I arrived here for what was supposed to be 3 nights. I loved it so much I stayed almost 1 week. The energy is calm, peaceful, safe and very loving. Everyone at the hostel wants to help in anyway they can whether that’s the owner - who is an exceptional guy - the staff, the volunteers or even the guests. It is a unique sanctuary in the middle of a busy city. Thank you for the most beautiful experience.

I picked up this place to stay on vacation based on such good reviews I read - but my experience was not the same sadly. The hostel Is super super clean, that’s for sure. But the staff was not so nice, the girls didn’t know anything about the city to recommend, and the shared bedroom was extremely small, beds almost touching each other and for a woman sharing a room with mix genders it’s a big deal. Besides that the hostel is pretty cute and the kitchen have everything you will need to cook. Also the location was not practical at all, the area is not so nice to walked and you find yourself force to do it since is not even close from city center. Was not a bad experience but not as amazing as the reviews I read :/

We spent 4 days at Shantee house. The rooms were basic but very comfortable. There are plants literally in every room of the house as well as always and stairways. This hostile also includes a great many outdoor plantings of flowers and fruit trees. The backyard is a wonderful oasis with a picnic area both at a standard table and on a raised platform with a Persian rug and miniature table surrounded by cushions and hammocks. There's even a yurt in the backyard as well as a small library where you can exchange books. There's a large and well appointed kitchen as well as a comfortable living room and front office. Some of the appointments have seen better days, but overall the live plants and colorful decorations make you feel very festive and comfortable. Attila is a great dog lover and even dug out one of his dogs beds for my service dog to sleep on while we stayed. He helped us with directions to nearby attractions as well as public transportation information. The overall vibe of the hostile is mellow and friendly, but it's definitely not a place to go if you're looking for a party hostel. This is a place for travelers that are looking for an oasis a little out of the city center. It's a place to retreat from the rigors of travel and embark on new adventures refreshed and ready to go.

Hello , here is my story. called in advance a few days in order to clarify the details of settling in the hotel, I was told that the administration works from 9:00 to 21:00 and check-in is possible from 9:00 to 21:00. I planned my trip because I needed to park my car on a weekday, and I was told that they have free parking, but I doubted thats why I've decided to come and see the location and parking and after that decide on bookin. I rode my car for 5 hours , arrived, and when I called this administrator (man) he did not pick up the phone either on WhatsApp or on the mobile network, and he wasn't online, time was 18-25 at the moment. I came to ring the door, and after ringing for 5 min, some guests came and gave me another administrator number (woman) and she also didn't pick up the phone either on WhatsApp or on the mobile network, I waited there for 20 min, and called them together maybe 10 times, as the result I left and had to pay for parking my car all this time of waiting. And even after this administrator (man) became online after few years he didn't reply to me and didn't call me, until I didn't decide to call one more time to ask what is wrong with situation, he told that was in school and offered for me to come tomorrow and check in. So its crazy level of service, it would be great if I already paid by card and still couldnt check in

Very nice and chill hostel. Everyone is very friendly. The beds here are some of the comfiest I've slept in at a hostel.

I have traveled all over the world and stayed at many hostels and can easily say this is the best hostel! I've stayed there many times over the years usually on my way to Ozora festival. The hostel has a chill atmosphere, is beautifully decorated, clean and well taken care of, has cozy spaces with hammocks and gazebo in the garden, a cool yurt (that you can book as your accommodation) and functional kitchen. Shantee House has a very spiritual style which usually attracts the right kind of people (although sometimes young drunkheads show up but that's not the fault of the hostel). This hostel is also a good place to meet new people in a relaxing way. I wish every hostel was like this. This is the kind of place you want to stay at. Why aren't more hostels like this? ✨🕉️

A laid back hostel not in center of all the noise, but well worth it, the vibe is super friendly and connecting i felt welcomed, the staff is superb, and the people are open to connect with each other, highly recommend The beds are super comfortable for a hostel.

horrible work/stay experience unfair management after not being able to complete a "trial week" theyre giving 24 hours to find new accommodations for a place that is called shantee house, the owners and management do not reflect the vibe at all

Brilliant hostel. Easy to get into the centre by walking or tram. Lovely people work there. Felt very much like a home away from home.

Cozy place with a very homely vibe. Never felt this much at home at any other hostel before. The staffs were really friendly and the place was well maintained and clean. They have a kitchen as well where you can bring your own food and cook. Please note, the check-in time is latest till 22:00. In case of any issue, it was easy to reach out the staff either through phone or whatsapp.

I booked a bed on its website, I never got the confirmation. I didn't book another place because I would have to pay the nights if the reservation is made. I've been sending them emails the last days, I called them like 20 times, I texted them on whatsapp..THEY WON'T ANSWER calls, mails or texts. I don't have a place to stay tonight and now all the places are very very expensive. Now I have to pay a lot for a new booking. It's my first time in Budapest and they ruined my experience and the days before because I've been very worried about this. DON'T BOOK on THEIR WEBSITE, they aren't serious or professional.

Very friendly staff. Homey and quiet. Also very affordable.

5 stars because they care. Its the little things like an extra pillow, no cost for the towel and a shower which works and isnt cramped. XO XO Shantee House.

My first hostel experience in my life, and im so satisfied! 😍 Okay, me and a friend of mine had to book a hostel since we were a little late with ordering a hotel and the prices were sky rocket.. but then we found this place, it looked nice, had good reviews, and was affordable for most people! And gosh damit im happy that we ended up here. The first thing that hit me was the architecture and the design witch was an experience it self! The woman who worked there was so cosy, friendly and welcoming, I wish I could remember her name, but she told us the story bout the place (amazing story) and was interested to learn about us and where we were from! we slept at the "Dolphin" room and shared it with 2 other strangers, and I loved to talk to the other people at the hostel, they all were nice and respectful. Especially one with the name Roger that shared room with us, they were quiet, respectful with space and had some really intresting storytelling to share! The hostell had a kitchen with fridge and cutlery, multiple bathrooms on each floor and an amazing atmosphere to chill and enjoy some peac! Would highly recommend!

2 mins walk from a bus route, 5 mins from a tram. Clean, with comfy beds, and so chilled. Never stayed in such a friendly hostel with a unique vibe. Bikes and skateboards to hire, so much colour and artwork. Diverse crowd of all nationalities, and everyone I met was great company and they also said its the best hostel they've ever stayed in. Certainly not a party hostel.

Very nice and cozy place. Friendly people living there, as well as the landlords. I made there a lot of friends and it feels like home. Will recommend it.

Absolutely amazing. It’s between a hostel and a charming home. Customer service,self check-in,follow up superb. Was a reief to arrive in the middle of a winter night. Spotless, gingerbread smel lingering in the air, super fresh sheets. Only would add a staff for safety at night due to small shared rooms. I suggested that and I belive lovely staff will address it. Way to go Shantee house!

Unfortunately has lost a lot of its old charme and has been properly commercialized. It's more akin to glamping experience for rich Americans than the charming off beat hostel it used to be before

The location is very available from train station and also to the center. We love the place and energy we had nice stay lovely People. Very clean room we had room with private bathroom .

Avoid this place. I booked a reservation and had to cancel it because I got COVID and didn't want to infect everyone staying there. Their cancellation policy on Hostelworld said that the late cancellation fee would be the first night's stay -- instead, they charged me for every night on the reservation. When I tried to correct this with them they insisted that they couldn't refund my credit card and needed all my banking information to send the refund. This was incredibly suspicious to me and my bank agreed that you should never give your banking details to a merchant -- especially an untrustworthy one. I ended up having to get my credit card company involved to get my money back -- and they tried to charge me a second time. Shady!!!!!

Stayed here while I was getting some treatment at a local dentist. A fantastic little hostel with tons of character. Friendly staff who have been very helpful. There is a Tesco's express close by for most of your needs. Tram stop is a few minutes walk and that can take you straight to the heart of the city.

I can highly recommend this hostel. It is a smaller hostel and doesn't belong to a hostel chain. The atmosphere was great. You can either enjoy the evening at the hostel or join people and go to bars and clubs. The staff is very kind and helpful (Shout out Andy!) The rooms and facilities are clean.

We met in this wonderful hostel seven years ago and now we got engaged with the help of the wonderful staff over at shantee house that brought me into contact with a fantastic guitar player named Manuel Buda to play for my proposal. I will be forever greatful to the people and place that made this all happen, Shantee house Budapest! <3

Such a lovely place! With super friendly owner and his cute dog! Each room has their own style and the whole place is really just SHANTEE. We stayed in the yurt in the garden which is a first and a very nice experience. Next to it a chill podium with carpets and hammocks hanging to give you some time to lay around and enjoy the vibe... 🕉️☮️ They will wash and dry your dirty clothes, commune kitchen and showers are great too. Will be back and recommend to all! Thank you guys for the welcoming night! Wish I could stay more. ❤️❤️✨

Overcharge i ask him to stay till 18:00 at the night instead to check out at 11:00 he charge me another 20 euro for that and the night before i was smoke one cigarette inside and he tell me to i give him another 50 for the night instead of 30 so total of 100 for one night

the most amazing hostel I've ever worked in. everyone was super friendly and welcoming and I've made friends for life. such a chilled vibe to it thanks to the funky unique decor, the dog who kept me company during my receptionist shifts and the style of the dorms are just all so homely. the communal kitchen, lounge and bathrooms are all kept beautifully clean thanks to the cleaners who clearly make the effort to keep the spaces tidy and the property is very secure with a coded gated enterance and then a locked main door that can only be opened with your own key or by the receptionist. you can also get the choice of shared dorms or your own private room to. i was in a shared attic room with another volunteer and i loved it 💛🧡

Shantee... Synonymous with me for the best way to live in Budapest! Besides the colorful and happy atmosphere, it was a place for me where roommates became friends and these friends turned into a new family.

Shantee House and the people I have met there has been one of the best experiences of my life. The house environment has its' calming nature at the same time you can have the craziest experiences around Budapest with the people you meet at the Shantee. I have had an opportunity to meditate, connect with myself and others, experience different culture, talk until the dawn, build a bond, and have a good rest! I thank everyone, including the happiest dog Zsomi, in the lovely house of Shantee.

Five stars are not enough for Shantee House. Although our stay was short, our room was perfect (great mattress!) and Attila was especially accommodating to our needs. Will see you again! Thank you
