We happened to stumble across Karavan while bar hopping. It's a great place to eat/drink with around 8 different food/drink vendors. We ended up visiting twice the first time we had drinks and the second time we had the chicken langos burger 🍔 It was excellent. Definitely recommend this place if you don't know what you want to eat or just want a cool place to have drinks. Best to bring change for the cup deposit.

Nice and energetic place. You can grab something and eat quickly. We tried goulash that served in a bread. It was really good. Goulash was little bit fatty but tasty. Price are normal not cheap

What a funky place. Street food very cool. Tasty various varieties- langos, goulash, Mexican, and many more…loads of beers. You can sit down, listen to music & chill. Reusable cups, return them & get your money back. Can pay in forints, euros or card. Very happy atmosphere. Would definitely go back. Family friendly but can get loud. One downside - no toilets.

Lots of different variety of food and good portions for average prices. No proper seating but enough tables where you can stand and eat. A good location near lots of bars and pubs so can enjoy some tasty foo after a night out ;)

Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon here. The atmosphere is great whether you’re on a date or with a big group of people. There’s so much selection and the food is delicious. My Thai red curry from Thai Wok was out of this world. The best Thai curry I’ve ever had. The Langosh burger was also extremely good - and the chips were perfectly cooked (we even fought over the last one). Definitely worth a visit even for a quick bite to eat - although good luck pulling yourself away from here as there’s so much to try, including all the drinks too!

I'm absolutely in love with this place. Such an awesome concept. It is great for group of friends that like different kind of food or for indecisive people so they can decide on spot 😂. From Mexican over traditional Hungarian to vegan food. Atmosphere is very pleasant

Really cool area. There are 6-8 restaurants or so and then some places to get a drink. Lots of tables, both standing and sitting, to enjoy your food. Most places now accept credit cards (I saw previous reviews mentioned that it was mostly cash only, I’m guessing this has changed). I got Mexican food and a smoothie from two different places and they were both solid tasting and not too expensive (at least by American standards).

Better to visit at night. The place is good for food but will not recommend for tourists. Some of the food trucks are for chains which have shops all over the town. Food is expensive than in nearby restaurants, and the test and quality is not any better. If you are with friends and want to have a few drinks, it is a nice place but not for tourist couples.

I SIMPLY LOVE IT!!! Open 7 days a week, here you can find every kind of street food you want, from hungarian to mexican, vegan, cakes... If you want a coffee, you can also find it here. Or just a cocktail? Trendy open space but cosy, no waiting, just go to the weagon, order and have it. Standing up or seating? Lots of life around! And at night, some music as well. I LOVE THE COCEPT.

This is a small gravel alley full of food trucks. They're lined up on both sides with standing tables in between them, and lots of picnic tables in the very back near a bar truck. You can bring your own food and drink inside the street, but there are so many options that you'll find something here you want to try. Just avoid the goulash. Give something fried a try or get a burger.

Seems like a cute place with lots of American options, but the people working are a bit rude. The Thai stand made me stand in the sun and wait for 5 minutes while he stared at me as he took his time finishing his smoke break. Wouldn't come back. Also would have preferred more local options or even fusion stuff, but found boring American food, including BBQ, fried chicken, tex-mex, pizza, vegan, Thai.

Karavan really does justice to all the hype around it!! The concept is simply too good, the place is nestled in a quarter of Budapest on a lovely street amongst other bars and pubs...once you find Karavan, it’s heaven for any foodie! The place offers a variety of eateries ranging from traditional Hungarian food to Thai, Mexican and even a bar! All of this beauty, free wifi, great crowd, big smiles and a lively ambience make Karavan a must visit when visiting Budapest! There is something for everyone, that too, without damaging your wallet! ;)

Somehow I felt this is hyped place. Little bit costlier than other Budapest eatery joints. Only cool this about this place is ambience. It's super chill, you could enjoy your food happily (even though your food is not that great). One of the counters had loooong queue and others had no customer. Only one place to get your drinks. Tip - visit this place during sunset and see the beautiful lights.

A must place for street food fans. You can find traditional Hungarian dishes, lángos, burgers, Mexican dishes as well as beers and cocktails all in one place. Very popular both with the tourists and the locals. Reasonable prices. *Return your plastic cups with the tokens at the entrance to get 300HUF back!*

This is a nice setting to go for some Karavan-themed local food and hang out with your mates. Beautiful decorations with a variety of lighting. Vegan options and a wide range of burgers are available. They charge for the alcohol container, which you can get reimbursed if you return it to the front reception (token provided). Toilet facilities are available. Staffs are friendly and helpful.

I only tried one of the places, and the bar, so i can’t really speak for the whole place… the caravan who served gullasch was a terrible experience. It almost felt as if the guy was annoyed to remove both of his elbows from the table to pour 2 scoops of the sloppy gullasch. If so i’m so so sorry for the inconvenience brother! Must have taken alot of effort to do that.

A true gem we stumbled across almost randomly. Great variety of street food, from local specialties to many pearls of world's cuisine. You can also grab a drink or pick your favourite food in a vegan variant. Couple that with great atmosphere and life-saving sprinklers cooling down the air, and you've got yourself the perfect place to grab a snack or quick lunch.

One of my favourite places to eat at in Budapest - lots of street foods that cater to everyone! A great atmosphere with lots to eat and drink, cheap and some of the best renditions of authentic Hungarian food. We've visited a few times, it was that good. The langos, goulash as well as the Mexican food were all great! A must visit if you are in the city.

Great place to visit. Lots of people come here to taste different types of Hungarian cuisine. It’s a lively place and in the city centre as well. Near to where we are staying. Lots of choices to choose from! A must-visit when you visit Budapest.

I'm glad we stopped in for lunch! We beat the tour busses dumping tourists off, so go early. Good variety of foods, traditional and non. Drinks have a deposit, so don't forget to return your glasses!

What a great find!! We went to the Jewish quarter for ruin bars but the queue was so long we wandered in to Karavan, it was great fun, so much food choice, and the beer was very reasonably priced. Fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommended a visit!

Great place with many street food choices. Here you can try traditional food or play safe and have a burger or Mexican food, you can have whatever you are in the mood for. What makes it special is the environment , nicely decorated , street food in all its glory.

Great place for street food. Awesome ambiance and great food selection. The food we had was less amazing than we had hoped, but we only tried 2 of the many options, and there was many other delicious looking items.

  • 5/5 Guy R. 4 years ago on Google
Awesome place for lunch, dinner or drink. The crowd is both locals and tourists what makes great atmosphere. The food trucks has a lot of food styles to offer: hamburgers, Asian wok, Italian food, Hungarian langoś, vegan burgers, Mexican food, and more.

  • 2/5 Filip M. 4 years ago on Google
Tried 4 dishes, each and everyone disappointed (including the Langos Burger). It seems that this place lives off the reputation of being the street food spot in Budpest yet the foodtracks take it for granted without bringing any fresh ideas into their menus or even carrying about the taste.

  • 3/5 Sarah O. 4 years ago on Google
Nice street food market, with many options to choose from. We had the beef stew from the Goulash Station. The bread bowl was stale and as hard as a rock, the stew was nice but nothing amazing.

We had a Langos and a Langos burger. Both were freshly made but tastewise nothing particularly interesting that we want to eat for a second time. The saussage from the goulash stand was rather unpleasant to eat. A bit less than lukewarm and served with bread that tasted like if it was one or two days old.

  • 4/5 Victor S. 3 years ago on Google
The place was really beautiful, it was located in a bag alley with lots of food trucks, you can choose everything from vegan burger to goulash so there is something for everyone. We choose a langos burger, but we both agreed that it was to heavy salted and generally a bit to heavy. The taste was okay but it would have been nice with something sour or bitter in the burger. The place gets 5 stars and the langos burger gets 3 so a total of 4 stars.

  • 5/5 Sarah G. 3 years ago on Google
Cheap (but good beer) from one truck and the best BBQ pulled pork sandwich from another (Smoke Riders). It was the best tasting pulled pork I’ve had in a looooong time. Highly recommend Smoke Riders!

  • 4/5 Laura M. 4 years ago on Google
Loved this place in Budapest! Would give it five stars but didn't love the not so kind attitude from one of the vendors (who proceeded to blatantly ignore me and talk to their friends next to me before acknowledging I was standing there). However I loved the other vendors! A handful of vegan options which was awesome too. We went in the rain and I can imagine it's so much fun when it's nice out

  • 5/5 Amy-Rose B. 5 years ago on Google
This place is super cool with do many options of stuff. Even though it's outside the food trucks keep it kinda warm and the heating in the toilets was super good? Like crazy hot in there and they were nice and clean which you wouldn't necessarily expect of an outdoorsy toilet thing.

Avoid the Goulash Station. Not sure what I expected but the concept of stew in a bread bowl does not work. It's super tough to break apart at the edges and soggy at the bottom. The Goulash was tasteless and had less flavour than the bread. Not worth the money.

(Translated by Google) The street food caravan is located exactly between two old buildings. There are around ten different mobile stands with food and drinks on the site. The selection ranges from cocktails and Hungarian langos to steaks and ice cream. Everyone can find something for their taste here. There is also a relatively large number of standing tables and seating. I thought the mix was pretty good. A few meters further there are various ruin bars in an abandoned building under Szimpla Kert. In this respect, it is advisable to visit both locations one after the other. (Original) Der Streetfood Caravan liegt genau zwischen zwei Altbauten. Auf dem Gelände befinden sich in etwa zehn verschiedene mobile Stände mit Essen und Getränken. Quaint small court filled with food trucks, stalls and tables. The food and the ambiance are nice, if a little bit crowded. I came in here back in 2018 and the food stalls were more varied and there were more seats available. Still a nice authentic place in Budapest to have some street food, although you night be standing, sharing or waiting for a table in peak hours since the space is not large.

Great place to dine in Budapest! The optimal for street fooding! Many fast food options in a really cosy place. To be honest both of me and my wife were slightly food poisoned... But we enjoyed that much that we overcome that fact!

If you want to eat a good Hungarian Goulash quickly this is your place. Although it is a fast food place, it has a great quality!

The place itself is very pretty with lots of seating options, even though the place is usually really crowded. I had a regular langos, which was really yummy! But it was fairly big, so I recommend eating that when you're very hungry, or sharing it with someone

In Karavan you have various choices of food. You can have burgers, langos, goulash, vegan, chimney cakes and drinks. Go and visit if you want a fast meal while exploring the city, you won't regret it.

This is a very interesting place in Budapest with food vans ready to offer a large variety of street food starting with kurtos kolacs, home made cakes, burgers (even for people who dont eat meat), specialities of langos and so on. If you want to drink a beer, you wil receive it in a glass that you should to return if you want to get back those 300 forints deposit. Ofcourse the clients are the young people who make this place one of the refreshing places in the field of street food. By the way, the kurtos si very very good.

Very cool, climatic place, many food trucks with plenty of choice, also good option for vegetarians, nice music. I would only suggest to change bread for soup for another type of plate so theres no need to waste food - I've noticed that noone was eating the bread itself.

Great place for food in the late evening when no restaurant cook anymore. It was after 10 p.m. and we were hungry so we were very happy for the place. From several bistro we choose Mexkitchen and we were excited. The tortillas were delicious. I can recommend the place.:) Only one disadvantage was that there were a lot of people but it confirms how fine place it is.

I ate here like three times in a three day visit. They have lots of options all from stands as we as an area to sit. The vibe is fun and lots of people are drinking and relaxing. They even have a stand that does a nicer version of a Crunchwrap supreme from Taco Bell and it was really good. You must go here and try something when you visit. The langos was already really good. Everything is also super affordable I would return.

I love the whole concept of the food court. The whole armosphere of the open space with different food truck put in between residential buildings is just amazing. I love it! Almost everytime I visit Budapest I stop by for a quick bite and a beer. Oh, and I really like the concept of reusable plastic glasses. 🙌

What an awesome place to come if you want to grab different bites to eat as well as different drinks! They have lots of options to choose from including Hungarian (goulash and chimney cakes) as well as Mexican and American. They also have lots of trucks with different types of cocktails, beers, wines and so on. All of the food looks seriously delicious so it was a bit hard to choose which is not a bad problem to have. We ended up with Mexican food which was so tasty. They do also have vegetarian and vegan options if that’s your thing. Prices are fair. It wasn’t too crowded on a Saturday during lunch time.

Such a cute alley - we came across this area at night after dinner, and it was so fun to walk through, see all the unique vendors (quite a mix of different eats to choose from), and enjoy the colourful lights and lanterns. Would definitely recommend coming here in the evening… perhaps for a late night snack or to meet up with friends!

Among the places with the coolest and tastiest food trucks I've been to in the world. A wide and very tasty variety of options. Really cool atmosphere and just fun to sit there

Amazing vibe. A great place to hangout with your friends. Really good eating and drinking options. Liked craft beers, and burgers from Las Vegans. It didn't feel too crowded but it was still lively. The people serving were polite too :)

This was a great find! Lots of choice of great Street food, cocktails and beers on offer and a really buzz around the place. Perfect for a pit stop between bars/clubs

Don't go there. It's just a rip off. You can have a decent meal at a fancy restaurant for the price you pay here for the junk food. Food is not worth the price you pay for. We also went there for the hype and tried goulash and a pad Thai. Pad Thai was horrible and it doesn't worth 5100 forint at all. Must avoid.

Best langos we've ever eaten. The variety of options it's quite impressive, if you've always tried the simple ones. They are a great lunch for a summer day, along with a cold beer!

Street Food Karavan in Budapest is a must-visit for anyone looking to sample some of the city's best street food. This outdoor food court is located in a trendy neighborhood and offers a wide variety of local and international dishes. The atmosphere at Street Food Karavan is lively and fun, with plenty of seating options and a friendly crowd. The food stalls range from traditional Hungarian dishes like goulash and chimney cake, to international options like tacos and burgers. During my visit, I tried several different dishes and was impressed with the quality and flavor of each one. The prices are also very reasonable, making it a great option for travelers on a budget. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Street Food Karavan if you're in Budapest. It's a great way to sample a variety of dishes in a fun and casual setting, and it's definitely worth a visit for any food lover.

The vegan stall was amazing and very delicious with a fantastic range of items and every type of non meat burger you could imagine! Highly recommend to everyone to be honest. Great selection of alot of foods. I had the hi roll which was a chickn wrap with veganaise and lettuce and it was a very generous portion and cooked as you wait so was recently prepared!

Feels just like home. With roughly a dozen food trucks and two bars, this little alleyway eatery is fantastic for a quick bite and socializing. I would absolutely recommend the Tex-Mex/ Mexican food truck.

Definitely the best spot in Budapest central for food or drinks or atmosphere or anything you could possibly want in any way what so ever. Went everyday, enough said really 😛

  • 5/5 Simone H. 8 months ago on Google
Fantastic little food truck place that's super casual. They offer everything from sweets, Ramen, Mexican, BBQ, langos, goulash, burgers and vegan food. The back area has tables to sit down on as well as restrooms.

Such a great concept, a load of food vans in one place providing a great selection of different dishes in different styles. We had BBQ pulled port sandwiches which were to die for and a nice local beer. OK so it's not exactly street-food prices but the quality is there and the portions are generous so definitely worth the money. On a sunny day it has a great vibe to stand around eating and chatting but there is little cover so if it's raining maybe take the food elsewhere....

A very nice surprise in the heart of Budapest. A must for food lovers but not healthy food. Opens till 12. Will be back for sure.

Pretty decent place to hang out and get food! Great choice of cuisines but not the best choices of vegetarian. Very casual. Go here with an empty stomach!

  • 5/5 Alexandra M. 8 months ago on Google
Really good langos. Good food and drinks. Nice atmosphere. Can be a bit crowded sometimes but if you wait a bit you will find a spot to eat your meal. Nice place to hang out with friends.

What a great place to come eat with some of the best street food in Budapest. So much variety we always looked forward to our night at Ruin Bar just so we could visit before, during and after.

  • 5/5 Daniel C. 5 months ago on Google
Really cool street food market, great for dinner and drinks, and right by the ruin bars too. The duck langos burger was delicious and huge, and the pulled pork baguette was great too!

Good atmosphere and service. The goulash looks good but portions were too small. It also didn’t taste that amazing, very watery and flavour is weak.

My recent visit to Karavan in Budapest left me with mixed feelings. While it's touted as an interesting place to visit and eat, the experience fell short of the expected "wow" factor. The diverse array of food options seemed promising, but the overall ambiance and culinary offerings lacked the spark to make it truly memorable. It's an adequate pitstop for a quick bite, but if you're seeking an extraordinary dining experience, you might want to explore other options in the vibrant Budapest food scene.

Food prices are touristy 2-3x normal prices for average tasting food. Walk a couple blocks away from the bar and there are several places to satisfy the hangover without breaking the bank.

It is a crowded place and rightly so, there are many Street Food with really good food keeping the traditional. We love langos and were fascinated to eat a burger of it. High prices but worth it. Highly recommended!
