During a recent trip, we stumbled upon a hidden gem that was a delightful surprise. The highlight of the experience was undoubtedly the diverse and extensive menu. The array of appetisers, meals, beverages, cocktails, and spirits was impressive, catering to every palate. Whether we were ready for a quick bite or a lavish feast, this place had it all. The quality of the food and drinks was commendable, and the flavours were a treat to the taste buds. What truly set this place apart was the attentive and pleasant staff. They exuded warmth and professionalism, making sure every customer felt at home. In the evening, the place transformed into a lively place with the addition of live music. The most enchanting aspect, however, was the nostalgic touch that harked back to the days of the monarchy.

It is a beautiful place place to have breakfast, the food is okey. The Parisian Tower is too expensive for what they offer, but the eggs are good. Service was good as well.

I really enjoy the atmosphere, service, food everything here! I only knew they were closed for 2 years due to pandemic and just re opened for 3 weeks ago. Hope they get it through. The live piano performance was lovely and amazing too.

I remember that I met my friend there for a quick chat and coffee. This place has a fancy design and a cute terrace. We didn’t try any foods except for the apple shaped mousse cakes which we were gorgeous. Just one thing, sometimes it was hard to get the waiters’ attention but the place might have been busy 😅

As we are not staying in the hotel, so we would just talk about the restaurant (as we have just dined there) 1. The decorations are very classic , cozy. 2. The choices of breakfast were not as much as we thought, very little selection before 11. 3. The staff attitude are great 4. The drinkings are refreshing and not too sweet in flavor. We recommend the lemonade 5. The price is pretty pricey though, don't recommend you to go there if you are in tight budget. 6. The food is good, not overcooked and flavored nicely Overall: It is a good restaurant with nice decoration and good food quality but pricey.

One of the most beautiful cafes of Budapest 😍 we tried Hungarian cake tasting plate - just perfect size to get to know the desserts. Pogacsa was also very delicious. Tea selection truly impressed me - highly recommend.

We've been in Budapest for the weekend and this place is so good that we've eaten here 2 days running. The decor and ambience is second to none. We enjoyed a perfect brunch yesterday and today we've had a fantastic lunch with excellent service from Bence for which we are most grateful. It's hard to recommend anything in particular because it really is all so good, but the Central Eggs Benedict are a must as if the coffee cake. By far the best place in Budapest

Had an amazing experience here. The servers were so helpful and friendly, especially Bence, he was patient enough to educate us a bit about the cuisine and accommodating to our whims lol. Need to come back before I leave.

We’ve been there for our marriage anniversary and I just can say „wow“! Thank you dear Central cafe team especially Mr. Laci who made this night one of our best experiences in our whole life 😍 They gave us a couple of champagne glasses and one dessert on the house for our anniversary Live Music is perfect and the place is so cozy and calm. Food is so nice and healthy. It is a must to try Thank you guys 😍🥂

One of the many iconic Kavehaz of Budapest. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere was delightful with a true sense of old world charm. English menus were available. Service was prompt and efficient. Our meals were delicious. We did not have reservations, but I do think it would be a good idea.

Salmon tar tar, gnocchi with blue cheese and desserts we tried were really yummy. As for the matcha ice tea, I felt like it was a bit flavorless. Service and atmosphere were top notch - we will be coming back 😊

Reasonably priced food and drinks in a delicate, historical atmosphere. We had the afternoon tea set which was decent for 2 people. In the afternoon, there were a pianist and violinist who played beautifully and made the vibe so much cozier. I wish the staff could be more attentive though, but they were friendly. I would definitely come back.

Lovely interior, plenty of dessert and main dish options. Service was not great though, we had to walk in to be greeted and only after asking for the bill did we get it. Servers could be seen standing about and there was a very casual attitude towards us. There was a 15% service charge added to the final bill, but I didn’t think it was quite worth it. I ordered a slice of the Dobros cake which was great - thick layer of crunchy caramel on top and chocolate layered in the cake. One of our party ordered a cappuccino which came with a small glass of water and cookie. There was live music - violin and piano duet, and someone who celebrated their birthday was serenaded. Overall, you’re paying for the food/drinks and atmosphere.

The beauty of this place is undeniable. Each and every corner has a cute original design. It’s historic in a very visible way. I loved the choice of music, the open doors to the terrace and everything about the place where you can sit for hours, enjoy, check your emails, talk to your friends etc- they don’t mind at all😊The coffee and food quality however can be greatly improved to meet the beauty of the place.

Omelette and pancakes were good. Eggs Benedict came out with hard boiled eggs! After pointing it out, apparently that’s how they make it, remade it and eggs came out super runny, one extreme to another. The salmon bagel came with an over easy fried egg on top, menu gave no indication of that. Service slow. they do take credit cards.

One of the most historic coffee houses in Budapest. Reservation is not necessary. Staff is very friendly and their prices are reasonable meaning that if you go to Starbucks, the one that is in the Castle District, you probably pay the same amount for mediocre quality. They speak English and have menus in English. Definitely a better experience than Starbucks. Bathrooms were very clean.

This is a great place. I took my wife on Valentine's day. The place was kind of packed so we set at the bar and the service was great. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles and I must tell it was great.

What a beautiful cafe. Went there for breakfast and loved its location on a quiet corner. Sitting outside with the sun on me and eating a delicious bagel with a homemade lemon/orange lemonade was a great start to the day. Service was great!

The food is fantastic and the prices are very affordable, especially compared to those of other cafes. We had breakfast and came once again later tonight to have some drinks while listening to some live piano music. The barman was really nice and treated us very kindly. The cocktails he served us were amazingly delicious! And the prices, again, very reasonable! The only bad thing is that we posponed visiting this place becaise otherwise we would have gone again to try some more of their appetizing suggestions... We'll definitely go back there the next time we visit this beautiful city!!

This was a great surprise for us. We literally just stopped to see how the restaurant looks like and had an amazing breakfast. The atmosphere is fantastic, there is live piano music. The only thing I would recommend changing are the portions of food. All of the breakfast options are small for someone who is hungry.

  • 5/5 Shay s. 4 months ago on Google
Laci was exceptional. We were delighted by his level of service. The ambiance is truly special, the pianist added such class to the experience. I ordered a cappuccino (which was perfect) and the stuffed French toast, so delicious! Not too sweet as they make it with rye bread and pumpkin seeds. I would make a reservation going forward as it was very busy on a Sunday morning.

My first trip to Budapest. We ate here after reading a review that the Central Grand Cafe was one of the top restaurants to eat in Budapest. Our server, Dorina, gave us wonderful service and advised us on what to eat. All of our food was wonderful and very tasty. 10 out of 10!

Probably the best breakfast I had at Budapest. Came on a Wednesday morning around 10am and was seated right away. There was a solo violin player that added to the intimate yet spacious ambiance. Food was excellent (had the eggs Benedict which had the perfect consistency and a perfectly baked croissant). Service was also attentive. Would dine again.

I've been to this cafe three times, everything was just great, but the last time I visited, the waitress made a mistake with my order and I asked her to replace it with what I ordered first, because I don't like meat. I saw on her face that she was not satisfied with my order and when finally I got what I ordered (and it was Vegan Tower Brunch), the vegetables were not fresh at all, the rolls were like yesterday's. I didn't eat it, exapt a croissant I have no desire to return to this cafe any more. I am so upset

Today me and my friend had a great experience at the central cafe! The place is very very beautiful. The stuff is very welcoming, attentive and kindhearted. I had baked French potatoes - that dish was so so good and not pricey at all especially for a fancy looking place like that I was surprised! The portion was also big so I was full and happy ☺️ I’m definitely coming back and recommending it to you💛

Nice and classic vibe. We went after 9:00PM and enjoyed wines and the deserts. We tried the desert called 'Tasting Hungary' which served 3 kinds of Hungarian traditional deserts. All are very sophisticated and good taste. The waiters are very polite and professional, also kind. Worth visiting!

One of the best places for enjoying a quality time in Budapest; Place, live musics, oldie style; quality of the foods, lovely and caring staffs all would Bering you back in this place again and again; I loved my egg Benedict and coffee 😋 Consider the parking area around as it’s in the heart of the city Center ; You can find few private parking place which for one it them which is the closest you need to wait around 20 min to get your car.

This restaurant ist extraordinary. Absolutely great food, nice service, beautiful ambiance and oh so much more. I personally give five stars very rarely, but this place deserved it. While the prices are just a little more expensive then at other places the food is worth every penny and more. It is great to have nice conversations with friends and so on and so forth. The whole experience here was amazing and I can only recommend it to everyone from out of town going to Budapest.

Central Cafe and Restaurant is considered the world's beautiful restaurant, and I can assure you that title is accurate. The art and crafts inside of the restaurant are unique and fascinating and contain so many details. The staff is exceptionally polite and friendly. This is a vegetarian-friendly restaurant. The portion size is good, and considering the title it has, the price is reasonable too. The atmosphere and the elegant look inside cannot be described as you must visit and experience this.
