ticket (which is the most absurd thing). -They increased the entry price to 2,000ft -Each laying bed costs 1,000ft. Food (in Obol) is averagely priced but not the best quality. A money extracting place to enrich a couple of guys. 2) What dissapointed me the most was the following: An employee girl, young, student, was the one who took care of charging the price for the laying bed. This means walking back and forth, uncessantly under the sun, to charge people. She was making a lot of effort. At the end of the day, I saw her with a bucket cleaning the stinky toilets. In the meantime, and also during the whole day two men "lifesavers", large and aggressive, sitting on the bar chairs, and, when not hitting at the bartender, they constantly whizzled their whizzle at kids that show the minimum of spontaneity while swimming, or making a pyramid, or throwing each other sand. This was also absurd and irrating for everyone around. Some sort of the Hungarian repressed macho complex inside of two young men. The comparison in the above-mentioned story is what says the most about a mediocre management.

The lake itself is totally dirty! (Floating brown alga EVERY WHERE) (two years ago it was crystal clear!) Please clean it for more stars! There is no shelter at the ticket selling area...(We have waited like 15 min when it was 35 Celsius, the heat was burning us. Please make a shelter for more stars! Prices has been increased since last year, apprx. 20-50% depening on the ticket you buy. (3000 HUF ->> 3500 HUF for the premium section, the bay ticket 1000 HUF -->> 1500 HUF). Decrease the prices as it was last year, for one more star! (You can find beer for 600 HUF (2 euro), lemonde for (650 HUF), pancake for 750-800 HUF depening on the taste. ) Two star, because they put a ,,jumping area'' into the middle of the ,,Bay-section'' which was entertaining.

We tried the “premium” beach, and I’m still wondering what justifies an entry fee of HUF 3,000 when you need to pay (a lot) for almost everything once inside. Some parts of the beach look like a construction area, and the toilets and changing rooms (set up in containers that are as hot on the inside as a sauna) are a good 5-10 minute walk away from some parts of the beach! There is practically no natural shade in the entire beach – but there is a lot of sand blowing in the wind. The water is really nice though, and so were the staff. The bars and restaurants are also good, but soft drinks are as expensive as in a fancy downtown restaurant. Finally, you have to pay HUF 1,000 (per day) for parking in an unpaved area in the middle of nowhere, and the parking lot is so dusty that we literally drove straight to a car wash after leaving!

Nice beach great activitys. Good food. Awfus bus service. The bus from the city comes and goes when the driver (who is the owner of the service) is in the mood. We bougt the ticket days early and the bus tobthe beach went just why we calld him. And it did not brought us back. Webasked the driver if the bus will go back according to the schedule and he replyd “Not likely” . The other bus service to the train station works with cash, but the beach website says “do not bring cash, all credit card everywhere”. And after we asked the staff if the bus will go to the train, she said no. So we had to walk back. So be advised if it is any chanse of rain you can only go home after a 40 minute walk in the rain. ( or by car if you come with it)

The water is absolutely disgusting because of the great amount of floating alga. The bay section - the surface is full of alga, the wind carry the most of alga from the whole lake into the little bay - costs 1500 HUF and there is not enough space for a really good swimming. The guards are rude and agressive. This Lupa Beach is a huge rip-off. Lupa lake was a good swimming areaeven before 3-4 years ago, the inhabitants of Budapest and Budakalász loved it, for good swimming, natural environment, but it was gone. RIP Lupa

To go there on foot, is a complete pain in the backside. The beach is ok, but the water is freezing cold. The normal entrance fee is 1000huf, but for the premium you have to pay 3000, and the lake is cold everywhere. This time of the year thats just ridiculous. A well sized sunbed is 5000huf extra for 2 it is well enough. So keeping all in mind, i would better go to aquaworld, because it is 6500 for a whole day with extras like sauna and so on. For this price, it doesn't worth the money. Just to avoid misunderstanding, it looks good, pretty cool at first sight, but the temperature and the overpriceing pushes it to the bottom end.
