Nice local restaurant with good food. We have tried a lot of things there and most of them were really good. The portions are also good. They offer goulash as a main dish and as soup. We went there 3 times for our short stay in Budapest as we wanted to try more things from the menu. There was no music when we were there but that was ok.

Nice traditional Hungarian restaurant. We had fish soup, was sublime, pork shunk platter for two, was really good, nice big portions and tripe goulash what unfortunately didn’t like as it was overpowered with tomato. Breaded veal leg and the almond perch was excellent as well going down with a lovely Merlot. As a hungarian chef I’d recommend this place if you would like to try the Hungarian cuisine. 😍 Enjoy:-)

We were recommended this gem of a place by some Hungarian friends. The traditional Hungarian dishes were delicious and as far as we can tell authentic 😉. Definitely worth a visit! Amazing price for some amazing food with friendly service.

Best thing was the portion of the apple juice. Steak was tougher then the benches we were sat on and probably tasted the same too. Food took almost forever to arrive and service whilst friendly, refused to help with our order. Do not recommend.

Absolutely enormous portions! Beware. Food quality was fine, nothing special. The waitresses were super friendly, and the neighbourhood is very nice to walk around afterwards. Prices are very good, though.

The best place in Budapest! We have been all around but this place is the top of the game. Super friendly staff who serve tasty dish as well as desserts. We will definitely come back every time when we're in Budapest. Waitress "Flower" made us feel very special... LOVE IT ❤️

Great snitzel with amazing, one of a king crust. The goulash and the Dumplings are a big yes and the somloi is the perfect desert to end a good meal here. All at a very good price, on this amazing street filled with restaurants and galleries.

If you like a quick bite of magyar typical food this is your place. Good food quality, mint that friendly but fast service and they place is simple but cozy. You can read the menu on English, this is a plus, and you can pay in euro, forint or by card. I recommend the rantött sajt, some mozzarella breaded with tartar sauce for starter. A must for the end: a shot of palinka, plum or peach! Price quality relationship is excellent.

All soups are not good as expected. Main dishes are very Hungarian and good taste. Dont sit inside the restaurant because it is too tiny, each table like a little kiosk. Very local taste .

A traditional Hungarian pub with retro local food selections. The main dishes are separate from the sides, so ensure to order the sides with the main dishes. Their dishes are quite big and heavy (oily), so ask for a half board if possible. The biscuit dessert was nice and it was recommended by the staff, and it was a good one, and we appreciated his good choice. The staff speak English, but they tend to be shy since its not so good, so be accommodative with them, and they will surprise you. Eg, We ordered a wrong main dish, a veal fry, but we ended up with a veal knuckle fry (3 pieces with cream sauce), which was literally only tendons deep fry. We were confused the fry didn't have any veal meat, but when doubled checked, the menu stated knuckle deep fry, ufff 🙆🤦, and the waitress seemed say, facially, duh you ordered it😁. We couldn't eat it, so we ordered a pork cutlet, and requested the waiter to take it back, and we were willing to pay for the funky knuckle fry. But the nice waiter spoke with the manager, and when we were paying, we discovered the manager didn't charge us, we were so happy of their good customer service, we left a good tip to the servers. Customer care in many restaurants in Budapest aren't the best, but if you find a good one, reward their good service and return ✌️.

This restaurant is wonderful... it has a bohemian feeling, or something vintage... I loved it. It was recommended to me by a Hungarian friend in my search for restaurants with traditional food and it was truly worth it. They have a menu with descriptions in English. And keep in mind that the portions are abundant. I will return.. I loved it!

Typical town restaurant, The food is tasty and the menu is less "tourist oriented", the same goes for the price, really cheaper than restaurants for tourists. Don't order too much food, the quantity is really generous (me and my wife always make evaluation errors 😅). It really worth to eat here.

Food was nice. I had the beef goulash which was very tasty and these nutty, chocolate pancakes. However my vegetarian friend could not have any main course. The waitresses did not speak any English so it made it very difficult to order. Obviously I understand we are in Hungary but more as a warning to other tourists. Definitely not veggie/vegan friendly but the food I had was tasty so 3 star.

The best restaurant in budapest, it's all I can say. The place is warm, like something from the past, workers are friendly, even funny, and food is... Real, an experience, delicious and typical. Here you can taste Hungarian cuisine, from the bottom to the the top. Even if you're very far, think about planning a trip to Margaret Island and dinner/lunch here after it. You'll never be disappointed. Lastly, the place is one of the most favorites among locals. I love this restaurant from the bottom of my heart. Thank you! And forza Sassuolo!!!

The Pozsonyi is a great restaurant, the food is excellent with a huge selection. The bone marrow on toast is always a hit. The staff are very friendly and courteous. They are usually very busy so a reservation is a good idea. We are regulars and definitely recommend this restaurant.

Foods have quite big portions. It was full house so it’s kind of acceptable to wait 30 mins for food. The thing that I didn’t liked that much is turkey fries were smelling egg. Cucumber salad and potatoes which is side of the main dish were fabulous. Service is okay, it’s hard to make it with just one waiter, congrats to her at that rush time she managed well but they can be more staff so it will be much quick

Hearty food in huge portions, not Michelin-starred but feels very authentic and tastes delicious. Pleasant staff as well, and affordable (if you're a tourist). Nice seating area outside draped in greenery, by a street where little traffic goes past (although a bus does stop next to it occasionally). I can recommend the Beef Pörkölt and the Cucumber Salad. The portion was very big and flavourful, and the meat was of decent enough quality. Next time, I would skip dessert and go somewhere else - the extra wait isn't quite worth it.

It was an authentic experience gir sure. The food was very tasty and the dish sizes are big - we were unable to finish all (although it was really good). The prices are adequate, better than in many other restaurants with Hungarian cuisine. I think it works till 10pm, however there were a lot of people past that time, so we were able to eat comfortably even late in the evening.

No longer cash-only, we found out after having made a stop at the ATM. We ordered goulash and some kind of pasta in sheep's milk cottage, couldn't finish it and it was very very delicious. Server was incredibly rude and we almost left before ordering, I felt I couldn't dare ask anything about the dish before ordering, but I am happy we stayed because the food was worth it. Felt that they weren't happy to see tourists - I can understand but also not fun to be on that end of the stick. 4/5 because of service; would come back but so many places to eat in this wonderful city, that I doubt if I will

Very underwhelmed. Perhaps we didn’t order well but the bread crumbed cheese didn’t have any salt on it, the goulash bean soup was okay. The meat was average and not full of flavour. And nothing was spicy although again perhaps we didn’t order very well. Bit disappointing but still good enough to eat. The stuffed paprika was good!

It is a nice cozy place where locals are visiting majorly. Staff speaks English and Location is great. Prices might be a bit over the average but it was expected I had Goulash ( it was not dark red one) and it was good. My friend had Gypsy style cooked meat - the only concern was over cooked fat, he likes it juicy half cooked We tried draft IPA and it was OK. Sorry i am IPA fan (it is hard to impress an expat from Prague 😉)

It was our first stop in Budapest. I saw this on google maps and it didn’t disappoint. The food was on point!! Seriously the FOOD. The service was fast. Shout out to the women who run this place. Keep up the good work.

Great local place for traditional food. Great atmosphere outside in the street. Had the Goulash and it was excellent, very generous with their portion sizes!

Delicious mostly hungarian traditional food. Better to reserv a table because mostly occupied. The price is ok. And they have fast service.

Cozy place to have Hungarian cuisine. The portions are large and the service is great.

  • 1/5 Maja A. A. 10 months ago on Google
The staff was relatively friendly and the atmosphere was nice and cosy, looked like people enjoyed themselves. What brings this rating down to 1 star is the meal. I ordered the chicken soup, which literally tasted like they heated up water and then put everything in. It was somewhat cold when it arrived and had no taste whatsoever. The chicken was dry. My partner ordered the goulash soup, and even that didn't have any taste. At least it was hot when it arrived. Really hope the rest of the Manu taste better, we did not have a good experience.

We had borzaska and goulash. They have a lot of traditional dishes, big portions. We could not finish the food, even though we were really hungry. Sishes do not come with side dishes, so we had the extra. With the goulash they recommended sime dumplings pasta and with the borzaska, which, by the way, was our fabourite, french fries. These side dishes were a little bit cold. The place looks friendly and welcoming.

Great. If you’re searching for Hungarian food, this is the place to go to: they serve everything that makes a typical Hungarian kitchen, from a classic Goulash to Schnitzel and various other dishes the cuisine has an offer. Always on the hand is a healthy portion of sour cream (served pretty much with everything in Hungary) and some Erös Piszta (spicy chilly). All the food they make is excellent quality, portions are rather big — and service is friendly and always helpful.

The waiting time is just a horror. We came around 7pm, the restaurant was packed, but we were quickly served with drinks-that's fine. We waited for food 30 min which is also fine. But after that we ordered one piece of cake(!) and after 30 minutes we just resigned and left. I like the vibe of the place, the food was nice, but I think something is nit quite ok. Such a shame.

Came here by my tour guide recommendation, and it did not disappoint. Great traditional Hungarian food. The goulash was outstanding and the portions served were good. Will come back to dine when I'm in the area. A little bit of music ambience would've been perfect.

Old school Hungarian style restaurant with a jewish twist. The matzo ball soup was so great I even forget to take a photo:) Brassoi was a too heavy with lots of bacon. Worth to try for the feeling and if you are really hungry.

  • 2/5 Alex S. 1 year ago on Google
The food was mediocre at best, half the salads were out of stock. The menu was totally confusing (white pages with text). Not even one waiter could speak english. They knew just some words and the rest with body language symbols. We went to this place due to a guide and i guess thats why they do not improve. They are famous from the past, people go there and then they can serve mediocre food. Not a place i would recommend. There are thousand better places in Budapest.

This place had a nice and quiet atmosphere when I was there. However keep in mind, this is not a 5 star restaurant. It’s more of a local place. The portions are HUGE! Goulash was nice. This is a place to go to if you are hungry and you just want to fill yourself with a typical basic meal that includes some meat, potatoes and maybe a salad.

  • 5/5 Benyamin S. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing restaurant, with very good prices! As far as I noticed, only locals were eating there, which says something about the place :) The service was good - part of the staff speaks English, part of it not, but they are friendly and make it easy to communicate. I had goulash and beef with potatoes (forgot the name), both were great! Definitely recommend! They do accept card payment.

Ohhhhh that duck. Wow. Crispy. Tender meat. Delicious sides and plenty of em. Need to return just for this.

  • 3/5 Eldar A. 2 years ago on Google
The secret of this place is unknown: the food is always below mediocre quality (beer old and not cold enough, meat chewy, fries dry, soups hmm...okay), prices are average, stuff is not particularly friendly because of rushing around, flies here and there, not very clean, very loud inside, but all the time this place is full almost to a maximum. I've been there several times with a gap of one year each time, they prove to be consistently bad, that was my last time. Of course for this price you cannot expect extra, but it still could be tasty.

Always an excellent place for a Hungarian meal. Goulash is top notch.

  • 5/5 Bernard P. 2 years ago on Google
A good restaurant that serve very authentic hungarian food. It's better to reserve the restaurant because the restaurant usually is fully occupied by the local. Food come with huge portion and can be shared with two people. Overall, the food is worthy for the price tag

  • 5/5 Marius D. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing food at low prices. Caution: portions are huge. I had a goulash soup (absolutely divine) and cheese filled Turkey breast (absolutely huge). Spent a really nice dinner there. It gets busy quickly so make sure you're there early.
