Stay away if possible. We arrived at 23:30. When we entered the room the impression was that it's a very cheap hotel with small rooms. No kettle, no iron, no flip-flops. The sheets and towels looked basic and worn out. The shower was a bit broken, so it was leaking. There were queues for the elevators within 15-30 minutes. Breakfast is also basic. I personally haven't enjoyed the food. Some of the stuff was weather so sweet or lacking flavor that even the most hungry mouse 🐁 wouldn't eat it. Hope I helped save others from staying here..

I was a bit scared of staying at this hotel after reading the reviews here, but it was a pleasant surprise. Sure, the hotel is old. But you get what you are paying for, and maybe even more. On the positive side: - the view is simply amazing, depending on which direction your room faces - the room is rather big - the bathtub is deep and works very well - the rooms are clean and don't smell - the access to the main tourist attractions is very easy. You can quickly get to city center and the main station by public transport - there's a bus and train stop right in front of the hotel On the negative side: - the air conditioning doesn't work very well and can get rather noisy - the elevators early in the morning can be a real struggle. I had to wait more than ten minutes in order to get one that was not completely full Anyway, I would stay at this hotel again.

It doesn't deserve 4 stars! - Room not clean. Shower gel, shampoo and soap pad. The light in the bathroom does not work. We were with a 3-year-old child, we couldn't even wash this child's hands! The fridge was broken Dirty bathroom! The front desk staff were rude to us and couldn't solve the problem. At 8am the cleaning ladies entered our room without permission! We asked for nappies and we received the nappies already used! The cleaning ladies were also rude to us. In the bathroom of room 402 the canal was log!

The window was broken and open all the time, there were only two elevators, but only one of them was working. The hotel is big and was crowded, we had to wait more than 30 minutes for the elevator every time we used it. We had to take the stairs with the bags and everything for 13 floors. It was old and kinda creepy. Anyone can get inside and actually some bags were stolen in the restaurant. It was crazy.

The hotel is not suitable for its purpose. You can't sleep in your room because the constant partying of students in the neighbouring rooms. The main profile of Hotel Budapest is to accommodate groups of students. These students gather in each other's rooms and basically party there as they have no money to party outside. I will never go back there. Waste of time. I had to find another hotel at night as I was unable to sleep.

Firstly, the rooms as well as the restaurant didnt have heating. We told the stuff about it but they didn't change anything. It was in all of the rooms since the whole group that we went with had the same problems. The food was good but not great. The hotel bar closes at 10pm and you can't order even a bottle of water after that time. In terms of stuff most of them were friendly. He had a huge problem with the elevator since it doesn't have a correct system to go to each floor in order and as a result can sometimes get you up and down without you teaching the top floors. There are stairs but the only ones that exist and are in use are the emergency ones. The view however was very good with each room having a separate point of view. Overall, would not recommend especially in the winter.

I I really appreciate the view I have from my room, but the room wasn't well maintained, sadly also there was bedbugs and at night time the constantly noise on the hallway and near rooms wasn't pleasant either, the hotel staff won't do anything to ease the noise. Breakfast I have to say it was delicious. The public transportation to get to mostly of the places around the city was just within few footsteps across the street from the hotel. And walking distance to the main bridges and to the castle. I'm not too sure if I'll stay there again on my next visit, mostly because of the bedbugs situation .

The most horrible stay I’ve ever stayed so far! The ac doesn’t work, the windows are broken, there was no drinking water in the room even.. stinky room, poor bar of soap in the bathroom nothing more.. I highly won’t recommend this hotel

Good choice if traveling on budget, or when going on a group, organised trip. Rooms are clean and spacious, good view, have own bathroom. In winter heating could be better. Great connection with downtown and city, bus station across the entrance. Staff is professional and friendly, food is average but tastes good.

2 lifts but 15 floors they gave both me and my friends the wrong keys, they said that rooms weren't ready for another group of people even though they booked their room months in advanve. The staff doesn't know english and the elevators skipped floors, dinner was really bad only one option of soup and one main dish which was cold and tasteless. Would not reccomend

We had a two night stay in the middle of April regarding the price it is great stay. You cannot find better for this price. Bad things: - Heating. With maximum heating on and outside temperature of 13° C we couldnt reach warm temperature of the room. It was okay but do not book this hotel during cold days. - Elevator. Two small elevators on 15 floors x 15 rooms per floor. Good things: - Cheap - Bus station is right in front of hotel and has direct bus to the city center (number 5 goes to Vaci utca) So/so: - Stuff depends from person to person - Breakfast is not magnific but you have couple of choices and it doesnt run off. Hope I helped!

HORRIBLE hotel!!! 1. they didnt give us a kettle and cups to drink - they said “we dont want anyone to start fire” 2. cards for entry broke few times 3. wifi is very bad, so we had to buy sim cards 4. breakfast is horrible (cheap sausages, too salty impossible to eat) 5. Broken beds 6. dirty rooms 7. cleaning service doesnt clean everyday On first day we had to change bed sheets even though they told us they r clean but they werent. plugs didnt work with wifi at all! and the bed was broken! we asked them when its gonna work? about wifi they said its not our problem, its wifi companys problem. about plugs they said our electrician is coming (whole day non of the plugs worked in the rooms). about beds they promised to change it on that day but they didnt change it!

My experience at Hotel Budapest was nothing short of a disaster. The non-functional elevator, disappointing breakfast, and woeful state of the rooms made for an extremely unpleasant stay. I would strongly advise against choosing this hotel if you value comfort, cleanliness, and a pleasant overall experience.

I have only been in the public area of this hotel. It was dark wood and seemed slightly austere, probably showing the time it was built. There was a small bar and some comfortable seats. Bathroom was clean but I couldn't get the hand drier to work. Pictures of the rooms I have seen look quite nice and the views are mainly of the parkland and surrounding residential area. The location is into the more residential side if Buda and needs planning if walking or taking public transport.

Good location. Hotel looks like used by lots of coaches as parking area at front of hotel. Arrived at 2330. Checked into hotel and they take passport to scan. Made sure I got it back before going up to room. A fifteen storey hotel with 2 elevators at peak times will be busy. I stayed in room 1411. Room was fairly clean however floor looked like it hadn’t been swept. The bed sheets didn’t cover whole length of bed. There is air con which cooled the room luckily. The fridge leaked water. The shower was cracked and water came out the head and side of the shower rose. Water was hot. Bathroom was clean however towels rough and old. Breakfast starts at 0700. Mix of basic hot food, breads meat and cheese and salad. Cereals and yogurt. Juice from a dispenser which wasn’t nice and coffee machines that made awful coffee. For not enjoyable at all. When opened at 0700 lots of people outside and a rush to food and tables. Tables not cleared very quickly and staff looked miserable and unhappy. Elevators around breakfast time are busy and can lead to a wait. If leaving early best to bring luggage down going to breakfast and check out. ATM on site but Euronet with high charges. Only dispensed forints and euros were declined. If staying for longer would choose better hotel nearer the central city area. Slept perfectly though. That’s the only bonus

Decent hotel but it has many flaws. It has 15 floors but only two elevators, in the morning you need to wait tons of time and at the end you just walk 10 floors by stairs. Beds are comfortable but room design is not the best: for example there is only one electric socket on the desk but not near the bed. Food at restaurant is horrible. Good things: reception 24/7, nice personnel

  • 3/5 Dora K. 7 months ago on Google
Rooms are dated (just like the rest of this hotel) and not maintained - a lot of dust. The fridge doesn't work and the windows do not have handles on them. There was a storm and I didn't know how to close them so a young man at the reception gave me a spoon to close them with it. I wish it was a joke. But he was friendly and helpful. Food is decent, nothing special but breakfast is a mess. Too many people, not enough servers so you don't have many options when it comes to food. Servers in general seem unbothered by the lack of food and cutlery. I didn't see cleaning personnel once ( We've been there for three days now).

spent a night here, first time staying at a hotel on my own. i found it to be really cozy and comfortable. the price was fair, and i felt safe in there. the bed was extremely comfortable - more so than the one i have at home. the place is old, though. the furniture is a little worn out here and there but everything works just fine. the bathroom was really clean. the receptionists were kind and helpful. it's not a luxury hotel, but it's clean and nice. there's free wifi, however i could not connect to it. that was a bummer. i had the password - it's hotelbudapest, but the wifi kept kicking me out, it was a pretty weak signal. ended up using data during my stay. that's the only negative thing i can say, really. actually, one more thing that bothered me is that the light in my room's bathroom needed to be fixed because every time i turned it on, it flashed a few times before fully turning on. i'm not epilectic, but it sure as hell made me disoriented. the view is also beautiful.

I can’t recommend this hotel. The air conditioning doesn't work, the rooms were cleaned only 1x within a week and getting a cold beer is as likely as getting fresh bath towels, impossible.

  • 1/5 melissa d. 10 months ago on Google
The hotel itself looks nice from the outside, however it is terrible. To start off, the small number of lifts (2) and the amount of floors (15) makes them inaccessible (for a longer period of time) when a bigger group is in the hotel. The cards that access the rooms, have a 50/50 chance of working, so don't bet on them to work the first time (and sometimes they work only after the millionth time). The service took forever, and the dish was cold and slightly undercooked. Never returning.

Breakfast was quite good, sausages, ham, cheese, sweet bread with poppy seeds and milk, coffee etc. Rooms were fine, however they could've been more heated. Location is good, quiet, there are nearby supermarkets. The bus stop is in front of hotel, and you can get to the city centre by bus in 10 minutes. Hotel has a parking.

  • 1/5 Aleksandra S. 1 year ago on Google
The room was not cleaned well, the towels were old and torn, the wifi signal was very weak, the staff at the breakfast restaurant were very unfriendly, I couldn't have breakfast early and I wanted to get three sandwiches for me and my partner as we were leaving, I wasn't allowed, very it's a bad policy of the management that the guests leave unsatisfied, I don't recommend it even for 1 night☹️

  • 1/5 Constantin R. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel does not provide heat in the rooms, everywhere smells of cooked food, the ceiling of the elevator is tied with metal wire. The furniture is around 40 years old.

Good for one-night stay. The bed is comfortable, the rooms are clean, the staff are nice and the place is dog-friendly. Price/quality ratio is good. There were some details like the plig-ins are in the opposite side of the room, instead of next to the bed, and the main lamp in our room wasn't working, but there were 3 others, smaller desk-lamps, so we had enough light. On the other hand, the hotel is in one of the very good neighborhoods of Budapest and there are good connections with the center if you don't want to walk. I recommend it if you are not looking for something luxury.

Old hotel.Looks like hotel Turist from USSR. Staff have very bad English. I order a room with 1 big bed but i recieve with 2 small. On this i got a proposition that i should move beds by my self. On my question "Why you didn't tell me by the Booking message that you don't have room which I order? " I got answer "Beacuse I have no time.", After question "Why you didn't tell me it on reception before I pay ?" Answer "You was registrated by other person I have no time for you"

After waiting a while in line, finally got our room. It was not what we reserved (two twin beds instead of a double bed), and it had clearly never been cleaned since the last guests left (sheets still looked like they’d been slept in, garbage visible). After about 2.5 hours (since first arriving) finally got the correct room. While we waited at the bar, the bartender’s credit card reader stopped working. Which means no drinks to pass the time. Day one in the room: main light fixture didn’t work, tv didn’t turn on, and refrigerator didn’t work either. At least the air conditioning worked (kind of) because we were only there to escape the heat outside. Day two: wake up to find the ac had stopped working. My fiancé went downstairs and told them at 7:40am. I waited in the lobby (being told every hour, it will be ready in another hour..) until 11:30am. They fixed the ac they told me (completely ignored the fact the tv and refrigerator didn’t work). Not once did they offer another room. Not once did they care about the tv or refrigerator. Even the towel hanger fell off the wall… This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Booked an AirBnB and left within 24 hours of first arriving, just to get out of this terrible place.

The service here is pretty great. I happened to be here for a mixture of pleasure and work and whenever I needed something from the staff, it was never a problem. The location of this hotel is decent; if you’re into public transport, there’s a tram across the street that took us, basically, wherever we wanted or were hoping to go! The only issue I had with this hotel was the air conditioning. I did not want to drop a place by a full star, I wish google did half stars but when I was here, it was nearly 40 degrees Celsius and was up to 42 at one point. Granted, we were outside most of the time but in coming back, the only thing that saved us was cold water showers and the fan. Otherwise, good place!

Hotel is good based on the price however the heater seems has problems. The staffs were friendly. Electricity seems a major issue here as I had to face no electricity in my room multiple time for 20 to 25 minutes. Wifi in the evening is very slow and weak. The hotel is just beside a bus and tram station so very easily accessible.

My fave hotel in BP! Everything was great staying in this hotel!

  • 3/5 Wing Ching L. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel design was unique and classic in the 80s, sadly the interior was not well maintained. Looks old in general, metal cover door lock bents outward. Fortunately the room was clean during the stay, heater functioned well, instant hot shower available. Overall staff was helpful and nice, except one of the staff in night shift, was rude when I told him my fridge door hinge broken and the fridge door could not close properly, then he asked me repeatedly “is your fridge flooding”, told me they will send someone to fix it the next day, still it was not working when I check out. Don't expect too much for the breakfast, one day there was even no tea bag available. Also, the lift was a problem. You won't be able to take the lift during group check out on weekend, I waited for 5 min, gave up and found many customers using the stairs. Must be a good choice to keep fit, but not a good idea of you have lots of baggage or elderly members. During my stay, I was trapped in the lift once, tried to press the alarm when the lift was out of order, and it DID'T work...so SCARY... Understand the price is one of the most attractive point, good choice for budget trips anyway

  • 4/5 Stephen M. 1 year ago on Google
Iconic soviet hotel that has seen better days. The idiosyncrasies of the time, an example the bizarre logic of the lifts, then its worth a stay. The bed and bathroom is clean, but I've ommitted the rest. The window opens outwards, which compensates for the poor aircon. I would not miss this off my list, but hurry before it gets pulled down.

Not that bad, but there are couple of things you need to know. Therw are 14 floors, with two elevators working in very strange way. Once they come, they are traveling fast. Rooms are old. I only got one towel. Breakfast is usual, eggs, sausages, hot dogs, ham, cheese, jams, butter, bread. Really nothing special. Coffiee from machine is the most horrible thing I ever tried

  • 2/5 Raven 1 year ago on Google
It's ok and fairly cheap. My main issue is the terrible customer experience given how crowded it always is. The hotel usually has a several hundred guests and just two functioning elevators. So often you have to wait 15-20 minutes to use the elevator. Breakfast is similarly chaotic with the same guests being pushed into a room fit for 70 people.

Worst hotel in my life. I’m sorry, but it’s not even 3*, but 2* with big “-“. All started from reception, where staff were rude with guests (not me luckily), even aggressive. Air conditioning in a room doesn’t work properly. They are not using mattress pad !! It’s disgusting. On top of that - they don’t have a normal sheets, they are using two small bed sized sheets for twin sized bed. You can see it in the pic. So I’m a morning you are waking up basically on that disgusting mattress. Cleaning staff coming into the room without any questions, even when I wasn’t alone and almost naked. They just do not care and continue to do their staff. Room wasn’t cleaning for two days. When I asked clean towels, they didn’t have it and gave me 2 towels for the bath floor. Breakfast wasn’t good. After (2nd day) I felt sand on my teeth I didn’t go there anymore. Do not stay here. if you are looking for a cheap place, there are many more options. I have made a bad choice.
