Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church

Tourist attraction Orthodox church

👍 A wonderful piece of Serbian Orthodoxy in the very Centre of Pest. The cathedral and its garden are really fascinating, but they are often closed, due the unpredictable times. People often mention church,

A beautiful liturgy and a kind welcome for an Orthodox couple from abroad. Thank you! Y'all really gotta get rid of those baroque depictions of God the Father in the iconography, though. Theologically indefensible.

This almost 200-year-old church in Szerb utca is a real gem, unfortunately it is rarely visited. There is a ceremony on Saturday from 4 and Sunday from 10, then you can go into the garden and if you wait patiently for the end of the ceremony, you can also enter the church for a short time. It is worth waiting, because the iconostasis and the entire apse are beautiful and richly decorated.

Worst church ever, they ring the church bell sporadically and for really long period of time for like 30 minutes. One time they even rang the bell at 12 am for more than 20 minutes. As a new resident around the neighbourhood, this is the worst noise pollution I have ever had. I respect the religion aspect but you guys dont respect people's peace and quiet. From 9:30 AM, they rang about 20 minutes, now it's 10:20, they rang another 5 minutes.

A beautiful church. I recommend Serbs to visit, but also, if they are able, to attend the liturgy.
