A much more interactive experience than anticipated! The staff brings the animals to your table, introduces them by name and explains how to interact with them. DO *listen carefully*! One look away and the bunny WILL flip your coffee and the dragon lizard WILL try to run off the table. During an 1-1.5 h stay you'll meet around five animals of different kinds (3 reptiles, 2 mammals in our case). You can also walk around, look at all the others, and appreciate the massive fluffy cats (each gets 100 points from me). The animals look well catered for and are held in good conditions (large terrariums/enclosures with a lot of entertainment). Because there are so many, they can "work" on rotation—for each booking slot different animals are "on duty" which means they don't get too scared or tired of being in constant motion and contact with humans. Booking probably essential on the weekends since the place is very popular, and quickly gets busy. One observation: the music is strangely loud and upbeat for a place that asks guests for quietness not to disturb the animals too much. The menu almost doesn't matter since you probably only come there for the animals. "Consumption is obligatory", but you will find something, the selection of drinks is wide.

Let me give you a full experience written in a review as this is the best review I can do for zoo cafe. Read until the end because the end is actually just so shocking which made me leave a 1 star review for its menu items as it's literally a tourist trap that u should NEVER go to! Now let me explain: Before going there, you do your research as a tourist, you know that u have to reserve a spot, u called their phone number many times and they rarely ever pickup so you emailed them about the reservation, once u did that you decided to research about the menu, but you look at the menu and you are really shocked at the food prices. 2300+ ft for hot chocolate. (350 ft is "service fee", the service fee is about 16.5% or less? Around that, which is outrageous considering hot chocolate worth 300ft being marked up to 2000+ ft. Which we thought the markup in price was to help pay for the animals.) But as we got there, which I booked a spor for me and my girlfriend, they were nice about us being about 10minutes late in reservation due to us being lost for a moment. That was nice, but as we entered the atmosphere is beautiful but could be a lot better considering the crazy prices. So you look at the menu, the menu you look at online didnt show the "service fee", but here they did show it, so yes the service fee is definitely a shocker. We got to stay there for an hour and 30 minutes. And we get to touch 5 animals, with each a turn for 5-10 minutes, like really just that? There were only 2 cool animals we could touch, the chameleon and tortoise, to be honest only the chameleon is worth touching given by them, but the rabbit was pretty soft so that's cool. The cats are really good too and they're huge, but sadly our table didnt even get the best view despite many other empty tables having awesome views. Do not EVER go to this place ever again, maybe a one time experience is enough but never more than once till they improve. I was fine with the place till the price shocked me, here's the part where I mentioned at the start that the end is just horrible. In the policies mentioned at the start that if you dont buy any food/drink which is stupidly priced at 2k (most of them, unless if u want to drink coffee at the night for some reason, which is around 1.5k), u have to pay 1000ft. But i dont really remember seeing them mention it is per person. i ordered one hot chocolate so me and my girlfriend can share it because of how expensive it is, and let me tell you im really dissapointed at the taste, tasted worse than some vending machine's hot chocolates. Really bland, in my opinion worth 300 forint but of course add 2000 forint because of the animals. And here's the thing, you need to order one food/drink per person or else they will charge u 1000 forint. Stupid. Never buy any food item here, it is a complete scam. Don't even feel bad if its for the animals, you're already paying for the ticket which is 1000 forint per person (unless if u buy food/drink, which i again advice NEVER do it.) I would also suggest to never go here again till their prices are justified. It's an incredibly overrated tourist trap. Go to a REAL zoo, far more worth it. And I bet this review is the most useful and helpful one out there for zoo cafe tourists. Also another quick thing of why im pissed about the prices, 2000 forint can get me 5 meals in my country (malaysia) which is why im really dissapointed. Goodbye and just go to my country instead its better🤣

100% a place you NEED to visit during your visit to Budapest! You get to eat with reptiles, birds, cats and other animals at your table! A very unique and strange experience. Booking in advance is recommended. Not recommended however if you (for some reason) don’t like animals. Its not every day you get to enjoy a piece of cake with a snake wrapped around your neck. Strict rules apply here, so be respectful towards other visitors and especially the animals. Fairly good prices, where its expected to order something. 3€ entrance fee if not. Food and beverages were okay, very basic stuff with some room for improvement. Good cakes though. Very friendly and experienced staff, where you can tell they care a lot and know a lot about the animals. Can recommend!

We had the opportunity to see different animals, while 5 types of animals were with us at the table during our hour and half reservation. About every 10 minutes we got a different animal. It was fully booked for 3 days But, the second time we did a reservation with about one week before Kids loved the cats, the turtles, the bunny, the chameleon, but also the little piton 🐍. First we ordered the drinks, then we received one animal for 10 minutes, than it was replaced with another animal… like this till the end. Nice experience, but I didn't like the smell of the place and the cats in the place where the food is served. Although there are disinfectants on the tables, they didn’t look clean to me. The drinks are on the pricier side, but that's to be expected as there's no entry fee. You only need to pay around 3-4€ if you don't order anything. The place is really interesting to visit. They have several types of animals such as lizards, snakes, rabbits, guinea pigs... cats walk freely around the cafe and come to your lap to cuddle. Reservations are required a few days in advance and we did it via e-mail. You can spend an hour and a half in the cafe, and every 10-15 minutes they change the animals at the table. They explain what can you do with each animal and what you can't. You also can reject an animal (we rejected a snake) and then you are waiting 10 minutes for the next one. Chameleon Johnny was the most interesting animal ever. We had a great time and would come again.

Not sure what to say, the staff is nice, the coffee and the place is nice and we had good experience. However I didn't feel some of the animals (cats, bunnies, guinea pigs) were kept well. The cats were also visibly annoyed. For the management : please look at how stressed the animals are. They're locked in a small cage for most of the time, then taken out only to be patted on a small table. While I liked the place, the concept needs a bit of work to have both happy guests and happy animals.

The staff brings you animals and tells you how to manipulate with them, so you dont leave without an experience unlike in cat coffee. The food and drinks are way too sweet in my view but the offer is good and the prices are little bit higher. The staff was kind and animals are treated nice:))

They have a lot of different animals to pet, all domestic, from snakes to rabbits; chameleons to guinea pigs and so much more. Cats all over the tables. Cappuccino is ok and we didn't try the tiramisu because they didn't have it. It's a 4 close to 5 :) Recommend if you love animals.

An amazing experience. We loved it so much! Well... I didn't love the snake as much as my boyfriend but I fell in love with the chameleon. The hot chocolate was great as well as the chocolate mousse cake. The prices are incredibly fair so I can only recommend this café! 🤩

The animals looks happy. The crew is over viewing the wellbeing of the animals, rotate them, explain about them and let them rest. The variety of the animals is big and it looks like the crew is taking care of them and they on a good shape. Also, the variety of the coffee and other hot drinks is large and it was a great fun visiting it.

It was a wonderful experience. Animals were very cute and friendly, I could tell that they were not neglected. The drinks and cake were tasty, the prices were rather good. I went there two separate times - the first visit was much better. The staff was much nicer, they were helpful and checked on us a few times. The second time, the waiter gave us a receipt when we still had full cups on the table and told us that we should leave because the next guests are coming, even though the visits are scheduled for 1,5h and we still had half an hour left. Although, it was definitely worth it. I fell in love with these little creatures.

Animals were so cute. My fav one is Boris(G.pig), his curls are flawless! Prices are affordable, but if you plan to visit, reservation is must have! So pay attention to that, you can send it by mail. Atmosphere is nice and cozy. They are kids friendly, ofcourse :)

Really cool experience. Reservation in advance was needed, we contacted them via e-mail. Animals are friendly and so cute. You get the rules and instructions from staff for every animal, they bring them to your table and you get 10 minutes for each animal. Cakes and drinks were also nice. 👌🏼

Wonderful experience!! Loved getting to interact with the animals, the staff gave you info on how to handle each animal which was helpful. You could tell the staff really like and care for the animals which was nice to see. Food was just okay but I sort of expected that as the main attraction of the place is the animals!

Now, for the not-so-great part - it was kinda hot inside. Imagine being in a small room with a bunch of animals, without proper air circulation. Yeah, not the best. They really need to sort their ventilation out, it'd make the experience way more enjoyable. The food? A bit on the pricy side, but hey, you're eating with a parrot on your shoulder, so it kind of balances out. They don't charge extra for hanging out with the animals, so I guess that's where they get you. All in all, it's a fun spot for a family outing. I wouldn't say it's a must-see in Budapest, but if you're in the city with kids and an hour to spare, why not? With a few improvements, this place could really be something.

At the end you have some time to walk around and visit al the enclosures where the animals live. We had a great time here and we really recommend a visit. The drinks were decently cheap, especially considering that you dont pay an entrance fee. Do make sure to reserve a few days in advance. The only downside that i can say is that the explanation of how each animal behaves and what to do is very short and fast. You need to listen very well because otherwise you wont really know what you can and cant do. Overall a really great experience and i would definitely recommend it.
