Had a day I Budapest after a Danube River cruise/bike tour. Booked the English tour. Brigitte was our tour guide. She was really great and made sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend this tour and museum visit. I liked the history in the museum as well as the vast mini bottle collection.

The exhibition wasn't open when we went, but we only had to pay half price and the experience was still more than worth it. The cellar tour and tasting was really fun and unique. And the shop offers really great prices on Zwack products!

We really enjoyed this museum. It begins with learning about how the company started and the family that still runs it today. They talked about advertising and how the company survived the war. The museum itself has so many things to look at. The miniature bottle collection was a very pretty bonus. The highlight of the tour is going down into the cellars and tasting the Unicum. It's a really unique taste and they have 4 flavours to try; original, plum, coffee, and the reserve. I really liked the reserve. This was a well done tour with a very nice gift shop at the end.

(Translated by Google) I can recommend. An interesting little film was made about the family and the history of the plant. The presenter is sympathetic, enthusiastic and constantly expands his knowledge of things related to the plant, eg the origin of advertising posters, etc. The relics are interesting, interesting things can be found all over the world. The store in the museum offers surprisingly friendly prices with a wide selection. A múzeumban található boltban meglepően barátságos árak várják a vásárlókat, széles kínálattal.

We visit the museum, saw the history of the Zwack family and tasted the different Unicum's flavors. At the end you have a little store. Everything was great. Love it.

My friends and I (a group of six) bought tickets for the guided tour of the museum in advance. We had a lovely time even though we were part of a large visiting group. Our visit started with a short movie, and then we were shown around the old distillery, the underground cask room and the museum. Our guide was very friendly and the Unicum drinks she served us were tasty. I definitely recommend this fun tour for anyone over 18!

(Translated by Google) The experience far exceeded our expectations of the 2,500 forint tour. The program began with a 20-minute video. It was sweet in terms of content anyway, but sometimes the sound quality was so poor that it couldn’t be understood. And let's face it, no one alone would pay! After that, the factory visit part began. The guide was kind, but his wording was a robe, clumsy, sometimes meaningless sentences left his mouth. Yet it was not a big challenge in terms of his tour guide responsibilities. The maximum 20-minute round we did covered: viewing some dried ingredients and 2 old distilleries, followed by a 5-minute walk in the pizzeria and tasting 2 types of unicum. He also had a maximum of 10 minutes of text, benevolent, that's all. In the end, it blew us so that if we wanted, we could even see the museum, yeah, and there was a "shop" where we could shop. Well, it didn't bring my enthusiasm. I wish Zwack owners / managers to find someone who will be able to bring this program to life with lots and lots of work and creativity and why it will be worth asking for money and not just because they give a tasting.

What a delightful experience, the kind that causes both touristy lols and genuine childish excitement. Especially if you like big machines and barrells (I do). The tour starts with a film. It is a biiit like a long commercial, at times do over the top that it's comedic, but that's ok (there are also some interesting historical elements in it of course). The best part of the experience is the visit to the cellar, and it would be the best and interesting even without the tasting! It's existing to visit a working distillery! The museum is full of interesting artefacts and the photo booth gave us the ultimate lol experience. (I say it without irony). Kudos to the guide (Kristoff?) for being patient with our dad jokes and questions about everything.

Good history and background of how Unicum comes about and resilience to stay in business. Creatively create more flavors and lets face it that it’s an acquired taste for the wine that is to help your stomach.

Discovering Unicum factory. We purchased a Hop on Hop off pass during our last full day in Budapest. Ultimately, we stopped at the Zwack Unicum Museum because it was a designated stop. We actually recommend the Hop on Hop off in Budapest, because some of the main points are dispersed. So it's a quick way to access and discover the main attractions. We never heard from Unicum prior to visiting Budapest. So this got us curious about the famous drink from Hungary. We decided to give it a shot and we are happy to have discovered. Just to be clear, the museum is on the route but there is still a fee to enter. FYI, it was approximately $10 CAD to enter. The tour. During your tour, you will get the typical information about the factory, the history and how they got started. There is a guide that shows you an overview of the receipt and herbs they use. There is a specific way to store and treat the ingredients and of course a taste test of two types of Unicum liquor. Personally I (Eli) thought really strong but Serge seemed to like it! Near the end of the tour, they bring you to an old artifacts room. This is where they keep all the different bottles used over time, Unicum advertising, etc They also have a gift shop. So if you want, there's a possibility to bring a Unicum souvenir back home. Serge: 4+ Eli: 4 Do we recommend: Yes, we really liked the experience. It's something new and unique from the city of Budapest. Tips: 1. Check the hours of operation. They were very accommodating since we arrived right at the cutoff time 2. Get ready ! Because this drink is strong

(Translated by Google) The story itself is captivating. The road from the past to the present. The family and Unicum itself, which is a bit for all of us ... Nice to see you again. Other ... I read a very critical remark below. I can't judge the lady's vision, demands (snobbery), I'm not an officer. One for sure. Exquisite and high-quality exhibition. It would have a place anywhere in Europe. I say this despite the fact that for the second time unfortunately we could not watch (covid) the full presentation. I recommend it from a pure heart. And not just because of the tasting. Well ... I liked that too ... (Original) A történet maga lebilincselő. Európában bárhol megállná a helyét. Mondom ezt annak dacára, h másodszorra sajnos nem tudtuk megnézni (covid) a teljes bemutatót. Tiszta szívből ajánlom. És nem csak a kóstoló miatt. Na jó... Azért az is tetszett...

A hidden gem. This place was recommended by my brother in laws Hungarian cleaner and it was really interesting. The old distillery with all the old barrels was really cool. The drink itself is something of an acquired taste but the history of the factory and the family is amazing. I was strangely taken by their huge collection (thousands) of miniature bottles.

A very interesting place, the home of the famous Hungarian liquor. The visitors may see and smell some of the ingredients, learn about the history of the family, take a walk in the cellars and taste the cask strength version of Unicum. The museum offers a lot to see and read - about everything related to the Zwack company. In the merch shop you can buy a lot of memorabilia, Unicum itself and other spirits as well.

The distillery and museum of the famous Hungarian spirit, which I had so much of but only got to know the history of lately. The tour starts with a documentary about the story of the company and its products, centered around the Zwack family and how the business was founded, lost and taken back to continue the tradition. The tour continues with a guided visit to the old distillery (shout out to our guide Marko who was extremely nice and enthusiastic 😊), with the tasting of the 4 kinds of the spirit that the company produces, right from the barrels! After the distillery tour, the guests are oriented to the museum where many artifacts are exposed (old products bottles, pictures, posters… all related the history of the company, it was very interesting). The house accommodates all kinds of visits for either locals or tourists (English available) and also private group visits (like a team building for example). There’s of course a gift shop where you can buy the house drinks and special merchandise, plus other partners’ products. Recommended!

Amazing tour of Unicum, such a well presented and extremely nice museum and factory. This is an ultimate tour quality and totally prepared for all international visitors. I would just leave a recommendation to make the intro video a little shorter, I believe it's to long and repeats itself a couple of times.

A great place to visit while you're in Budapest We booked a tour online. If you're interested be sure to book early because it seems the slots fill up fast. The tour was a lot of fun. It includes about a 20 min video of the family history and then a tour of the facility plus tastings. They have 4 flavors but we only sampled two. It would be nice if the tours included a sampling of all their flavors considering it was only 4. The flavor of the unicum was ok. The original was too bitter for me personally but the plum was sweet. Overall, a fun experience.

Lots of fun and plenty of free samples to give you a buzz. Unicum translated from Hungarian means "unique" given its name by the emperor who took it to help with his digestive problems. The history of the product developed by the Zwack family is very interesting. Also very interesting that the communist took over the business but the family was eventually able to get it back. It probably helps some because it is 80 proof alcohol but the unique blend of herbs gives it a very unique "somewhat bitter and medicinal" flavor. However the more untraditional flavors of plum and coffee are more palatable and the reserve which is made with adding a wine but still 80 proof goes down easier. Still the hungarians I believe prefer the traditional and they consume most of it in their country. It is not exported to the USA according to our guide because they will not disclose the very secret family ingredients to the FDA. The tiny liquor bottle collection of I believe 17,000 bottles is unique if you're into bottle collections. It was apparently donated by someone who had hoarded all these little bottles. His wife probably told him to get them out of the house, that's my conjecture. If you're looking for something unique to do in Budapest this is the tour. Lastly, the water man is their trademark and a scary dude at that.

*Required* visit for all tourists, this tour gives a real sense of a family through six generations, through wars, having what they built taken from them by the government, starting new in America, buying the original building and rebuilding again in Hungary, into the modern day with highest quality products and the best marketing I've ever seen plus one of the largest collection of mini alcohol bottles in Europe. The family has kept their recipe secret for over 200 years and continually cared for the community through various contributions.
