On
my
previous
26
visits
to
Budapest
from
California
since
1995,
I
had
discovered
the
Gerloczy
Cafe
and
would
often
have
breakfast
or
lunch
at
the
restaurant.
But
on
this
visit,
with
my
regular
airbnb
booked,
I
thought
I
would
try
the
hotel.
And
I
am
so
glad
I
did.
It
transported
me
to
"The
World
of
Yesterday".
The
room
was
great
with
high
ceilings
and
comfortable
bed.
But
my
favorite
was
the
beautiful
huge
bath
tub.
And
I
loved
the
window
looking
out
on
the
square,
with
a
lamp
post
where
I
could
see
if
it
was
snowing.
The
Cafe
is
excellent,
and
without
a
major
agenda
on
this
visit,
just
enjoying
being
back
to
Budapest
after
3
years,
especially
during
the
Holiday
Season,
I
decided
to
take
the
majority
of
my
meals
at
the
restaurant
for
my
8
day
stay.
The
staff
was
very
accomodating
and
didn't
seem
to
mind
my
hanging
out
having
an
expresso
or
tea
and
reading
my
Stefan
Zweig,
Joseph
Roth
novel.
Overall
I
couldn't
have
been
more
pleased
with
my
stay.
