Awesome place to grab a cup of beer or wine and meet new people in Georgia. But please add some mark that there’s no way to get to bar from north side from riverside road because of high cliff 😊

Wow. Great experience. Very kind stuff. Food DELICIOUS, huge portions. Try goulash for sure and spaghetti with 4 cheeses. A bit expensive for Hungary, but value for money. The whole atmosphere great, as well as music. Highly recommended

Chill place, good prices for beer, but they have a really stupid policy of closing at 2 am as if this was America. I think the Americans who opened this place forgot what country they are in, or just wanted to import America's stupid policy of closing bars at 2 am. I'm glad almost nobody else here is so stupid.

For Sale Pub has great drinks, music, food, and friends. This place is definitely funky and quirky. Unique, colorful, and with visitor messages from around the world pinned all over the pub. Amazing menu with goulash and other traditional dishes + bar food; great selection of beers and drinks; live music some nights. For Sale Pub is the place to go when you're in Budapest - so you can tell everyone else you have been there. My wife and I were especially lucky to have Levi as our waiter. What a great guy, and he helped make our visit fun and extra special. He works very hard, but also enjoys the customers very much. Thanks, Levi, for helping to make this a great and enjoyable evening.

Amazing place, amazing experience. One of our favorites. This place is unique. Just to drink a beer or have dinner but it worth a visit. We had the goulash and was delicious. We also tried the ribs and those were amazing. The breaded vegetables were okay but nothing special. It is super recommended to book the previous day because they are often full. Good service and the live music is a must.

Cheap drinks, decor/setup is definitely one of a 'dive bar', but staff were rude at best and it was incredibly smoky, from both cigarettes and a wood stove. I'm sure the outdoor terrace is lovely in summer, though! Update 5/19 - for one, Georgia banned indoor smoking, so that's at least out. And the outdoor terrace is indeed lovely when it's warm out! But the heat inside is still via wood stove, so it'll probably be a good bit wood smokey in winter. But at least during the day the staff was quite friendly and you can't beat the price of the drinks!

Amazing food, and atmosphere. This is first time when saw, all you can eat peanut baskets, on each table, free of charge ;) For my main dish I went with Beef Stew with noodles. Portion size was mind blowing, after which most will have food coma. Quality of meat was amazing, and fresh. After my meal, I did order a cup of tea to ease fat from beef haven. Overall it was vary satisfying meal. Try it for yourself. On the menu everyone with dietary restriction can find something for themselves. Vegan, and vegetarian. Unfortunately people with disabilities on wheelchairs can't enter, unless with assistance of others. Location is very good as well, because it's situated next to the famous Market Hall.

One of my favourite bar's in the city, hovewer i would not recommend going there in the pandemic period because there rules are way too strict. I am not giving giving it less stars because before pandemic it has always been the best place both for locals and expats

I was so confused with the concept. It was amazing. The paper that protects the table is for you to write and pin on the ceiling, on the walls, on the wood. Amazing. There's peanuts all over the restaurant for you to eat while you wait. You open it and throw the peanut cracker into the floor, which is already full with straw. We order goulash soup and fried mushrooms with goat cheese! And beer.

One young small and short waitress was so annoying and have a real bad attitude. For me, it's a unique place and design inside but too dirty for being a PUB where you can EAT not only drink. People who eat peanuts throw the peel on the floor and they add it on their design (disgusting) . A bit high price as well. Check your bills before paying. Had a bad day coming in this pub. Will not come back for sure and not recommended.

This is my second time at this restaurant, great atmosphere, very large and satisfying dishes - I found that most of them can even be shared. The surf soup is excellent and the schnitzel is also excellent. We will definitely be back again! I rated 4 stars because the service was slow. Other than that everything was just fine.

Tasty food, satisfying portion, kind and fast waiters/waitresses. We had the traditional Gulyás (Goulash) which was super yummy - as you can see from the photos one Gulyás is enough for two people. I had the cherry draft beer - super nice! Affordable prices. Recommended it.

One of the best goulash in the city! The theme of the place is to leave the note and pin it to the walls and ceiling. The peanuts peels are thrown right on the floor, each table has basket of peanuts. The portions are giant. Share at least for 2 people. Service improved a lot for the past few years. Big line to sit. Recommend coming right at 12:00 when it opens.

Interior and atmosphere is cozy, the whole process of crunching peanuts and throwing shells on the ground is unique. Large food portions, quick responding staff, but the prices are enormous, almost double comparing to other pubs. ~50 euros (mandatory 12% service charge included) for a 2 portions of goulash soup and one portion of chicken paprikash felt like a ripoff scheme made for tourists. Also long queue outside only to enter the pub.

In my opinion For Sale is a place you must visit for it's special decoration. Please note that we waited for a table approximately 30 minutes as there was a priority list. There are a lot of choices on the menu. We ordered local beer, goulash soup, mixed veggies fried in breadcrumbs and chicken breast fried in breadcrumbs (schnitzel) for 3 people (please specify when you order, we wanted 3 dishes not for 3 people). Prices are normal (20+€ per person). Portions are big,you can also take them with you, and tasty (goulash!). The place is not so clean but you have to pay for the service (and cleaning) and there is no wifi. 🙂 People are polite, and there was also live music the day we visited.

This place is so unique !! Delightfully fun with customers writing notes and pinning them to the walls !!! Quite small so booking may be required at busy times but we got there before the lunchtime rush ! The goulash soup for 2 is amazing!! Would definitely recommend

This place is unusual that radiates with special energy. Atmosphere is pleasant and somewhat impressive. Previously, guests on the ceiling put paper money and visit cards, now they put written messages. Great atmosphere and live music. One of the best places in the city. Really unusual and crazy bar / restaurant. The food is exceptionally delicious ( goulash soup), the portions are abundant. It is known that the Hungarian cuisine is extremely tasty and varied, here it is especially pronounced. Service is very good and professional, prices are resonable.

Stunning interior and unlimited peanuts! They don't have a huge variety of beers tho - Soproni, Heineken, Guinness and something from Prague. Only cash. Still loved it.

The two waitresses working upstairs were so rude and had no manners. One was on their phone all the time. We sat on the lone table on the middle floor and our waiter who served us was great (wasn't even his section) as was the senior waitress/manager. Some of the best food I have ever tasted and the dark beer was very tasty too.

  • 5/5 Chris P. 3 years ago on Google
Amazing atmosphere, amiable staff and gigantic portions of food for a fairly cheap price! The food tasted great and I loved seeing the walls decorated with drawings and messages tourists wrote before they left. I left one myself and I'd visit Budapest again just to eat there one more time! The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the huge amount of people sitting in line since the first minute of the pub opening, but that's just to show the place is THAT good and worthy of attention. I definitely recommend checking out "For Sale Pub" if you're in Budapest; trust me, it'll be time and money well spent!

Best Goulash in Budapest, service was great with Malinda she was so kind and with a smile since the beginning. Portion are huge so careful when you order. The soup is for 2 or 3 people. One plate it’s enough for two. They have music live. Usually you need to wait for a table but definitely worth it. Only thing to improve you need to pay with cash

(Translated by Google) For Sale Pub was on the list of must-see places. We went to Grand Bazaar, Market Hall and stopped by the FSP right across it. When we opened the door, we stepped into a crowded place with lots of note papers hanging from all sides, mostly young people. We had read that the traditional Hungarian cuisine, Goulash, is very good here, but we were full. It was very crowded and loud with a drink. We went upstairs with the creak of hay we passed over. We left by examining the place, which has a decorative detail in every corner, and taking photos. Those who love such places should go, see, eat, drink🥣🍻🥔 (Original) Uğranılması gereken mekanlar listesindeydi For Sale Pub. Grand Bazaar, Market Hall'a gittik ve hemen karşısındaki FSP'ye geçerken uğradık.

When you see all the fun paper souvenir mentions stuck all over and even on the ceiling, the peanut shell detritus and hay over the irregular floor it suggests that you've entered into a funky, laid-back location... Well they are about payment, which is exclusively in cash (when I was there) unfortunately, not all that is crazy & messy means lack of popularity- surprisingly reservations are necessary!!!

(Translated by Google) The ambience is really nicely implemented and actually looks really good. Unfortunately the whole experience was severely affected by the service and the tightness of the room. In some places the chairs touch, but the waiters squeeze through between them. In addition, a telephone of the restaurant, which is between the tables, rang all the time. The staff weren't very friendly either and it took forever to get our drinks and food. Instead of bothering about us when we asked for a spoon that we didn't get, they preferred to talk to each other and when someone else asked for cutlery, they just walked over our food to remove unused cutlery from our table to take. But we were still ignored. In addition, the food didn't taste particularly good and it wasn't really clear either.

Their telephone number doesn’t work so it is better to go a little earlier in order to find table. Fun fact: Bartender Marschi in the bar is the best and ready to give you all the details regarding the traditional food and drinks!

The place is amazing ! First of all, they bring huge basket of peanuts to eat. You eat the peanut and throw remainings on the ground, such a weird, but fun concept. Second, food choice is great, but it was harder as a vegetarian. We took rice (one w/ green peas other, one w/ cheese) and one plate of grilled vegetables from side dishes menu, but the portions are so big, it was moooore than enough for 2. Coffee was not good tbh, like water.. so the only minus. 2 portions of rice, 1 plate of vegetables, coffee and water = 22,40€ They also add “service” to the bill (744ft)

We came back to “For sale” after a few years from our last visit there. This time we were ready and we ordered 4 different dishes for 4 persons. The atmosphere was very cozy and warm. The goulash was very good but a bit cold… the ribs were great, the red wine was super and the Guinness was amazing. Service was very nice.

This place is very well-known and loved and it's very well deserved. I will not talk about very special interior, but simply the place is awesome. Goulash was really great and the staff was amazing. I was there with group of 13 people and all loved the place. You might need to wait in a small queue but it's worth of it. Goulash portion is enough for 2 or 3 person's, depends how hungry you are. I was afraid its popularity was overrated, but I was mistaken. Enjoy your visit 🤩♥️

The portions are very large (we divided the goulash (1 liter) in 2 people) !!! the waiter Attila was really kind and helpful, he was also very good at suggesting us the best local dishes. we also tried typical hungarian drinks thanks to waiters!! Really fair prices for the lovely place in which we ate. I will recommend it to friends who want to go to Budapest!

Really nice food and drinks. Very unusual design and nice ambiance. All my friends liked this place and we were enjoying the evening!

The dishes were extremely tasty and huge! We ordered a goulash for THREE PEOPLE and it was enough. Moreover, Attila, a waiter, is incredible and funny! I highly recommend you visiting this fabulous place.

This place is beyond EPIC. From the minute you walk into this pub, the music, the staff etc. now let’s talk about the real stuff ..... please don’t eat before you come here - they serve some pretty big portion meals but of great quality. We had the Hungarian Goulash Soup and the Chicken Oregano & Salad (#32) The food in this place is full of flavour very tasty. A great spot for the insta photos and a terrific way to start your Budapest experience. Not to mention do yourself a favour and get a pint of Soproni to quench the thirst. It won’t disappoint. The staff are really friendly and approachable ..... all of them and they speak fantastic English.

Such a happy place! It was suggestive, with live music and notes like everywhere! People working there were very kind, especially Levi who has been very nice with us :) Good goulash soup and beers. We really enjoy our last night in Budapest at For Sale Pub!

Finally got a seat and I was so happy! It was always full before Covid, when all the travelers haven’t come back to Budapest, I got the chance to visit For sale pub which I always want to go. The stylish place with a lot of messages left my other customers makes it feel lively! My experience was very nice, staff were friendly and warm, craft beer made me feel relaxing! The creamy mushroom chicken with potato Croquette was super tasty and you will definitely be full! All you can eat peanuts was an interesting selling point. Must to come if you’re in Budapest!

Amazing place, with a unique concept where all guests are served complementary peanuts and are allowed to nail a note to the wall when leaving! Staff was really friendly, the place was very picturesque and is a must visit. I would however not recommend eating here. Just grab something to drink, a snack and a few pictures! Unfortunately, the food wasn't great though. I had "fried vegetables" which was a huge portion of what I can only describe as the driest meal I've had. I also didn't feel great afterwards. The prices are way, way above the food level. They also advertise having craft beer, while only serving a handful of cheap major brand beers.

What a fantastic recommendation and find this was. Lovely ambience , cosy , quirky with all the hand written notes pinned to the beams and walls. I recommend the gypsy roast pork and the pork medallions with creamy mushroom sauce. I had the pub sale pale ale very niiiice. Monkey nuts on the table and the shells broken and left on the floor. Very rustic decor with a Hungarian twist on pub life. Fantastic.

Amazing experience, great suggestions and big food portions. The team is very kind and helpful as well. You can ask for paper and pen to add your message to the walls. Definitely a must go place!

You can't miss this place if you want to try a very tasty Hungarian goulash. The décor and the atmosphere add to the experience. There's live music and you are able to pay with card. I have been here a few times and the service has improved a great deal. Be aware that you must make a reservation in advance or be prepared to stand in a queue for a while, specially during dinner. They take cash and card payment.

Amazing pub, amazing experience. Monkey nuts on the tables, straw underneath, notes pinned to the ceilings. The food is amazing, the plates are massive. 1 plate of food is enough for 2 people. Or 1 adult & 2 kids. It’s on 2 floors, toilets available, kids friendly. We as family loved it & will definitely be back!!

Very nice pub/restaurant with good music and delicious food that comes in very big portions. The place has some cool feature, for example you can write a note and stick it on the ceiling (the whole place is covered in notes from people), also you have a basket of peanuts which you can crack, eat and throw the shell on the floor! The only downside is that the place is quite expensive, but again, very big portions. Pretty good bang for the buck.

Unique restaurant and serve Hungarian foods! The pork knuckle, pork ribs and beef wine stews are yummy! The foods range around 10,000 uf per person and nice to experience it. Too bad, the staff is rather inpatient and jump to conclusion while i want to complete my sentence.

Visited with high expectations after being recommended by a friend who lives in Budapest. Goulash soup was not listed on the main menu, but the price was higher than the main menu. I visited alone. Normally the soup, drinks, and water are enough for one person. Especially considering the price, it was not unfair order. But the waiter urged me to order the main menu, saying the soup was too small. I asked if there was a big soup, but he just kept repeating that the soup was small. I took his word for it and ordered an extra side dish. But I was devastated by the resulting dishes. Because the soup was too big. I couldn't even have the side dish. Generally, high-volume food isn't bad for customers, but I felt cheated, so I was very disappointed. I could not enjoy the soup. Side dishes were packed for take-away, but I had to give up other traditional Hungarian dishes for dinner. I talked about this to the waiter with smile, but he only said about take-away. Never said sorry or regret. While eating, I saw many customers waiting. A service that matches its popularity is an absolute must. I am very sorry that my experience at here has diminished my good impression of Hungary. The waitress’s smile was the only good thing. I visited many countries and cities, but this was most unpleasant experience.

The Best BAR for Lunch\ Dinner \ Snack. The concept of the Bar and the decorations makes the ambient even more special. The portions and the plate are big. There Beer is amazing with a flavour of orange. Can’t recommend this place enough 🤩 The only thing - Don’t order to drink Apple juice, it comes like a shot 😅

This restaurant / pub is just the greatest. It has a lot of dishes. Everybody will be able to find something to eat. Some of the dishes are very big. The Goulash soup is 1 litter! There are also wonderful deserts. The whole place is decorated with a million notes (for sale notes) and this is very special. When you get seated you are welcomed with a bowl of nuts that you need to peel and you can through on the floor

My husband found this place on Trip Advisor after seeing it had lots of great review. Bell was a terrific waitress. We were hungry and even after reading the reviews about huge portions we ordered too much food. The goulash for two would have been plenty, but then we each ordered an entree - beef stroganoff for my husband and stuffed cabbage for me. Needless to say we took leftovers with us. The goulash was amazing. Really complex and delicious flavor. We both thought of our mom's home cooking. The beef steak stroganoff was filled with mushrooms, pickles, tender strips of beef all in a rich cream sauce served with a pile of rice. The generous serving of two huge stuffed cabbage rolls had a delicious flavor. I wish I wasn't so full, but I couldn't even finish one. We were happy to share our leftovers with two new friends. If only we had room for dessert. Be sure to go there hungry and share a meal or one order of goulash.

We were a big group, so we waited a bit for a table, but everybody was super friendly, they let us wait inside because of the heat. Everything we ordered from the menu was super delicious and prepared fast. Portions are big, prices are good for what you get. The interior is very interesting and the atmosphere is very plesant. Our waitress Niki was perfect! Definitely worth it, will visit againg when in Budapest.

This is an iconic location and a must to go once you are in Budapest. The live music gives a great vibe to the restaurant, the service is fantastic with a friendly staff, and the food is very tasty. You have a large variety of Hungarian meal options here and the portions are very generous.

Amazing experience! I’m traveling solo and the waiters have treated me so well, they even gave me a pint of beer upon getting to my table! The atmosphere is comfy and rustic with a lot of personality. The waiters are a highlight and are very helpful with any questions and requests. The goulash is a must-try and the paprika chicken breast is delish!

Not a usual pub-restaurant with all the notes on the walls and the pile of peanuts you get and asked to throw the shells on the floor. The atmosphere is great. There are many many dishes here, more then the usual (over a hundred I believe). The goulash soup is huge and amazing! Really recommended! It can actually be enough for 2 adults. Depend on how hungry you are. Also good service.

The trip to Budapest will be incomplete if you don't visit this place. The best food and the best ambience anywhere in town. The place is located at the midst of the city and very close to the central station and the bridge. It's an experience that can't be missed. The place gets busy dring lunch and the evening so plan ahead as waiting in the queue is very normal. Exceptional staff and feels like a melting pot of diverse cultures. Most recommended for people who like good food, great drinks, live music, and most amiable milieu. Will definitely visit again.

Unique pub! Drinks came fast and tasted great, the staff was cheerful and friendly and the atmosphere was very nice. We got a gigantic bowl of peanuts which made for a great snack for beer. There are paper notes everywhere you look! Maybe not a good idea for those with hay allergy since there is hay on the floors. You must stop here when in Budapest!

I had an amazing experience at Forsale Pub in Budapest! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, and our waitress, Linda, was an absolute delight throughout the meal. The highlight of the evening was definitely the Goulash - it was simply mouthwatering! The rich flavors and tender meat made it the perfect choice for me, and now it's easily my favorite dish at the restaurant. Not only was the food exceptional, but the ambiance of the place was also very inviting. The cozy and rustic atmosphere added to the overall dining experience. I must say, Forsale Pub really impressed me with both their service and their delicious cuisine. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience in Budapest!

Thoroughly enjoyed the Hungarian Goulash at the For Sale Pub. Laid back vibe with friendly staff and a cool atmosphere. It was also nice that there was free peanuts to eat while you wisted for the meal. I'd also recommend the 'For Sale Pale Ale' if you are a keen beer drinker.

The nice pub with live music and great atmosphere. Their traditional Hungarian goulash is served in a really big portion, even though I ordered the small one which is 75% of a small portion it was too much for me. It was the first time I tried goulash so I can’t compare but it was rich, with a lot of meat and delicious. The only one thing - a bit salty. It costed 6290Ft (about 16€) which is a bit overpriced for what you get (yes, the portion is huge but it was too much for me and I couldn’t finish eating). Another thing is atmosphere - the bar has minimum of decoration, but the papers with the notes and drawings from the previous visitors make a whole history. They also have live music each evening (from 8pm till midnight)

Quite expensive but the portions are incredibly large and tasty! The local beer is also good! We only had two plates and we were full. Of course we also had the desert which was not very special; so you can skip that. The food, the atmosphere, the staff are worth visiting tho 👌🏼 4 stars cause it could be kinda cheaper

The food and the atmosphere was amazing. Each table has its own all you can eat peanut basket. Also every single wall and part of the ceiling is covered with notes from all over the world. The food was a bit overpriced but the portions were massive and the taste was amazing. They also had live music which I also enjoyed.

Went there at around 1pm and it was already quite full. Nevertheless, we found a table on the second floor and ordered a Goulash soup. Soup is made for 2 persons and costs around 19€ Bowl is huge and very tasty! Definitely worth it. 10% service is already added in the check. Thank you, Melinda, for a friendly service! Overall atmosphere 10/10 - felt like in a rockabilly western pub 😄

Walked in around 1pm ish after going to the great market hall across the road. It was busy so we had to wait around 10mins which was no issue. It wasn’t cramped and had a nice atmosphere with quiet music in the background. From the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left we had the same waitress, Linda. She was very professional, quick with orders and a lovely person. The food was amazing, we waited around 20mins- 30mins for it to arrive. It’s also just outside and metro and tram route so easy to get to. Overall our experience was really good and I highly recommend a visit if you’re ever in Budapest.

Really great good. We got the goulash for two and it was amazing. Initially we were skeptical about if it would be enough for the two of us but the portion size was generous which was a happy surprise. The atmosphere was great and we asked one of the waitresses to suggest a good Hungarian beer and we were not disappointed. Must try if you’re in Budapest!

Great pub for a unique experience! Do not let your hunger trick you into many dishes, these guys have huge portions. Goulash soup is one of the best. I would definitely recommend house pale ale.

One of the best places we have ever visited so far. Everything is perfect, including the atmosphere that is a 6 out of 5 without hesitation. The service is great. The music is great. We chose this pub because of Goulash and we ordered Goulash indeed, and that particular Goulash is now our Goulash of reference. N.B. There a free and huge bucket of raw peanuts on each table. And you can even throw the peels on the (straw-covered) floor. Seems to close to paradise, doesn't it?

This was the first place we visited as soon as we landed in Budapest and the whole experience was just so amazing. The interior was unique and cool, where you are able to write a note and pin it on the wall. Our waiter made our experience, he was bubbly, friendly and extremely helpful. We were recommended the traditional hungarian soup (Goulash) and the chicken schnitzel with fries, both dishes were extremely delicious. Overall the food was great quality, fresh and the portion sizes were large. Great value for money!

Came here on a Friday night and it was very busy, ordered a drink and had our name on a list for a table for food. To be honest I wasn't too sure about this place at first, not a lot of room and crammed but I am glad we stayed for food, the food was absolutely amazing and the portion sizes are huge! You can easily share 1 meal between 2. Staff were lovely and attentive and you can leave a note of your own on the walls, highly recommend

A very fun and different concept. The waiters are happy and friendly people, it is a place you have to visit if you go to Budapest, even if it is just for a drink. You have free peanuts on the tables to have with your drink/meal. If you want to get food definitely book a table! There was a queue even at 2pm on a weekday. And I can see why! It is such a good vibe and the food looked amazing. After a long wait we were able to go inside and sit on a table upstairs. Very friendly staff.

We waited for at least an hour in line to get in but we didn’t regret it. It captures the vibe of a Hungarian pub (with a fun twist), and the food is super delicious. Prices are a little high, but quantity and quality make it worth it. Plus they serve you unlimited peanuts along with your beer, and you are encouraged to throw your husks on the floor. How cool is that!

There are all delicious! We order 2 main dishes and Hungarian Goulash Soup and there are amazing! If we order 1 main dish and soup there are enough also because the food is a lot. Get here early. No joke, we got in three minutes after opening and there was a line of people out the door while we were eating. Great spot to go to when traveling here. Portions sizes are definitely worth the price. The prices weren’t too expensive either. Service was great with Balint. The atmosphere and music were top tier. Definitely one of the coolest places I’ve ever eaten at with all the notes. Don’t forget to leave a note before leaving.
