Menu is short but food is so great. ☺️ My favorite is the Cottage cheese ball with sour cream, cinnamon and lemon zest. They do offer steaks too. The interior is very unique! Cozy and modern. Sometimes they provide life music which makes the place super warm.

Best restaurant in Budapest. Fantastic modern food with plenty of Hungarian and French influence. Produce is sourced from great locations and the wine list is to die for. We were served by a charismatic and fun young man at the the bar tables. He made our entire evening an unforgettable experience by offering helpful suggestions, talking us through the menu, letting us try wine, and he even took something off our bill when we didn’t like it (which he even warned us in advance about!). Truly fantastic staff, beautiful location and atmosphere, incredible food and a three piece band playing upbeat tunes all night. 5 stars - couldn’t rate it more highly.

Possibly the BEST restaurant in Budapest! Certainly some of the best food in Budapest, and most likely the best service. Absolutely surpassed our expectations. The food was amazing, the service was absolutely above & beyond, definitely a must visit in Budapest and far better than some other high rated but overrated places around. We had the Kagoshima wagyu steak which was cooked to perfection, and if you know your steaks, you’ll know that Japanese wagyu steak is the best steak in the world. And we also had the potato gratin, which was lovely and just the right size and level of creaminess without being too rich. From the get-go we were given a very warm welcome, and our server was just exceptionally attentive, kind and welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the dishes as well. There was so much attention to detail, thought and care into everything we were served. The bread and olive oil, which came with an optional spice, were delicious and on the house. The steak was served with 3 types of delicious dips. We were even offered some very lovely free champagne, as well as some little treats post-meal (as we did not order dessert). It was like little surprise gift after little surprise gift! Not to mention the ambience, which is great. The decor is gorgeous, seats were comfortable, and it was very cosy and not noisy at all (we came for lunch). And everything was reasonable priced, more than worth the money given the quality, ambience, service, and generous freebies. This lunch experience was definitely a highlight of our trip, and we highly recommend anyone in Budapest to visit! Thank you so much for the incredible food and even more incredibly warm service (sorry we didn’t get your name, but we had a very lovely and kind lady server), you have really made our trip :) <3

Even though it began just as a bakery in 1914, it is now a bistro. A chic one, a cozy one, elegant and special thanks to its design. The ambience and the menu especially take the experience to the next level. It is creative, unique and very tasty. The service overall is above any reproach. The personnel is highly skilled, amiable, ready at a moment's notice to assist you. The food's aroma matches the bistro's style flawlessly. That's also precisely why we came back here, 4 years after we first discovered it. Congratulations to the chef and the rest of the team!

I don’t know where to start. Maybe from a good side: 1. The restaurant is beautiful, gives you Florida vibes with a Central European twist, great ambience with a DJ music. Amazing decor. 2. Food is delicious, fresh and fragrant ingredients prepared with care and thought. Beautiful presentation. 3. The front of the house is great, makes you feel welcome and make sure you are seated comfortably. And now the “not so good”: 1. It’s too dark in the restaurant, everyone is flashing their phones to read the menu. 2. The drink menu is so uncomfortable to read, small book that’s hard to flip the pages. 3. Our waiter: tall, well build, middle aged gentleman whose name I didn’t get was dry in his approach. There was little of excitement to serve us, rather slight annoyance. Especially when we wanted to have more information on menu or asked to deviate from the menu when ordering drinks. Restaurant like this needs happy, energetic people who are happy to work with other humans. Like the gentleman who served wine at the table next to ours, so cheerful. 4. Prices are really high, for a Budapest dinner to pay more than in Four Seasons hotel is a bit of exaggeration in ny opinion - 320€ for two with 3 cocktails. 🤯 Might not return.

Very nice place for breakfast or lunch or dinner. Waiters are very kind. Everything clean. There is a very romantic room to have dinner downstairs. Reccomended. Prices are high but its justified cause of the quality of the food and the quality of the place.

Memorable Easter brunch experience. Admittedly, I had forgotten it was Easter when I booked and we were pleasantly surprised by the celebratory atmosphere. Do try the duck benedict, it was a lovely dish. Would have loved to try the impressively large schnitzel, but a reason to return next time.

Really tasty food in cool surroundings, and good vibes. The staff is very friendly and helpful… in short I’m a big fan, although the place falls in the pricy end of the spectrum in Budapest.

Delicious food yet on the way pricey end. We ordered the roasted duck and Angus rib eye steak. Roasted duck was amazing, the medium of the rib eye was a bit overcooked, should have ordered medium rare instead of medium. Also, for some reason I saw other tables get bread and butter right after they ordered but we didn't get any until we asked. Don't know if it's because we sat at the bar. Besides that the decor and atmosphere was unique and very relaxed. The live music was a great as well.

It was a pleasant experience. No booking, late lunch, raining day, tourist, and with 2 kids. Service was great, and you can feel it they take care of you. My little one got a drawing kit to play, and she loved little kid toilet set up. I loved their welcome drink and thoughtful considerations for my kids. Thanks

Wonderful! Fantastic! Delicious! We don't need the words except for praise words, when we evaluate Déryne. We appreciate a staff who served us have special thoughtfulness.

We had a lovely dining experience at Deyene. For our appetizers, we ordered the calamari and lobster spaghetti, and for sharing, we tried the Austrian ribeye and the seabass. As side dishes, we had the spinach and sweet potato, which were all incredibly tasty. The seabass stood out as the most delicious dish. This was our first time dining at this restaurant, which was recommended by a friend who used to frequent it. We were impressed by the eclectic and charming decor.

We had high expectations but were desapointed! The place is nice indeed but we were disappointed with the dishes. They are very estheticly served but the veal schnitzel had more coating than meat! The carpacio was such a tiny portion, The calamari dish was also miniature. Desert, plum dumpling was tasty and worthed. Much to expensive for what we ate ,comparing with all the restaurants we ate in Hungary during 8 days.

We went to this restaurant with our niece and her partner who were visiting Budapest for only a few days. They chose this restaurant. My husband and I are both professionals in the hospitality industry in both Australia and Hungary, however, this restaurant does not meet the standards which are advertised. The meals were cold and sides were raw. And the charges for these meals were absolutely ridiculously expensive. We paid 135.000ft = AUD$598.00 for 4 main meals, 2 G&T's, 1 Pinot, 1 Coke, and 2 bottles of sparkling water. Highway robbery!

We enjoyed a small lunch outside. Very nice atmosphere and great service. The duck was amazing, the salad was okay nothing special but still good.

One of my must visit places in Budapest for the last 10+ years. The atmosphere is fantastic and the attention to details is unbelievable. It is one of the most impressive restaurants I have ever been to anywhere. On my last visit on top of the regular renovations I found the menu changed to be geared more towards fine dining and fancy ingredients. Gone are the schnitzel, burger, duck breast etc. and enters the Wagyu. The food and service were great and the presentation was excellent as expected but I felt the place less accessible due to the high prices. We paid 220€ for two starters, one main and one dessert (no alcohol - bill attached).

I got a recommendation for this restaurant from a friend. So I visited with my colleague. I must say the food was delicious! We had a personal waiter Choba(hope I write it right) , and he was amazing and funny!! I will definitely visit again. We had lamb with potato mash...

I really loved everything about this place. The decor and style is just stunning - even the bathroom was a joy! Sadly I was only on a city break but I’d highly recommend this to anyone I know planning to visit Budapest. We visited twice in one weekend! Thank you - you have created a beautiful space.

Whether you dine inside or out, this is an absolutely charming space to be in. The service is top notch and the food is absolutely delicious, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The coffee is second to none - I say this as an Italian. Favourite breakfast haunt, but the menu looks great for any time of day. Is especially pretty lit by fairy lights in the evening!

My fiancé and I went to Déryné to celebrate our last night in Budapest and our 30th birthdays! The whole night, staff, food, atmosphere, everything was exceptional! We had the most magical and special evening we could have hoped for and more! The food was unbelievable, the staff went above and beyond and the whole place is a 5 star venue! Would highly recommended to anyone! Thank you for having us!

A very unique and sophisticated place on the Budapest food map! The menu is short but with various options that will match anyone’s requirements. Ingredients are high-quality and super fresh. Our dedicated waiter made our experience even more special. Another plus point is the fact that you can visit Déryné with your dog, everyone is an animal lover there :) it is for sure a pretty expensive place but the overall experience makes it worth it.

A historic café turned into a very chic, French-style restaurant. The food is delicious, mostly Hungarian and European. The homemade bread and butter are incredible. The service is so attentive it's slightly overwhelming, it is a rarity to find such professional waiters these days. It's on the expensive side but old school luxurious.

First time in this restaurant and we highly appreciated it! The best gyozas we have ever taste! The grilled almond tiramisu is also fabulous! Service is nice and food is delicious. However, keep in mind that this restaurant is not for small ticket… but quality is on!

For the expectation they boast of excellence, this place is vastly mediocre. It's difficult to be so critical, however, the quality does not match the price. Upon arriving, we were recommended "wonderful and cozy seats," which happened to be at the bar, closest to the door on the coldest day of the year so far; an extremely high traffic area. We thought maybe because we didn't have reservations, however, when we finished our meal, the restaurant was at most 75% full and more suitable seating was available the entire time. We spent a lot here, perhaps too much, mostly because we expected great things. After ordering our meal, the staff recommended bringing us all of our dishes at the same time, with no order, telling us that everything is served in plates to share family style. By the time we tried a bite of each, everything had gotten cold. We started with the oysters from France, which were perfectly fresh. However, they were shucked carelessly, so we had bits of shell throughout each bite. We opted to try their dry aged wagyu ribeye. We've had both dry aged steaks and wagyu before, but this one missed the mark on both fronts. It was cooked with great skill but I was unsure if it was aged at all and the cut was inconsistent throughout the steak with a large line of chewy connective tissue that was stuck in my teeth all night afterwards. The duck gyoza had an interesting wrapper with great chew and sufficient filling, but the duck was dry and not delicate. The calamari was tender, and the sauce was good, but it was incredibly overhanded. When trying to get a balanced bite from the dish, you couldn't tell that there was any squid in both texture and flavor. Maybe personal preference, but I believe that there was nothing done to highlight the calimari at all. There is more I could discuss outside of just food, but if you're willing to pursue their menu for great food and/or a unique experience, youre much better off going to a recognized Michelin starred restaurant considering the price. If you're willing to budget yourself, be prepared for non memorable dishes. Perhaps it's the location. Perhaps it is a tourist trap. No matter the case, we were unfortunately disappointed.

Great, amazing, loved it. Must return! This place has become my new measuring stick for bistros world wide. It's soo my style and the food was heavenly, every bite was a delight. You can literally taste the care and attention to detail. The staff is professional and upbeat, you feel cared for and it seemed to me that they enjoy being there. It's definitely on the more expensive side🫰, but you can insert the "shut up and take my money" meme right here They started us off with some bottled water, complementary sourdough and a plate of olive oil with a herb mix. Sounds plain writing it here, but I guess you had to be there. I imagine this is how sourdough was always meant to taste like. I need to tell all those pandemic home bakers about it 😅 I had the duck liver with eggs Benedict and a delightful hollandaise sauce. I asked for more sourdough and licked the plate clean🤣. My gf had the duck leg confit in champagne infused cabbage and probably the best mashed potatoes we ever tasted😅...also one the best duck leg I tried. Good luck to us trying to recreate it at home...and failing 🤭 I think this is the main reson I go to a restaurant. To eat foods that are simply out of my league as a home cook. I remember also having tea, quite a large pot..each. I guess one to share would have been enough ;p I only have one negative...if you can call it that. Probably more of a recommendation or a wish...yes, a wish. I wish the bottled water would have been complementary, or if you just offer it, maybe a lesser or local brand. It kind of stood out on the bill as a "I can't believe I paid this much for water". PS: the wall with the celebrity autographs was a cool surprise and a nice flex. Handing out copies with the check is a baller move. I'd say the Matthew McConaughey photo was a good choice for us

Very nice place with great decoration, music and atmosphere overall. The brunch is amazing! I would definitely go back and recommend the place. The only thing I would change would be the sizes of some of the dishes - as well as include some sides together with some of the main dishes (e.g the schnitzel)

  • 5/5 Aizak D. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing place to enjoy a delicious and fancy dinner! Music, decorations and friendly staff will make your visit worth it. Even two waiters spoke Spanish and they were really making sure we had a nice time. We ordered beef (a must), duck (too little), spanish potato (nice). The interior is also a great choice!

We were here on a Thursday night and the place was looking amazing, the food was great and the staff has been perfect! Thanks for this experience

Having had a wonderful 12 day touring holiday of Hungary what a lovely place to spend our last night in Budapest. Exceptionally friendly staff and my husband and I really appreciated a glass of bubbles which our waiter brought when we said it was our last night before we returned home. Excellent food n delicious wine, and as for the music... wonderful. Because of the pandemic we haven't heard live music in over 18 months... what a treat. All I can say is WOW!!!

Very nicely decorated cafe/ restaurant. The food also didn’t disappoint. The schnitzel really is big, but thin so easy to eat. The duck leg and cabbage was delicious…wish the portion was bigger. And the salad dressing was one of the best I had in a restaurant (basic and delicious).

I visited here to celebrate my friend’s birthday and this place was sooooo great. The atmosphere and the service were unbelievable. The food was good but a little bit salty for us. The most impressive thing was all the staff was always smiling. And it made us feel welcomed and well-treated. If someone asks about here, I’ll just raise my thumbs up.

Déryné! What can I say? You blew my mind! I am amazed with your perfectly balanced food! So professional team. Great interior design which is soft, modern but with a vibe of old times. AND THE LADIES ROOM! Chirping birds in the toilet? Well, yes! I will steal with pride this solution to my home ;) And last but not least: music! Matches perfectly the atmosphere. I have heard that there are also live music session but unfortunately not on the day of our visit. Déryné - it was a pleasure! Thank you!

Fantastic restaurant and atmosphere. The service was super, the staff is very professional and kind. The food was very good and the kitchen close at midnight which is a plus. 5 stars! (1to10) Food: 9 Service: 10 Atmosphere: 9

Heard lots about this place and certainly enjoyed the whole experience. Service was great, food was great (and filling) so can't really fault it. It did feel as though it's a place to be "seen" but that's not too much of an issue for myself. However if you're not comfortable in overly lit spaces where everybody sizes you up when you enter, then it won't be for you. Try the goulach. PS. Parking was a nightmare for us.

A restaurant that truly deserves a review! Located in a vibrant area of Budapest, the place is truly amazing. Excellent food, good selection of wines, welcoming atmosphere with a live a DJ. The service was truly outstanding. Love the open kitchen area as well. Not the cheapest, but considering all of the above, it is genuinely good value for money. Exceptional on all levels, I highly recommend it!

A place that you have to visit if you love good quality food and good atmosphere. The waiters are very different compared to other places we visited in Hungary. Smiling and extremely helpful. The place itself has amazing interior, made with a lot of taste. Down floor gives you the impression that you are in the middle if the night in some high class night club. Definitely worth checking out.

  • 5/5 Petra K. 9 months ago on Google
Déryné is a status symbol of the Budapest elite yet it managed to stay extremely down to Earth. Fancy words on the menu hide real classic flavours with a wonderful twist and every single person in service would make you feel like you’re the most important person in there that day. Every time I’m back home in Budapest with friends who visit the country for the first time, this is where I take them first - only to set the bar very high.
