Dad Nest became in so many ways a home away from home for me. Describing it to others as a ‘hostel’ just didn’t seem adequate although it can certainly be that for some. The attention to detail yet chill laid back vibe and the staff who felt like friends I’ll never forget. Loved my time here which went from 3 days to 5 to almost two weeks. I know I’ll be back and happy to know that places like this still exist.

Cleanliness: Not Good. This place has fleas. I was a guest here about a month ago (Jan 2019). My second day, I woke up with ~20 incredibly itchy insect bites all over my body, most likely fleas. I couldn't sleep for the next few nights due to the itching, and the discomfort persisted for a week after I left. The person I spoke to who worked there (although it was always difficult to figure out who was actually working..) said the owners had "brought someone in" to get rid of the bugs a few weeks back, but apparently not well enough. She also mentioned that they were not washing their bed linens in hot water. Privacy: Also, not good. I'm a solo traveler so I'm always down to meet people and socialize, but if you're in the 8 person shared room, it's on the first floor next to the living space which means it's VERY LOUD. As in, you can hear every word of every conversation, and when I was there guests liked to stay up till past midnight playing music and partying. Like I said, I'm in my 20s solo traveling, so meeting people is always a good thing, but Das Nest gave you no option for privacy, and it would be much more enjoyable if I had the option to party vs. having it forced on me. Overall, it's a nice space, and it's fine during the day (when most people are out/sleeping) and it's fine if you don't mind being tortured by flea bites for the rest of your trip.

the best hostel in budapest! Cozy, very friendly staff, clean and good rooms. Very well located as well, i saw everything in budapest by using the metro (the station near the hostel is like, 2 mins away) 5/5 would definitely go back!

One of the best hostels I have been. The rooms are good, the location is perfect and the common room is neat and homey. But the community is where it shines. The staff is super nice and it feels like visiting friends and not like a hostel.

Serious warning: This place has bugs. I’m a 27 experienced backpacker (70+ hostels) and would say that Das Nest is nice, cute and cozy, the staff is weirdly fun, the place is well located- honestly would give it a 4.5 stars. Yet I woke up the first morning with 50+ bites from head to toe.. I checked out immediately and found another place to stay, but it literally bumped my time in Budapest as I ran from the pharmacy to the laundry service to heat everything up not to bring them home. Make sure they took care of it before booking, as this seriously ruins the days after such a nightmare.

Extremely nice experience. Stayed here for a two-day trip with a friend, and was surprised at how comfortable this place is. We lived in a four bed room, the beds were solid and comfy, while the public facilities were satisfying as well. Staff was really friendly and nice, too!! Highly recommended.

Very nice atmosphere and cozy common area with lots of tea. We really liked the unique interior and the relaxed vibe of the hosel. Unfortunately, the walls are very thin and you can hear everything at night, particularly the elevator going up and down. Having our window directly next to people passing by also meant we had little privacy unless we closed the curtains. Still, overall a very nice place to spend a couple of nights in Budapest, and the location is amazing!

Many great people come here also great stuff and very nicely decorated. A unique place for sure. I hope they get more locks and better bed booking organization. Definitely will come back

A great homely establishment that promotes a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The hostel workers are all nice and help out in any way possible to make sure you have the best time. If I were to return to Budapest, this would be my very first option. Some great memories hanging at this home away from home. Also, in regards to previous review, from what we experienced, the bedbug issue has been completely sorted and everything ran smoothly ((:

Great hostel. Room was large and bed was very comfortable. Quiet and laid-back place so had good night's sleep. Best thing is the whole place is spotlessly clean and the shared bathroom facilities were very good. The location is excellent z close to Keleti station, easy walk to the centre and near lots of great bars and restaurants. I would happily stay here again.

Got to be the best hostel in Budapest! Great staff, cool vibe, comfy beds, good sized lockers. Clean, well cared for hostel and it felt like home in no time. Thanks to all the team for a great time in my stay!

Das Nest is a cozy home away from home to explore Budapest. Clean but lived-in feel and personal service from all staff members make for a comfortable experience. Also a great environment to meet new people. Breakfast is not available but the kitchen is well-equipped with spices, other common ingredients and appliances. Towels are free and laundry is possible for a fee. I would strongly recommend contacting the hostel about the necessary steps to enter initially, because it can be a bit confusing the first time you go there. It is also important to note that the hostel accepts only cash payments, so it's important to stop at an ATM before your check-in. This is truly a special place to visit and I plan to return the next time I am in Budapest.

MY. ALL. TIME.. FAVOURITE. HOSTEL. in Budapest. I had an incredible time staying there for a couple of days with such an incredible open loft and beautiful lounge. Their kitchen was spectacular. The community feel there made this trip very memorable and a great place to meet people who are also traveling through. Wonderful staff and really sweet People there. I would come back everything time I visit Budapest for sure! Great for working while traveling too as you can have tea and coffee all day looong. Loved this place whole heartedly. Only a few things are missing, like a microwave, and a thick blanket.

probably the coolest and coziest hostel i've ever been in. really feels like home even if you're there for just one night (like we unfortunately were). very colorful and well decorated, gives off a very chill vibe. the staff and other guests were all very nice, friendly and ready to help. we especially liked the kitchen and the upstairs loft area although we didn't have a chance to use them much - kitchen had tons of useful stuff, is well organized and the loft looks really comfy. will be coming again :)

Great cosy hostel for great value. Stayed there for 3 nights. Was in the perfect location to explore Budapest for the first time. We were able to walk to most places and metro is very accessible. Kitchen and overall hostel was clean. Staff were really nice. Highly recommend!

Super cozy hostel, nice atmosphere. It's clean and the staff is very friendly. They have a well equipped kitchen and a cute loft, super nice to hang out, play guitar or watch a movie. The whole hostel is nicely furnished, many plants and paintings. There is always free tea and coffee available. The rooms have everything you need, big enough lockers and comfy beds. Das Nest felt like home to us, we would come again anytime.

The best place to spend a quality time in budapest. Great sitting lounge, attic for a fun time, clean rooms. A very cozy place with a unique and melo vibe. Would definitely recommend.

I didn't plan on staying for longer than a day, but the people I've met here made me stay for over two weeks. I sure will come back soon to this place. Booking a bed here was undoubtedly the best decision of my trip, city was cool, people cooler and the hostel great.
