👍👍 I primarily like its origin, the original function, which I have been missing for twenty years. People often mention market, souvenirs, Budapest, floor, hall, visit, nice, Market, Hall, local,

I heard about this famous Market Hall in Budapest. We were on holidays from Australia so we went there and we were mesmerized and amazed in the quality of the fresh produce the fruit and vegetables and varieties of cheeses salamis meats paprikas . Hand crafts I loved the folk art stitching on table cloths and blouses. I was very impressed how very clean the market was. Budapest you won my ♥

This is NOT the central market. It’s only a supermarket and few stores. Only 2 small restaurants. It’s not the market hall as they look on the pictures.. Central Market Hall Budapest is the one you should look at, people put wrong pictures for this site…

My honest opinion regarding this place...... If you re in Budapest and you don't have much time, I would advise that there are better places to visit like Parliament building , buda Castle, St matthias Church etc Don't waste time Specially as its at one end of the city If you are in city for 4 or 5 days as I was , then you can visit if you don't have anything else to do It's just a market Nothing else 2 floors of shops Shops mostly selling meat and paprika Don't expect anything like spice bazar of turkey That's my honest opinion

It’s not the biggest indoor market in town, but it’s in a convenient location (directly across the river from the Parliament, great for pictures) and it’s very nicely maintained. You can go inside, look around and buy a small lunch which you can eat picnic style along the Danube!

Built in 1897, the Great Market Hall remains an active market with active stands selling anything from fresh produce to souvenirs to pots and pans to eateries. Definitely recommend a short walk to look around if near city center.

Worth the visit, especially if you want to buy some typical hungarian spices and liqueurs to bring home.

It is not the actual “Market Hall”, this is a fake location. Search “Central Market Hall” instead and it’s on the other side of River, far from this location. Don’t believe the other reviews because they reviewed on this wrong place, they should have searched and left the review properly and correctly. Irresponsible people!

If you have an extra day to spend in Budapest, the Market Hall is highly recommended! There are a lot of local vendors selling souvenirs, food, merchandise, clothing, veggies, meat…. It is fun!

Shopping area in Budapest with very nice Spar on first floor. Located close to metro.

  • 4/5 hélène j. 10 months ago on Google
Be careful, some of the comments and pictures seem to say that this is THE public hall market of Budapest but this is a wall / SPAR shop only. The market is located on the other side of the water after the liberty bridge.

Nothing to see here really. If you’re looking for the famous Budapest marketplace - this is not it.

  • 5/5 Michelle M. 9 months ago on Google
This place is HUGE. I did not know it closed so early or else I would’ve went a lot earlier to explore. I easily could’ve spent 2 hours exploring, eating & buying souvenirs. I would recommend not only going early but really taking your time looking at all the vendors!

For locals, it's a place for shopping, for tourists, it's a nice attraction. Wide selection of local food, spice and souvenirs. Unique vibrant atmosphere. Obviously, it is overcrowded, but it's part of the game.

This is a must-visit for anyone interested in the authentic Budapest experience! We went for lunch at 12/1pm, which seems like the perfect time to go. Special shoutout to the Kremes and sour cherry Strudel (on the ground floor) and the hungarian sausage with kraut and potatoes (one level up, where the hot food stalls are).

A beautiful building inside & out but not much variety to offer. Food places are ok, but only downfall is no places to sit and eat.

Beautiful market hall. Very authentic even though it is busy with tourists. You can find a lot of Hungarian souvenirs for fair price

Visited this place April 2023. It is such a huge marketplace you can find almost anything here. It’s diverse and vibrant, local, and yet extremely visitor friendly.

Something cool to quickly check out for fresh and traditional produce. Locals still come here and buy from patrons. Didn’t buy anything though as I’ve heard they can be marked up high for tourists. Great facade with interiors preserved.

Great market, so many stalls with food & everything else. Paprika, langos, typically Hungarian items. You can pay in forints or euros. Food was lovely, very tasty. So many people everywhere, go & search & bargain before you commit to buying. Have fun. Take loads of photos & buy your souvenirs. Definitely pay a visit! The toilets cost €1 per person - you are better off going to Burger King just opposite & buying chips which will give you a code to enter their toilets. Or go the the FOR SALE PUB, just opposite to market hall - it’s a great pub.

It’s old style, looks cool but for us, we didn’t get anything there. The food zone was a bit stressful. Instead of staying there for food, we left for more relax location. But still cool to stop by and have a quick look there.

nice architecture, wide selection of meat on the first floor, I didn't like the plastic fruits and vegetables. The second floor is very crowded with Chinese goods (all kinds of souvenirs) and there is no air at all - it reminds me of a famous market in Istanbul

A local market offering various fruits, meats and eateries. Also a bunch of souvenirs and other querky items. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

The increased price it's not justified. 5€ five years ago..7€ 3 years ago and now 13.90€. Food buffet it's poor. Not recommend

  • 3/5 Davide C. 2 years ago on Google
On the first floor, you find some nice souvenirs at acceptable prices. Although very repetitive, they all sell the same things, worth visiting

  • 5/5 Nagy I. 2 years ago on Google
I like spending my time at this place because there is a nice view on the other side of the Danube, where you can see the Parliament.

  • 1/5 Sebastian D. 10 months ago on Google
Quite disappointing since there is a Spar and some travel agencies. Head to the Crntral Market for the real experience

  • 4/5 S P. 1 year ago on Google
A lovely market place where one can buy food, vegetables and meat. As well as souvenirs, one can also eat local dishes like meat stew and chicken paprika.

  • 4/5 Jeff K. 1 year ago on Google
It’s a main enough tourist attraction that you should probably go to see it. However, expect throngs of your groups that make navigating the market a challenge. Busy is vibrant and fun. It’s what a market should be. Large groups that block paths, are not there to shop and have no regard for others is another thing. While the prices may be a little higher that other shops, if you want souvenir spices or a nice piece of fresh fruit for a snack, enjoy the experience.

Market Hall is one of my favourite place in Budapest. It is located in Fovam Ter and you can reach easily via metro, tram or bus. It is near the liberty bridge. You can find every food products meat, bread, vegetable or fruit. Also there are restaurants and souvenirs in the upstairs if you buy something gifts for your friends you can find anything with reasonable prices

  • 1/5 Everything Book R. 1 year ago on Google
This is the first place that comes up when you search for the market in Budapest this is a local supermarket NOT THE TOURIST GRAND MARKET. To find the main one type central market Hall!

  • 5/5 Matheus N. 1 year ago on Google
Such a nice place to be! Many options for shopping goods and souvenirs. The restaurants are also amazing

  • 4/5 Muhamed F. 1 year ago on Google
In my opinion, much better than Nagy Vasarcsarnok near Fovam ter which is much more expensive because tourists visit it more. In the upper part there is pepco and dm.

  • 3/5 Nina Hype (. 1 year ago on Google
This is not a market hall or a "piac" anymore, not like the central market hall near the green bridge, it's more like a very quiet little shopping mall. It has one large grocery store on ground floor and a few stores upstairs, like a DM, Pepco, a pet store and that's mostly it. The coffee house and the view is the only thing worth visiting this market hall. Best coffee in Budapest. The grocery store is also very well equipped. Most of the reviews here are describing the central market hall, don't trust the pictures, people are confused.

Attention, this is NOT a market, it is mixed by Google maps with another place! Here there is a Spar supermarket and some shops upstairs. The "big" market is at Fővám square.

  • 5/5 Claire Y. 1 year ago on Google
Such a nice place to spend time eating and shopping for paprika and goose livers. The whole market is so huge that it will take you some time first to look around on the first floor, shop for souvenirs on the second floor, and make a small adventure on the basement floor. Hot food stands are at the corner of the second floor, which I recommend the traditional goulash shown in the picture. Also, bring cash (Flint!!) with you since some of the shops don’t accept card or is more expensive if you pay by card.
