The waiters are not nice at all and the guy at the entrance is super arrogant. The queue was super long and there were several open tables around us. People complained about it. We were lucky to get food served pretty quick. The 2 stars are deserved for the great food for reasonable pricing! The cleaning could be made better.

The place was very nice, food was good, but the waiter was extremely rude. They should really work on that, because not everyone speaks Hungarian and when you don't they shouldn't treat you like you're less worthy of their time. We came there to spend our money and by behaving like that they sent us a message that they don't care about their customers. Like I already wrote, the food was good, however the dessert was not good. The chocolate inside the pancakes did not taste well.

Me and my partner ordered 2 set of meals which came with soup, main dish, and a dessert. Each set is 4990 ft. I had beef goulash soup, beef with rice, and vanilla ice cream. - Beef goulash soup The soup came with small version of the tradition pot which was very cute, it taste a bit salty after a while, so we ordered some bread to finish the soup. I tried my partner's goulash soup with bean, I prefer the one with bean as it had strong smoky flavor. - Beef with rice The portion was a bit small than what we expected. Meat was a bit dry, rice was perfectly cooked to me, but that's all, it's a pretty simple taste rice dish.. The only dish I enjoyed was the bean goulash soup from my partner. Overall the foods on the menu seemed pretty traditional and authentic, but I wouldn't recommend to visit this place when on popular days or hours. We were arranged to sit at a corner next to the window which was very narrow, and the whole restaurant was very very crowded, we couldn't really enjoy our foods. Paying bill was confusing. We saw all the tables were able to pay at the table, but we were told by the staff that we need to pay at the till. We asked 2 staff in a row, but they said something in Hungarian then walked away, until we asked the 3rd staff, we finally got to pay and leave. I understand when the restaurant get busy, many things happen at same time can be chaos, but I think the owner need to pay more attention to the service, and the space arrangement for the tables.

My waiter seemed to be the only one there, that unfortunately in a bad mood. Everyone else was super nice. I payed very little and got a little 3-course vegetarian meal that I still miss now. I'll definitely go back here when I'm in Budapest again. Honestly, the price was almost the best, as I didn't expect something so cheap to be this good.

Ok yes great value set meal, the food was delicious and came in abundance! The menu is extensive and vegetarian-friendly. Total violation of social distancing and privacy though. Tables are arranged so close together to fit in as many customers as possible.

The place was extremely crowded. We ordered a Hungarian beef Gulyás soup, which was served lukewarm, not hot at all. A Marhaporkolt (beef with rice) was passable, but the beef was lacking any tender texture. The menu clearly stated that a 10% service charge would be added, yet at checkout, they asked for a tip on top of that. When I asked, wasn't the 10% service fee already included, the staff replied that the fee goes to the restaurant and tips are for them. Reluctantly, I ended up tipping an additional 5%, but I felt this practice was unacceptable and would not recommend visiting such establishments. If the service is good, giving a 15% or 20% tip is not a problem. However, this restaurant explicitly charges a 10% service fee upfront and then expects additional tips, which is clearly greedy. Therefore, I do not recommend this restaurant.

Nice restaurant with Traditional Hungarian food. It looked like the photos but found some parts of the main were just a little bit odd tasting. We had the Goulash Beef soup and Garlic cream bread soup with Paprika chicken and Tenderloin with rice . Would have preferred to have sat inside the restaurant as the heaters were very powerful in the outside area . Reasonably priced

I have searched on google map and decide to try this place because of good comments but it was a failure. We have tried classic langosh with sour cream and cheese, beef goulash, beef with rice. Soup was ok but we were not happy with the rest. The interior is inattentive, very basic decoration with wooden tables located very closed to each other. Service is not special, they even didn't clean the table. When we asked to clean the table, the waiter swept bread crumbs to the ground by hand. Bad food & Unfriendly waiters, definitely not recommended!

There was 3 of us. 2 ordered the beef set menu and one ordered the vegetarian set menu for 4990 FT not forgetting about the 10% service charge they add on top. The vegetarian soup was amazing the flavour was 10/10 but the beef goulash was a little underwhelming and lacked flavour as well as having ONE tiny piece of beef. For main the vegetarian had Hungarian noodles with sauce on top and vegetables. It was fine but I definitely wouldn’t order again. The beef menu was beef stew type thing with rice which again was nothing special but the beef was not dry which is always good. For desserts the vegetarian had a cake which was topped with some coffee chocolate sauce which was so strong no one could finish it. And the beef menu was ice cream which was a tiny portion. Overall the set menu wasn’t badly priced but for the vegetarian the food started 10/10 and went down to a 2/10 for the dessert. And the beef menu was just average. I’m not sure if this is a touristy place but also a 10% service charge when the service wasn’t amazing is annoying. We wouldn’t go back but isn’t that bad for a set menu.

The food was nice, but may not be as in the pictures, especially my beef tenderloin and cheddar 🥲. The cost was also very reasonable for the location and also as there was some outdoor seating. I sat inside, where i felt it was difficult to get staff's attention. The staff was not friendly or was not smiling. I kind of felt a little uncomfortable talking to them. But for food portion size, quality and location it was good.

This small restaurant has great outdoor seating and friendly staff. Foods are attractive, but there is little attention to flavors. Overly decorated dishes are a nice photo op but not a repeat adventure. The atmosphere of the restaurant is vibrant and worth one visit. My 2 dishes didn't look like the pictures on the menu as they plated them with a baroque amount of garnishing. See my cake, for instance. It was supposed to be a bare strudel-like poppy cake. And, came on a pool of cream, choco, and a vanilla sauce. Budget, yes. Typical Hungarian, maybe.

This is all the order for 3 people. It's perfect amount for us and the food is affordable. Very appreciate the menu display. The meat was nice and tender. We wish the langós could have more crunch to it.

The food is unbelievably tasty and the prices are sublime. Just note that once you ask for the bill, be prepared to get a move on. We were ushered on swiftly following payment. The place can be busy during the day, so expect a 5 minute wait. Very suitable for Vegetarians (Vegetarian Langosh is to die for) 🇭🇺 Not amazing for Vegans

A simple dining place with reasonably priced dishes, good service and good quality food. I wouldn’t say the food is marvelous but it gets the job done and keep you going. The Hungarian Beef Goulash was good and the Langosh was delicious as well (the bread is a bit hard though). However, the beef rice was just so-so. The establishment already builds in a 10% service charge to the total. The server might ask you for additional tip which you have to be careful about; so check the final amount before you pay with your card. Would recommend if you need a quick dining in this area, but wouldn’t go out of the way to visit this place for food.

The best food in all Hungary. The restaurant is situated in a central area, near the Christmas Market and it’s very well priced (4000 HUF for a menu with soup, main course and dessert). 100% I will come back

Was not impressed with the food. Feels like tourist trap with disappointing service (forgot/mistaken 3 times our orders, had to wait +20min for the bill) but I guess they don't really care since they are charging automatically 12% for the service on the bill. I think you can find better place nearby with Hungarian cuisine.

A must visit while staying in Budapest! 100% Traditional Hungary beautiful dishes. Combination of tastes and spices were just right and makes you apreciate this cuisine. Only downside is that its usually full (for a good reason) and you have to wait for your food some, but man was it worth it!

The the Hungarian menu was decent and delicious for the price good portion and tasty enough. However, the attention is a shame not because of the language or communication but the manners. The waiter passed on the next dishes before we even finished the first ones. For example, she passed the goulash with rice before we even finish the soup but, IT WAS NOT OK that they passed the ICE CREAM IN SUMMER BEFORE WE FINSH THE SECOND DISH. It was unacceptable the attitude of the STAFF because I gave them back ice cream and told them to put in the fridge and give it back after and when they gave it back it was melted as if they didn’t care by letting the ice cream outside. FOOD REALLY GOOD STAFF WAS TERRIBLE AND THEY INCLUDE THE TIP IN THE BILL DESPITE THEIR SERVICE. They do not deserve a tip

The food is very satisfying, you will defenitely not leave hungry. The food is tradicional but the langosh was too much for me and my friends. I do recommend the goulash and the hungarian noodles, both were delicious and are not gigantic. The ambiance is okay, is not hot but it is usually crowded from 12 to 2 pm. Is not great but is fine if you want to try langosh.

Quiet place for a solo female traveller Wi-Fi upon request the food was cheap and quite a big portion but the service charge at the end was a little annoying as service charge is rarely a thing in Europe especially not at casual dining. But still quite cheap. Waiters who served me was very nice. Would recommend the carbert lagoush (can’t spell it sorry) didn’t try the goulash but prices were very fair.

The good food does not make up for the terrible service as a result of severe understaffing. It was near impossible to get the attention of the staff since they avoid eye contact and are constantly running around, so we were seated for 15 minutes before asking for a menu. The table next to us ordered the same set menu well after us but got two courses when we were being served our first. Then, we sat for 45 minutes before enquiring about our third course which they had missed. At the end, they charged a 10% service fee which is standard, but they also asked for a tip for their service on top of the service fee, which is not standard. The staff are working at 100 miles an hour but cannot keep up with the number of people in the restaurant at a given time. I suggest the owner hire more staff or the staff leave for better working conditions.

A really nice and affordable place! The staff were really kind and helpful, all of them spoke English perfectly. The restaurant offers full course meals which I recommend if you are a foreigner and wanna try different dishes. Their steaks and fruit beers are also great! I definitely recommend it! You can sit inside and outside. They also offer kosher meals which is a nice touch and plenty of jewish meals.

Nice buzzing atmosphere. Ordered the Budapest Beef Menu. The soup was nice and flavoursome. Is the beef goulash with rice meant to be super salty? It was really hard to eat due to salt. At least I can tick Hungarian goulash off my list! The ice cream was yum though not strawberry flavour, maybe they ran out.

Great place for a quick meal. Dishes of national Hungarian cuisine, langos was okay. Extremely small space, it was so crowded that the waiter broke a glass when he walked past the tables. If you want to have a quick meal and be full, then the drum cafe will fit this ctiteria. The location of the cafe is good, but the tables on the street make it very difficult for people to pass.

It’s a perfect place for budget traveler. Beef from Goulash was soft and tasty. (WARNING) But the calamari salad has no calamari inside at all. The rings are purely made out of flour. I’d prefer to pay more to have real calamari salad as that’s what I ordered. (Not flour rings salad)

Super nice cafe with the possibility to try real Hungarian food. It is close to Sinagogue. There were so many people that there was a queue in front of the cafe, but it really worth it. I enjoyed the food there. There was also a possibility to order the dinner consist of three dishes for very reasonable price The cafe is not big, the tables are very close, but it is really worth to come to this place. I recommend all the dishes with Paprika, they were delicious I would come back here again

The best food in Budapest. Doesn't seem like but it is. We came twice, 2 nights. All traditional Hungarian, we ate. Highly recommended.

A popular choice for traditional Hungarian food and beer, and fruit beers. We choose the classic goulash and onion langos, and started with mushroom soup and fish soup which was very satisfying meal. Staff was busy in the floor and we didn't have to wait long to be seated. It's excellent choice for cheap and cheerful dining experience, with charm and character.

Great tasty Hungarian food. Value for money and good position near the city center.

Longer service but great wine, langosh, everything. Our favourite place to eat and chill in Budapest 😊

If you want to try trading cuisine it's place for you! Homemade wine for 1€ and not expensive price for food! Goulash is my favorite dish

Food quality is fine. The real benefit is location and atmosphere of sitting on the tables outside

I went here 3 days in a row. Enough said! Incredible traditional Hungarian food at the best price. Go here now!

Enjoyed the ambient and I liked the idea for the menu which was a actually a folder for business cards. Goulash soup was great and the Langos was tasty. However, both did not blow my mind. With the high numbers of ratings I expected more to be honest. The waiters were just doing their job but they were quite unenthusiastic.

Very delicious. Even on weekends there is the chance to get a table without reservation. Only short waiting. Friendly waiter also. Best price I think you will find here in Budapest to eat and drink. Langosh with very different recipes are available. Also the lemonades are great. Beer I recommend to choose the IPA.

Traditional food served in traditional plates. The food is good but I give 4 stars because I ordered a classic lemonade without sugar and they gave me a mango lemonade with sugar. Also inside was very hot and the AC was not switched on. The price for the menu is affordable and it comes with a lot of food.

Great food, very authentic, well priced and great service. We had Gyula and he went out if our way to help us with ordering and make us feel welcome for our first time in Budapest! Would highly recommend!

Great restaurant with delicious food and extraordinary service! Came here after a recommendation and can easily say it's one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! The food was delicious (beef menu and vegetarian option), filling and not expensive. The service was great! Super attentive staff. We had an amazing time talking and laughing with them. Highly recommended! Can't come to Budapest and not eat here!

We went here for dinner, the menu had a wide vatiety of hungarian dishes. The staff was very friendly and able to help us with questions concerning allergens. Food came super quickly. It was tasty and the portion sizes were good, perfectly filling. Overall nothing bad to say, we had a pleasant time.

good price, good quality too. The place is big and they serve the food quite fast. They have pictures of the doshes so you can doublecheck what you are asking. Not very expensive either.

5 years ago my daughter stumbled upon this restaurant and told us we must try it out during our visit and we are so glad we listened!! Food was delicious and we each loved our meals. If you’re in the area you've got to check this place out!

I've been to Budapest twice, both times for 4 days. I've been to this place about 5-6 times. It was that good and definitely reliable for a good goulash.

The beef goulash is way better than I imagined. So flavorful!! Absolutely delicious Only place we found that made such great langosh But the gem here is their homemade Cherry beer. So sad I only discovered this place on my last day Authentic and delicious Hungarian cuisine

Heavy rain when we went. It is pricey as in tourist district near the Airbnb. However our waiter was energetic and friendly. Langosh was good. Better than the goulash. Not bad for night 1 and late arrival into Budapest.

A nice average touristic place with food which is also fine for the price you pay. Portions are accordingly big/small. Do not expect gourmet kitchen! It is more the "fast food" place - quite full, dishes come fast, and you leave just after finishing your meal. Perfect for the quick lunch!

We had a really good pit stop. Beef goulash potato pancake was good, and local brewered beers were fantastic. Nice atmosphere, quick service and decent food. Highly recommend!!!

Food was not tasty, we eat better langosh in another place, mushrooms soup and chicken one were normal, and this traditional dish in bread (forgot the name) was awful. Atmosphere was nice, little crowded but still, service was good, prices normal

We had dinner for two and all we had was really tasty. Beef goulash, cheese soup and garlic soup in bread. Everything was great and service was fast. Staff was friendly so we obviously decided to pay the little 10% tips, it was well worth it.

Wish we'd have visited here first. Best food in Budapest. Flavorful and delicious. Well balanced seasonings made the taste of Hungary pop into every bite. Can't wait to come back for more.

Excellent food, simple - filling - hearty and a great selection. Menu is in English and all the waiters and servers spoke English. You can pay by card or cash but not a combination of both, so if it's your last meal in Hungary and you're trying to get rid of the last of your local currency then you're out of luck if the meal costs more than the notes you have (but you can pay with card and tip with cash). Their brown beer and their cherry beer are both excellent (I tried each on 2 different visits) but IMHO the brown beer was the winner.

Go there and be there. Spent 5 days in Budapest and walked past this busy, bustling and accommodating restaurant a few times in and out of our apartment. Bit the bullet one evening and waited 10 mins in a queue of around 20 people (mainly couples, but we were a family of 4). Family rules when ordering at a new restaurant: No one can order the same plate as the other person- even the 5 year old loves this challenge. What happened?? Four different forks flying around the table saying ‘try this’ ‘you have to try this’ ‘what’s this flavour?’ Food is amazing. Service is at the pace and style of your own familiar culture and the price is encouraging enough to make you wish that you went there every night. Some places in Budapest try hard with their marketing. This place tries hard with their meeting, greeting, seating and eating. Thank you The Drum for one of our many Budapest highlights.

Tasted goulash and langous here. Everything was delicious. The portions are quite large, the menu is varied, and the prices are reasonable. Service fee - 10%. The waiters hint at tips ;)

Food was fine, it was warm, not hot. But good prices. Service, however, was bad. My waitress looked like she didn't want to be working there - she was not very welcoming, unapproachable, and looked irritated. Would not recommend, there are better local cuisine options elsewhere and better service.

Great food, we definitely enjoyed it, in the city centre, the prices were great as well. The service was nice. The only thing that we recommend - don’t sit next to the entrance. We were aware of that, but will not repeat this mistake again.

Delicious! For €9 the Beef set menu. So good! Can see why it’s popular and it came fast

We waited around 15min in the line (I don't know why because there were empty tables). The food was prepated fast, and it was tasty. There is a charge of 10% on the overall check 🫓🍖

We ordered a delivery from this restaurant for the first time. It fully met our expectations, we got the Premium Hungarian Menu which included a Goulash soup with dumplings and warm soft bread, a risotto with chicken and paprika, poppy seeds with vanilla dressing for dessert. We also got a classic Langos. The food was very tasty and worth the price, highly recommended and would definitely try again! In total we spent 12,070.00 HUF or €31
