Not a 4 stars hotel. Overall, not a comfortable experience. Rooms are small, bathroom crowded, very hard mattress. The wardrobe is just a couple of shelves and not enough for 2 people. Toilet flush is very slow, always wondering if it’s going to get clogged. Design and feel is close to Ibis, not Mercure as I have experienced in the past. Breakfast feels cheep with close tables and wrong food labels. The servers are throwing all the table crumbs on the floor when cleaning tables… Even the reception is minimized and there’s only a small round table for the receptionist. Very slow service, feels like they are too cheap to hire more staff. They do their best but for instance one single person for checkin at 9 pm was helpless. We were missing the robe and one set of slippers in the room but they didn’t know where their colleague put them, even though he really tried. The fitness room is outside almost in the street and people keep peeking inside. Some devices weren’t even plugged in or not working. We kept calling for the so-called massage service but there was no answer. Luckily we found another private massage place and it was perfect. Plus things: - the window is opening - location - the staff is nice even though they are too busy

The management would not activate the room air conditioners even though it was 74 degrees outside with 75 percent humidity. Our room was over 85 degrees each day. The shift manager's solution was to give us an oscillating fan and tell us to open the window. The window only opened a few inches (like most European hotels) , so it took until 11pm or so for the room to cool down to a point where you weren't sweating while lying on the bed. That's not where the story ends though, because there is a night club just below the hotel. So you get to hear a DJ and tons of screaming until about 2am. Each time this issue was brought up to the staff we were told to talk to the manager (who never materialized) and that the air conditioning was controlled by central. What is this? The imperial HVAC division? Does Darth Cooler have to approve this? So if you like to sweat for hours after a shower and enjoy sleeping in a sauna, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself (and your relationship) a favor and go anywhere else. Also, don't bother with the priority guest upgrade, it's just stale croissants and a coffee maker. They do have AC in the priority lounge however ... I guess Darth Cooler approved air conditioning for that room... Be very careful in the showers, they are extremely slippery.

Very bad experience all over. The breakfast is very bad quality, the ham is not comestible, the boiled egg is black, one of the traditional red appetisers was rotten, they have no toaster for the bread. The cup for the tea was not washed, could see the leftovers from the previous user. At 8 50 above my room there was hammering and very loud noise, that wakes you up. One of the elevators is broken and the parking takes about 20 min to wait for somebody to come from reception ( they have evening time only one staff) and put for you down a blocker in order to park. They have a construction site next yo the hotel so it's all time noisy. I strongly dint recommend this hotel for the price they are requesting. Bad clients service!

Nice location close to everything. Walking distance to many things, including the Viking cruise port, which was why we we there. Staff was nice. Mattress was hard but surprisingly comfortable even though we normally prefer a softer one. Only minus was the shower control was in the middle of the tub and only a half glass shower enclosure, so had to stand mid-tub to shower and it was too easy to accidentally bump the control and make the water very hot or cold, depending on which way you bumped it. The desk staff spoke English well but not all of the housekeeping staff did. Helpful to have a cell phone translator just in case. We did not eat there so can't speak to the restaurant or food other than a coffee/drink at the bar. Funny thing. Asked for lots of cream for my coffee and got a cup of coffee and a separate cup with whipped cream. Made it work, but they are used to the word "milk" instead of cream. I did let her know that if an American asked for cream that it generally meant half and half ;-)

My experience in this hotel has been positive. I had to make an unplanned reservation while I recovering from injury and the staff has provided exceptional service. I have been treated very well and enjoyed the breakfast buffet that has a great variety of cuisines. My interaction with the food and beverage staff has always been great and it is refreshing to see many smiles each day at an early time. The location is central to all shops, restaurants and sites. I recommend this hotel for those who need a little extra comfort and access to Budapest City Centre.

Really small rooms. The demolition/construction right next to the hotel is terrible. The whole building is a maze, few elevators worked - when we were there. Breakfast is nice, gym too. Friendly hotel staff. Location is as central as it can be.

Stayed at this hotel for a business trip. Service was great from start to finish. Very helpful, really nice bar with great wines etc to relax at the end of the day or night. Great location for popping out in the evening, with plenty of places to eat in the surrounding area.

Great location, bit of putting when dropped off by taxi, you have to walk down an alley and at 2 am not very convincing a welcome, but once inside the hotel was fine. They do have a front door, but it leads onto a pedestrian way very central so cars not allowed up, Our room was very large but had the tiniest bathroom we have ever had. 1 square meter of floor space, but large shower.

I was generally satisfied with the hotel until I checked out. I could not understand whether there is a problem with the systems or the people at the reception. At the time of booking, I gave my card to pay the parking fee, city tax and the room fee for 2 people, and although they took the money from me, they demanded payment again at check out. We said we paid, even though I showed my card statement, they said it was not taken. I had an argument with my wife because of the friends at the reception. and we had to give our card and pay again. I have now contacted my bank and yes you have received the same payment twice. Could something stupid like this happen? I am sending you an e-mail and you do not return it with my account documents. Does it suit a huge mercure hotel? If you do not return to my e-mails as soon as possible, I will seek my rights legally.

We were extremely satisfied with our stay at this hotel. The hotel is right in the middle of everything, yet quiet -Easy access to trains and buses. I'm a Gold member, and it is the first time in 5 weeks in Europe that I got upgraded to access of the lounge. The room was also ready despite us arriving early. It was also We were very happy with our stay.

I had a really nice week-long stay at this location. The staff were excellent. Reception, housekeeping, breakfast hosts - everyone that I interacted with was very kind and professional. Room was clean, modern, and comfortable. Type C outlets with built in USB wall ports in my room, so didn’t end up needing a converter for cell phone charging. Location on Váci utca feels very “alive” with a good amount of foot traffic and a good selection of restaurants and shops within a few blocks. Just a couple blocks from the Danube with beautiful views of Gellért Hill and the National Gallery. I thought that most of the top attractions on the Pest side were pretty walkable, but there is relatively quick access to the buses, trams, and metro if you choose. If you’re headed to the Castle district, you’ll probably want to hop on a bus or tram for part of the journey. Glad I chose to stay here and would certainly return. Nagyon köszönöm Alex

Great location, good service. Room is a bit tiny for 3 of us with a double bed and a sofa bed. Very clean and quiet which I love. Room lights are too dark even though I put them all on. One thing very disappointed me was no hair conditioner. For a modern hotel, how can you provide shampoo but no conditioner? I enjoyed my staying.

The building next door is under construction, so it's a bit of a mess. There are at least three elevators, but the down button on all of them kept breaking during our stay, so we had to press the up button to get down with no other option. You will be charged a city tax when you leave. It's helpful to know this in advance. However, the quality of the breakfast is very good, and the location is very accessible. The staff is friendly and helpful, and even their appearance is great. The rooms are clean and spacious, but the fridge is a bit small, which is a much better option than nothing. It's a place that gives you a good feel for Hungary.

Good location in the shopping street. Nice friendly staff. Rebeka was excellent. Super helpful. We had executive lounge access. Happy hour was so so could have some hot snacks added. Overall a nice place.

A great hotel in Munich, their service is fantastic, the rooms are really good and big and very very clean. Love the fact they use big bottles for shower gel, shampoo etc which are eco friendly and better than the small use and throw ones. The mini bar is free in the room which is a great addition. The food at the restaurant is great and really well made. Great hotel to stay at , would definitely stay here again if in Munich.

Check in was easy. The check in desk provides no modesty for staff working behind the haphazard set up of tables. The breakfast was disappointing with every thing fully automated. We could not get eggs cooked fresh the way we like. It took 20 minutes to get fresh toast cooked due to lack of availability of a toaster. Fully automated machine breakfast = poor experience. It is the first Hotel I've ever stayed at that has no black tea available in the room, with no milk. Once again some service cutting there. Had to retrieve my own milk from the bar. We loved the location of the Hotel and staff were very helpful.

Rooms are clean and nice, a decent fitness center. The best part about this hotel is the location. However, there is some construction going on nearby now so you'd be able to hear them early mornings if you are a light sleeper.

I was travelling for a weekend with a friend and we absolutely loved the hotel. Great location with a 5min walk to the bus to the airport, underground and any other transportation you might need. The room was a good size. The bed was ok, hard on the edges and very soft in the middle but over all comfortable. Breakfast was good and had all we need. The staff was very friendly and always happy to help us with any questions we had. I would book this hotel again.

Location was good, but did not enjoy the stay. Room was tiny. Even in an upgraded "family" room, it was very cramped. Window leaked when it rained. Quite noisy. Bathroom was a joke. Not worth the money. Will not stay again.

Very nice hotel situated in the centre of Budapest staff very friendly and rooms nice and clean. But …. A very big but there’s major building works attached to the hotel in that it looks like a new hotel being built where all the bedrooms are located. we were woken at 0700hrs by extremely loud continual banging and drilling which went on all day. So unless you are an early bird and like being woken by jack hammers at the crack of dawn one to avoid. We booked through love holidays and at no time was this mentioned.

The hotel location was very good, it is located in the center of the city where you can experience the magical Christmas vibe if you go around mid-November. Very accessible to all the shops, restaurants, cathedrals and market fair. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they provide daily room cleaning every single day.

The hotel was well located. It had 2 entrances - wasn't aware of that! Our room was on the 9th level and we didn't have any real noise issues. Heard a few people coming home from their night out that's about it. The shower basin was squishing. For us, the beds were very firm and the pillows flat but we accept that everyone has different preferences and it wasn't forever.

The hotel has a very central location. Many landmarks are within walking distance. The staff was very helpful with our needs at the room as well as our city tour options. The hotel facilitates booking the boat tours as well as hop on hop off bus. However, I recommend booking the boat tour way earlier since they are full very fast. It was the case for us and the lady at the reception gave me the tip that hop on hop off bus ticket also include a boat trip possibility. We stayed at a street facing room which was very comfortable and we did not hear any noise from the street. The amenities in the room were clean except that the carpet was containing some stains.

We arrived at around 1:30 am at the night with a small 7 month old infant after our train got delayed. We were looking forward to get in bed quickly. Unfortunately one of our bookings could not been found in the system by the receptionist. Instead of letting us stay and figure it out the next morning, we were still at the reception past 3am.. At 3:15am we convinced the receptionist to let us stay and resolve the issue. Disappointingly we got woken up at 9am by drilling noises. Very frustrating. In the morning we spoke with the receptionist who was very understanding and already aware of the issue. We were told there was a communication issue between the travel agency and the hotel. And additionally able to change the room to a room without construction noise. Hotel rooms are good, breakfast has a good amount of choices. Just after the unprofessional start of our stay and the short night of sleep we regret staying at the hotel.

This is a nice hotel in a very good location and ease of access to many sites and attractions. The rooms have basic amenities such as a hot water kettle and fridge. Breakfast is decent, but their coffee is horrible. It is very watered down. Even using the espresso option felt like drinking an Americano. The other thing is their gym hours. I wish they had opened earlier than 0700 as most of our trips started at 0700. If coffee or the gym are not important, then overall, the hotel is great.

Yo Whom It May Concern: I intend to travel from Sydney to Budapest. Sometime in October, this year. Looking at options to stay. Not easy. But I always read the reviews first before I book, then the pictures they put on. I noticed they always tend to "apologize" but not sure if the change is made. Many of these hotels charging lot of money for the stay. Much more than would be worth it. Obviously, they want to recover the cost they lost during COVID. Not necessary giving better service for the price. It is all material. I stayed in Vienna in the Mercure. Simple hotel in the middle of the city. Only 3 stars. But service is outstanding. Interesting. Only 300 kms from Budapest, and what a difference. The same Mercure hotels in Budapest rated 4 stars and have many low rated reviews. When I look at the review I always look at the lowest ratings first. I want to know if I go there, what to expect. Then slowly go up and see the rest of it. I think hotels really should be re-rated and the rating revised. many 4 and 5 star hotels have sub standards. I am going to look into this and turn some stones over. If anything can be done to finally reflect reality in the hotel industries. I have not stayed here yet, this is just a general observation of the comments given, but frankly, scared to make the booking. And most likely there will not be any refund for dissatisfaction.

I would like to recommend the Mercure Budapest City Center hotel to everyone. Why? Central location, convenient communication, super friendly service and everything at the highest level. In a special way, I would like to thank Mr. JÀNOS from the restaurant (he was present at breakfast) for his kindness, empathy and willingness to help at every step. His interest and willingness to support us was invaluable !!! Thank you for your support and for long, fantastic conversations. It is a pity that there are not many such Jànos !!!

Nice hotel on the whole with an amazing location. The extra bed provided (travelling with 2 children) was very disappointing - it should be much more comfortable, especially considering the 'level' of hotel. In addition, the room was very warm and the air-conditioning did not seem to work.

This was a perfect stop on our first part of our trip the hotel staff work together very well the room they gave us a junior suite was perfect it had two bathrooms and a sauna great coffee machine great bathroom lotions and soap and shampoo TV had A few English channels which was really good for us. the breakfast was good and we had access to the privilege room we couldn’t ask for a better location and comfort which this hotel had their are many restaurants nearby from the top of the line to casual shopping transportation all within minutes from the hotel highly recommend this as a stop on your trip to Budapest

Great location that puts you right in the middle of everything. Rooms are well appointed and the restaurant and bar are good if you don't want to wander farther, but there are plenty of very good bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Staff are very welcoming and helpful when asking for directions. The room was clean, simplistic and comfortable. The hotel is super central and all the tourist spots easy to get to. Breakfast contained alot of pork which ment not alot of cooked food options.

Another great stay at this central hotel. New rooms and new look at a very reasonable price. Only downside worth mentioning is the use of square pillows in-room. I would prefer rectangular pillows for sleeping foe obvious reasons.

Great location. I mean the hotel is exactly city center in pedestrian street. You cannot go wrong with this hotel location . They only have to fix the elevator problem. Too little and too small for such a big hotel. The good thing is that they were working on it . Most probably improvements on the way . Besides that the hotel is very good for a trip to Budapest .

Updated version: ****WAIT UNTIL THEY FINISH CONSTRUCTION TO STAY AT THUS HOTEL**** Every morning we have early construction right outside the window, the noise is quite bothersome but not as much as when there is some at 4:45AM! Drilling, breaking, all you want, it’s not for light sleepers. Original review: Check in was a disaster. The receptionist could not have hidden any worse her annoyance at seeing customers arrive and was unpleasant and not informative. The rooms were not ready on time and we were made to come back an hour later to find a lobby of 30 people with no organisation. They did not split the new check ins from those who were just after their keys and it was 45+ min wait again to just get the key. The “compensation” offered (and only because we chased it after being told once we’d get something and never hearing back) was a glass of wine, a beer or a tea/coffee. Same member of staff as initial check-in, still unpleasant. Bedrooms come with a bottle of still water, they will not give you a second one for free. Ridiculous that such a hotel wouldn’t accommodate giving guests free water. Breakfast was disorganized as well with refill of foods taking 15-20min. Overall, the hotel seems to have taken more guests than what their staff can handle and they also need to think of providing hospitality and customer care training to some of them. They should also remember how offering basic amenities (water for gods sake) could go a long way. Not good enough for the price, would not recommend in high season, maybe better at other times? Update: manager of the hotel contacted me, excuses here and there and small compensation offered.

Before everything I have to say that location is pefect. Now my opinion: 1. I am a club member, reception didn't mention anything about it, and more than that, she manttion if we register for membership we will get welcome drink everyday, I told her I already have, she say so maybe for him (my partner) really? What a shame! 2. You should mention in a big marker that on the hotel there is big construction!!! Why to hide such an important issue? 3. My room was in the left side, the minimum you could do on my cheek in is to show me the elevator behind the reception who leads to my room side. And also to explain about the 2 side of the entrance that give so much benefits to the hotel. 4. The air conditioner at the room makes so much noise!!! I do like the fact that I ask to put me far away of the construction and you did. I do like the location as I already mentioned I do like the hot water in the shower, it was nice that it not necessary to play with the hit, it seems like you set the temperature directly on the right hit. The body shower gel and shampoo was smell so good, it was now to get conditioner as well. This is not my first time in the chain and I like the chain, work on smile and kindness with the employees they need it. In total 8/10. I will return.

This hotel did not leave a very good impression on my family. The mattresses are extremely firm. If you like firm mattresses, then good; if not this is not the best place. It is at the center of Pest. The location is good. The shower had an odd layout. The faucet was in an odd location at knee level where you are standing. It is easy to accidentally bump it while showering; this led to several bruises. Additionally, the shower controls are very sensitive which made it so if you do bump the controls, it can either scald you or freeze you in an instant. The shower pressure was great though (meaning not weak). The front desk was not helpful. Checking in was a nightmare. Parking. Unlike every other hotel, you have to reserve parking in advance and hope they have space. Their parking is very limited and hard to get to on a one way road. This is not a good place to try and park. If you cannot get parking there, the closest parking is relatively close—the problem with that was it is down a series of one way roads. Rush hour makes it nearly impossible to get there quickly. Plan on carving out a couple hours to park elsewhere if you need to park elsewhere while staying here. The air conditioning works well. There was no hot water the third night of our stay. We tried at various points throughout the night and the next morning and could not get any. Entrances. There are 2 entrances. One is on a pedestrian street, the other on a street with a one way road. We found out after a long day that at night the pedestrian street side, where most people come in, is closed. That meant that we needed to walk around the corner through a dark, narrow alley in order to get in. -There is no “front desk” per say. You have to look for a front table. Just thought I would mention that so anyone who stays there knows what to look for. Overall it was not a good experience. It gets 2 stars rather than 1 because the room was clean, there was running water, and the location was close to transit.

The room is tiny but still comfortable. The worst part was when I turned on the Air Conditioner - even at the lowest speed was too noisy, and I couldn't sleep with it turned on. I asked my friends who were in different rooms, and they did have the same experience. The location is great. The breakfast was also good. A lot of ants on the front door of the room and in the room.
