A very nice looking place and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Why one star? Although I looked through pages of fine print on their restrictions it wasn't until I arrived that I was told nobody over 40 is allowed there thus loosing my deposit and first night's fee.

I enjoyed my time at the hostel alot. The rooms were big enough, clean and there were enough facilities. The hostel has exactly the perfect size (I think 11 rooms with varying numbers of beds, I was in a 6 bed room) that it's social and there are always people to talk to without it being big and anonymous. There was a nice chillout area with couches and a bar with a kitchen. The layout of the hostel was the best I've seen so far, my room was a the very end of hostel and still didn't feel "far away". The atmosphere was excellent. In the evenings many guests met in the bar at around 11 pm we went out to some of the venues of Budapest (Instant was my favorite). Shoutout to Jessica, Maddie, Betty and the other volunteers for doing such a great job.

I enjoyed all of my hostel stays in Europe, but this was either #1 or #2 for me along with a place in Barcelona I liked. The people who work at the hostel make the experience for you. The rooms and beds are fine ( just like any hostel) but what I love about this place is it has the best community atmosphere. If you're a solo travel who wants to meet new people, this is your place. Everyone hangs out at the bar in the evening before going as a group to explore Budapest at night. My full appreciation to the staff past and present who work here. You are awesome.

Recommended to stay here by friends. Great atmosphere and collection of people, staff and residents included. Rob, one of the staff members was amazing! So friendly and knowledgeable on the area, very experienced in travelling around the world as well. Haven't stayed at a better hostel for socialising! Plus amenities and rooms are very high quality and well looked after.

I had so much fun at H1 Budapest. The staff is great. Best receptionist is Rob by far!! And best volunteer is Olivia. Marla is a close second. By the way, they do have multiple hair dryers, so don't worry about that! Every day and night there is something to do.

Location was perfect! Fun activities.. but the best of all: the volunteers! They are so welcoming, you will never feel alone. Special thanks to Marina (I just love her), Rob (for taking us to the walking tours), Saoirse (for taking us to the best parties) and Mirko.

I had a fantastic time at OneFam Budapest blowing off some steam after a huge year. The team here does everything to get people together - exploring the city, drinking games, pub and club crawls.. Jéssica was especially kind, attentive and fun - she'll brag about forgetting everyone's names but she remembers and helps everyone! Highly recommend Onefam to anyone visiting the city!

I had a distressing experience at this hostel on November 25th. On that night, I encountered violence and rudeness, which left me feeling vulnerable and helpless. I originally stayed nearby in an apartment, but my money and keys were stolen, leaving me stranded. Seeking refuge, I approached the hostel to inquire about accommodation for the night. Regrettably, when I explained my situation to a young man at the hostel's entrance, he informed me that they had no available rooms. I pleaded for a moment to use the wifi inside, as it was a cold and dark night, and I urgently needed to find an alternative place to stay. Instead of showing empathy and understanding, he insisted I leave immediately. I want to stress that I was not being confrontational or disrespectful. I simply needed a warm place to seek shelter and find a solution to my predicament. However, the young man forcibly pushed me out of the premises, an action that was both humiliating and disheartening. I urge the hostel's management to review security camera footage and listen to the conversation that took place during this incident. It's essential to determine the reasons behind this unwarranted treatment. I wonder if there might have been racial bias or other factors at play. Regardless of the cause, using physical force was entirely unjustified. I believe that in such situations, a place like this hostel should provide support and assistance to those in need. I wasn't asking for anything beyond a temporary refuge from the cold, and I am deeply disappointed by the treatment I received from this employee. I hope that the management takes this matter seriously and addresses it appropriately to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests in the future.

Everyone treated us like family and took us the greatest places! Alice the really nice and sweet French girl, was the best tour guide and friend! She would make sure we got up on time for our activities always saying “Good morning!!” Definitely coming back!

I had no high expectations about city or place, but Onefam for sure got the job done. I've been traveling for a while, and this was by far the most friendly place I stayed in. All the staff, volunteers, and guests were amazing during the trip. Highly recommend, especially to make friends! ❤️

Loved this hostel so much I came back just weeks after leaving. As a first-time solo female backpacker, safety was top of mind. The hostel is in the heart of the city, walking distance from attractions and shops, with a direct bus from the airport. Daily activities ranging from hikes to boat parties were a blast, and let you meet people from all walks of life. The highlight was definitely the staff - special shoutout to Davide, in-house bartender and local café connoisseur. If you're in town, stay at Onefam!

This Hostel was a very good place to meet new people from around the world and make new friends. It is very central so you can walk from there almost everywhere. Special thanks to the Staff that hyped everyone up to meet new people and have the best time in Budapest. Special shoutout to David and Izzy, that where very fun to talk to. :)) - The German Girl 1

Clean accommodation and fun environment. Cassie and Sophia are the absolute best hosts! They made us feel very comfortable and showed us a great time. Highly recommend this hostel!

This is an absolutely excellent hostel to stay at. Quality rooms that even have AC and some pretty nice common areas coupled with excellent staff make this a great choice. I especially found Rob and Casie super friendly and made events really fun. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Budapest!

This is hands down the best hostel I’ve stayed in anywhere in Europe. Facilities were spotless, beds with curtains were so comfortable, incredible location, but the best thing was the people. Casie, Rob, Schlomo, Sofia, Keir - all the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The only negative experience was leaving

First time staying in Budapest. Had an AMAZING time at the hostel, all due to the volunteers. From organizing activities and pub crawls, there was no shortage of things to do. Special shout-out to Solomon, Diane, John, and Caroline. Don’t lose them!!

I had an an absolutely brilliant stay at the OneFam hostel. The service was impeccable from all the staff. They were welcoming and accommodating at every opportunity. Bety was great, she brought us to szimpla kert and showed us a great time. Couldn’t have asked for more!

I really enjoyed my stay at Onefam hostel. Hostel is clean and all staff members are very friendly and helpful. Fun activities are being organized every day, during the day as well as in the evening. Special credits to Bety and Maddy for being such great hosts!

Definitly one of the best hostels I've ever been to!!! The moment I arrived the staff made me feel like I was at home. Shoutout to Este, Jojo and all the other staff members!! Met so many new people and had a wonderful time with them. In general would 100% recommend the Onefam chain!! Ps: if I could give one note for the hostel, if you have an age limit, please try to follow it bcs as a solo traveling girl it can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable if there's a middle aged man sleeping in my room. Outside of that, you guys are doing everyting perfectly!!

  • 3/5 Anitha N. 3 months ago on Google New
Center to city, great place to socialise, they arrange games and pub visits, so it's good if you are travelling solo as you get to meet people. Rooms were pretty cramped but clean and lockers were average. Ok if you just want a bed and place to shower.

I don't even know where to begin with this review. This is the best hostel I have ever stayed in! They put on free tourist and sight seeing activities every single day, and social activities every single night. You could literally go here not planning a single thing for budapest and knowing nothing, and the staff and volunteers will do it all for you and show you everything. The kitchen is small but very easy to use and well stocked. I experienced a lovely party atmosphere but was also able to sleep very well at night. I've genuinely never felt so welcome and invited by hostel staff in my life. The staff literally greet you by name every time you walk in! The whole staff was soooo amazing, but Solomon, Rob and Alina made it a truly incredible experience for me. The rooms and bathrooms as well as all common areas are sooo clean and sanitary and cleaned multiple times a day by the lovely cleaning staff. Curtains, outlets, lockers in the beds and they even provide a key lock for your stay. Also the location could not be better it is in very close walking distance to absolutely everything including clubs and restaurants. I met friends here that I will have for life. This hostel is PERFECT for solo travelers and small groups alike! Don't even consider staying anywhere else.

Gwen is the best worker! I was in the initial stages of a stroke and Gwen saved my life. While she saved my life she also helped a cancer patient exalt the evil from within. If Gwen wasn’t present tonight two guests would have passed. Gwen deserves to become royalty.

The location of the hostel is so good, and the coworkers here are so nice. If you want to make new friends and have a good time in Budapest, it's definitely the place you want to stay. And shout out to Lisa Kummer, who is a lovely person and do a good jobs to let people fit in here!

Ok so I have stayed at a LOT of Hostels throughout the world with mixed results (mostly good and a bunch great). So far Hostel One in Barcelona has been my favorite Hostel of All Time. So I came in to staying at Hostel One in Budapest with high expectations and I definitely was not disappointed. They keep the Hostel One name and brand on the top of my list. The staff is very friendly, you have everything you need and could want, the location is very good but THE BEST PART is the social aspect. They have a lot of social space to play and it is organized very well with a cool Bar and Music. There were drinking games, pub crawls, karaoke night, never a dull moment. If your a solo traveler or are coming with just one friend and want to meet a lot of cool people and make friends trust me this is the hostel to stay at. Thanks again for the great time guys. You made Budapest even better than it already was. See you next time ✌️

This is a very social hostel with phenomenal and welcoming staff. Rob is amazing, approachable and always open to help. I would stay here again for the social atmosphere and staff. Also picked up some more Russian from the lovely Marina who made laugh everyday with her jokes! Great location and community!

This is by far the best hostile I've ever stayed at. It was clean, and in a great location, but the thing that really made the hostile great was the people, and they atmosphere the people that were staying or working there. Specifically The atomsphere. The staff that worked there, very much felt like a small family too me. As a solo traveler it was really cool to be embraced by them while being so far from home. Playing drinking games/party boat/pub crawl, or relaxing watching Squid Game with the crew while working it was a great place and I appreciate everyone that made it an awesome place. Thanks Specifically to, Arman, Clem, Connie, Deniz, Karina, Kayla, Maria, Mafalda, Rob, Silas, Sofi

One of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever stayed at! Great location as well. Also, staff was really friendly, helpful, and ready for a party, even during the time when the borders of Hungary were still closed. They tried to make you feel at home and gave great recommendations. Being able do play rage cage, f**k the dealer and beer pong are a bonus :D

This hostel is and will always be my favorite place to stay. They have an excellent location, facilities, and daily activities. The staff goes the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome and part of the family. I'm so glad to have stayed here, and mostly I'm grateful for Rob and Hector. They made my stay the most wonderful I've ever had while traveling. Rob is wonderful. Fun, caring, kind, and the to-go person for everything you may need. He knows the city better than anyone, and will always have the time to guide you and look after you. His activities are the best ones! Hector is the friendly face you'll always want to see. He helped me with restaurants, places, and every issue I had. I honestly can't wait to go back. I loved this place, the staff, the friends I made, and the city.

This was probably the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at! The hostel itself is very clean & safe, with the rooms having ample storage space and even a personal curtain in your bed for privacy. The hostel is very social, organizing several outings every day. The staff are incredibly kind and excited to get to know you. I would definitely stay here again!

If you are traveling to Budapest to meet fun international people and party until the sun comes up this is the place to go! Everybody was so nice and the staff made sure everyone was included in the daily games and activities that they organized! Special shoutout to Rob who I immediately clicked with! Such a cool and fun guy and you are guaranteed to have a fun night when going out with him! Also Hannah the sweetest girl ever such a kind heart and so welcoming! immediately felt safe with her. And last but not least Andy, the best game host you will find! her energy is top tier, she is the moment :) didn’t have any complaints whatsoever, will definitely return!

If you’re traveling to Budapest and looking for a hostel to stay in, this is the place to be! Andy, Rob, and the the rest of the staff do an amazing job of making it and inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you’re traveling with friends or traveling alone, you’ll leave here with more friends than you came with. Every single night was a memorable night. By the end of my trip I didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend this hostel

This hostel is great! The rooms are decent, the beds are not the most comfortable, but the curtains are nice. The bathrooms are clean and the common areas are comfortable. The staff and volunteers were excellent, super friendly, willing to chat, and good at getting the party going. Pub crawl was a blast! Free coffee and tea are a great touch. The bar and kitchen are super nice. I was expecting a free dinner as advertised on the website, but there was nothing. NO FREE DINNER! Quite disappointing. Please make this more clear on the website.

This hostel was awesome! Good vibe, lots of good and interesting people, very good for drinking games and nights out. the boat parties are amazing. and also the stuff is so nice. Shlomo is great and Cecilia is one of the nicest people I ever met!

  • 5/5 Dan H. 1 year ago on Google
The staff are awesome (Rachel, Jess, Connie and Casie) made me feel so welcomed and was loving the partying! Hostel itself is spot on, good location, clean and a good vibe. The only thing I’ll say is that they have stopped doing the free evening dinners which for what you pay for is a bit cheeky, since it’s still advertised on the website. That’s the only fault I can find though, get yourself booked in, you’ll love it

Very fun with great staff. Daily and nightly activities. Clean and hygienic, good amenities, free tea and coffee. Shoutout to Martini, Solomon, Farrah, and Charlotte who made my stay so enjoyable!

One of the best hostels I have stayed in whilst travelling due to the wonderful staff and volunteers here. I completely messed up my booking and Marina and Martini quickly sorted me out! The hostel is in a great location, walking distance to everything worthy of visiting. Farrah and Charlotte made sure everyone was included in drinking games and ensured that everyone had an amazing time on nights out (which happened every night except Sunday). Also, thanks to Jack and Shlomo for looking after me when I got a little too drunk...

  • 5/5 Maria E. 1 year ago on Google
By far the best hostel I stayed while travelling! All the staff and volunteers are supper nice and always make sure to make you feel welcome! They always have things planned for both day and night! Farrah and Charlotte were so fun to go out with and always making sure everyone had a great time! When I messed my booking out, thinking I had an extra day there (obviously having too good of a time) Marina and Martini were so helpful to sort everything out! I can’t thank them enough for all the help - especially Shlomo and Jack for making sure I made it back to the hostel after a night out!

The hostel itself is all right, no curtains in the bunk beds to get privacy and most of the toilets were unusable. The staff is super kind, they organize daily visits around the city, drinking games in the evenings, boat parties… would definitely recommend !

This was one of our favorite hostels that we’ve stayed at during our trip across Europe. The hostel does a great job at hosting events to really make it feel like one big family. The staff is also fantastic! Maddy, in particular, went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and got what we needed. Juan was also very friendly and fun to talk to! Thank you to the hostel team for creating such a memorable experience and providing a positive space. Looking forward to coming back; hopefully in the near future!

Completely changed my perception of hostels. Rooms are adequate, there are two outlets and two usb-a slots for charging directly near the bed light. The biggest plus is community. Staff are lovely, I definitely didn’t want to leave. I hope to come back.
