Truly deserves the title - 'Pearl of Óbuda'. This museum truly captures the essence of essence of 18-19th century of Budapest (surrounding area of Óbuda specifically). There are three floors : Ground floor : you are greeted by street signs and a pharmacy that takes you back to pre-world war thriving Hungary. In the heart of the church turned museum room lies easily the best gallery in Hungary which currently hosts the artist Mácsai. His work with the high ceiling and rustic look makes you search deep inside your own past. And welcomes you right into the region of Óbuda. Though his work primarily consisted of portraits of people you also get to see Pannonian Utca/Nagymaros and Óbuda itself. First floor : this is about the maps, interiors and miscellaneous collection of hundreds of artifacts. Maps from various times ranging from 1700-2000 can be seen here. Underground : this is dedicated to the dogs :) literally the history of domestic dogs and relations with grown of Budapest. Also the curators put a lot of thought into that exhibition. The museum personnel are well informed and very eager to help you with information.

(Translated by Google) I love this place (object), which is part of the Budapest History Museum. The objects presenting the history of the place are really wonderful! The two temporary exhibitions that can now be visited ("Infinite Desingn" and "Body Image" are also interesting.) Dear Visitors! I am pleased to announce that we have opened a new exhibition at the Kiscelli Museum today - Infinite Desingn, showcasing the work of 152 designers from 14 countries! We welcome everyone who is interested in special jewelry, furniture, furnishings, carpets / wall hangings, novelties! 👐👍 (Original) Imàdom ezt a helyet (objektumot),ami a Budapesti Történeti Múzeum része. A hely történetét, történelmét bemutató tàrgyak igazàn csodàlatosak ! A most làtogatható két időszaki kiállítás ( a " Hatàrtalan desingn " és a "Testkép" is érdekes.) Kedves Làtogatók! Örömmel jelenthetem be Nektek, hogy a Kiscelli múzeumban a mai nappal kezdődően új kiàllítàsunk nyílt - Hatàrtalan desingn címmel, mely 14 orszàg 152 dizàjnerének munkàit mutatja be ! (Translated by Google) I only saw the museum from the outside. It is beautiful in itself. There are plenty of parts to renovate. I love the place with the park forest next to it. (Original) A múzeumot csak kívülről láttam. Magában gyönyörű. Rengeteg felújitandó rész van. Szeretem hely a mellette lévő parkerdővel.

Great little building with a mix of local history and artworks. There was a strange exhibition in the crypt about toilets (no English) but otherwise a nice presentation of artefacts from the city ranging from medieval to Art Deco. Finally a well curated collection of modern artworks. Nothing special but nicely done and with English signage. Check out the church building at the end as well for an awesome atmospheric exhibition space. Even when empty it’s impressive. All in all, worth the short detour out of the city centre and a bargain at 1400(?) per person.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, you could only admire it from the outside ... but it's still so touchingly beautiful. The park forest next to it is a real excursion place, there are many hikers who run and want nature. A real gem in the Buda hills. There is a fire place! (Original) Sajnos csak kívülről lehetett megcsodálni .. de így is olyan meghatóan szép . A mellette lévő parkerdő meg igazi kirándulóhely , sok a futó, és a természetbe vágyó kiránduló. Igazi gyöngyszem a budai hegyekben . Tűzrakó hely van !

(Translated by Google) Good to come here! I was here for the first time in 30 years, I come back here regularly, it has developed a lot since then. It has evolved, improved and expanded. Now new to the foyer has become a wardrobe with a small gift counter. Unlocked is the permanent material of Budapest. The historical exhibition of the printing house is interesting. I considered the Testkep temporary exhibition to be weak. I recommend the museum! (Original) Jó ide jönni! 30 éve voltam itt talán először, rendszeresen visszajárok ide, azóta sokat fejlődött. Alakult, javult és bővült. Most új az előtér lett ruhatár kis ajándék pult. Atrendezve a budapesti állandó anyag. Érdekes a nyomda történeti kiállítás. A Testkep időszaki kiállítást gyengének tartottam.ajanlom a múzeumot!

A nice museum located in a historic building, with a permanent exhibition on the history of Budapest and a number of rotating temporary exhibitions. The staff were English-speaking, very engaging and willing to help.

The exterior of the building is very impressive with the crimson roof and bright yellow wall. The exhibition has several topics: European statues, movable type machines, Hungarian abstract arts and the blueprints of many buildings of Budapest. The section of movable type machines has a wide collection with detailed explanation and there are videos showing the operation.

The museum is a bit off the beaten path but we went there to see Istvan Macsai exhibition - an amazing artist and the exhibition of his painting together with photos and videos gave us such a great insight into his world and art and life story in general. I applaude the people who put it together in such a thoughtful and enjoyable way. The museum itself if beautiful and service was extremely friendy. Definitely a good way to spend a couple of hours.

Nice little museum in am old chapel/mansion. Interesting permanent exhibits, for example historical printing presses and antique objects from the history of Budapest. The building itself is beautiful as well, under renovation as of the fall of 2018, check the website for hours and directions. In any case, we'll with the visit. Btw, I did find English materials about the museum and exhibits.

The building was previously a church than a mansion that adds a nice vibe to the place itself. The collection mostly related to Budapest architecture and history, you can spend 1.5hrs easily discovering everything. The museum situated in a beautiful foresty surroundings, it worth to walk around.

(Translated by Google) The Kiscelli Museum is a cultural institution founded and maintained by the capital Budapest III. district. The museum building houses two member institutions of the Budapest History Museum, which are separate in terms of organization and collection, but which operate and exhibit side by side. The collection of the Department of Modern City History covers documents and various material relics related to the history of the capital after 1686. The Budapest Gallery is a collection of Budapest's fine arts, mainly the works of 20th century and contemporary artists from the capital. The Baroque-style complex on the hill above Óbuda's Vienna Road was built between 1745 and 1758 according to the plans of the Viennese architect Johann Entzenhoffer and was originally a monastery of the Trinitarians. A church smoothed to the north wing of the one-story monastery, at that time a copy of the statue of the famous Austrian pilgrimage site Mariazell was placed here, and Kiscell (German: Klein Zell) became a well-known pilgrimage site. After the abolition of the monastic orders in 1784, the building complex became the property of the chamber, it also served as a military hospital, barracks and warehouse, then the neglected property was bought in 1911 by the Viennese furniture factory and art collector Miksa Schmidt. finally, in 1935, in his will, he left it for the capital of the museum. The building complex, also known as Schmidt Castle for a long time, houses the collections of the City History and Fine Arts of the Metropolitan Museum. The museum was badly damaged in 1944-45, and was also damaged in the November 1956 fighting. Since then, much of the former convent building has been renovated and the former church building has been converted into a modern exhibition space. In the latter, in addition to temporary exhibitions, classical music performances and other occasional events are often held.

(Translated by Google) A patinated building on top of a hill, when one walks on it in the evening, one can easily captivate his imagination with the sight provided by the building, especially that it is surrounded by forest. The building needs renovation, the interior has been nicely tidied up, but there is a trace of time on the exterior façade. The exhibitions are interesting, but admission is a bit expensive. There are plenty of options in this building, it would be good if you could get into creative hands and take advantage of them.
