I was here few weeks ago and ordered only sweet potatoes fries with sauce and now when I went again, the waiter refused to give me only potatoes, saying that is not possible to order this without a burger. How is it possible if they are in the menu with a specific price? Also, I don t understand why it was possible few weeks ago and not only for me, also my friends ordered it without any other burger, but now is not..

Only visited for dinner, but the most enjoyable meal I had in Budapest. Great wine, Hungarian meat roll was fantastic. Staff were incredibly friendly

Nice and quick service. The food was delicious! The desserts were okay. Cozy place with a cool environment. They have some different decoration on the place! During the summer they have a really nice and colourful external area to have drinks.

This is a new favourite of mine! There is a really good atmosphere in a large airy dining room. Service from Ben was warm and friendly, with excellent English in case your Hungarian isn’t up to scratch! Food is delicious, portions generous and an excellent value daily menu. Make sure you turn up early, as it can get busy and sell out of some dishes. I can’t wait to try the garden on a summer evening.

Wow, we are really impressed. Service is impeccable, just great, super friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and taste amazing. The wine recommendation from our waiter was just perfect. We are super happy to have experienced it. Dessert and dessert wine to finish was just heaven. Thank you!

Not responding to calls for table reservation. No online solution, email boxes are full... When I personally went there it was written, closed for several days, probably due to violation of local rules, taxation or cleanliness. Response: You haven't communicated it on your website which is supposedly the main source of communication/contact. Hope you had a great time though.

We really enjoyed the whole experience in Kőleves. Everything, the food, the attendance of its staff and the place were perfect! We definitely will come back to this warm place. A special mention to Peter and his kindness. Next time we would like to enjoy will his mother's Goulash recipe.

I know that some colleagues like this place and decided to try it out. It was the worst experience for me. We came at 19:25, at 20:00 for the first time we were asked if we would like something to drink. At 20:20, I started to feel frustrated and asked the waiter if anyone ever planned to ask our food orders. So, 1 hour not to bring food out but just to ask about it. The food came in at 21:05. Then we had a whole round of desserts, which went faster than the rest, but nowhere close to the time that something cooked in advance should be served. We asked to pay at 22:00. No kidding, it took the waitress a half an hour to deal with it, but she still made mistakes and ended up with an extra bill of unpaid items that I had to cover in the end (12 euro). All of that was a complete mess. And maybe it would be worth it if the food was mind-blowingly fantastic. It was not. It was solidly normal food, sorry to say but not worth of 3 hours spent there fighting for any service or attention.

Visited here for a mid afternoon snack and coffee. The menu is quite small, which I take as a good sign of quality. The dishes are mainly Hungarian and the Cream of Artichoke Soup and Meat Roll were delicious. Service was friendly and good. Decor has a few quirks like vintage radios and light fittings made of wine glasses.

May be the best lemonade I had in this city (not sweet, had a lot of natural berry flavors, tasted refreshing). Also, despite the closing kitchen the staff were so nice to make a portion of fries for us. Those were also one of the best sweet potato fries I had: crispy outside and soft, rich inside. And all this relaxed atmosphere makes the visit even better. Table shortage is constant, btw.

My wife and I came here last night for our first dinner while visiting Budapest. I had ordered the Hungarian stew, figuring that a warm, hearty meal would hit the spot after wandering around in the cold for a few hours. With the first bite of this meal, I nearly fell in love. That was until I had the butternut squash cake with poppy seeds and pumpkin seed oil, and I knew that I could never go home again. In addition, the music playing was great and the staff was incredibly helpful and very attentive. I only hope I have to time to go back and try more from the menu.

Nice restaurant with friendly staff and good service. I had the goose leg, which was really good. We were on a table round the corner from the main seating area though so felt a bit isolated, worth avoiding that bit for a better atmosphere.

Nice garden restaurant you can come to on bikes. Sophisticated menu with no fuss ambiance. Nice attitude from the staff. The pistachio tiramisu kinda average, but the duck 🦆 and goose were excellent 👌. Very happy we found it. The bar next to it seems also nice with many interesting people, and not too many obese Americans. Nice, čill, place...

Great chilled outdoor bar. Pretty cheap and the beer and wine are decent. They don't accept stag parties (a good thing for when you visit Budapest)

We had a couple of drinks in the garden, loved the place. Ot’s very popular so you might have to wait for a table for a bit but it’s worth the wait. You order and pay at the bar, they take cards. Surprisingly good bathrooms.

If you wanna eat where locals eat this is the place to be. The best options are available at a set price of 1900 for 2 course and 2500 for 3 course. Plenty of veg options to with drinks included. The food taste simple and at its best. Will sure visit again and again.

They have a decent amount of vegetarian food offered. I tried the butternut squash soup and their popular arancini balls with cashew cream and basil pesto, and that was very delicious. Very nice and warm ambience together with hippy friendly service. Price is reasonable for a decent meal.

The food is very delicious and good portions. Big variety of limonades, good beers. Nice outdoor garden. Good place to chill, enjoy food and have good conversations. Dogs are also welcome. All this with fair prices (medium range). Great place to be during summer.

Great place, nice colorful lights at night. You sit on wooden chairs, there are wooden tables and the ground is covered with pebbles. My friend spilled other friend's beer so he had to buy him new one. The music is nice, there are little chairs and tables. It really feels cozy, perfect for warm summer nights. Definitely a place to pay a short visit.

We had dinner there two times: excellent duck breast with celerie julienne, dates and walnut pesto; then duck leg with baked beans. Amazing composition and cooking! Vintage restaurant and a bar like garden..all very cozy. Simply go there, if you are in the jewish quarter.

What a super experience having dinner and the ruin bars district! A vibrant and great atmosphere but still very relaxed! The two men and the lady that served the tables were very polite and friendly and had the knowledge of the all plates and wines the restaurant was serving! The atmosphere and the vibe was nothing Hungarian like and it was towards Mediterranean! All the plates we order was very, very good and it was the first time we enjoyed the food and the whole experience! We took bean goulash soup, arancini, the avocado salad, and the roasted duck breast x 2 along with wine! For desert we took the pistachio tiramisu which was great and the chocolate cake. The day we visited the restaurant was closing at 2200 but although the kitchen staff was leaving the premises we were never rushed as we were still enjoying our wine! Our number one place to dine or just enjoy a bottle of wine in Budapest. If we come back in Budapest we will definitely get back here!

I like the place for some drinks and beers during the day. Nice choice of beers The food is also quite nice, yet I ordered cheeseburgers which were just a cheeseburger. Don't mix it with other cheeseburgers, as in this one the burger is only cheese. Can recommend the place. The place outside is just perfect for a good beer during the summer nights, that's where we were.

I like the place for some chilled drinks during the day. Nice choice of local beers. My personal favourite is the Budapest mule. Food is also quite nice. Can absolutely recommend the place. Also that stag party are not welcome, so that makes the place nicer as well 😬

Really cool place to be, it takes recycling to the next level. A place so pretty and full of character that its taken years to look so good. Its almost like a post apocalyptic retreat from a world of disaster. A rabbit Warren of rooms and multiple bars, so don't que at the first one!

It is a really nice place to hang out with friends and have a good time, the food is quite good as well. The only problem was that we were sitting on the table in the very back and some red kind of fruits kept falling down splashing juice on whatever they hit. This was especially bad if they hit clothes

Food: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars Coll factor: 5 stars Kitchen service: 1 star This could have been a wonderful experience in Budapest, but they took more than 1 hour to bring us food. Some tables that arrived after us were served before (and no, we didn’t ask anything difficult to prepare). Overall I give it 3 stars.

  • 3/5 Anton B. 3 years ago on Google
The place itself is nice, but unfortunately it changed a lot in the recent years, and not to the good side. The price increase was pretty big, like 30%, and in the website the prices and the menu are still the old ones... At least you can compare... Previously or had a feeling of a street food, if you wanted to eat something at the Kőleves Garden. Not anymore... The food is quite expensive now (at least not in the price range of such place) and you will get your food from the Kőleves restaurant.

Fantastic restaurant with a really good atmosphere. Staff were all really helpful with recommendations especially as some unusual dishes on the menu. Everything ordered by the table was fresh and tasted amazing. If your looking to try some traditional Hungarian food would highly recommend here.

Really disappointed with the food. The duck was very dry and tasteless, clearly mass produced. The stew was heavy and very plain. The prices are also quite high, it is clearly a place for tourists. Note there is an outdoor bar linked to the restaurant which is a very different vibe to the inside of restaurant.

We had the best night we’d had in all of a Budapest. The Burger is incredible, the drinks were amazing and the service was top notch. Eszter was our Bartender and she was 10/10.. she couldn’t do enough for us! And we got everything we needed without even having to ask her. Amazing service, 5 stars, I will definitely be recommending.

Not a hotel but a restaurant(I think). Had the goose leg confit, crunchy and delicious with red cabbage and potatoe. The tiramisu with pistachio was delightful. Would recommend this place to my friends due to the atmosphere, food and service. They have a 10% service fee. We went there on a Saturday and we had a reservation, I would recommend making a reservation because it was packed with people.

The best meal I had in Budapest and the best duck and fallafle I've had in my life. 100% recommend because it is not very expensive (15€) and the quality of the food surpassed every single expectation we had. Location wise, it is perfectly placed in the Jewish quarter, so the way there is a tourist activity in itself which becomes very convenient. Inside, the restaurant feels local and homey, and the service is very good. The menu is also in English, and beside each dish there is a list of allergens each one contains. They offer vegan/vegetarian friendly starters, main dishes and desserts as well.

The staff is nice, the atmosphere is simple yet it gives off an upscale vibe. However, it is still a casual place, no need to worry about it being too fancy. You can order in different languages, and most of the beverages taste really good. Not the cheapest place, but definitely worth a try.

The restaurant is great for enjoying a meal in a nice setting. Affordable prices for the location. The staff is very courteous and they took are comments about the food with an open mind. As a vegetarian there are certainly places that would serve one’s preferences better. However, it is still to be appreciated that there are more options for people not eating meat. The goat cheese salad and the zucchini fritters were both a little bit lacklustre. The experience altogether made our visit worthy.

This is such a hidden gem of Budapest City. I cant describe how delicious the food was, it was just great, the best food I have eaten in a restaurant for a long time. Not even the fancy 5 star restaurants that I have been to can compare. The ambiance was extraordinary, the wine-glasses - chandelier is a good idea. I would definitely go back the next time i visit Budapest.

Despite repeated request to our server to bring out all the food at once, meal was awkwardly staggered so I ate my soup/salad while my companions had no food. Then the cheese we ordered to share came after and it was ... Just not well orchestrated. Food was good, nothing so special that I'm dying to return. Nice deco. Large patio.

I have been coming to Kőleves for many years, since it had been in a different location a few doors down the street. It is a very rare Budapest restaurant that managed not only to maintain its quality year on year, but even got better over time. The food is great quality and affordable, and the restaurant is a true rarity in offering healthy, yet delicious options full of vegetables. The lunch menu on weekdays is unassailable on value for money. In summer, the garden space is perfect for a lemonade or wine spritzer and a burger. My only complaint is that the service is slightly slow and distracted, but that is a very minor issue for such a dependable establishment.

Super restaurant in the main building. Has a great atmosphere but still very relaxed and nice to see a mix of local people and tourists. Menu has great Hungarian dishes and some interesting options - pistachio tiramisu was a treat! The road duck was so delicious I had it twice. Wines we’re also excellent and I was never rushed and was able to stay on to read my book. Staff are very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Can’t wait to get back here!
