I’m still so sad that I had to live here for the whole month. My friend checked this house before my arriving and landlord showed her only beatiful part of the house, but when I arrived I was given disgusting small room in the basement. It was full of dust and web, a small carpet had top level of human hair and dust. I was provided not the kitchen from website photos, but another one with mold, web and other beauties. Bathroom was a bit better, just dirty. Also almost every day there was renovation in this basement. I expected to be on the light clean floor which you can find in the pictures in the internet, but landlord lied to me and to my friend. He even didn’t show all of this before I gave a money. So I was very depressed the first several days there. Please be careful, better to select accommodation where people have some conscience.

Negative Cleaning is not a priority. At arrival in the evening we mentioned that something was leaking in the refrigerator. The owner didn't seam to be impressed and just told to use another refrigerator while his employees were just chatting in the same room. Also the bathroom was not clean, hairs, soap and toothpaste was there already for awhile. When I think of the condition of the refrigerator and bathroom only words like disgusting comes up. After discussing this terrible situation with the owner he explained that the employees still have to be trained. I feel bad, my wife didn't use the bathroom and he is still thinking about training. I think the whole hostel needs a deep cleaning. The bunk beds are very noisy, mattresses and pillows are thin. The carpet in our room wasn't clean, multiple stains which could be cleaned once awhile. Positive The location is a bit out of center in a residential area. Very quiet with many shops and supermarkets at walking distance. The dorm we stayed was spacious. The hostel has a big garden and I can imagine how nice this is in summertime. The owner is very talkative and helpful. The kitchen has everything you need. Free towels for your stay which were forgotten in our case. Laundry service @ 5€ for a 6kg load which is also a big plus when you travel already for a while.

The rooms are comfy clean and silent. The garden is a good place to hang out and relax. Within 10 min you reach a train station, from where you can take the metro to Budapest center, so don't let the locations are you away from this awesome place. The owner is a long time backpacker himself, those people always create the best hostels. Had some good conversations and a few beers with him.

All of the beds are uncomfortable and one of the beds sounded like the roof was falling down when the person moved in it. The owner did nothing even after complain. None of thr activities that are stated on the webpage actually happens

The main reason I booked here was to be close-ish to the bus station.... But unfortunately, on asking the owner if I could hang out there in the kitchen or garden (the only social spaces) until the worst of the days heat was over, so I could catch my bus later in the evening, he flat out refused. "No. There is no space here, and we have a full house tonight. Checkout is 11am and you must be off the property by 12 midday." This was a flat out lie, as I asked his volunteer staff and they said they had 4 beds free in the six bed dorm available still. I came back at 3pm to grab my bag and the place was still totally empty. On asking if I could at least leave my bag there for a few hours, he seemed put out and said "if you have to, but you must pick it up before 8pm and have to leave it in the hallway, but you can't stay" Now....all this was when he could clearly see I am injured and having a lot of trouble walking as I broke my walking stick the night before I arrived at the hostel, and still have to use it without the handle until I can find a new one long enough for me to use.....so his behaviour to a disabled person is absolutely disgusting and appalling! As for the rest of the place....the beds are basic and a little uncomfortable, but tolerable. They have only 8 small lockers, not big enough for even small day packs, and nowhere else secure or out of the way to store your bag. The dorm is in an old livingroom, as the hostel is actually a house, so the kitchen is the next room and quite noisy in the morning and night.... There is also some outside noise from the main road and barking dogs, because the windows must stay open due to no fans in the dorm. They have a serious fly and mosquito problem, probably because the "pool" is half dismantled and left in the yard with puddles of water as a breeding place for mosquitos....so there is no pool. The volunteer staff were actually pretty nice and polite though, in total contrast to the very rude owner. I regret ever choosing to stay there, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone....purely based on the abysmal attitude of the owner. His dishonesty in dealing with reviews, is to try have negative ones removed, its just shady. Any review he doesn't like, he responds to with lies, and attempts to have them removed, instead of attending to the issues like a mature business man. I was extremely disappointed with this behaviour, even if the actual stay was rough but tolerable for a night.

Very nice and quiet place in the midst of nature. So I can not fail to note the polite and good-natured host, he will always help you and guide you on the right path. I can definitely recommend this place to absolutely everyone.

Probably the best thing about this place is that you can feel at home, the owner is very friendly and helpful in everything you need. There is also a beautiful garden where you can relax and enjoy nature. It’s not an ordinary hostel, so the feeling is more like a home environment. The place is kinda far from the tourist area, but there is a bus/train station very close to there and there are also plenty of supermarkets and shops around, so in the end, it’s not a problem because during the day you live tourism and at night and in the morning you have home vibes so for me it’s a good balance According to comfort, the price/quality ratio is fair. In general, the atmosphere is very good and you will want to back.

I would recommend this place to everyone! It was a great experience and I will visit it again for sure when I’m in Budapest next time. Also, it’s a pet-friendly hostel, which was a great perk for me :)

My stay in Budapest Garden hostel was memorable, I had the opportunity to stay for a month and I met a lot of wonderful people, it is an atmosphere suitable for backpackers and different kinds of travelers around the world to shared their experiences and cultural differences , I had a lot of fun, and I could learn some interesting things about Hungarian culture and history talking with the owner of the hostel, It is located in a nice calm neighborhood and close to a big station where you can take the subway or the tram to go to the city center, or where you can also take a train to visit several places outside of the city.

Stayed there nearly a week and had lovely chats in the evening. Very jovial and open space, relaxed. Balasz is a great guy and runs the place

No questions this place is one of the best in Budapest, has the original meaning of Hostel what means a community, living together since the morning till the night. As an extra, the place is really beatiful, has a small garden with same tables and chairs, sometimes they do grill parties and there is a pool aswell. Anything important can be reached really easily by a 5-10 minutes ride of the metro, the station is only a short walk away from the house.

If your travel plans change which is normal and can happen to anybody in these times specially, I donot recommend this hostel at all. I booked it for 3 nights. I could not make to Budapest on that day due to accidental travel plan change and informed the property before the mentioned checkin time and mentioned I will be checking on the 2nd day but they cancelled my booking regardless. I donot recommend this for students specially as you can loose all your booking payment amount even though you book for a week or two and miss your checkin time they can cancel the entire booking and leave you out nowhere.

This hostel is perfect to escape the city and be in a green area. It has a beautiful garden where you can enjoy a cold beer and socialize with other guests. If you like sports, you can rent a bike to explore nature or go to the city. It’s not a long ride. The staff is very nice, always willing to help and make you feel at home. They provide good information to visit famous and good places in Budapest. You can also enjoy homemade Hungarian food that they serve once a week for little money. Recommended!

I have stay here and I had so much fun! Best experience I had in the wonderful Budapest. This hostel is one of a kind, perfect if you are on the lookout for a place in nature with a very relax atmosphere. Everyone was friendly including the staff and guests. All of them become your friends and even a family so it feels like home from the first day! I really loved to meet people from all around the world and spend time with them everyday. We also had many different activities to get everyone together like outdoor dinners (with delicious hungarian dishes), pool parties (yes there is a pool!), bike/walking tours discovering the city and its nightlife, and much more! The courtyard/garden is just amazing! Perfect for a yoga session, chill out and take some sun during the morning or have a beer and play some music in the afternoon. The lights by night gives the garden a cosy atmosphere where you can hang around and make friends! It is also pet friendly like no other hostel in town!. Finally what makes this hostel unique, besides the garden, is the variety of people you can meet! World travelers, artists, students, etc... So if you like to meet many international, interesting, inspiring, lovely people this hostel is the right place for you. ;) Its was hard to say goodbye from such a lovely place but I keep the memories that are gonna last forever! I definitely would come back here. Köszönöm for everything guys :)

Me and my wife travelled to Budapest and decided to stay in this lovely hostel. We were pleasantly surprised by nice personell fluent in English and aware of some our Slavice brethren languages. The house where hostel is situated has a large garden with a lot various trees offering both nice shadow and a possibility to rest and have some barbecue. With Balász we also had opportunity to exchange some historical and political views :-)

Regardless there are doors with pin lock they are never closed and property reminds wide open day and night. Staff seems to be permanently hanged over. The address on google maps and hostel world is not precise and people get lost. Common area is loud up to 3am so it is difficult to get decent rest. Staff claims to be knowledgeable but after a few questions it was obvious that they don't know what they are talking about. Easy things like lokal transport are ok, however if you have problem to solve they won't have a clue.

The best hostel! More than amazing place to live in! I had one of the great moments in Budapest Garden Hostel; especially the way how the owner deals with guests, that huge amount of respect, calmness around, and enough space that could make feel you live in a private apartment.

It’s funny, but always when I was in this hostel it was shining - I don't know if it's due to Hungary or the Budapest Garden Hostel? I don't know and I will probably never find out, but I know one thing for sure - I will come back there many times! Cheers to the owners 💗

Definitely recommend this place, I loved the time there. Beautiful, clean rooms, spacious garden, good connection to the centre, but mainly amazing atmosphere in the hostel! Staffs were very helpful and kind. They organize events and dinners for all guests, I felt like home there. Have to come back soon otherwise I would miss it.

Located in Buda side this family style home lies in a superb location, away from the noise & bustle of downtown but next to a major transport hub. Not only will you find yourself nestled in the beautiful greenery & rolling hills of Buda but you will find you are close to the most charming town that can easily be discovered from the hostel ( Budaors) For nature lovers, you have several hiking areas nearby surrounded by the most scenic views and stunning villas. For non nature lovers the largest/ newest mall in all of BU is located just 2 bus stops away. Staff absolutely makes the guest feel they are not only guest staying temporarily but part of a community.
