Buda Castle (Hungarian: Budavári Palota, German: Burgpalast) is the historical castle and palace complex of the Hungarian kings in Budapest. It was first completed in 1265, but the massive Baroque palace today occupying most of the site was built between 1749 and 1769. The complex in the past was referred to as either the Royal Palace (Hungarian: Királyi-palota) or the Royal Castle (Hungarian: Királyi Vár, German: Königliche Burg). The castle now houses the Hungarian National Gallery and The Budapest History Museum. Buda Castle sits on the southern tip of Castle Hill, surrounded by the touristic area known as Várnegyed (Castle Quarter), which is famous for medieval, Baroque and Neoclassical houses, churches, public buildings, and monuments. The hill is linked to Clark Ádám Square and the Széchenyi Chain Bridge by the Castle Hill Funicular. The castle is a part of the Budapest World Heritage Site, so declared in 1987.[1] The original Royal Palace was ruined during WWII, it was rebuilt in a simplified Stalin Baroque style during the Kádár era.

The castle is really beautiful, and I went up the hill to see amazing views from there. It was so worth it! If you prefer, you can also take a funicular to reach the top. This way, you'll have a fun and easy ride up to enjoy the breathtaking sights. No matter how you get there, the castle's beauty and the stunning views will leave you amazed. It's a great experience!

I was a little worried about the weather as it rained the night before but the sun stood strong and we were graced with a beautiful view of the city. Entrance to the museum was free due to the public holiday and going up to the top of the tower was not a long wait either once we got to the top we were definitely not disappointed. You do have to be prepared to leave any large bags and coats behind in a free cloakroom. There was about 2/3 minute queue for this. They do allow you to take your phone up through the museum. It may have been because of the public holiday that we were also graced with seeing a short parade outside the main entrance - which was fun and then they stopped for a photo shoot! There are two lifts that will take you up from the bottom to the top which is great for those who are hard of walking or with young families. There was hardly any queue for this. That also steps that can take you up. There are some construction work going on, but this does not take away from any of experience. Definitely worth coming out to see this. We did not buy any food/drinks- so cannot comment on this

Magical and majestic! You can easily explore this phenomenal castle all day. Still, it won't be enough - you'll want to come back the next day. Great place for a walk, for photos, for rest. Unique atmosphere, so beautiful and magnetic. Incredible panoramic views of the Danube and Pest!

Awesome palace with many things to see for free.and great view towards Danube River. No worse than the view from the freedom citadel. Hiking takes around 10 minutes, I don't think the cabin escalator is that worth it, but if you want to try it - know there will be a line for it! I mostly liked.the view, but there are also galleries and exhibitions, among the thousands of people 😂

Lovely castle and a most see tourist attraction. Offering a great panoramic view of Budapest from multiple viewing points. Explore the premises and enjoy the architecture, sculptures and lively garden. You can visit the castle grounds throughout the week at all times, without a ticket. The national gallery and the historic museum have their opening hours and you need to purchase individual ticket for each.

Beautiful palace in a beautiful city. It is like a fairy tale, across the bridge in the Danube. But the walk is long, and the castle is uphill; although there are that lovely gardens on the way, that distance under the sun can be daunting. From Pest can be easily one hour or more walking -in my experience, because the chain bridge was closed- so it may be a good idea buying tickets for the tourist bus or hiring a taxi. Up in the castle, there are restrooms and many little cute restaurants. Not to be missed in Budapest.

A must see place to visit whilst in Budapest, you can walk up the hill , get on the little trailer if you get the bus tour or the more fun way is the Siklo ( Funicular) rail carriage . The views at the top are spectacular.

Great place to spend some time. The art gallery inside can be viewed in about 2-3 hours if you take your time. You can also climb the dome and get a view of the city from above. The gardens outside were in maintenance, but you can still find a lot of great places to take some photos. There are 2 cafes inside and one souvenir shop. Overall great experience and worth visiting

The Budapest Castle District, a jewel nestled atop Castle Hill, offers a mesmerizing blend of history and architectural grandeur. As you wander through its cobbled streets, the diverse array of architectural styles, from medieval to baroque, tells a story of the city's rich past. At the heart of the district, the magnificent Matthias Church stands as a testament to Gothic architecture, its intricate spires and colorful roof tiles creating a captivating skyline. The interior of the church is equally impressive, adorned with stunning frescoes and stained glass that transport visitors to a bygone era. Just a stone's throw away, the Fisherman's Bastion offers breathtaking views of the Danube and the Pest side of the city, its fairytale-like turrets and arches evoking a sense of whimsy and wonder. Adjacent to these historic marvels is the Hungarian National Gallery, housed in the grand Buda Castle. This gallery is a treasure trove of Hungarian art, showcasing a vast collection that spans from medieval times to contemporary works. The seamless blend of history and art within the gallery's walls provides an insightful glimpse into the cultural heritage of Hungary. As you stroll through the Castle District, the charming boutiques and quaint cafes add to the area's allure, inviting visitors to relax and soak in the atmosphere. Overall, the Budapest Castle District is not just a historical site but an enchanting experience that leaves a lasting impression with its stunning architecture, rich history, and vibrant cultural scene.

Simply amazing. It's what you must see when you visit Budapest. Unfortunately, though, we visited it, last week and it was full with workers everywhere. Hopefully, this was because they were getting ready for Christmas, otherwise, they should end their works really soon, it was a bummer. Other than that, it's a wonderful place. You can get there with the metro or even on foot. The view is breathtaking. Really pretty place.

By night the castle looks great, but when you get there by day the situation changes. The palace looks like no one is taking care of it - the walls on some parts have the painting fallen. We only went in the yard of castle, in front of it. The entering gate was very beautiful, with sculptures on it and a very nice fence. Inside the castle is an art museum. The place is full of tourists.

This place was amazing and beautiful. Take the option of going up the hill on the cable car, very cool experience. Went to the wine festival at the castle. WINE FESTIVAL AT A CASTLE. Basically I'm a knight now, Sir Drinksalot. Anyway, the castle at night is incredible but, the view of the Danube... Wow! Definitely go check it out.

I only had the experience of walking around the Castle and it was amazing. One of my best days in whole Europe. The view of the Castle and its beauty it's amazing. Being on the hill, you have also a really beautiful view of the Budapest landscape with the Danube running in front of it, the Parliament, the Cathedral and a little from the Fisherman's Bastion. My suggestion is, if you have time, go visit and enjoy an afternoon around the Castle and the surroundings.

All I can say is, check it out for yourselves. The views will absolutely rock your world and if you're like me and love taking pictures, then prepare to take over a dozen on the awesome panoramic views.

SO impressive! Beautiful architecture and clearly lots of improvement work being done - it will be amazing when finished 😍 I'd have liked to have a tour but it wasn't very clear what was available. The main building looked closed and there weren't any staff milling around to ask. We had a bite to eat in the cafe on-site. The food and drinks were good quality and very reasonably priced considering where it was (they usually sting you in those places, don't they! 😬), so yes, a nice experience. I'd go again if in Budapest 👍🏾

Must visit place! Every inches of this city is really beautiful and even more to see them from up top! And the best part is, there is escalator and elevator for those who doesn't want to and/or can't climb the stairs. The way they make things convenient for tourist to go up there easier is very generous! Definitely one of the free place you can go to in Budapest!

Great structure on the top of mountain, beside the river Danube. Sprawling across a large area. The views are breathtaking. You can either take a fernacular or walk. The walking is not too tiring and you get to see a few viewpoints as well. I have not entered the museum and hence cannot comment. But the place was empty early in the morning, like 8:30 AM. Also the bus 16 is the best option to visit the castle from the Pest part of the city. This bus directly links to Tram 2. Overall, great experience.

One of the most iconic buildings of Budapest, the castle is rich with history and culture. It's currently being used as a museum and art gallery. One of my biggest regrets of the trip is not being able to go inside due to time constraints. Will definitely return.

Right now some construction is going on. You can not visit inside as a castle because it was looted during WWII but you can visit the museums inside. Outside it is beautiful to visit in early morning and the evening when the light are on (they turnoff the lights at 10pm). The view of the city from here is phenomenal.

Monday there is no entry inside castle, other days it will open at morning 10 o clock. Night view of the castle is awesome with lights. And morning sunrise also beautiful from here

I visited the Castle walking with my friends from Marriott hotel on the other side of the river. The green dome on top of the building is obvious from most of the areas in Budapest. I enjoyed watching every details during my walk. There are a lot of locations to take nice memorable pictures. Make sure you visit the Fountain of King Matthias. This historical building has a lot of art works that will make it such an experience. The building design is amazing. The location of the Buda castle in top of a hill.

Great place, well organised, a lot of animals from all countries around the world. Easy ticketing service, parking the car was easy to find nearby. One problem though.... inside there is no way to pay by card. It is not ok, especially when you go with your family. Cash only inside if you want to buy food or water. A big minus for this.

We did not go in to the castle but we enjoyed walking around the grounds and the gardens. The views were spectacular. It was very busy so you can’t be in a rush. The bridges get jammed up as you can walk in either directions however people stop to take photos. There are a lot of renovations going on right now but many sign boards that explain what they are doing and why.

Buda Castle, atop Castle Hill in Budapest, Hungary, has a storied past. Dating to the 13th century, it served as a royal residence, experienced battles, and underwent reconstructions. World War II inflicted damage, but restoration followed. Today, Buda Castle shines as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, hosting museums and galleries while providing breathtaking city views. Welcome, dear visitors, to Castle Hill's embrace, Where Buda Castle stands, a beacon of grace. With walls steeped in history, secrets untold, I unfold my story, a tale to behold. Once a fortress strong, guarding lands afar, Now I welcome you beneath the twinkling stars. Through the centuries, battles waged and won, Witness to triumphs, and sorrows undone. Majestic and proud, atop the hill I stand, Offering vistas of Budapest, so grand. Marvel at my splendor, the architecture's art, Each stone, each cobble, a masterpiece's part. From my vantage point, embrace the panorama, Bridging past and present with a touch of drama. Feel the breeze whisper tales of long ago, As the city beneath me continues to grow. Dear visitors, cherish this sacred ground, Where time's tapestry and beauty are found. Buda Castle awaits, a heritage to share, Come, explore, and in its grandeur, be aware. Welcome to Castle Hill, where memories awake, May your journey here be one you'll never forsake. Immerse in the splendor, embrace the history's call, Buda Castle's heart, to one and all.

We visited the museum that is hosted inside the building and it was nice. We were just a bit disappointed because there was only one reconditioned room which was indeed exquisite and with many architectural details. The audio guide concentrated on this room and it was quite surprising to find out that there was nothing left from the original old room, everything was a copy. We recommend at least visiting the yard of the building since this is free and worth it. Otherwise, the price was a bit high for what we saw compared to other museums in Europe.

An evening well spent in Buda Castle. A place with perfect blend of history, work of art and magnificent landscape view of entire the Pest side. A pure European marvel to behold. A mug of beer during evening is really refreshing while enjoying the breathtaking view of Budapest from the castle. Trolley ride is also quite adventurous attraction for all ages. Though we preferred to take stairs to climb the hill to reach the castle which is not very hectic.

One of the busiest tourist attractions in Budapest but still worth the viewpoint. You can go the furnicular for views of the Chain bridge, or you could walk up the hill. I suppose there is a inside to castle but most people don't go in. There is a changing of the guard ceremony if you're lucky to be there at that time. Pus fisherman's Bastian is only walking distance. You get great views of Buda from the back of cast grounds as well.

The best zoo I've been to so far. The variety of animals is amazing. We've walked inside the zoo for around 5 hours and still didn't see everything. The zoo is very well kept, it's very clean and the signs are clear. There's a helpful map (you'll need it, it's a very big place with lots of paths going everywhere) and an information booth in the entrance. For families this is the perfect place to go. Even if you get tired of the zoo there is a very pretty park outside with lots of things to see and lots of playgrounds. It was a fun day for our family.

I give it 3 stars because I have visited the schönbronne zoo in Vienna, firstly, the design of the zoo and access to the different animals needs some changes to facilitate the transition from species to another. However, the zoo has variety of animals and other activities. Different restaurants and soft drinks shops are also available but of expensive prices. For the children, you can hire a small car to pull it and you can access most of the places with it.

(Translated by Google) As a child, I was greatly influenced by the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden. Due to weather factors, it was always planned to visit once a year, which was set for the period from late spring to early autumn. If we want continuous operation, it is inevitable that there will always be areas that are closed or under conversion. And it is not the fault of the zoo that, due to human behavior, newborn or offspring animals, possibly breeding birds, have to be excluded from visitors. I exchanged tickets for fear of previous negative comments, but I did not regret it. A significant part of the zoo can be visited and can still be a full day program if one wants to see everything. I don’t see it in operation, but I think it would take more staff and not start big giga projects (see the case of Pannon Park and Biodom) while there is plenty to develop. It is indeed true that many animals have small catwalks or places. The tigers are obviously not in the best skin, they are thin enough to be seen when they are walking. A significant portion of the zoo is indeed nicely maintained and beautiful (see Palm House, Butterfly House, Angry House, etc.), while some are really tasteless. Where pelicans are dirty, the same is true of the small lake in the Japanese Garden. At Pákásztanya, you can really barely see through the glass, and this is true of penguins, Polar bears, and seals. I didn't raise the ticket price, that was enough for me (HUF 3,300). The question is how the epidemic will affect the Zoo and how the Pannon Park and related Biodom project will proceed. I am afraid that if it is completed, a significant price increase could occur. Before that, however, it would not hurt to remedy the problems mentioned above.

In front of the Danub river having the city under your sight, But also sad and melancholic because of what have happened to the royal families and the kings at that time. I don’t know much about hungrys history but You could see the statues that supposed to demonstrate the power and strength got dust over and lost parts, ruined. I can immagine that it was a huge pride to pass over the pebbles of the castle at that time in history…😔

If you are in Budapest, make sure you make time for this place. The view from the castle ground is outstanding. A great place to learn the castle history too! We came during sunset and loved it!

It is an amazing builng or I should say combo of buildings. Such a special architecture, amazing view, very special historical monument. It is worth having a walk around and see a series of special buildings in this area. For example, the recently renovated stable of the castle. This was my second time in Budapest an hence the castle, and I was still amazed

A lovely place to visit with much of historical information, including photographs, statues, and architecture. Wear comfortable shoes because this is a large area to roam around in, and admission to the museum requires the purchase of a ticket. Free entry to Castle.

Great tourist spot to visit. It is located near ‘Fisherman Bastion’ and ‘Mathias Church’. Easy to reach, it’s offering a complete experience thorough part of Hungarian history, along with a great view of Danube and Budapest City! I do recommend!

So beautiful! Absolutely a must-see in Budapest. The architecture is stunning and the castle grounds are lovely to walk around on a nice, sunny day. There are great views of the city from above on the castle’s balconies, also. The few staff that we spoke to were very kind too which was a pleasant bonus!

A very popular and touristy place to visit when visiting Budapest. The Buda Castle is a place with rich history, great culture and fantastic views of the city. You can either walk up or take the funicular up to the attraction; however I would skip the funicular (there’s a cost to it) as the distance is not that big. There’s a museum here that you can visit, however if you are not a fan of the museum stuffs, this place is still highly recommended just purely for the views of the city! A must visit attraction! Highly recommend!

Buda Castle! We went early to walk up in the cool of the day. Beautiful vistas of the Danube and Pest side of the city. We chose not to enter the castle (tickets $$) but enjoyed the vantage from several viewpoints. From there we went to fisherman’s bastion and the national gallery.

This place feels like it’s straight from Harry Potter. It’s so crazy big & so much more beautiful in person. Pictures really does not do it justice. There is a Starbucks on grounds & some gelato stands as well if you get hungry. The architecture is absolutely insane though. It took us half the day to walk around the outside & we didn’t even go inside!

Great views and lovely buildings being restored. Access to the palace is here and the gallery but these are charged. The castle isn't. There is a funicular also available at a cost or lifts free of charge if you struggle with steps.

The castle was a little disappointing actually. The outside was beautiful however we went in the pouring rain so were hoping to have lots to see inside and this wasn't really the case. Only one room in the castle had been redone to look like the original, the rest was just a museum.

Daniel was a great guide. He shared his country's history with me. Showed me the newer buildings versus the older & how to tell the difference. He tried teaching me how their language is pronouncated... each vowel, depending on how it is to be expressed. He told me about Hungarian food/what's in it/recipe ideas. The grocery store and different home grown/made spices/alcohol. How it got its name. The details about Matthias Church, who he was, and how he came to be. A great coffee/cake place (best coffee since I've been here)! Daniel was very pleasant and patient. Very intellectual. Showed great pride and enthusiasm in the tour & his country.

There are many monuments within the compound including Holy Trinity Statue, St Stephen Statue, the beautiful Matthias Church among others. There is also great panoramic view of the city from the hilltop. A must see in Budapest. Unesco Heritage Site

A very impressive building, or collection of buildings on a hill with quite the spectacular view! Changing of the guards is always a good show, I didn’t use the fenicular, but if you don’t want to walk up that’s a good option for you. Museum was interesting, very much a maze of corridors, stairs and tunnels but all good. You can walk the grounds for free but need to pay a small amount for the museum, no bags allowed in the museum but lockers are provided for free.

Great historical building, a must visit! The view from the castle is also beautiful. The museum's permanent exhibition is worth visiting if you like 19th century, impressionism and modern art. You approximately spent 1.5 hours looking at all the works. At the top floor, you can excess the dome and have a view around the castle. However, you cannot go outside, so it is not a panoramic view.

Buda Castle (Budavári Palota) is the historical castle and palace complex of the Hungarian Kings in Budapest. Who did not see or visit him when he was in Budapest? Built in the 13th century, the first castle was located on the south spur of Castle Hill to provide protection from attacks by Mongols and Tartars. The current incarnation of Buda Castle (Budavári Palota), also sometimes called the Castle Palace, is a massive 18th-century, Neo-Baroque-style structure of more than 200 rooms. The castle proudly rises above the Danube River on the Buda side in its beauty. Every time we are in the city we love spending time walking around Buda Castle. Buda and Pest, two cities are merged into one unit. One on the hill, and the other in the valley. On the Buda side is the easiest to reach by funicular (Budavari siklo), which you bring to Várhegy, known as the hill where is the Buda Castle (Budai var). With its lookout you will have a true royal view of Pest, Danube and numerous city bridges, one of which is the oldest, but also the most beautiful, chain Bridge (Lanc hid). The atmosphere is always good and relaxing although sometimes be a lot of visitors. The castle now houses the Hungarian National Gallery and The Budapest History Museum. Needless to say that it is necessarily worth the visit.

Very beautiful Zoo. I was a bit sad, because probably due to coronavirus pandemic my favourite animals (giraffes) were far away from their normal place. But other things were ok. I hope I will see it again some day 🙂

  • 4/5 Boglárka B. 3 years ago on Google
It is a very informative and interactive Zoo. Not my favourite in Hungary, simply because it is a bit crowded and it is in the middle of the city and the railway is just next to it. That probably stresses the animals a lot. Also at the moment 1/3 of it is closed down, that might be useful information. I recommend the langos place on top of the cliffs, the pricing is a bit high, but the food is good.

The place and the view from castle is beautiful. The management though... In poorly done and over price ticket. Take one of the picture I post for example, they put writing behind automatically door. It's extremely annoying having to read through while the door keep opening and shutting itself. There is no proper guide line for the museum. It's felt like everything is all over the place. The reception sold us the ticket for half a price cause it was close to closing time but once we got into the museum. We were not let in to some part because it was closed already. 2000s HUF was a complete waste

One of the most beautiful places in Budapest. This is a must go location for tourists! You can walk around this beautiful place that is very nice and historic. Also you are on a mountain and you have the most amazing views up there every direction you look in! There are many ways to get up there and it's even made more accessible than in the past! There are elevators, escalators, walkways, busses and stairs. There even is a train like thing that can bring you up for a small price with amazing vieuws! I least recommend going up with a bus. All the other ways are way more beautiful! And even walking isn't hard!

  • 5/5 Ádám M. 2 years ago on Google
The view from there is astonishing, one of the best one in Budapest. It's better in the afternoon as it gives you a clear view to the pest side. Taking picture of Buda side is contraindicated, as the sun shines from that direction and also a large piece is close because of contructions. Walking up really was worth it, but with construction on Clark Adam ter and Lanchid it lost its value. Budavari siklo is out of order, I don't know until when. To get up, you can go from Varkert bazar, with elevator then changing to a lift. To get down, we couldn't find better option than walk.

Such an amazing place to visit. Unfortunately the funicular is not working until mid Jan but the walk up the hill is really acceptable, not tiring at all. We walked around & took many pictures. Enjoyed the architecture & the gardens as well as the view overlooking the Danube to the Pest side.

It is a very nice castle museum. I particularly liked the exposition of the Hungarian painting of the XVIIIe century which is located on the second floor if my memory is correct. The building is beautiful and the view from the cupola is great. It gives a good overview of the city and its buildings.

One of 'must visit' places in Budapest. One part is under reconstruction, but still beautiful place. Don't use elevator or bus - walk throw Budim to feel this part of city. Walk throw all Buda castle - great experience. All houses in different colors with great history. Also, visit the cathedral - monumental building

  • 4/5 Miles M. 1 year ago on Google
Buda Castle is actually a collection of buildings with the main "communist looking" block containing the Art Gallery and History Museum (different tickets). The grounds are free to visit with well kept garden area. Parts of the site are under development with the aim to restore/reconstruct buildings to their original plans before destruction by the World Wars and conversion under Russian occupation. Both the Art Galleries and History Museum are well worth visiting along with the beautifully restored St Stephen's Hall, a separate part of the History museum. Access to the Castle is via various means. There is an escalotor on the East side and lift on the West side whicg raises you most of the way. Also the Funicular near the Building which now houses the President's Office. But if you are physically able, it's nice to walk up the hill through the grounds.

  • 5/5 Ljubiša K. 1 year ago on Google
Really nice place with an art gallery. This is a really nice place to rest a bit before you continue to Bastion or the city center. If you are looking for a place to park nearby, just look at four streets to the east and you will find big parking with lots of free spots. However, you will need to walk for about 15-20 minutes. It is worthy. Trust me.

I've now visited the Buda Castle twice. The first time exploring the less obvious stairs and passages in May, which was fun!. This time, I watched the changing of the guard and just strolled along the main routes with all the other tourists. You shouldn't miss this slice of history, which is still in use. I think I even heard another Kiwi accent in the crowd ... This is the view from the Buda Castle down the Danube, with the Houses of Parliament in the background. Also worth visiting btw!

This by far was my favourite place to visit. Its a little city on its own. Steeped in history. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Plenty of gallery's to visit on the grounds. Beautiful views. It states on the visitor app that there are hundreds of stairs to climb to get to this place but, we where surprised to find an escalator there. Am not sure about anybody with a wheelchair managing but I hope there is a facility to help with that. If you get to Budapest GO!!!

Wonderful and slightly renovated place. Many times I have been visited, and I had many experiences, sometimes good, sometimes bad. The view has to be experienced. Summer time the Garden is beautiful and warm. The place has many historical buildings. Some of them in good condition some of them it is not. I was amazed, I have seen the door with handle, without keyhole. Tricky. The only criteria can be found is the safety of the visitors. To operate the building, not possible to make such mistakes as I shown on the pictures. - Fire extinguisher sign is missing - Emergency sign on the floor - The King room has refurbished mistakes, floor, rocks. Not worth for the price - Lift dangerous to operate, missing buttons. - Do not hide the sign, behind the 🌳 Please refurbished well with safety to except the price you giving. Enjoy

We were very excited to finally visit Buda Castle, after admiring its grand structure from across the street for a few days. However, we were disappointed to find that there was extensive construction going on, which limited our options. We decided to visit an exhibit, but it did not meet our expectations and felt more like a tourist trap. We did take so many beautiful pictures of the city from the castle though.

Visiting the Royal Castle of Budapest was a delightful experience that I highly recommend. The castle itself is stunning and offers a captivating glimpse into the city's rich history. You can easily spend a couple of hours exploring its grand halls and picturesque surroundings. One aspect that I appreciated was the availability of a student discount, which made the visit even more accessible for those on a budget. It's always great to see attractions that cater to students and offer discounted admission fees. Overall, the Royal Castle of Budapest is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the city's cultural heritage. Its beauty, historical significance, and the added benefit of a student discount make it an even more enticing option for visitors.

This is more a complex of museums rather than a castle. It has several buildings that are not connected, and you pay for some stuff separately. The place does not have any signs, so it's easy to get confused and lost. The staff forgot to tell us some things when we were buying tickets so we showed up to an exhibition late and they did not want to let us in. After we complained, they said they could let us in without the tablets and headphones, but we said it was pointless and we would miss some part of this experience (essential info about everything) and demanded to speak to a manager as this wasn't our fault. The young lady who was dealing with this was very rude and unprofessional, rolling her eyes and shrugging. In the end, they fixed the situation, but of all places we visited in Budapest, this provided the worst customer service.

What a beautiful castle with wonderful architecture and spectacular views. It takes quite a bit of walk but the views make it worth it. Only drawback is that you have to walk all the way back the same way after completing the tour. You can see both sides of the river Buda and Pest from a bird's eye view. This is a must visit for anyone visiting Budapest.

Absolute beauty and you will get full view of pest side and Danube river. Better to use Castle bus (14 euros), so that you can cover full castle district, including fisherman’s bastion and other castles. Cable car (11 euro) is not a good option if you want to cover multiple attractions, it will only take you near to buda castle, rest all you have to reach by walk.

  • 4/5 Lei H. 4 months ago on Google
You can explore the grounds of buds castle for free but need to pay to see some exhibitions. We enjoyed walking around the castle and exploring the ground. The views cross the Danube river from the castle is stunning. We really enjoyed visiting as a family with a child. I would have given 5 stars ⭐️ however am giving 4 stars as the toilets were disgustingly dirty and there is no toilet paper in any of the toilets. Would be nice if someone inspected the toilets hourly and made sure the toilet paper was topped up. If you do visit buda castle , you won’t be disappointed but do make sure to bring tissues with you just in case you need the toilets. If you are visiting with a wheelchair or pushing a pram there are plenty of lifts 🛗 so very accessible.
