    I stayed here a week back in summer. It's a great value hostel that verges being a party hostel but the rooms are separated so you can still get a good nights sleep if you wish. The staff are primarily volunteers which can be hit and miss in hostels but worked out well here. There is a lovely seating area in common room, albeit it was being painted for a few days when I stayed, decently sized kitchen but which can be busy especially in the evening and an outside courtyard area. I feel like they could do more with the courtyard area but closes early to minimise noise for the neighbours so I assume that's a reason why. There is a great information board which lists where to go out, eat, sight-see etc that is really well done. There is daily communal meals and nights out/pub crawls which joins with the other 4 hostels that Meander are linked with. It's a good night out. 1 negative note I have to mention is there was an issue with the booking system. I booked 4 days originally but ended putting me down for a about a week later than I booked and I was told I wasn't the only one. This meant the first night I arrived it was full and therefore no bed. They sorted out a place for me at Vitae and the staff did everything they could but still that shouldn't happen. This is a place to stay if you are looking for a cheap, good valued place to stay, want to meet others but where you can get some sleep.

    This was my first hostel experience and one of the best decisions I made in Budapest. The staff at Meander were so warm and welcoming, and made me feel at home immediately. I also had great chats with other guests at the hostel. The interior of the hostel was very colourful, vibrant and youthful. The room was also neat and clean. Overall a wonderful stay, it's a pity it was only for one night. Wish I had stayed longer!

    Probably the friendliest hostel that I've been in Europe so far. The staff is really kind and friendly, feels more like they are there to make friends than just work. In fact they even hang out in the hostel, which was really nice. The location is good, and you also have the team about 500mt if you don't want to walk. Go there if you want to meet people and have a nice time, not to rest.

    Overall very good. But the room was very, very hot. Huge battery. I have to sleep with the window open. What causes noise from the street and the voices of loud people walking at night?

    This is one of the best hostels I've stayed at in my life. The atmosphere is amazing and all the people I met there were also amazing. The staff is so helpful and friendly as well. They are always there to answer any question and they lead adventures every night. It might be to a boat cruise on the Danube, to some ruin bars or karaoke at the hostel next door. I would highly recommend staying here. Shout out to Neil and Shelby. They were the coolest staff I met there!

    The best hostel in the whole wide world! Clean, sociable, friendly, great staff, events every night, can sleep if you want or party! Don't consider staying anywhere else in Budapest. You won't regret!!!!

    I absolutely loved this hostel. Must be the best I have ever been to. The staff are amazing, on top of their game, and extremely friendly and available for help or information. Meander hosts events every single night, from bar crawls and cave diving to boat tours. They always come long and it is as much a pleasure for them as it is the guests. India specifically was very resourceful, fun to talk to, and invited me out many times for a coffee or lunch. Rachel was very kind and fun as well. If I could remember the rest of the staffs names, they would all have mentions too :). I highly recommend staying here, and the location is the best you will find. It's a quick walk to everything in the city. Edit: I wanted to mention the cleanliness of the place, as I have just read some reviews counter to my experience. The whole place was honestly spotless, and they cleaned all of the facilities and the rooms probably twice a day. I honestly feel like I could use the restroom, and return 5 minutes later and it was already clean lol.

    Had an excellent stay (booked a room for five days). Cozy, clean and homely atmosphere. Welcoming, young and super friendly staff. When we first arrived to Meander Hostel my traveling partner and I was welcomed by staff member Ellen, who sat us down with a cup of coffee and told us about the hostel, Budapest in general, and what kind of social events we could take part in, throughout the week, together with the other guests and the hostel. We ended up pub-crawling with with some staff and a group of people from the hostel the following afternoon, visiting a lot of super cool ruin bars (drinks and beer ARE super cheap by the way), GREAT EXPERIENCE! - there was other events as well, but I didn’t take part (: As the Meander Hostel is not a party-hostel, I had no problem falling asleep in my bunk bed in the 10 person room/dormitory where I stayed. It was quiet throughout the night - appreciated :P Also the weather was super hot so the showers being open 24/7 was much appreciated as well. I think that’s it... check in was smooth, checkout was smooth. ..If you bring your own lock, you can use the lockers. ..There is a kitchen and you can use that, put your stuff the fridge if you want. ..The place is quite large, there is an outside area where you can chill as well.. a balcony from where you can hang your clothes to dry... hmmm.. I didn’t find that I needing anything that wasn’t already there (: All in all a great experience - this stay absolutely made me want to travel more often (;

    Stay here everytime I come to Budapest. The staff are all so friendly and helpful; they all know the city like the back of their hand and will give you a map reading on arrival with their own personal recommendations. Events every night make it easy to meet new people but as they're all off site you can still have a good night's sleep. I love meander đź’ž

    Meander was an incredible hostel! Staff were super friendly and helpful (especially Alex and Whinge!), the rooms and bathrooms were clean, kitchen facilities fantastic too. I think what really made it such a great place to stay were the activities organised by staff, and the sense of family/home you got after staying there for only one night. If you're looking for somewhere in Budapest, this is the best place you could ask for. Thanks for such a great stay!!

    Best hostel in Budapest! Amazing family atmosphere with cute, spacious common rooms and a huge kitchen. They do family dinner, offer the best nightly events, have a sweet courtyard and even a movie room! Will definitely stay here again when back in Budapest even though Wheelbarrow kind of smells.

    The most amazing hostel! The staff included the chillest and most welcoming people ever. The rooms were clean and the kitchen was perfect. Common area was fun and comfortable. Me and my friend felt right at home, from Neil welcoming us to the hostel to India and Nathan taking us on our first pub crawl of Budapest, (and Ally convincing me to take a night boat cruise =best decision). So happy we picked this spot that felt like home by the end of the week.

    Great place, great atmosphere and awesome staff. Best hostel experience so far without any doubt. The hostel is situated very central close party places. Still it is not a party hostel which is cool, it is quiet at night but there is still plenty of night life and night life activities planned. The staff is super helpfull, they know the area and will do everything to help you without asking anything in return unlike most other hostels.
