Would not recommend at all. 1. It is loud, the room is directly at a bigger junction. 2. The hostel itself is a mess, not tidy at all (including the bathroom). 3. The host did not behave professional. E.g. he just accepted cash, although in Hungary it is a must per law for shops, hotels etc. to accept card.

It is near to Budapest Kaleti station, Just 5 mins walk and on main street. Caretaker was nice and responsive and explained me city on map as well. Well, I won't suggest this for a traveller because at the end of the day, you need some privacy and nice sleep which you won't find here. See attached pics.

Stayed three nights in a private room. The room was big and decent, but not more than that. Rest of the hostel was very worn out and dirty. Even when considering the price (very cheap for a private room), I would neither recommend nor revisit this hostel.

I stayed here for three nights when I was in Budapest. I like the hostel a lot because it felt a little like being home versus being in a hostel. There is no front desk but the staff is always there(but they may step out for a bit). I think I booked a eight bed dorm but got a four bed room, so a little more privacy. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I think it's a great deal for the price. It's a little difficult to see at first and you could walk right pass. You also have to be buzzed in which can be a little confusing if you are not used to the system. Overall I liked the place and I would stay there again.

i really didn’t like it there. the owner was weird and gave me really uncomfortable feelings. he also gave us another room than we booked, but on the second day, when we weren’t there, he took all our stuff and put it in another room, without us knowing! the location is good, but personally, i would really not go back there, just a weird atmosphere in general.

I liked this hostel for three reasons: 1) It's close to everywhere. I could easily reach any part of the city as the metro station was a few meters away. 2) It's quite cheap. I stayed there for 2 whole weeks and I only payed about 50 euros. Thanks to this is that I could enjoy more the city attractions. 3) I could share with different people from all over the world. In my case I could see people from Italy, Peru, Japan, Germany, Portugal and others. The only things I didn't like much were that some of my roommies were quite unclean and that the hostel doesn't have lockers for your properties. However, the first factor is not something that the accomodation can fix. Overall, I'd definitely go to this hostel again.

Cheap and simple. Ideal to station, but no luxury.

I booked through agoda, but after I arrived, the receptionist told me, no any available room. The guy was kind, to let me to use the wifi, to try to solve this situaton.

Had a great experience at this hostel! Close to Keleti station, very well priced and room was clean. Not a super social hostel, but if you’re looking for something quiet this is perfect. Only reasons I’m giving it a 4/5 is because they only accept cash, it’s a little hidden away and hard to find and the bathrooms were a little weird. But for the price you pay it’s perfect.

This hostel is very basic in terms of facilities and decoration. However, it is very clean and the staff are polite and very helpful. I would certainly stay here again.

I would like to know if there is any open spots to volunteer in your hostel in exchange for bed and food?

I'd say this hostel is an ideal place to spend time in Budapest. It is located in the very centre of Budapest, near the international train station, Keleti Pu, as far as 10 minutes to walk to the Danube, to Budapest bridges and the historical part of Budapest. Every important must-see is virtually at your hand's reach! Apart from having a friendly and great, a bit intimate atmosphere (since it can fit only up to 15 people), you can mingle in private and shared rooms, and their service offers your so much free stuff : this including free internet facility (both WiFi and PC connection), laundry service, self-catering kitchen, bed linen and towels, including of course free Budapest maps and broshures. The best thing I would emphasize is an easy 0-24 hrs check in, which is really good for you if you happen to be coming in late evening hours. I' ve been there for several times so far, and all I can say is one thing - this place is definitely worth both your time and, not to mention, money! Welcome to Locomotive Light Hostel! :D

Fantastic little place, right next to both the train station and two metro lines. Easy to walk into town or jump on public transport. Includes decent WiFi, kitchen and laundry.

Very well maintained hostel with a great host. Coffee on the house. A little cramped but cosy.

The staff is nice, friendly and the facilities are good. However, the heating is weak and the rooms are cold.
