The location is perfect for ghetto/ communist era nostalgists. Just a few meters from an infamous smelly and dirty train stations. I was offered a room just for me. When I first saw the room, how small it was and how the water tasted horrible, I was not happy. Lucky for me, I quick make friends with the local spiders, whise colony is growing with each day. I was happy to hear that their webs haven't been touched since a couple months, so they could also develop a proto-culture. The local fungus also tried to communicate with me, but unfortunately I couldn't understand what they are saying. They sure as hell gave me tho a hallucinatory feeling the next morning, combined with the sound of movies from the administration, it was sure an unforgettable night. If you want to experience living in a slum, but not actually go into one, I hope you will choose the hotel. The only minus point was the cost. :)

Bed Bugs! Bed Bugs Lots of them! Please don’t come, don’t pay anything to this horrible place. I have made my reservation in a hurry was my first time in Budapest so I didn’t knew areas. When I came I ask kindly to the lady to cancel my reservation because I didn’t like it and I rather to stay in other hotel. She refused and say I had to pay full price of cancel so it was late and I stayed! Big mistake the area it’s far from the city center and after 2 nights I notice more than 3 bed bugs which was my first time in life to see something like that, I have bites all over my body and the smell of the room it’s just disgusting! It’s 6 am while writing this review waiting for department of health in Hungary to open and give them a call really this place it’s a waste shouldn’t be operating

It was dirty trashy made for the ghetto and their was a bug on the stairs in a small hole and it was very very unpleasant for a hotel that cost 50$ I'm not trying to act like a princess now but it could of been better and there was mold in the corner of the bathroom and I thought it was chicken hairs and it smelled like cigarettes and i saw the room had 3 beds when we asked for 4 beds and wifi sucked and I made friends with the mold and spiders and bed bugs 🐛 and they gave us a shower a black mark in it and they also had no flusher to flush the toilet with and there was a closet in a weird place and I was scared sleep in the bed and mostly the staff wasn't there and there were people smoking outside of it and was a big spacious room but they didn't fill it in very well and the people weren't really that nice and it was room number 31 and they definitely need update that thing and the name was hotel carmen in budapest if you want a trashy well then go there and if you want noisy nights you can have that find something better then hotel camen

We had one night in a basement room and chose to stay one more night in the city and got a room on first floor - same standard but with a table and a window. To that price and if you"re only gonna stay there for sleeping, I'd say its okay, but still dont have high expectations. The bed is okay, the sheets feel a little weird, also the towels, but it's cheap and the shower is hot. Friendly reception that let us take our bikes to the room. Smelled a bit of cigarettes even though forbidden.

It's a budget place and rated thereafter. Basic no frills rooms, but clean, spacious and practical rooms with attached bathroom. Location is better than you think, as you can get to all the major train and bus stations by public transport without changing, from Zuglo stations.A bus to Keleti stops just 50 m from the hotel. Convince store, pharmacy, restaurant, pub and tobacco shop is all within 2 min walk from the pension.

I booked the lowest category room online. They gave a room on the ground floor but that room was so small and dirty. I asked for another room, there was no other room available. We saw that the bed sheet was dirty so I asked the girl on reception to change it. She said the cleaning lady is not there anymore but at least she brought a new sheet and we changed it by ourselves. The internet was not working properly. The towels were wet and the lowest quality possible. You can hear anything from the neighbour. You hardly can close the window. The receptionist is sometimes there but mostly not. There is a phone number to call but they never answer. This room cost for 2 nights around 17.000 Forint but worth 0.

First of all, we were given a phone number to call in advance of our arrival. We called 15 times when nearing Budapest but no answer. We went there just to see if someone will be there as we were told there is no 24 hour reception. We got there and the receptionist came after us. No word about the phone calls or anything. Such a jerk. Then we found out we can not pay with our card because they can only charge HUF (Hungarian currency) . We had to find an ATM that would work or an exchange office by ourselves (he had no ideea about such things even if he is from Budapest) and it was Catholic Easter at the time.. We managed to find an ATM about 30 min away, and managed to pay for the room. I wish we hadn't. The first room given to us had a problem with the shower. The water wouldn't drain. After telling the guy, he was walking around like a headless chicken not knowing what to do. After about 45 min, and talking with the owner i presume, he told us to change the room. Both rooms were very filthy, not cleaned in a long long time. The wires in the beds were sticking out so that you had to shape your body like a snake to not lay on them, the linen was very old and paper thin and dirty, hairs all over, the pillows were like pieces of foam stuffed into a pillow case, the heating was absent, wifi would lose connection, the blankets were really thin. On the bathroom door there was a sign saying that if you want the towels changed, leave them on the floor. Well, nothing happens if you do .And we know someone was in the room as we found the window open. There were construction materials all over the place, the whole building was dirty and smelly. They didn't even bother to put some soap or shampoo in the bathroom. Luckily we brought our own. There is no parking, you just park where you can, on the street .

The room was cold and smelled like a stinky toilet, as well as the smell of tobacco and nicotine. It is likely that the odor barrier in the bathroom and shower was not good. Since the room had air conditioning heating, the bathroom door had to be kept open all the time to keep the bathroom warm, at the expense of the stench spreading from the bathroom to the bedroom. The towels were also smelly, maybe they were left in the washing machine for a long time after washing, I don't know. The walls are dirty and ooze filth. Basically, the room was cold, while the hallway was pleasantly warm. I couldn't pay by card. Overall, I felt nauseous the entire time I was there.

I was quite sceptical because of all the bad reviews but its absolutely fine place. Sure, no luxury. Its cheap place and an older building, however ... You have all eseentials well covered. you have bed, toilet, free wifi with decent speed, shower, towels, soap, el.plugs. Honestly the fact the rooms has AC was bit of a nice surprise. If you are looking for a cheap place where you get your bed to sleep privately while planning to spend most of the time in the city, this place is perfect. Very close to all kinds of public transport and very cheap. Not perfect, but for this price i wouldnt expect anything more than I got.

I made a reservation for an overnight stay in the Pension after the night arrival of the plane. We have agreed to check-in outside regular working hours with an appropriate additional payment. When the plane landed, we spoke to the receptionist and she confirmed that she was waiting for us. When we arrived in front of the Pension no one answered the phone, the door was locked, no one was there, lights was on. We waited for more than half an hour for someone to come and called the agreed telephone number, and then disappointedly drove towards our home 600 km away. At 2 a.m., tired, hungry, sleepless. Angry.

Nice hotel. Price - quality 100 percent. Good service. The rooms are weak but what do you want for the price?

Pension? No... just small rooms when you need to stay at night and go... maybe just cheap accomodation for seasonal workers. We stood outside for one hour, even the lady was there and she saw us. I really do not recommend this accomodation.

Positives: Have free parking, budget stay, private bath & very friendly staff. Negatives: Rooms and beds are not as expected. Probably the same issue in most of the hotels here in Budapest.

We booked this one for its advertised parking place...we weren't allowed to park although 2 parking places were free..one was the owner's...bad way of doing business...and although was cheap, it could be cleaner

Great for the budget traveller. A step or two above hosteling. Very friendly staff who all speak English. Small common kitchen area with fridge, microwave, and dishes. Very clean & great location. Post office & bus stop at the corner & grocery store across the street. Beautiful residential area to walk to nearby park & easy access to the center of town in minutes by bus stop across the street.

The location of the hotel is in a good place, but the employees are very indifferent and the hotel rooms are damp.

Stay away! They call thenselves "hotel" but they are just rooms. Shower all rusty, bed not fit for humans. Came there, saw the place, had to pay up the whole sum and fled. No stars for them.
