Apart from location, we felt let down. The hotel is dated, the room should be refurbished. The bathroom smelled. The furniture was of very bad quality. Towels were stained. Room was not systematically done. The pool was closed. The breakfast was below average. Such a beautiful city, one want to stay in a decent place, which is clearly not there.

Very sorry very disappointed. On the first day there was no hot water in the shower and we did not receive a response. The level of food in the dining room is on the lowest level. There is an indoor pool and a sauna in the hotel that were closed I don't exactly understand why when I paid for it. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend friends and family to stay at a hotel that respects its guests.

My stay at Hotel President in Budapest was nothing short of exceptional. The room was a delightful blend of comfort and luxury, offering a spacious layout with tasteful decor and all the modern amenities one could ask for. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after long days exploring the city. One of the highlights of Hotel President is undoubtedly its rooftop terrace, which offers panoramic views of Budapest, including the iconic Parliament building and the Danube River. It was the perfect place to unwind with a drink after a busy day. The hotel's location is another major plus. Situated in the heart of the city, it's just a short walk from major attractions like St. Stephen's Basilica and Andrassy Avenue, as well as numerous restaurants and cafes.

It's OK, not great and certainly not worthy of 4 stars. Location good. The room was simple but comfortable. The bathroom, not so much. The bath plug did not stop water draining out and the plug in the sink did not work at all. So not possible to fill the sink basin. Also the tap in the sink is so far over the basin that it impossible to rinse your face. The glass shower barrier does not stop shower water going all over the bathroom floor. When we complained, the receptionist said that the maintainence team were on leave for the holiday and they could do nothing. The next morning, they said a man had come in the morning when we were at breakfast but they did not think to call us or contact us. So..were the maintenance team off or not?? Eventually they offered us the room next door and we'd have to move our own stuff. When we explored the room next door, it had exactly the same problems in the bathroom as we already had. We decided to stay where we were. This was our first time in Budapest. We will not stay here againwhen we return. The hotel is dated and in need of serious refurbishment. The staff (and management?) have an attitude of well we are sorry about the problems you had but we hope to see you again . ERR.....no. Fix your hotel and respond in a real way to your guests' complaints. Your attitude lacks authenticity. You say the words, but do not walk the walk. Won't ever stay here again.

Very good location and very good breakfast. Apart from these two good aspects, the room had insufficient ventilation, was not very carefully maintained, the noise from the corridors (second building) was disturbing and last but not least the cards were de-activated half hour before the checkout on 11, leaving us stranded outside the room until figuring out what happened. Front desk couldn't explain why this happened.

The room was small and we had two twin beds close to each other, once we booked a room with a double bed. The cleanliness of the room wasn't good at all, it was dirty and there was a lot of dust, this caused me allergy and I was sneezing so much for this. The room is located inside a indoor court, so there is no privacy, as of if you try to open the window, everyone who walk on the corridor can see you, and you cannot refresh the air in the room!!!! There was always a bad smell!!! The Ac in the room, even if it was off, it was making noise all the night. The bathroom was sooo small, the shower was leaking and the shower door was not closing properly. This was really bad room experience. The breakfast was quite good, but even here they forgot to clean properly; on the lights (which were on the food) there were spider web everywhere....and from the inlet air which were on the breakfast tables, was completely full of grey dust. Once we checked out, the receptionist asked how was our stay and we answered "more or less", she did not even listen to us, and she ignore, without asking what went wrong. I can only think that they did not care about guest... Very very disappointing hotel. They do not deserve 4 star.

TL;DR - Shabby room, rude staff, spa out of action. When we arrived the bathroom door would not close, and the room was in poor condition. There was a lot of damage to the furniture, the walls, and the fridge had not been cleaned. We complained and were told that we could switch rooms to a smaller room that was not equivalent to what we'd booked, or to pay to upgrade to a bigger room. The next day we complained again, hoping to get a more constructive reply. This time we at least received an apology, and were told that we would be offered another room if they couldn't fix the bathroom door. In the following 3 days nothing was done about the door or offering us a new room. When we checked out of the hotel we said we had not been happy with the service, and the front of house staff member was quite rude, saying that it was our fault for not following up. When you are paying to stay in a hotel the minimum you expect is to be able to close the door and use your facilities in private. It was not acceptable to be told that we should have complained for a third time, having already complained twice. In addition to this the hotel spa was also not satisfactory. The pool was closed because it was broken, I understand that this happens sometimes, but that doesn't explain why the sauna was always switched off. A big reason why we chose to stay at the President Hotel was to use the spa, but we were unable to because the staff just didn't turn on the facilities. When I went into the spa itself to ask about this, there were no staff anywhere to be seen. The toilets on this level were also out of action. This was an incredibly disappointing stay that fell well below my expectations. We were not able to use the facilities as advertised, our room was in poor condition with very limited privacy and a broken door, and worst of all the staff were rude, unhelpful and inhospitable during our stay, especially at the front desk.

A lovely experience at Hotel President. For North American travellers, be aware that most hotel rooms in Budapest are very small. Highlights: Superb wifi if you are planning to do some work. Nice little spa and sauna downstairs. The breakfast had a lovely selection of healthy choices. Plus those mini pastries that everyone loves! The staff were very helpful with all requests. I will be back.

This is by far not a 4* hotel. On arrival we were given a room no bigger than the size of a shoebox with no working AC or external window, despite a booking a superior double room. After complaining, we moved into a slightly larger room with external windows, however only one opened and blinds were broken. We then complained again and was moved into a third room with two windows again but only one opened and we gave up at this point as the receptionist was losing her patience with us. We then discovered that the hotel switch off the AC in the winter months (however we are now in May and the day of arrival it was 22 degrees) but the staff didn't seem bothered. On the evening of arrival, we phoned reception to borrow an iron but was told the hotel doesn't own an iron and the receptionist was very rude and put the phone down on us. The next day we asked for an iron again by a different receptionist who sorted it for us within the hour. The first one clearly couldn't be bothered. We were also extremely disappointed to discover the rooftop terrace was closed for maintenence for the first two weeks of May which we were never informed of prior to booking and half the reason we choose this hotel to stay. Also the pool and sauna was out of service which is misleading on the hotels website. Well done on the angles for the gym photos as in reality it is ridiculously tiny. Lastly, breakfast was barely edible. Food was cold and bland. The only saving grace for this hotel was the location. Save your money and book a hostel.

This Hotel is close to the attractions and also close to transport hubs. My room was for solo use and could not have been much smaller, probably the smallest room I've stayed in. (see photos) well cleaned daily. There are plenty of positives in particular the receptionist Renata, nothing was too much trouble she is definitely an asset to the Hotel. Breakfast is really good with plenty of choice. It was disappointing that the pool was closed although the Webb site did not say so. The spa was open. The Hotel is good value for the money and I would recommend.

Don't be foold by the pictures. Terrible old rooms with stained carpets. No maintenance on duty. The pool was shut down. The A/C was weak and making noise at night and never got fixed. Nice helpful receptionists.See my pictures.

We bought a voucher for 2nights stay at Hotel President. It was presented as a wellness stay in Budapest. The location is very good in very hearth of Pest part of the city just few steps from St. Stephens Basilica. The first impression is awesome, reception is just wonderful and receptionist was very nice. Then it was a bit problem to find our room (I think it might be a good idea to improve navigation inside of the hotel) but the cleaning lady helped us to find an elevator and then she made sure we will make it to our room. Wellness is again marked very poorly but there was nobody at the reception. No way how to get to keys from lockers even how and where to take sheets/blanket for SPA. I also went to a main reception but lady wasn't able to help me. At least there were some paper cups for water which was luckily also available. Next day I had to head back to our room to take cups from there because nothing left there. Then there comes another disappointment as the pool was empty, whir-pool out of order and only one sauna was working - so this was our experience of their SPA center In general rooms are very small but comfy, only with one detail that we were missing small pillows which we actually asked for but there were not delivered during whole day. I found our blankets with several stains, which is not a big issue, but probably shouldn't happen in 4* hotel. The bathroom was nice and clean but a bit humid, I think of better ventilation if there was any at all. Breakfast were just good standard , there is nothing to blame. Hotel offers also a rooftop bar/restaurant which we tried but we took only a welcome drink and then head to the city. The potential is great, view is amazing but the place as such didn't impress us that much, in fact we didn't feel very comfy there. To conclude, we really enjoyed our stay in Budapest, but next time we would rather choose a different hotel or maybe a combination of Airbnb and good wellness center :)

Fantastic hotel in a great position to visiting to sights in Downtown Budapest (Pest side) We asked to change rooms due to mobility issues ( shower was over the bath) this wasn't a problem and our 2nd room was more modern with a shower cubicle. Staff very friendly & helpful. There is a small a gym, small spa with sauna jacuzzi & swimming pool ( pool was out of action when we visited) Fantastic rooftop terrace where we had cocktails & dinner, the views from here are amazing.

My room was tiny - single bed against the wall, and the window handle had been removed, making it impossible to get fresh air in there. However, the shower was nice, the location is good for the centre of town, and the terrage bar has amazing views (and the venison burger is amazing). Also good to note is the lack of hotel parking. On-street parking is limited to 3 hours max, between 8am and 10pm.

  • 1/5 kokkoko1984 9 months ago on Google
My honest feedback: Tiny room, not well designed. Window looking to the internal corridor, although there is an AC in the room, there is no fresh air. I found the room quite dark and disappointing, the illumination could be much betterly distributed. If you open the window’s curtain, you would be seen by everyone who is entering his room. Some of the Gym facilities are out of order and so is the swimming pool. Breakfast is average but okay. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you look for an enjoyable stay.

Good hotel, centrally located. Good buffet breakfast (although at -1 floor). Nice to have a coffee machine (4 capsules included) in the room. The place. The room was clean and modern (at least building B where I was accommodated. There is also a spa. On request for a late check-out was given an extra hour that was much appreciated. 👍

This is an excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very high standard, clean and comfortable. The breakfast offers a very wide variety of foods to suit everyone. I would definitely book here again 👍

Beautiful reception foyer. Great breakfast selection. Good location for the river and parliament. Rooms are clean and well furnished. Disappointed that 'complementary' coffee and water was not replenished after first night. Tried to get a late checkout or use an 'office' room for a business call but cost was significantly more than I would expect and the business lounge at the airport was cheaper.

Great hotel. Room was a little small but has everything you need. Very clean. The shower in our room was soo powerful I ended up nearly flooding the bathroom but I do love a powerful shower.

The hotel is located in a very good location. The room is clean and the facility is great. But the receptionist who has blond hair and a bit chubby is quite rude, impolite and unhelpful. Honestly, I think she should be shifted the the back office.

If I could give this hotel a 3.5/5 I would. There's nothing inherently wrong with it - our room appeared clean, it wasn't noisy or in a bad area - but it certainly doesn't deserve a 4 star rating. The hotel is clearly outdated, at one point it might have been really nice but that was at least 10-15 years ago and now it's just a lower middle range hotel pretending to be nice - weird decor in the lobby, strange pictures in the hallways, a basic breakfast in the basement. If we had been staying in Budapest longer we probably would have checked out early and stayed somewhere else (there are several other hotels nearby with similar cost and better product) but it was a fine place to lay your head for the night for a few days. Overall I don't have anything bad to say about the staff or the service we received but I think seeing "4 star hotel" is extremely misleading and could lead to disappointment and should be acknowledged.

This is 4* hotel? Unbelievable.. One thing in this hotel positive was good breakfast, nothing else. We came at 15:00 on check in , reception told me that they dont have prepare own room, okey we was waiting on reception 20-30min , then I asked again , they told me sorry we dont know wht is happening , we was waiting more like 1,5 hour for accomodation.. I understand sometimes its happening this things, but we were not just one ! Lots of people was waitng and day after we saw people who was waiting more like one hour on accomodation. Really bad system in this hotel. Never again. About room..bed smell in bathroom any fresh air in room from outside just climate air, rotten door frame, and mold in shower.. I paid for this.. so thank you 🙃🙏

Great location. Breakfast is so so. Nothing special. Our room was large and clean but the bathroom sink stank! We told the hotel and it was better for an hour or so. Then the smell came back.

My family and I stayed here for 5 nights and overall we really enjoyed it. The hotel was very central and everything we wanted to do and see and eat was within a 45 minute walk which was great cuz we love to walk over public transport. The room was huge, the beds were comfortable and the shower was great. (My wife wanted a bath but I forgot to ask lol) there was a safe and mini fridge with a selection of drinks and snacks, but also enough room to buy your own from the shop round the corner. (Shout out Bian Market!) The breakfast was amazing all you would expect from a 4 star hotel continental meats/pastrys/yogurt/fruit etc and hot breakfast eggs, bacon, mushroom tomatoes etc and a mini pancake machine that my son loved. The rooftop bar has some amazing views and the bar is inside a big heated bubble and seating with blankets outside aswell. Only a couple disappointments I feel I should mention for families booking. One being that there was no mention that the pool was closed on the website and this was a reason I had booked the hotel as my son is 11, so check before you book! But the jacuzzi, plunge pool and saunas were working so we still loved it. The second was the TV, the only English speaking channels were sky news, BBC and CNN. (English channels were advertised but I expected more than the news) they had Nickelodeon which I love but it was mostly SpongeBob and comedy Central in the evenings which was in German! Lucky the WiFi worked great. Overall the location, price and room were great but the hotel feels very dated, could definitely do with some love and care and a coat of paint but the staff were awesome and very helpful. I'm sure it was a 4 star 20 years ago but not at the moment! 3.5/5

Great location & breakfast was fabulous. The room was lacking, especially for a superior - thankfully, we got moved when we complained. The swimming pool was emptied of water & out of order whilst we were there; with no notice of this given.

The service breakfast, location & people are a 5 excellent!! Heat in the room that can not be controlled and no ability to open window -1 - it is like living in a sauna. I am melting with sweat in december. Can't imagine warmer months. Spring for a balcony room might make the difference.

It is desperate. A nice setting, a wonderful façade, a unique rooftop, quite nice rooms, one of the very best areas in central Pest... And such a lousy approach of hotel management. Three nights with my parents in your hotel. My room was big but had a totally runout of control air conditioning. Noise all night. After complaint the front desk claim it was solved. That I had a quiet and silent room. Nothing was more untrue. I complainted again. Had to change room. In a deserted aisle of the hotel. Silent. But with no showerhead. Complainted again. Had a showerhead. But no water came out of it. Regarding my parents room it was even worse. Aged 83 and 84 they had the room on the 5th floor next to the elevator leading to the beautiful rooftop. And the crowd waiting to go up or leaving the nice rooftop after a couple of drinks...on a Friday night... Not the best way to relax and go to sleep early. They were offered another room. Without windows. Ask for another. Got another room. Very nice on the first floor. With a view. But without electricity on the second evening. For two days... Impossible to repair... Four stars, really?

We were 5 person i 3 dobbelt room. I ordered the rooms 19. February 2021. We have booked the rooms for 9 days. 25 July to 3 august. When we arrived, the front desk informed us that the pool and spa vere closed. We those this hotel because of the spa and pool. The told us that we could see the information on there webside that the spa and pool was closed. We couldn't find the information on the website. Then they told us that they had informed us by mail. They hadn't. We got a voucher Huf 20.000 for food and drinks on the rooftop. We booked a day on the rooftop but when we arrived at the rooftop, they were closed. We were not informed that our reservation was cancelled. They told us that they have called us. But they haven't. We then decide to leave the hotel the day after. We couldn't get a refund because we hadn't book our stay direct at the hotel but though an agent. We couldn't use our voucher because the hotel had cancelled our reservation. We are feeling very unjustified. This is not how a 4 star hotel should be threatening there costumers. We won't be recommending this hotel to anyone. As I said before. We are very disappointed.

We had a lovely two nights at the hotel. There was one concern, my friend hurt his head a bit on the corner of the TV. TV seems to be very near the bed. Anyway variety of the food for breakfast was wide( hot and cold), it was delicious. On the hotel's rooftop terrace , have nice selection of alcoholic drinks with nearly 360 magical view.

What a delightful hotel to be on your holidays. It is elegant, traditional rooms, beautiful breakfast, and lovely location. I don't think I can find anything negative to say in regards to this place. The team members are stars and they know how to provide world-class service. I must say the breakfast was WOW, plenty of varieties for you to choose from. I can't comment on the bar as I didn't have any drinks there during my stay.

I booked a standard room based on the pictures which were available online and this was never given to me. The first room that the receptionists gave me was very small. I requested to move to the room that I had paid for. The second room was dirty, full of dust and had damaged walls. It was disgusting. The room had only one window at the inner-courtyard so there was no view, no fresh air and no daylight. Not to mention the decoration of the room... I tried twice to get the quality room that I had paid for but with no result. The excuse that receptionists used was that I could not transfer to another room during the evening; however they would arrange the transfer next morning. That never happened though, as I was never shown an alternative room. The breakfast was horrible and it was served in a room like a cave with no windows. There was no porter or any other staff to assist with the luggage. The receptionists were very rude and not efficient at all. During my stay I complained to the guest relation manager by email and she suggested that in the future I should book a superior room, a junior suit or a suit in order to get a room with modern conditions and daylight. She also admitted that they are currently renovating their older rooms, like the one I was gave. I insisted for a refund however that was not accepted. They pretended that it was very important to them to have satisfied guests. They also said they were really sorry that their services could not meet guests’ expectations but in reality they are cheating their clients. This hotel is a tourist trap.

Dining room (breakfast) located in the basement, therefore there was no daylight and the air ventilation was terrible. Food was below average for a 4* hotel. The room was facing the atrium, so there was dark inside all the time. However, the location is great - 10 minutes walk to the centre and the view from the terrace on top floor is great.

Nice hotel with lovely staff. Room is cold at night but we've been told that because of the electricity hike they have to minimize the use. Also I've been looking forward to use the pool and jacuzzi but it was out of order throughout my 5 days stay. Nice view at the rooftop though.
