Absolutely wonderful! Mysterious ruins pub offering multiple bars inside. It’s huge..you could dance drink or chill. The place offers different atmosphere in various rooms. There are some funny decorative details as well. Quite popular amongst tourist especially Friday and Saturday nights.

What can I say about this place. This place is amazing. By far the best experience I had for visiting a club. The place was packed and there were many areas ranging from food to sheehsa to beer and alcohol. We spent 2-3 hours there and still didn't wanted to leave. Loved this place

Szimpla Kert has been my favourite Bar in Budapest since 2014, so 7 years now. Its story is unique, so as the concept. This was the very first ruin pub in the city followed by many others but Szimpla remains “THE ruin bar”. I love that it is always changing and the international atmosphere, too. It is a two-storey building with many different bars and sections inside. There is a regular bar, a cocktail bar, a wine bar, the garden area and some other rooms/sections, too. My favourite place is the wine bar because I could always find special organic Hungarian wines to discover. Must-see place!

Great pub in ruins. It is a HUGE place! Unfortunately, I went solo and had no company to chill there and party, so it was a bit dull for me. A magic place in Budapest! The king of the so called "ruin bars" and the perfect place to admire a different kind of art, to meet new people or to drink something. It is full of unusual things, fluo lights, colorful stickers, vintage videos...the music is mostly electronic type. I recommend to go there very early in the weekend, otherwise you will have a long queue.

Great spot to visit. I was most surprised by a live band in a back corner of the bar, with excellent music and no cover charge. The drinks are reasonable for such a busy place with lots of entertainment- live DJ, live band, worth the cost. Nice atmosphere and vibe , you can chill if you go during the day as we did in June. On Friday evening there was a huge line outside of at least 100 people waiting to enter. Some of the bars were not open on Saturday noon so didn’t have a great experience to have a good drink there - just grab a lemonade. The wine bar had an impressive selection of wines, and you could order anything from cocktails to soft drinks, just like any other bar. The location is fantastic, offering plenty of opportunities for great photos, especially upstairs, with lots of greenery and a spacious feel. Smoking is allowed almost everywhere outside, and there's even a chance to enjoy a nice hookah. Now, the downside was the not-so-welcoming and dirty toilets, but oddly enough, it somehow fits the vibe of this alternative party spot. During the daytime, finding a spot is easy, but after 20:00, it can get a bit crowded. All in all, I'd give Szimpla Kert a solid 5-star rating. It's undoubtedly the best place in Budapest, and its location in the Jewish quarter surrounded by other bars, cafes, and food spots makes it a must-visit destination.

It’s a couple of pubs in this old building and the atmosphere is amazing. I’ve never seen a place like it and you can have so much fun drinking in different rooms. Wish we came to check this place out during the night! This is an incredible place for all tourists. It's like some outdoor area with stairs between buildings that they built this into. It was easy to get lost inside. I didn't try the drinks even, but the bars looked to be nicely mad even if the rest of the place felt like a hip homeless shelter that just had a rave.

Very cool place, if you're looking for a unique atmosphere and experience. Lots of little rooms with grafitti covered walls. We visited when it was not crowded (late afternoon - early evening on a Monday in November) and explored all the different rooms upstairs and down. I suspect it's much noisier and harder to move around on a busy night. We only had beers and wine - good and inexpensive. People looked like they were enjoying the food.

Definitely a must if you would like to experience the night life in Budapest. Great place with a couple of good bars for drinks and a shisha lounge in bath tubs. Also a nice place to spend the night! See it as a mixture between a lounge/bar and a nightclub but than in an old ruin with an alternative style.

A place you should visit every time in Budapest. A place that is art itself and lives its own life. TIP: Let the beer pour into a glass, they do not return deposits for backed up cups, instead of them tokens that are useless.

Definitely a must go in Budapest! Really nice place, with different ambiences and very interactive ones. The beers are very good price and it is possible to pay with credit card, that I used to pay in euros.

Wishing to feel the real vibe of this district, we were eager to discover a different world after passing through a bohemian, excentric, colorful entrance. The multitude of objects in various colours, textures that wouldn't normally fit in the same story are randomly spread out through this ruin backyard, filled with good people and good vibe. You couldn't get enough of wondering and discovering the unsual, so we ordered something to drink at the bar and listened to the live music performed outside. An unique and delightful experience, yet maybe not for everyone.

BEST BAR IN BUDAPEST!! It’s so lovely here, such a great, busy and fun atmosphere. Cocktails are strong, but tasty. Staff are all really friendly, and good music

Amazing experience. Lots of people so not for someone who doesn't like crowds, but the place has amazing vibe. It is definitely a tourist trap, but one you really want to fall into. Go there early, ideally around 8pm in order to avoid a huge line outside. Good drinks for reasonable prices, nice chill background music. And of course the ruined junk state of everything around you is just mesmerising.

A very unique place combining a variety of styles. A very underground and industrial atmosphere. We went for a visit in the morning and it was almost empty. We visited the same day at night and there was a huuuge line waiting to get inside. In a case like this I would suggest for you to go opposite this place at Szimpla Mini for a drink.

Really fun ruin bar but if you want a quiet place to chill this is probably not for you. When we were there in the afternoon, there were a load of people singing badly super loudly so it was quite annoying. The bar vibe is cool though so if you happen to go in non busy times maybe it would be a better experience. Drinks are in the more expensive side for local bars but not unaffordable

Very cool spot with several bars, including a wine bar! It also has nice music with live DJ when I went - not sure how many times a week though. Highly recommend to stop by to explore this historical Budapest’s spot!

This place is amazing! Such a cool environment. Lots of different nooks to explore. Awesome mix of decorations. I went on two nights. The first had a band jamming in the bigger room, second night had DJs there. There's another DJ spinning hip-hop/funk in the entry hall, but it's much quieter (due to residential location maybe?) and there another area upstairs that can have a DJ, where people are chilling out on the floor and films play on the wall. Most staff seem friendly, but had a few that were just rude and grumpy. Didn't ruin the experience though. Huge (huge!) range of drinks. Definitely something for everyone 😊

I recently visited Ruin Bar in Hungary and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The atmosphere is electric, with an incredible mix of vintage decor and modern art creating a unique and exciting vibe. The drinks were also top-notch, with a wide selection of cocktails and beers to choose from. But what really made my visit special was the friendly and welcoming staff who went out of their way to ensure that everyone was having a great time. I would highly recommend Ruin Bar to anyone looking for a memorable night out in Hungary.

What a crazy place. I had no idea from outside what was inside. Rooms amongst rooms of bars inside a derelict looking building. All rooms have theme. One I visited had a dentist theme. Had a beer in one of the rooms upstairs. There is a market in the main thorough fair area on the Saturday we visited. Outside seating area. We visited during the day as too busy at night.

Interesting bar with different music in different halls, so that you can easily choose where to stay and dance. And change it without leaving the bar. Situated in an old building that had been once smashed, but they kept the walls and the authenticity to it. We went on a Saturday night and the queue was quite long, but it moves fast and there is enough space inside.

If you are in town you must visit this place! We absolutely loved the vibes. The drinks are okay, you can get beers, wine and some mixers. The music is really cool and you can enjoy exploring the place. The queue for drinks and toilets wasn’t too bad.

The service is quite quick, the prices vary but there are cheap options like beer/juices and options for kids or people who don't drink. The ambiance is usually good but it can be pretty crowded. The staff normally is good but some waiters are rude. The smothie comes in a 750ml bottle, beware hahaha.

This place is really unique, I've never seen anything like this before😻😻 In the evening you can go partying very well here and meet a lot of young people and students. The prices for drinks are also okay. If you don’t like to partying, you can visit this place in the afternoon to have some drinks or just to have a look.

One of the older Ruin Bars in Budapest, and definitely a destination to see. It’s a visual experience and people were lining up outside to get in on a Thursday night. Although it is mainly a younger crowd, there were plenty of “older” folks taking it in. There are different rooms each uniquely decorated that make it fun to walk around and explore. The drinks were moderately priced, and the atmosphere is eccentric to eclectic, but stimulating. When we have more time on our next visit we would like to see more of the Ruin Bars.

No food served at all. But it didn’t disappoint at all. My dear ones were just as impressed as I was the first time I visited 7 years ago. This place is a MUST for anyone visiting Budapest. We went on a Monday night. No cover charge, no lines. Not for kids.

This place is insane! There's weird and random stuff absolutely everywhere and it's HUGE. More bars and quirky little rooms than you can count. We had a few cheeky ones and took ages just wandering around and looking at all the strange bits and bobs. There's lots of ruin bars in Budapest, this is the best one.

It’s the only ruin bar that I’ve visited and I’m totally satisfied with my experience. The atmosphere of the place is eclectic and so unique, you will never find a similar interior elsewhere. Suitable for both a casual drink and having a party.

good atmosphere, there was everything to drink and do, if you like to dance there are two different styles of music and if not there are also good rest areas. it is really an incredible place and very big. The only thing is that you have to queue to get in, but it's free and worth the wait.

I ordered the Berry Fresh the night we visited around 9.20pm. I suggest going earlier to avoid the huge crowd and line that starts around 20 minutes later. Even when we went, it was quite crowded. Dimly lit atmosphere, pretty good for drinks and casual dancing in the open area. Pricing was definitely on the high end but service was great. Might come back again to explore a bit more.

It has really nice vibe, colorful atmosphere and many different places to sit down and have a drink, some of them more public and others more private. At the time od our visit there was also a live acoustic concert. I would definitely highly recommend to visit it.

Extremely busy place, quite hard to get a seat but there are lots of different bars to choose from to get a drink so the service wasn't too slow actually. The drinks are a bit expensive for what you get. Very cool decor and live music. Definitely a must visit if it is your first time in Budapest.

Not my type of party places. But the atmosphere is interesting. They have many different spots, so you can find what do you like. Lot of ppl most of the time. Cheap alcohol(and also not good) but this is a touristic place I guess, so as everywhere in the touristic places - alcohol is bad. Didn’t see food over there.

We came here to see the famous and the oldest Ruins Bar. I like the concept. I think it's brilliant and interesting. And it seems like a kid-friendly place, as I have seen a couple of toddlers/babies around.

Well, this is a very unique place to visit. A lot of interesting people on one place, and if you are lucky enough you will find a company to go further to even more interesting places. 😎 I have not tried any food but there are vast variety of beer choices. All in all - a must !

A must for anyone visiting Budapest. We had seen this on YouTube when we're looking for ideas for things to do on our visit. We all thoroughly enjoyed it , probably more than we had expected. We visited about 16.00 and it was not busy so we enjoyed a slow walk around taking in the whole experience. From the graffiti to all the miss matched furniture and partially knocked down wall.

The most famous ruin bar in Budapest. We visited on a Sunday evening for a beer. The place is self service, a little bit cold and not so clean (as many tourist-famous places in Budapest). There are a lot of people who visit Szimpla but we found an available table easily. As for the feeling I guess it's good to visit once 🙂

A must visit if you're visiting Budapest - the unique decor and vibe really made this a great stop. Lots of bars scattered around with different things to see and experience throughout. I went in the evening, but I imagine a day trip would feel completely different.

Lively place in town. You need to bring your ID to get in. The place has lots of decorated old rooms where you can sit and enjoy your drink. Unique, artistic and hippy decorations can be found in the building. Colourful lights as well. They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. What amazes me is how they utilised the building and made it into how it is now. You can stay on the lower ground or their first floor.

Love this place! Came here 10 years ago and became one of my favourite bars in the world. It was great to be back and it hasn’t changed!!! It gets busy so get there a little earlier to secure a seat/bar stool or sit in the bath tub!

An emblematic place in Budapest. Food, drinks, shops, music and very good beers. It is a ruin bar with an amazing decoration. It is quite wide and has a couple of heights. A must-see place any night. Open until 4in the morning.

An extremely interesting place, well worth a visit. In the ruins of abandoned buildings, various bars and nightclubs have been created with strange decorations, graffiti and good music. I couldn't stay and just passed by to see the place but I hope the next time I come to Budapest I will visit this place for longer.
