Very old facility. Broken shower head. And the worst of all: Bad customer service. I asked for room cleaning but nothing had happened from the time I left the hotel at 9:00 until 19:00 when I came back exhausted. The receptionists were just rude. I will come back to Budapest. But definitely not this hotel. Trust me. You won’t want it either, especially at the given price of ~90€ per night.

General: Really old wooden scratched furniture that do not even fit together. Arranged in uncomfortable way. Room looks like an old storage unit. Bathroom not cozy too. Toilet side almost stuck to the wall. Old bathroom equipment. Tv is at least 15 year old, hd (720p) lcd tv that does not even work or at least could manage to turn it on. Some of the light bulbs were burned out. Central heating system not working not even if you turn it on from the room switch. Minibar fridge was empty but fridge was working fine. Do not expect a window f Room was noisy at all times. Generator room closeby. Really zero level of soundproofing. You could hear people talking in the next room or when using the bathroom. I am almost certain there was a homeless guy spleeping on the sofa close to the lift. He was there for 2 days. Cleanliness: There is a serious problem regarding hygiene in the whole hotel. Carpets are contaminated with stains everywhere around the hotel from corridors to the rooms. The bathtub, toilet seat and bed sheets with pillow cover were full of human hairs. If there are hairs in the bathtub it means it hasnt even been rinsed with water, imagine hoping to be clean. Water Kettle of the room was definitely contaminated with bacteria. There was still some water there (i dont know since when) and had a foul, rotten sort of odour. Please do not make your coffee there. Spider webs in corners and room was dusty throughout. Single use shampoo and conditioner bottle were half filled and not sealed which mean were used before and the staff did not bother replacing them with new. Running water from bathroom was red in colour contaminated with rust and i dont know what else. Summary: OLD and DIRTY. I don't know why this is a 4 star hotel. When the experience it offers is no more than 2 stars. Do not bother. Sleep elsewhere.

Update upon response: A generic response that feels ironic, doesn't add any value. The contrary. Best regards The rooms are nice, the staff could be more friendly and speak better English. The highlight of the stay was when I went to sleep. I realized that the sheet is not long enough to cover the bed. So my pillows were touching the mattress. This is unacceptable. I had to redo my bed so the sheet will cover the top of the bed and leave the bottom part of the mattress exposed. The next day I kindly informed the people in the reception. They were looking at me without saying a word. Awkward to say the least. Maybe they didn't understand me.

The hotel is huge and the doorman was super polite. The hallways, rooms and restrooms are super outdated and worn down. The room had mismatched furniture that looked really old and dirty, like it was from the 90's. The carpet looked super old and dirty and the room was noisy. You could hear everything from the street; all the cars, honking, people talking, etc. They give you earplugs but everything sounds so clearly as if though the windows are opened. I checked, they weren't. The shower has an old shower curtain that made me feel super uneasy when I showered. And worst of all, this was the last night of my European trip so when I left to the airport I realized my passport was missing. During the check in process they kept my passport and didn't even return it when I checked out to go to the airport. Luckily I got a hold of the hotel from the airport and I had them send my passport with a cab driver. I had to pay $40 for that extra cab delivery but I barely made it to my flight. I ran to the gate and they were boarding.

We stayed for one night, but the impressions are pleasant. Friendly staff will help if you have any questions. The room is clean, spacious, one minus in the room was no bottled water. Everything else is fine

A short walk from the main train station in Budapest. Place was nice, clean and big enough for 2 travellers. Bed was comfortable and bathroom whilst not big was clean. Staff on reception friendly upon checking in and doorman always had a smile. Due to its convenient location to train station, would recommend if you are arriving by train. To get to tourists attractions, plenty of public transportation options available. We caught train, bus and trams to get around and back with no hassles.

Nice location if you want to be near Kelt station. It's giant old hotel that has seen better days. Get the breakfast online or it's 4x the price onsite. They didn't keep up with the coffee in the room. There was only one packet (two of us) that I used the first morning, which they never refilled. Plus, there were used sugar packets in with the tea and creamer...But very inexpensive

They took allthe towells but they didn’t get others. We were waiting for 45” in the midnight to bring them. They don’t say good morning at all and they don’t smile at all as all Hungarians

Definitely not 4 star quality. More like 2 stars. Everything screams 1980. The corridors smell of cigarettes even though they have “no smoking” signs on the room doors. Otherwise the staff is nice and helpful. The hotel however really needs a makeover and upgrading.

The rooms are awful. There is no ventilation, there are spiders, the window does not open, one bed is on wheels and the room is much smaller. For this price it should at least be breathable. Most things in the room don't work. There is no lamp, only night lights. The room needs an overhaul because they are from socialism and the situation is terrible.

This hotel is good location for tourists. Arena shopping mall is 700m far from the hotel. But the room of this hotel are looking like old room and not clean. Air-conditioning is old and not enough cool, we are so hot. Breakfast line has many kinds of food and drink. There are many many tourists from other countries

If you want to know in advance what hell will feel like, you can visit this hotel. It was among the most disgusting hotels I've ever been to and I've basically traveled the world and lost count of all the hotel visits I've made! The rooms like the corridors were the dustiest and smelled terrible of cigarettes. If you want asthma why not visit the hotel? If you want to have sleapness nights with lots of noise from cars and tunnels, go ahead and book the hotel. It says air conditioning on their website but no they don't open the air conditioning during the winter because it's too cold outside but so stuffy and hot inside the rooms that you could barely sleep a wink. Do yourselves a favor and don't visit this hell!

We stayed there for two nights in May 2019. Hotel is very good. Rooms are large and well equipped. Charges are very economical compared to other hotels. We were with 'Make My Trip' group from Delhi. We enjoyed our daily breakfast at their restaurant with lots of options freely available. I stayed at many good hotels around the globe but have never experienced such a good breakfast early in the morning, delicious and nutritious as well. Hotel staff are very helping in nature. Transport facility is wonderful. Best part staying here you will meet lots of travelers from the globe coming to Budapest as it's a famous place to stay. Tourist here are friendly and greet you smilingly. I met a Greek priest and his family who are very loving and friendly to us. Budapest is very beautiful city and we regret that we were with group hence couldn't stay for longer. Next time we will stay in this hotel at least for five days. I miss bodapest and this hotel very much. I wish this city and Hungary a safe time in this pandemic period.

The hotel is excellent. The meals were excellent and there were a large variation of choices. The staff were very helpful and polite. However, some of the rooms were a little dirty (I found ants in the towel) and they didn't keep their promise about the money guarantee. That left the students distraut because they could pay the fee that was needed other than that the hotel was superb and i highly recommend it!

I am disappointed because at 2:55 am, the fire alarm went off, and we had to rush down to the lobby until further notice. This was very disturbing because I was obviously very tired from traveling and couldn't sleep. The receptionist said that everyone would receive a 40% refund. However, my bank statement still shows the full amount. In the video i posted, It is literally 3am, all of us have been woken up by the alarms, some people came in their pajama outside. I never been so unlucky. For 1 night I booked it to sleep but I couldn't even do that.

I like this hotel, it has good facilities and lots of variety of breakfast foods. It is very warm and cosy and I like the traditional feel of hungry. Some parts of the hotel are noisy, but I was quickly moved to a new room.

I had a room from which I could hear everything from the main street, even the engine of the bus parked in front. Apart of this, in the room was pretty cold. After asking them 3 times and sleeping there for one night I received a different room that was better. Depends on the luck you have could be a pleasant experience or not.

This is a good hotel because it is very near to the train station and some 30 minutes away from the city centre. The rooms are clean and spacious the beds are very comfortable. However the furniture is a little old-fashioned but we did not mind that. The bathroom is also spacious and clean with the towels and all the toiletries. The room is cleaned every day. We had breakfast in the hotel and I can say it is excellent you can choose from various dishes such as eggs, sausages, different delicatessen, fresh bread and pastry, cheese, cereals, milk, tea, coffee, juices, fresh fruits and salads. All in all it a place where we would return.

There was practically no service. No cleaning of the floor carpet, dirt and dust on lamps, cups and spoons not washed. Coffee and tea refilled only after 2 days following a complain. Replaced towels were extremely worn out, with threads sticking out. There was no socket for the kettle, it had to be used on the floor. Shower head was leaking and not fitting to its holder. TV resolution is extremely low, pour choice of stations for foreigners.

Worst experience I've had in years. The rooms were not ready when we got there and we arrived 2 hours after the start of the check in. The hallways smell like piss. The noise from the street is unbearable, we woke up every hour due to the sound of ambulances and other cars. Everything in the rooms and bathrooms is old. AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!

One of the worst hotel I have met in my experience. Let me explain why: -Rooms are dirty and non renovated since Stalin. So old, cracks, dirty chests and carpet is included in many rooms. -Air conditioning is poorly working. So in hot weather, be ready to enjoy sauna in the rooms. And who knows when the last time the filters where changed there - Many rooms face to the Main Street and have not the best windows to isolate the noise. So be ready to have poor sleep and enjoy nightlife of the streets. - Don’t be surprised if you get “new” towels dirty or in someone’s blood, that’s as me and my friends found out is normal in Danubius hotel. - And if you get super lucky, you might even find an exclusive experience to get bitten by the bed bugs. - At night time, you can hear some wall drillings, and be surprised - on reception they don’t know and can’t find and do anything about it. They hear it too, but don’t know where it comes from. So guys really worry about client service…. Where else you can find, ofc here. Hotel have lots of excuses to everything mentioned above. And you can change room, but in the end most of problems written above you can find in any room. Somewhere more visible somewhere less. So if you are low on budget it’s your choice, otherwise I really don’t recommend that hotel and suggest to avoid. Better add some budget and get descent hotel nearby. Video is recorded at 12pm

I hated the fact that the room was not well cleaned and the was dust everywhere and, to add insult to injury, the cleaning lady put back on the rail a towel which I left on the bathroom floor because it was dirty when we checked in. The room was cramped and the window didn't close well. The bathroom was incredibly small and the hand soap dispenser didn't work. The room and the bathroom smelled bad. It is a three star hotel, not four! On the up side, the hotel is positioned quite well - near an important public transport junction. The breakfast was very good with a great variety of dishes to choose from. The breakfast seemed to belong to an upscale hotel...

The room is well equiped with everything you need for your staying: fridge, kettle, even a bottle of water, coffee , tea , cookies. Nice old style furniture, beautiful window curtains. Bathroom is very clean, good plumbing. However, Very old and badly worn carpet in room and in hallway spoils the entire impression. Please, change the shabby carpet!

We had a pleasant stay in this hotel. It's clean and well kept. Since we were here for stag I didn't partake in the morning breakfast. I have nothing negative to say. I would say it was hot in the 4th floor rooms but nothing a open window or turning radiators off wouldn't cure. The hotel is conveniently situated and you can walk into the city area. I would recommend going to a few cafes out there, which serves great dishes. I would however recommend the LIME scooters to travel around with. We covered more ground and it was fun.

I enjoyed the time spent at Danubius Hungaria. The rooms are clean and warm. The hotel is 3-500 m away from the Keleti railway station and metro. There are several options to eat or buy drinks in the neighborhood.

First of all, let me tell you that this hotel is pretty good. The rooms are nice, classy, the beds are very good and the breakfast is amazing. I would rate this hotel 5 stars but I won't, because this hotel is extremely noisy. This hotel is huge with a huge amount of guestrooms. All night I could hear people in the hallway, people outside, people above, machines outside. It was so noisy, it was hard to fall asleep. But the rest is amazing and the best breakfast I've ever seen.

  • 3/5 Kamil J. 4 months ago on Google
Cheap - you get what you pay for. Rooms - very old, AC ancient, room cleaning below satisfying. Not even bottle of water exchanged. Rooms facing the street - super noisy. Wifi unreliable and slow, disconnecting all the time. Hotel smells with cigarettes. Breakfast - although lot to choose from, untasteful ingredients: canned peaches, diluted sugary "juices". Nothing marked with labels - no info about allergens. The service at the front desk was accommodating and very helping, although super slow.

This was my second time visiting Danubius Hotel Hungaria and I have to say unfortunately this time I was a bit disappointed. The room (707) was not the cleanest, there was a very large stain on the carpet ( hoping it was maybe red wine and not blood!), the towels in the bathroom had spots of blood on and pubic hairs stuck to one of them. There was a very large stain over by the window where it seems the radiator we assumed had a massive leak and left a large brown stain. The bedside lamps were absolutely full of thick dust. The hotel is very busy and there were really large groups of teenagers at reception the times we walked through so.i understand the staff are very busy but we are not picky people and don't complain about silly little things, these were quite big cleaning problems. That said we found the staff helpful and polite, checking in and out was nice and easy and the bed was really comfortable we both had a good night's sleep. The room was pretty hot, we didn't seem to have any control over the heating despite it being switched to off on the control so slept with the window open which is fine if we wasn't overlooking the very busy flyover! Luckily we were pretty tired so.it didn't bother us too much but a point to think about if it would bother you. We considered having breakfast before heading home however on enquiring at reception to it being €20 per person we thought that was a bit expensive, I'm not sure we could eat €40 of breakfast between us!!! Overall an ok enough stay just the cleaning really really needs to be sorted out!!

The hotel is quite close to the central area and the price was good. The breakfast was ok. We received rooms on the 1st floor, with windows on the main street. The windows are inexistent, the cold came inside and you cold hear EVERYTHING on the street: people talking, buss stopping, cards, police, dogs barking. Ask immediately for room exchange if you receive those rooms!!! Even with earplugs, you will not be able to sleep and you will catch a cold! The furniture is very old, the bathroom wasn't very well maintained. Asked for a room exchange 2 times and the 3rd time was the lucky one, on my second day there. The new rooms received on 2nd floor, on the other side of the building, were warm and without any noise. If I would receive those from the start, my review would have been 7/10. But for the pain of not being able to sleep, the cold we suffered during the first night, the old and dirty rooms, this hotel gets a 1/10.

The rooms were terrible. The bathroom was old and dirty... There was a hair from another person there the whole time (asked to clean it)... From the elevator to the door of the room I counted 33 stains in the carpet... Even the spoon was sticky... Sticky!! The location was also terrible... Your basicly in the hoodz of Budapest and quite far from the actual city center. Do yourself a favor and book another hotel... It was horrible! (When we complained about things they could only give us another room, that was also disgusting... They didn't wanna help any other way)

The staff seemed a bit lost, maybe because of lack of understanding english. Furniture and bathrooms are rather old and could use a refurbishment The windows to the street need replacement - not enough insulation from the noise outside

More of a 3-star experience, instead of declared 4 stars. Needs a better cleaning - particularly windows and floor. Rooms need some refreshment. Breakfast is fine. In general, a fine experience but a bit pricey for what you get.

STOLEN LUGGAGE! I stayed at this hotel on April 20-23. On April 23, my luggage got stolen in front of my hotel room on the 6th floor. I was getting ready for check out and put my luggages (one cabin size and one middle size) in front of my room for max 5 min. And in that 5 min somebody took my middle size luggage and left the cabin size one. Hotel management didn’t even bother to check the security cameras telling that the security manager is not at the hotel on a Sunday! I called the police and they came to the hotel. But still no one checked the security cameras telling that this is the process. On the same day, after police’s involvement, an hour later I got informed that my luggage was at the police station, found in a park. I took my luggage and nothing was stolen, got back to the hotel and hotel didn’t know that Police found my luggage. I showed them the luggage telling that they have a security lack at the hotel and as a customer I am very frustrated with their attitude. The reception responded to me telling that “yes it was probably stolen”… Hotel management didn’t even bother to solve the problem by looking at the cameras. They didn’t even responded back to my stolen report and didnt inform me about what happened at the hotel with my luggage. The hotel has a security problem and their attitude is not acceptable at all. If I hadn’t involved the police, I am almost sure I wouldn’t find my luggage. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.

The location is amazing, right next to the Keleti train station, which is what we needed. 2 bus stops are right in front of the hotel. The bed was comfortable, the whole place was ok cleaned, considering that we paid 190€ for 2 people for a 3-night stay. Depending on which side of the hotel your room is, it will be noisy. We got the street side and you could hear the traffic, as the first floor was right next to the raised road. Regarding the cleaning, it could've been better with little effort. The fridge didn't work, so we told the people downstairs and they changed it by afternoon when we came back to the room, but it still didn't work. We just gave up and we put the food outside the window. The cups were not cleaned properly, from the previous people that stayed there. The glasses we used with coffee, they rinsed them just a bit with water and they placed them back, and they were clearly dirty. The second day, the cleaning person forgot a very dirty rag on the sink, and we didn't even touch it until we left, in hopes that someone will come to take it. As another reviewer said, they just replace the towels and take the trash, as the daily cleaning. The pictures posted are also real, they all look the same. There is shower gel and shampoo in big bottles, 2 shower caps, one tiny hand soap and one small sewing kit if you need. There's also a hairdryer but that small type that's fixed in the wall and after 2-3 min of using it, you need a break because the handle is too hot. For people with longer hair, I would suggest to bring your own if you stay many days. Note there is a bathtub, for people with reduced mobility. Also the bathroom has no ventilation, but the window from the room is huge.

Very great place! The staff was so helpful! Especially Nándor at the reception was very nice and helped us through some trouble we had at another hotel. The room was big and fully equipped with everything necessary and the breakfast was even better! Also, they have great goulash soup at the hotel restaurant. Furthermore they offer laundry service. This was so great for us, and the stay was within a very good price range. Would definitely go again!

For the price, it is a really good option. The rooms are nice and big, yes they look a bit old-ish, but personally I kinda liked that. The staff at the reception was polite and everything went smoothly. Location wise, it was perfect because it is right next to the Keleti Train station. The only downside I could mention is the Tv, which is old and was barely working, the image was distorted and it had only 20 channels or so. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and we will definitely come back.

This hotel provides a truly unique experience, with its avant-garde approach to hospitality. The broken windows add a touch of rustic charm, creating an open-concept ambiance that allows guests to feel closer to nature. The food, while challenging conventional tastes, offers an unforgettable adventure for the palate. As for cleanliness, it's a minimalist approach that encourages guests to appreciate the raw authenticity of the surroundings.

Truly a one of a kind experience. The rooms, cleaner than a bathed baby, where the towels have a strong smell of vinegar which makes sure that you feel squeaky clean after your bath/shower. A very pleasant atmosphere in which you can feel calm and relaxed, since the constant sirens from police cars and ambulances give a calming sensation to the mind. The food is exceptional, giving a chance to the most fearless adventurers to try new cuisines! Last but not least, the freedom you feel in this hotel is truly amazing, for example, you can choose from a plethora of drinks to accompany your dinner, like water!
